i love andersen bakery, especially the roast beef eaters dream. I usually go to the one in the New park mall, and the roast beef eaters dream never disappoints. I dont usually go to the one in union city, but it was the closest to me at the moment. I ordered the roast beef eaters dream to go. I got home and boy! Disappointed! The roast beef sandwich i usually get in the new park mall includes roasted peppers! this location in union city only included tomatoes, lettuce, and roast beef! wheres the roasted peppers!! that's the best part of the sandwich! seriously disappointed, not going back to that location again! read more

My coworkers and I love coming here for their breakfast special. For $4, you get a cup of 16oz organic coffee (which tastes very chocolatey to me) and a pastry. The coffee is aromatic and strong and oh my goodness, the pastry is so fresh and beautiful! It's such a great way to start the morning--makes me a happy camper everytime! There aren't very many Specialty's or Le Boulanger's in the tri-city area, but Andersen bakery is a definitely a close competitor. This particular location offers a full menu, which some mall locations do not. My mom and I love to come here for lunch on the weekends before shopping. We frequently order the Cobb salad, fresh mozzarella and turkey panini, spicy turkey panini, creamy French, pesto bread, apple raisin bread and many others! It makes me smile to see the generous load of bacon that comes with the Cobb salad. It is offset by the vinaigrette that it is tossed in rather than your traditional ranch dressing. All the sandwiches are made with the freshest ingredients. The only complaint I have is that I wish they had cranberry sauce and jalapeños or pepperoncinis as additional ingredients. The pastries have consistently been tasty and are toasted to your liking if preferred. The employees here always seem very happy to serve you, which means a lot especially to me because I always alter the crap out of my orders. I went here to meet a friend a little bit late in the day. I went to order my sandwich and they have no bread selection. I asked for wheat bread and the cashier said there's no more. Do you have a whole grain bread? NO. Fine. French roll. Only to have him come back 5 minutes later to tell me they're out so I have to pick something else. FINE!! Sourdough it is. I also had clam chowder and the guy came out a second time to tell me he doesn't have that either?? Really? Totally not a good experience for the first time being here. Then to top it all off, my husband arrives and orders 10 minutes after me and his sandwich comes and he's got their whole grain bread. WTH. Hire some decent people please. Or else train them. Ugh. I called in our order for sandwiches at 12:25pm, spoke to Shawn, and he informed us that our sandwiches will be ready in 20 minutes. We got to the bakery at 12:42, paid for our sandwiches and was informed that it would be another 5-10 minutes. Shawn said that he call our name, but instead we ended walking to the cashier asking for our food. We waited for another 15 minutes, the bags of hot sandwiches were sitting in the window. When we sat down to eat our sandwiches, they were luke warm, and the edges of the bread was hard. This is our first time here, and probably will never come back, ONLY to experience this type of service. read more

My divinely gluttonous weekend began as soon as I woke up Saturday morning craving croissants. I got 2 regular, 1 chocolate, and 1 almond croissant to go for about $8. When I got home, I sliced the regular one in half, topped the bottom slice with swiss cheese, and popped them all in the toaster oven as I prepared my ham and egg over medium to make a croissant sandwich. Bf loved it. He's on a low carb diet, but he made an exception for breakfast and it was absolutely worth every carb-y crumb. The croissants were flakey and buttery. The chocolate was fine. The almond paste in the almond croissant was perfect...rich but not overpowering. My only complaint is that they were too small, but then again that's probably better for me. read more

Andersen's bakery is good for a quick bite. Pros: Good sandwiches and good danishes. Plenty of parking. Cons: Employees seemed very uptight. No one seems to smile there. And there was a mix up on an order and after telling the employee, she snapped back "That's what you said and I read it back to you!" Its similar to Panera Bread. I usually like Fruit Salad and sandwich/soup combo . They offer very limited soda choices on fountain and entrees are small in portion compare to the Panera Bread. read more

Now, I normally go to the Andersen in Stoneridge, but I decided to try it over in Union City. On this particular day, I happened to be reallllyyy hungry and realllyyyyy craving a sandwich from Andersen Bakery. Unfortunately, after I ordered, it took about 20 minutes (even though it felt like 45) even with about 6 people working and the three people behind me getting their orders. I was tempted to go behind the counter and make the sandwich for myself. I later was told they accidentally gave my order to someone else. 4 stars only because my ham and emmenthal sandwich was yummy, but that's it.Maybe more like 3.5, you get the point. read more

I am so saddened to see that this is the second time I caught a fly on their bread section! I wanted a cheese danish sooo bad too! I love their sandwiches and soup, but they definitely need to pay closer attention to things like that especially when they are in the food business and germaphobe's such as myself are very particular about seeing that. Gross! However, the staff seems nice, but inexperienced. If I were to complain about something like seeing a fly on the bread or getting my order wrong - you would think they would be super apologetic and comp something for you! Chicken Caesar Salad, first bite I was a fan. Had to take my husband back for it. He loved it. Everything else desserts especially look good. this is my FAVORITE sammies place for lunch. whenever i can't decide what to eat for lunch, andersen bakery it is! this place is really convenient because it is right next to my work. they take phone orders and you can pick it up as well. i wish they had online ordering so i can order online and then pick it up. i usually get the half and half for lunch. usually it is the turkey or chicken avocado with white bread and soup/salad. for soup i get clam chowder and i LOVE IT! for salad -- either the grilled chicken cesear or the the fruit salad with meat. the only time i try something different is when my company have them cater for us during lunch. read more

I went here for the first time the other day, and I was suprised that I hadn't been there before. I ordered the California BLT with out the extra piece of bread. The sandwich was so fresh and delicious. It had your basic BLT ingredients but they also add sprouts, and cucumbers which I thought tasted great. I also tried the creamy french, by far the best lightest snack/dessert Iv'e had in a long time. It is a basic sweet thin frech bagette filled with custard. I love the sandwiches here. If this rating were for the food alone I would rate it five stars. But the service is terrible. I know going in that it will take a long time to get the food once I order so I thought I would get ahead and call in my order for pickup. That would have worked if anyone picked up the phone. I usually have to call 2-3 times before someone answers, this last time I called 4 times and no answer. Love your food, but you need a lot of customer service work to improve. I used to come to this Anderson's all the time a year back, but I officially stopped eating here due to horrible service. On two separate occasions my to go orders were incorrect. The first time I paid for cheesecake but didn't receive it in the bag. Second, and last visit, I ordered a vegetarian sandwich and they packed me a turkey sandwich. As a vegetarian I was extremely annoyed by this mistake as I had to go somewhere else to grab dinner since they closed by the time I got home. They really need to double check their orders because I can only imagine how many other orders they've messed up due to carelessness. read more
