My gf lives in Sausalito and doesn't branch out much from the places she's used to. I yelped this place and brought her in for breakfast and was pleased. My only criticism would be to stock some vanilla Torani syrup for the lattes. Other than that we enjoyed our meal. read more

Our family was in the area, and decided to stop in after finding A5 on Yelp. The 'good for groups' setting should say 'no' or 'it depends'. We're not sure what constitutes a group. The place was half-empty, but we were told that we couldn't be accommodated. We were dressed very appropriately too. It's a new year and I wanted to update my review. Breakfasts are still homey and terrific, American comfort food. The corned beef hash is outstanding. The staff are still as kind and cheery as ever. The wooden boat feeling is still as atmospheric as ever. I wanted to say more about the prawn specialties from a separate menu. Now whenever I go, I just order from this menu. EVERYTHING is wonderful, especially the camarones rancheros. Order them "just cooked" so the shrimp have just turned opaque. The sauce is delicious, a marvel of flavors. I order mild, spiced but not spicey, but you can certainly up the level of heat to "diavalo". The proprietor goes to Mexico to purchase the seasoning, customized and ground to her request. If she would package this, I would buy it for friends and family! The garlic shrimp are fab as well! read more

I have lived in Sausalito for 14 years just discovered this place only 6 months ago. From the outside it does not look like much and when you walk in it looks like a typical diner/lunch place but the food is great. It is a hidden gem on the back streets of Sausalito nestled next door to 2 co-ops and serves an excellent Mexican influence breakfast. The huevous Montana serviced with refried beans, avacoado, fried egg, salsa and tortillas is very yummy. I have eaten several entrées and they do a great job on everything I have tried. Even the bacon is cooked to perfection. I have not eaten lunch here yet but they have a full American (burgers & sandwiches) lunch and a large selection of Mexican entrées too. I read such great reviews about this place on Yelp. So we decided to give it a try after our hike. The place wasn't crowded at all for being a Sat morning. I ordered eggs, links, potatoes and french toast. My girl got an omelet filled with peppers and spicy sausage and pancakes. It was good but we weren't impressed. The french toast were a disappoint. Just finished the Huevos Montanas and I cleaned my plate. I may need to unbutton my pants, but I'll wait until I get to the car. My companions all raved about their food as well. The Jay Blackstone Benedict was delicious. The Mexican omelette was "the best I ever had." And they kept our coffee hot, which is something most places fail at. Breakfast was very satisfying. My only deduction is for the dated marine-themed decor, and the fact that the restaurant is tucked back in a somewhat rough area. But I will come back next time I am in Sausalito. read more

I've been coming to Anchorage with friends (and colleagues--I work near Anchorage) for years! The people who run the place are really awesome. And the food is always yummy. Whether it's an omelet or the enchiladas or something in between, it's delicious. And the prices are so reasonable. The neighborhood is the classic ship-building part of Sausalito--if you want to see the economy that helped to build this little city, walk around a bit and head down to the beautiful shoreline after your meal. I had great time here celebrating my birthday. Service was very friendly and I liked the atmosphere. Food was quite good. Their egg benedict was so yummy! Had THE best prawn burrito for lunch here yesterday. Maybe it was the plethora of melted cheese mixed with the rice and the savory beans -- who knows. I had Corned Beef Hash and my wife had blueberry pancakes with apple sausage. She said that the pancakes were awsome (she says hi btw), and the sausage was just ok. We ate here for the first time today after it had been recommended by a friend and we really liked it a lot! We had the Camerones Diablia which has a heat preference gauge (I wanted medium) and it was perfect. The prawns are perfectly cooked and the homemade red sauce was amazing.. it came with black beans, spanish rice, guac and sour cream and then a few corn tortillas... I could only eat half of it, the portions are grande... we also got the Huevos Montana which was equally delicious. Been patronizing for close to 15 years with regular frequency for the last 8 as I work within walking distance. It's a great diner with all day breakfast and frankly what you expect from a diner. After today however, I will never go back regardless of liking the food as the customer service has always been lacking and today a line was crossed. Several months ago a coworker and I split eggs Benedict. It was served with abnormally curdled and over salted hollandaise sauce. Mind you I have ordered and enjoyed dozens of times prior. The server basically copped an immediate attitude and said the kitchen would not replace it as the sauce is pre made and it would all be the same. Another day after, patronizing again, we spoke with the woman who owns the place and she apologized stating that was not accurate, that the sauce is made to order and even comped part of our meal. Fair enough right?? Since then I have gone back dozens of times. Last Friday with my dad and again this morning with my kids. Well today, the same woman greeted me with "we won't make you eggs Benedict as the kitchen says your difficult" I replied well I'm not ordering Benedict but that's funny as we have already spoken about that months ago and was just served Benedict with my father two days ago!!! She continued to insult me in front of my girls, stating again and again they won't serve me Benedict. Had my girls not been hungry we would have left then. I let my girls eat, left the tip they deserved(ZERO) and now writing my first ever YELP review! Sorry but customer service matters and insulting me in front of my kids for an incident where I simply wanted the standard of food I had ordered previously several months back did not warrant how I was treated! read more
