I really really wanted to write a good review of this place. Sadly, we weren't impressed much. We arrived after 5pm, the restaurant was EMPTY. After some banter with the somewhat lonely staff, we were seated and presented with menus. The waitress attempted to explain the specials, but obviously had no idea what was on the menu as she had to fetch her handwritten note and read from it. Not a big deal, moving on. Bread was fantastic! Garlic infused dipping oil, drooled over! Water was poured, alcoholic drinks offered (no thanks). So, our entree order was placed. A couple of other tables became occupied. I then noticed, there was only one waitress working, sadly. She did work her butt off, but you could tell her once friendly demeanor had faded away. At any rate, my wife and I still had high hopes. This place was raved about by some of our friends who had eaten here. So, here we go.. The salad? Not too bad, greens in the center topped with shredded carrot, on the side are olives, sliced grape tomato and cukes. They offered a couple of dressings (none house made, NO Italian?) they had a balsamic, ranch, blue cheese and honey mustard. I ALMOST went to the abutting dollar store (a 20 second walk away) to buy a salad dressing I'd be happy with, but my wife talked me down. I remained calm and kept a smile on my face. Ok, we're at a raved Italian joint right? So we both ordered the chicken parm. This is my staple, nobody can beat my homemade chicken parm (so I have high standards). We like fish, we love steak ( but ever since I've started using my sous vide immersion tool, I will never order restaurant filet mignon again). Chicken Parm tells me a Lot about a restaurant. Fresh chicken, check.. Hand breaded, check. Burned under the salamander, check! Plain Panko breading lacking ANY flavor, check! The sauce was thick and just ok. Nothing to rave about. I ordered capellini, arrived on my plate refrigerator cold! And I'm not exaggerating. My wife ordered penne, it was just as cold. Yet pulled about 3 minutes prior to al dente. Yep, raw pasta. Gross. I did complain about the pasta, they did bring new pasta on the side (just as cold). Sad. Idk. Pasta is on sale at stop and shop this week for $69¢ a pound. Cook it to order, PLEASE? Ramsy would have smashed that plate! We ate what we could. Both of our chicken cutlets were severely overcooked, dry and woody. Ugg. We took the rest home out of pity. We wanted dessert to go. Now, when we first ordered, I had asked to see a dessert menu, but was told that a dessert cart would be brought by after dinner. Yay, I LOVE the dessert cart! Yep, this NEVER happened.. We asked for our desserts to go, and we were told about maybe 4 desserts we can get to go (because they're "to go"). Um. One of them was cheesecake and one was a fricken ice cream sandwich! Really? What could they have offered that we could have eaten in that I couldn't have driven 5 minutes away from this restaurant? It wasn't 200 degrees outside. We both compromised with chocolate cake. We do love chocolate. (we'll get to it, it's in the fridge) Now, I understand that our waitress was overworked. I get that. And thank goodness we weren't in a hurry (or choking because it took a half hour to get my water refilled). The bill took another 20 minutes to show up, and an eternity for it to be processed. Nothing was comped (not that I was "expecting that") but I've had better meals that were taken care of because they sucked less than tonight's. And no, we don't complain often. And I do only write reviews like this when I feel it's necessary. (perhaps I should start writing when I have better experiences) duly noted. Well, Happy Birthday to me I guess. We get out maybe twice a year now and after tonight I don't want to chance it any more. I'd rather just cook at home (culinary trained) AND wash the dishes too. I still tipped 20%. Not entirely her fault. I'm not a monster. Will we go back? Meh. Maybe. After a trip to the dollar store for salad dressing and my grandma to gnaw on the bland chicken... Oh wait! I can fill up on the bread, the garlic oil was delectable! Update: Gee Carl, thanks so much for responding. As I disclosed already, I only feel the need to write reviews when I have a terrible experience. Since you did take the time to review my history here, you obviously noted that most of my reviews are negative. If you paid close attention, you'll see that my reviews date back several years... Perhaps instead of attacking your customers with your whimsical replies, may I suggest that you offer an apology and maybe even find a creative way to make your disappointed customers want to revisit for another try. I'm sorry that the truth hurts and offends you, but after reading the other reviews about your place and your responses to them, I feel that my review is spot on. Haha! Andrew's Bistro never disappoints. Proprietor Chris and Chef Carl really go above and beyond taking care of their guests. The wait staff is exceptional, and make you feel like you're part of the family. I've been going there for several years now, and honestly haven't had a single bad experience. Tonight I dined with my wife and one of our sons. They were jam packed at 8:00pm, but Chris managed to squeeze us in. We were seated in the newly expanded section of the restaurant, which was really nice, being that it isn't fully opened yet. We liked it back there, as it was more quiet and homey feeling. Our waitress Melissa came right over with water and bread, and took our drink orders. She was extremely attentive without rushing us. A really bubbly, friendly young lady, that takes extra care to ensure you are well cared for and do not want for anything. We ordered the calamari modo mio, which came out perfectly. The calamari was very tender, yet crispy and the soy based sauce was really tasty and different than the usual marinara, balsamic or olive oil & garlic types typically served in the area. I had the special Ahi tuna with sesame seed crust, and a really delicious avacado and lemon based dipping sauce. The tuna was fantastic, perfectly cooked and the sauce was an excellent match. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and not a crumb was left on my plate. My wife had the prime rib special, and it was exactly as she ordered. Very tender and flavorful. She actually finished the whole thing, which is a rare occurrence, proving it was delicious. My son had the chicken francaise and he said it was the best he's ever had. The dessert tray came afterwards, and while we were all extremely full from our meals, we couldn't pass up the fresh made desserts. I had the creme brulee, which is what I always have, and as always, it was truly scrumptious. My wife had the coconut creme pie and my son had the fresh made chocolate lava cake. The lava cake takes 20 minutes to make, and they warn you of that fact, but was well worth the wait. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her coconut cream pie, but had to bring half home, after quickly running out of room. Both Chris and Carl came by our table to check on us, and ask how our meals were, and thanking us for joining them for the evening. Another top notch meal at Andrew's Bistro, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit. read more

Ok Hands Down I LOVE this restaurant. Just had the most amazing dinner there again last night. Took two of our friends who are REAL international foodies and the LOVED it. Attention to every detail made it a perfect night including the temperature in the restaurant. There were ceiling fans making just a trace of wind - we were oh so comfortable. I am so tired of being in over air conditioned iceboxes during the summer and this attention to detail was heavenly, no matter what you wore it was the perfect temp. I can't believe how long we stayed and we never felt rushed, we had delicious appetizers, salad, main dishes, and dessert- we got FOUR appetizers and all of them were state of the art delish The calamari modo mio appetizer was a fabulous way to have one of my favorite foods and the sauces and plating of every single other appetizer were awesome. The shrimp was done to perfection and with a sauce that was so good we scraped every last bit from the appetizer plate...some kind of heavenly buerre blanc. Everything we tasted that night was great on the palate. One of our guests had the mixed grill which contained lamb sausage. She is one lady in search of great lamb sausage and AB again was on the highest level according to her- just the right balance of herbs and cooked just right not dry or crumbly -lamb is a difficult meat to sausage (is that a verb?) it can be dry etc. Anyway, It was a knockout as were all our meals. I had Beef Wellington Yum it was one of their specials that night and I know they do it great - it was! I love Lobster Ravioli too which I try to find a good version of everywhere I go and the dish at AB is still my all time favorite. In fact I've given up ordering the dish other places. Yes as the other reviewer said, Andrew does greet everyone- he really succeeds in making you feel like a welcome guest in a charming European kinda way and he and the staff are just wonderful. At one point I said I wanted something from my plate to-go Just wrapped in foil. (I'm tired of the environmental impact of to-go containers) No raised eyebrows from the waiter. Classy as this place is, the customer is KING. YES! I love it. Don't be deterred, this place is tucked away in a parking lot by a Gold's Gym - but once inside you are in another world so delicious you will understand why I drove down to Boston to treat very special foodie friends. I'll be there again and again. A few last notes and then I gotta go to my community garden (my eggplants are coming in!) Spent last New Year's Eve at Andrew's Bistro with a big party and we had an incredible feast. They sometimes do special menus to celebrate the holidays! My husband and I have been going to Andrew's at least once every week for about four years. The food is always delicious with great menu selections and new specials every week. The waitstaff, bartenders and busboys are polite, attentive and always take great care of us. Carl and Chris take great care to make sure their customers are enjoying their dining experience. But one of the reasons we love it and keep coming back is the friendly atmosphere. We have developed wonderful friendships with Carl, Chris, the staff and some of the regular customers. Meh. I'm disappointed. We went for lunch today; it was not impressive. We were the only table in the restaurant and our food took an oddly long amount of time. We ordered a wrap and a pizza...quick things you would think! The wrap wasn't anything to call home about (Santa fe wrap) and the margarita pizza wasn't wonderful either. It had a balsamic reduction glaze on it that was very overpowering for my palate. Our water glasses had lots of floaters in them. We joked that it was probiotic water but I can say confidently that it was dust, dirt and grime. First time here food and service were excellent. We had a few appetizers we had the mussels in white wine sauce, lobster and crab deviled eggs and calamari modo moo. We had two of the daily filet specials. Also had the Chef filet, Hawaiian flatbread (it is big enough for 2 people to share) and my youngest had chicken fingers. The food came out hot and tasty. This place is a hidden gem in my opinion. First off, the service was amazing. Sarah our server was attentive and super friendly. She couldn't do enough to make the experience amazing. The Charcuterie was insane. The options for drinks were custom and well priced. Then we have the meals. The Bistro steak with spinach and croquet, highly recommended. Andrew's is located in a hidden location. You can't see it from the road and it is connected to a discount furniture store. Both things that I would think weren't so great. Boy, I was wrong. Don't let the strange location fool you. Inside Andrew's is nice and romantic. It is a great date night place. Not a first date thought. I mean a date night for those seasoned veteran's who's idea of a date night is having someone else prepare and serve you dinner, drinking wine, and getting dessert to go! Although I gave Andrew's 4 stars, it wasn't for what I ordered. I got the chicken marsala- a solid 2 star entree, and my hubby got the rigatoni- solid 3 stars. The reason we will be going back to this place is because we did order the calamari appetizer to start and it was heavenly! I LOVE to get Calamari wherever I go. I really judge the quality of a restaurant based on their calamari. Andrew's was exceptional. I would rate it up there with Haruki's- which is my favorite. I think we both just happen to have chosen entrees that were not awesome. I would recommend going- and try their wine pairings. They were surprisingly delicious! read more

The staff I interacted with were all friendly and kind. We had Chicken Parm and Chicken Marsala. Both to die for! When you're Italian it's hard to find good Italian food. As others have mentioned, if you pass on this place by how it looks outside (and what is surrounding it) then you are missing out on some decent Italian food. And I say decent because it was above the average that I have gotten around lately, but still not great. The Antipasto was ok, but did not have anything on it that made me go wow. It was a bunch of items i could pick up and the store and put on the plate myself. The Veal dish was ok. It has good flavor, but the veal was too thick and ended up being to rubbery. The chicken parm was very good. Well cooked and the sauce was tasty. The Butternut Squash Ravioli were quite good as well. The prices were on par with what i would have expected and the portion sizes were just right. The service was good and had no complaints about that. read more

I have eaten at Andrew's a few times and did host my niece's wedding there a few years back. Everything was just fine...food, ambience, drinks etc. This time was a different story. I ordered the duck, which is always a treat for me. The duck was plated as if the breast meat was tossed on the plate, along with the potato croquette and asparagus. Not "eye candy" for sure! The grilled asparagus was tasty, however, the spears had been cut, not snapped. As a rule, the upper part of the spear is very tender while the lower part is tougher and very chewy. I did not eat the lower part of the spear, since it was not even chewable. My husband's steak tips were difficult to cut and to chew. The menu said they were to be served with bacon ravioli. The only bacon flavor was in the sauce, the ravioli were filled with potatoes or something similar. The server, Joe, was Ok....despite the fact that I had to ask if I could order a drink. He also tried to be a bit more animated than necessary. The drinks were very good. When the dessert tray was presented, nothing was enticing enough to order. Never saw a three layer yellow cake with off-white icing described as "tiramasu" (sp?) The warm oil with roasted garlic cloves was the highlight of the meal. Needless to say, it will be quite some time before we go back to Andrew's. read more

Our first visit to this restaurant, and overall we were quite pleased. Located in a strip storefront, adjacent to the worst condition parking lot ever, the interior of this restaurant is decorated nicely. A pleasant surprise. They have a very nice menu, and the evening we visited they had some nice appetizer and entree specials. The wine list contains quite a few good selections among the $25 to $30 bottle price range. Service was outstanding, and our meal choices for the evening (filet mignon perfectly cooked and a slow roasted pork tenderloin) were very good. Only complaint might be the over-dressed greens and caprese salad. We will definitely visit again sometime soon. read more

The food was delicious & service exceptional. I had the butternut squash ravioli with an amaretto cream sauce. It was divine! Nice size glass of wine reasonably priced. I appreciated their wine selection by the glass too. Our server was attentive & informative. The only thing I could have asked for was more bread (but seriously, I would have just filled up on the garlic infused oil). Table behind us had their dog pass away earlier in the day. Manager heard and was so kind that he came over to offer his condolences and visit the table. The strip mall has had a facelift and parking lot redo. Very nice! read more

We had the best dinner. The prime rib was the best we have ever had very flavorful, cooked to perfection. The diver scallops over risotto was our second choice. Very sweet and cooked perfectly. Stopped in Saturday for a couple of cocktails with my wife. Great staff, service and atmosphere. What disappointed me was that, when we arrived, there were 4 people sitting at the bar, and 6 other seats open. Four of the six had reserved signs on them. We took the remaining two. We had arrived around 4:30. During the hour or two that we were there, 10 or 12 people tried to sit at the bar and asked about the reserved signs since most places don't allow bar seat reservations. They were told that "regulars" would be in soon. A few of the people that tried to sit there left the restaurant. When we left 2 hours later, the place was packed and those 4 seats were still empty with the signs on them. I wonder what the management is thinking when they keep 2 seats empty for hours when they could have turned the seats at least once and kept clients happy and coming back. If I go again on a Saturday, I'll be sure to make a bar reservation! read more

For the Second [Definitely the Last !] time in a couple of months my wife and I went to this Bistro. Pasta was over cooked & the Sauce was so bad that even our dogs would eat the leftovers! This place is an absolute joke, attempting to pose as an upscale restaurant, you can expect to be treated like a "frat brother" [What's up dude, be right there pal?], consistently be underwhelmed by the poor food quality & yes...Pay stupid prices!!! This is a great local restaurant to have in Cumberland. It's funny that I've only been now that I have moved out of that town. The atmosphere is nice here. Table clothes and nicely dressed waiters. I would say this place is between angelos and la familia atmosphere wise. It's nice but still a bit casual with some tables kind of in the middle of nowhere. Plus the beautiful window kind of just stares at the dollar store. Price wise this is on the higher side as they serve lots of seafood and high end meat. I had chicken parm and it was well worth the money. I have never seen such a large serving of chicken! I took more than half home. The pasta was a bit too al dente for me, I probably should have specified. We also had the fries mozerella for an appetizer and it was amazing. I highly recommend this app. My bf had the paea and he loved that it wasn't too much rich. He said he appreciated how much meat there was, enough to get some in every bite. The service was also amazing. The woman was very nice and highly attentive. I do give 2 stars to the dessert tho. The chocolate cake was underwhelming and the crime brûlée was really bad. It had a lemon taste I wasn't expecting and the sugar wasn't really caramelized at all. I'd def say skip the dessert here. read more

Dinner tonight did not measure up at all. I'm not sure if it's a new chef but the chicken parmigiana was tough and the haddock didn't appear nor did it taste fresh. Two of my grandchildren suggested we try to this place because my wife likes steak so we decided to try it. Glad we did, started with apps got stuffed mushrooms and steak and cheese egg rolls they were fantastic.we were a party of 6 and the service was great then we ordered dinner we got filet mignon, pasta Bolognese, fish and chips, barbecue chicken pizza, a wedge salad and a Cesar's salad. I was very unhappy with my service here. I was made to feel like I was being a bother because I do not eat onions. "Let me guess, no onions" seemed to be the ongoing quote from my waitress. My husband loves the burgers and Fries but I keep having a hard time finding something I like there. Sometimes restaurants over do simple dishes with fancy sauces and other garnishes that don't belong, like their ravioli. I really wanted a cheese ravioli with pasta sauce. They had an exotic mushroom ravioli with marina, I couldn't stomach it. It's not their fault, they didn't have what I was looking for, the menu is just really Exotic for an Italian bistro type restaurant. After a visit in January 2015, and several emails with the chef / restaurant owner to express our disappointment, I gave them one more try today as the chef / owner recommended. He asked that we return to make this right & strongly recommended that we call the attention of any errors in service and/or food at the time of our visit. Unfortunately, I did just that. We were a party of 4 and only 3 of us had dinner. We were there approx. 2 hours and the owner / chef sat at the table to the right of us - visiting with a couple. He was dressed in a chef jacket, but I do not believe he was doing any cooking tonight - as he never left the table. The restaurant was fairly busy and the service was acceptable. We ordered bruschetta that was just ok. Then we ordered butternut squash ravioli, chicken Parmesan with Penne & Veal Parmesan with linguini. The waitress arrived with 2 dishes followed by a gentleman in a suit - I am guessing the restaurant manager - who was carrying the third dish. They quickly placed the veal & Chicken on the table - and announced that the kitchen mixed up the pasta selections. They quickly offered additional plates so my guests could separate the pasta themselves. The pasta was a bit overcooked, but edible. My ravioli was undercooked, but better than overcooked. The chef / owner overhears what happens, but remains at the table visiting with his friends. The server returned to take away our plates & to offer to package left overs. I quickly declined, however, my guests attempting to be polite, accepted her offer. She asked if everything was ok and no one responded. She returns will the bill, $125 for 3 entrees and 6 drinks. Once the bill is paid, the chef / owner says goodbye to his friends and is at our table to ask how everything was. I quickly respond to say, "just ok". I begin to say there was a mix up with the pasta, he interupts to tell me that he knows that the kitchen corrected this. I said, "they brought plates so everyone could swap the pasta themselves". He says, "ok, but how was the food" - we repeat, "just ok". He mutters something about wanting our experience to better better than ok, thanks us for the feedback and quickly exits. I later learned that my name was recognized once I made payment, and may be the reason the chef paid a visit to our table - (we did not have reservations). Dear chef / owner, when inviting yourself to my table to inquire about my experience knowing there were issues - please appear before my bill is sent. Please do not interrupt me as I am answering YOUR question - listen to my answer. Very dissatisfied with chef / owner's false interest. Either ask questions and listen - or please ignore us as you did when our food arrived incorrectly. It's too bad you can't figure out how to fix this. The place is beautiful but the food is not worth the money - those prices would get me great service and a place with quality food. Maybe call restaurant rescue? Oh, and once again I attempted to contact you through the website and the link is nothing more than an error (which was also broken in December). Save your money! If you approach the chef / owner to offer honest comments to help them improve - it's taken personally & the behavior is less than professional! Chef attire is earned and not typically purchased at local costume stores :)! I would NEVER visit this place often enough to be recognized by staff - it is a waste of hard earned money! If the owner/chef's definition of visiting "several times" means twice in 6 months then clearly there is confusion on what a returning customer & repeated business means to this restaurant. My review is quite similar to other reviews submitted within the last 12 months and has been validated chef / owner himself in his response to this review I would recommend that they hire a professional to handle the feedback and potentially an editor - as this is only restaurant I know of with a manger running the show! We went a couple of weeks ago had a male bartender . He ignored us , made us wait for drinks , food and then check . After we paid , he made an out loud comment as we were walking out about his tip. Called the owner to bring to his attention . He said he was sorry and would address the bartender . We went back last night. Had a female bartender whom was not attentive . "Complaining the whole time about the "corona " virus had some under 21 year old boy at the bar doing her "clean " up work . Pretty much ignored us . Meanwhile the same male bartender was working at the other bar. Worked in the food service industry a long time ago , and this is how you keep clientele from NOT returning . Poor service ! Sad it's a cute local place with a nice ambiance food ok but very few vegetarian choices . read more

Brussels sprouts were barely cooked and the roasted potatoes seemed old & moldy...I asked for a different vegetable & was told they only spinach ... saw at the next table they had green beans ...service was painfully slow ... waiter was condescending... & made himself scarce when it was time for the bill ... manager did take two of the 4 meals off the bill which made things better but definitely would not go back Only got 1 Star because it wouldn't post without 1 !!! read more

We've tried Andrew's several times, both with the original owner and the current owners. Every time has been just OK. The wine list has always been good, but the food is unspectacular. The last time we went, I got short rib which was not quite fork tender- either not allowed to cook long enough, or poor cut to begin with. The quality of the food, service and pricing is incredible. Andrew's Bistro is a hidden gem, located in a strip mall in Cumberland, near the Woonsocket line. Being a self-proclaimed Providence based food snob, I was truly surprised and delighted that I found such a great restaurant near my company in Woonsocket. The food is phenomenal! Fresh, tasty, innovative, lick-your-dish good! I hosted a "time" (as we say in RI) last night for 20 colleagues. Chris placed us in his private room, with our own bar service and perfectly executed the timing of the food. Every single person in my party commented on how delicious the food was, how perfect the service was, and how lovely the room was. We had a little bit of everything... 2 kinds of calamari, clams casino, eggplant rollatini, goat cheese bruschetta (I'm in heaven), italian ham bruschetta and more! It was SO good that I'm going again next week with a party of 8 for another work function. And, one of the prestigious doctor's that I work with is hosting his department's holiday party at Andrew's. I feel like this restaurant is pretty decent but quite overpriced for the quality of the food. I've eaten here a handful of times and there's not much to complain about, but $16 and $18 average-tasting pasta dishes are nothing to praise either. Last went there on Thanksgiving, the food was ok, but was served room temperature. When that $80 check showed up it was a bit disappointing. read more

Went there for dinner and both meals were disappointing. Prime rib was extremely fatty and had little taste. The veal Oscar was heavily breaded and generally not appetizing. Even the vegetables were over cooked. Not a good experience at all. read more

I left the restaurant very disappointed...the service was great, the food was good...but they nickle and dime you for everything. If you want to subsitute pasta for the potato, they charge....if you want extra sauce, they charge $2.00 for a small portion, equivalent to a tablespoon. It was overpriced for the area and there are many other restaurants in the vicinity that have a similar atmosphere/quality of food and they will not charge extra for any modifications and will appreciate your business. As a continuation, my mother just had an issue there tonight. It was so bad that the owner came out and offered she and her party 2 free dinners. Needless to say, it's too little too late.....they will not be returning either. read more
