The service was great!!! However, the food was very bland and lacked flavor! Not much of a selection on salsas too!! I love my food spicy and having a variety of salsas would have helped! We had the carnitas tacos, and breakfast tacos, again not well seasoned. I've had carnitas in many places in LA and Mexico (Uruapan Michoacán) and these carnitas were not that...even the carnitas in LA were better. On a good note, the chips and guacamole were good! The ambiance is very casual, you just walk in and order.
We ordered a bunch of tacos on Sat or Sun night. We walked over from the hospital after spending all day there. Probably would have enjoyed the tacos more if it was under better circumstances. I can't even remember which tacos were what but they had a large portion of meat and the tortilla was good. It's a small spot and a bit warm inside, not sure if they have ac since the doors were open. It was also a little smokey inside, but smelled like delicious meat on the grill.
Took my mom out here since she was craving Mexican food. Found this spot through Yelp and noticed it was popping and popular so we went to give it a try. The lady who served us was kind and polite; didn't rush us at all. We ordered their famous Chilaquiles and a beef burrito. The food presentation is nice and the color scheme makes it look delicious, however, the flavor did not go well with our palate. The burrito was humongous, but it tasted pretty basic. The spicy sauce wasn't that spicy. We could have brought our own sriracha bottle for a little kick lol, but that's not authentic. I really wanted to like this spot based from the good reviews, but it wasn't meeting my expectations. I would be a liar if I was to give it a 4/5 at most if I do say so myself. We didn't finish our food and took it for Togo. If you want to give this place a try, I'm not stopping you alright. I might taste better to other people, but it's not my cup of tea. Regardless, it's still a lovely local shop.
The Friend... The Best Friend.... The talk on the phone all night, Friend.... And best of all, the sleep over your house when we're all adults already, Friend.... This is Her Friend, and although I like her, she is not my friend, respectively speaking of course. But when I woke up this fateful Sunday morning and walked into the living room, I saw her, sprawled about my couch, moments from waking up and wondering where her next meal would come from. I had to think quick but it was Sunday and I was in the midst of an alcohol fog. I was too late! The Friend had woken up and I had already made eye contact. There was nowhere to hide and no way out of this already destined Sunday adventure. "Where we going for lunch?" she managed to get out over a yawn. As I mentioned before, I was still in a fog and although my response should have been a place with a drive-thru window, even that simple knowledge was not available to me at the moment and instead I blurted out the first food related name I could think of and shouted, "Anepalco?" The Friend nodded with mean approval, so me, my lady and The Friend were off to what my wallet would call, "a not excessive but pricey for what it is meal." The silver lining to this whole situation was that the food was indeed delicious. Ordering anything with the mole is going to be magical on your tastebuds, especially with the enchiladas. Their tacos were slightly above average and the torta tasted like a perfectly made torta. I guess it wasn't such a bad Sunday after all. Stay looking for the silver linings & delicious mole my friends....
Came here for breakfast. The place is cozy and clean The staff was very welcoming and helpful. We tried the watermelon aguafresca upon their recommendation. For entrees we ordered horchata french toast and chilaquiles with asada. Watermelon Aguafresca- This was sweet and refreshing. The watermelon flavor was distinct and it was served ice cold. Horchata French Toast- This has a lovely cinnamon flavor with a creamy horchata sauce. A tasty sweet dish! Chilaquiles with Asada- We were able to get this with combination sauce. The tortillas were fresh and crisp. The asada is tender and juicy. The salsa rojo and verde tied the flavors together. Finished with an over easy egg. Great experience overall!
Anepalco never misses. The chilaquiles were so good and the Mexican mocha made with Abuelita chocolate was pure comfort. I couldn't decide which type so I tried the divorciados which is both salsas ! We also tried the Burrito del Norte. The meat was so savory. Parking is limited, but totally worth it if you're in Orange. We went early during breakfast and it was perfect timing right after, it packed up fast. There are two locations; this was the smaller one and it's such a cute, cozy little brunch spot.
The place is tiny however beautifully decorated. They do have a small menu. The service was a bit slow. We had to sinuously wave down the server. We never got water, even though. When the food arrived, the flavor was OK. It was anything extravagant and they don't offer any extra condiments which sucked because some of the food you get extra flavor overall, the place was OK. The staff was really nice however they hardly check up on us.
This place does not disappoint, at this point I've tried everything on the menu and my favorite dish is the Huevos Perdidos the duck carnitas is amazing!!!! The aqua frescas are also delicious!
This is a great restaurant to visit with your family and friends. We had a delicious brunch. The food was seasoned well and very balanced tasting. We enjoyed the Guava French toast and green chilaquiles. I wished the French toast was more soft and fluffy, rather than dense. Our toddler's mac n cheese was very simple, but still tasted good. Our kid really enjoyed the sweet watermelon. The service was friendly and quick. The restaurant itself is clean, pretty, and spacious. The music choice is top notch!
My coworkers and I came here for the chilaquiles and they did not disappoint! I usually don't go for chilaquiles often but I heard this place had top notch chilaquiles; both great presentation and taste! We came on a Thursday morning and this place was already packed. It is a very small restaurant with limited parking so I can definitely see this place even more packed on the weekends. We all ordered 4 dishes to share: Horchata French Toast, Guava French Toast, Green Chilaquiles, and Chilaquiles (red) w/ carnitas. Both french toast tasted really good; not too sweet. I really enjoyed the red chilaquiles with carnitas more than the green but maybe because we added meat to it hehe. The presentation of the chilaquiles was perfect, topped with egg, pico de gallo, avocado, cojita, and cream...it was too perfect to eat. Overall service and food were great. I will definitely be back to try their Huevos Perdidos and Ceviche. Definitely recommend! :)
I'm not sure if this dish is supposed to be prepared like this but I'm only able to eat half my meal with how oily this dish is served. Basically chips,beans, cheese and sauce for a heavy price tag. Been eyeing this place for a while... I can tell they have a lot of potential and maybe their other dishes would be delicious but this is keeping me from going back.
Anepalco is a cozy mexican brunch spot near St. Joseph's hospital. If you're visiting a loved one and want to get out to get a bite you can easily walk over to this restaurant. The staff is very kind and the food was good. The chilaquiles came with red and green salsa which made them very flavorful but the carne asada was too tough which is why I gave it a 4/5 stars. The horchata french toast was delicious. It was not too sweet which I appreciated. I just wish it came with some more fruit. Overall this is a great brunch spot to visit when you're in the area!

I love this place! Once of my favorite brunch spots in OC. My favorites are the guava French toast and chilaquiles; always so yummy! Service is always great and super friendly. The parking can be a bit of a struggle. - Queso fundido (4/5): more soupy than what we were expecting, but we were pleasantly surprised at how tasty it was! We needed extra bread when we split among 4 people - Chilaquiles divorciados (5/5): always a favorite. I like the variety of red and green, but green is my favorite. Love the tanginess and the smokiness. Just an amazing flavor profile - Guava French toast (5/5): so good. I love guava flavored everything, and this French toast is perfectly not too sweet, crispy on the edges, just so good - Carne asada (4/5): cooked and seasoned well, beans were tasty as well Highly highly recommend!! read more

So glad we found out this place turns into a taqueria at night. We usually just come here for brunch. The tacos are phenomenal. They grill some of the meats on an open charcoal grill out front. My favorite was the wagyu rib eye. They have other prime meats as well. The prime tacos were only $6 each and they were generous with the filling. They also have burritos and bowls. Super friendly folks working there too. Parking is slightly better at night since surrounding shops are closed. read more
Great little jewel off the beaten path. Fun variety of dishes. Great service. Comfortable ambiance and reasonable prices. As a lover of Horchata I couldn't pass up getting the Horchata French Toast. Great service but no decent parking in the front nor back. Good luck with that. While it looks like a hole in the wall, it's near the mall so I'd say it's pretty popular. The ladies who served us the food and drinks were really nice and attentive on a Tuesday morning. Free coffee refills and they got our food out quick. Columbian coffee: according to my brother, tasted like the Costco columbian ground coffee. Abuelita hot chocolate: warm milk with some spices. Wasn't enough chocolate nor cinnamon to call it hot chocolate though. I'd say an 85% milk taste ratio. Wouldn't recommend it unless you just like milk. Al pastor tacos: two big tacos with plenty of pork but kind of bland. Needed more salsa or just plain salt and pepper. I've had better al pastor so I wouldn't recommend these. Green enchiladas: the best dish honestly. Not only was the presentation really cool but the flavors were all there. Tangy but savory. We added carne asada and it definitely went well with the sauces and tortilla. The egg on top was also a nice touch. It looks like a lot of sauce but honestly, you'll eat all of it. Overall, definitely a great place for brunch, especially since they're not open for dinner. Decent amount of indoor and outdoor seating too but definitely carpool or park across the street and walk. I'm a big fan of chilaquiles and this spot has been saved on my list for awhile. Very tiny place part of a tiny strip mall. I had to circle the strip mall a few times trying to figure out where I was allowed to park since all the free spaces were marked for other businesses. I later learned from a waiter that you could park in any spot. It was not too busy when I arrived at about 8:30am on a Saturday. There is outdoor seating available on the walkway but you're right next to parking spaces. Thankfully there were tables available inside. It took longer than it should have for me to get seated and given a menu. I decided to go with the chilaquiles divorciados and added the carne asada for an extra cost. I have a big appetite but could have definitely shared it with someone. I preferred it with the red sauce. The carne asada was seasoned well and I can't imagine the dish being good enough without it added. The cucumber lime Agua Fresca was refreshing but the serving size was surprisingly small for the cost. Service was just a-okay. It didn't beat out my favorite place for chilaquiles so I likely won't be back. My dish was not worth $22. 3.5 stars. read more

On a heavily rainy day, we were starving after morning errands, and foraging for food. My craving meter says breakfast burritos, hence we landed here at Anepalco. The place smells so good, presumably some carne roasting in the kitchen. I got my usual, the tender breakfast burritos. It is yummy and I was happy. As I indulged my order, I am flabbergasted by the presentation of the Chilaquiles. I've never seen something so grant before. Their serving size is really for sharing or the ravenous. I can't tell you if the food is 100 on the authenticity scale, but it tick off my delicious box! read more
There are two Anepalco restaurants unfortunately (and fortunately,) located both in Orange, CA, which people get confused. To separate the two is this restaurant is at Main St. (aka Anepalco Mexican Restaurant - Main) and the other one is in the Ayres' ALO Hotel (aka Anepalco Mexican Restaurant - Chapman) according to their website. Another difference is that this place (Main) is more of a cafe so it is a casual/family setting. I tried both Anepalcos and each of them have their own uniqueness so I recommend you visit both of them. Food is pretty much the same with a slightly different menu options. Their signature dishes are chilaquiles and guava french toast so definitely check them out. The service here is superb as the server frequently makes sure that we have everything we need and checks if are having a great time, which we did. read more
This Is my second time here in just about 10 years. I actually don't even remember how the food was the first time around. The good bits: known for their chilaquiles. ( Not a big chilaquiles fan, but my nephew picked the spot). Chilaquiles aren't half bad. Throw some meat one there ( pollo or carne asada and artifact pretty good). Food comes in a modern upscale presentation with modern upscale pricing, but workout the modern upscale ambiance. The servers are attentive and pleasant and we were able to reserve tables for 15 people outside in the walkway on front of Anapelco's. The Not so good bits: parking is atrocious. Packed in a strip of buildings along a really busy road (main street) with about maybe diagonal 12 parking spots. I'd you miss the spots ( which some in our party did) then you drive to the back parking and walk around the building. One of the plates (Chile Relleno $13.5) was bland as can be, cheese wasn't melted all the way through and potatoes that came with the meal came super late. Now this is just my review, and again I'm not a big fan of chilaquiles. This isn't really a stroller friendly place due to the size of the restaurant itself. However, I'm sure those who love chilaquiles would love this place. read more
Let me just start by saying, I am a chilaquiles connoisseur. Hands down one of my favorite meals in the world. When I looked up restaurants near our hotel, this place popped up. And seeing all the great reviews, I just had to check it out. My boyfriend and I shared the chilaquiles and green enchiladas. As much as I wanted to LOVE the chilaquiles, I couldn't. They were bland, so bland I had to ask for salt and I NEVER ask for salt. The flavors were there but overall just bland and a little dry when you got to the middle. I also wish they asked how I wanted the eggs cooked, scramble wouldn't have been my first choice. The green enchiladas were okay, but again very bland. Maybe they had an off day. I am from out of town, so I don't know if I would be back. read more
Was hungry after an early work appointment and wanted something different. This spot fit the bill. It's small--maybe ten or fifteen tables so I imagine on the weekends it's crazy here and if it isn't people are missing out! I really wanted to try the guava french toast but the Nortena Omelette was calling to me. It wasn't spicy but the balance of the salty cotija cheese with the oaxaca cheese was nice along with the slight tang of the salsa so the short rib didn't overwhelm the omelette. I like the fresh green salad instead of starches and the sourdough toast was a nice surprise. read more
The food is amazing! There is parking in the back and front. Modern Mexican food. The staff feels like family and extremely nice. The vibe is small but chill. If it's nice outside definitely eat outside! I got the French press coffee and tostada! read more

I've only visited twice, and I can easily say that Anepalco is one of the best Mexican restaurants in Santa Ana. Right when you walk in, you're greeted by friendly servers and vibrant Spanish music. The walls are painted with Mexican-inspired murals. There is such a homey and welcoming vibe, and their food reflects it as well. Guava French toast 5/5: Absolute perfection. The guava is refreshing, tangy, and sweet. One of the waiters told us they make their guava syrup fresh daily! You can truly taste it. Horchata French toast 5/5: Reminds me of Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal but in French toast form! The horchata is creamy and sweet. You really can't go wrong trying this one. Roja chilaquiles 5/5: Delicious corn tortillas topped with eggs, guacamole, and cotija cheese. The salsa was well spiced. The entire dish was flavorful and well balanced. Quesadilla 5/5: Not your traditional quesadilla! This one is like an open-faced quesadilla, with the cheese and toppings on top of the tortilla. The presentation was beautiful, and each bite was filled with gooey cheese and delicious sauces. Definitely a fan favorite. It's been years since I've paid a visit to Anepalco. They are, hands down, still the best place to get chilaquiles. We got both the green and red sauce, but I definitely prefer the red sauce for that nice hint of smokiness. We also ordered the guava French toast which did not disappoint. Dessert for breakfast, why not? Love the ambience of the restaurant but it is small. We came on a weekday and were able to be seated right away. However, not sure how it looks on the weekend. Additionally, the parking lot is ridiculously small. There are more spots in the back of the restaurant but limited to maybe no more than 3. read more

We went for brunch during a weekday. It didnt seem busy but it took a about 30 minutes to get our food. Once we got our food, the guava french toast was cold...not sure why they didnt brought it out sooner. The food was ok. This used to be my go to brunch place but last few times have been disappointing. However, wanted to give it another chance but still disappointed. Probably not going to come back. Parking is tough but they told us we could park in spots that are labeled blue bowls. read more

Decided to check this place out on a Sunday - and considering the day, there was no wait and parking wasn't bad (parking right outside the restaurant and around the building). The location itself is small (indoor and outdoor), one bathroom (located inside the kitchen), overall small joint but clean. Their staff is polite but our food took a long time to come out. We finished our agua fresca which by the way was delicious way before the food ever came out. I get it though, there wasn't a lot of people in the kitchen working. I ordered the enchiladas - amazing presentation but I wish they were more flavorful. And same for the Chilaquiles Divorciados - looked amazing but lacked so much flavor. I was really looking forward to this place but it just didn't hit the spot. Will I be coming back? Probably not. read more
Small place in a strip mall next to the Hospital. This is some incredible Mexican food. Having lived and worked in Mexico for years I know great Mexican food. This place makes all of their dishes "con mucho amor". The birria del cordero (lamb) is delicious and the consumé is clean and perfect. The huevos perdidos is a dish you would get from that loving experienced abuelita who wants you to leave her home feeling full and loved. Enjoy! read more

This place does not disappoint!!! The restaurant is small and doesn't look like much but the food is ON POINT!!! We went on a Wednesday at 11am was pretty empty. Service was fast. The omelets and French toast were so delicious I was lucky to get a photo of the omelets before we inhaled it! Ask for the red salsa it has a good kick. read more

Came for lunch. Ordered ceasar salad, horchata fresh toast and chilaquiles and abueleta's hot coco. Everything was delicious 10/10, except the salad. Not a bad salad, just very basic salad with croutons and dressing. read more
Ok so we were out in the OC and decided to see what the hype was about this place. Small shopping center and we were a bit apprehensive but honestly it was simply amazing! Had to try the chillaquiles that they're known for. Wow! Not your moms style for sure but the rich green sauce and the composition send this dish over the top. 5/5 Next was the huevos divorciados! Again another traditional dish done different. Eggs cooked perfectly and the sauces were vibrant and flavorful. Lastly was the nortena omelet! Short rib was flavorful and juicy! Egg was fluffy and sauce again was amazing. Staff was super helpful and beyond friendly and were so eager to accommodate and help out. read more

Nice Ambiance - Disappointing Food The ambiance is very appealing, service is good and staff are friendly/polite. For Food I ordered the enchiladas and I did not expect them to be spicy/hot but they were. The flavor was lost because the sauce was so hot, I couldn't taste anything. To ensure I wasn't being a baby about the spice I had my friend try and she also commented about how hot it was saying I wasn't being ridiculous. The beans and rice were good also but that was barely anything compared to the entire meal. They did not serve you chips and salsa unless you ordered an appetizer which I thought was strange also. Overall the food was not worth the price and I would not come back. read more
Anepalco has become a frequent spot when I'm in Anaheim. I still say they have the best Chilaquiles I've ever had. I always get the Roja which is a nice mix of spice and flavor. The portion is large so you won't leave hungry. I've told so many people about the restaurant as it truly one of the places I love to go when I'm in town. I want to go back and see what else is on their menu, but for now give me their Chilaquiles and a peach iced tea and I'm a happy boy. read more

Anepalco is the place to go whenever you're not in the mood for traditional brunch food! Discovered this place by a happy accident one day when we showed up starving to Blue Bowl only to find that it was closed, so we decided to check this out next door-- low and behold, one of my new top brunch spots! There are two dishes that I'd recommend here: their signature chilaquiles and divorciados (huevos rancheros split down the middle by their savory red and tangy green sauces). My go-to are almost always the chilaquiles, but as it is a pretty carb-heavy dish, the divorciados are an equally tasty and lighter option. They have some more "American" brunch options too with a Mexican twist, like the guava French toast and a couple different omelettes. For such a lowkey, hole-in-the-wall spot, the presentation here is impressive and fairly up to par with a higher end establishment - these photos speak for themselves and are as tasty as they look! read more

Yes, however at the Main Street location it is a little bit cramped inside, however there is room for a stroller at the outside tables.
Do they have mimosas?
We don't offer Mimosas at this location, but on 3737 W Chapman Ave we do have a full bar.
Is it dog friendly?
Inside the restaurant is a little cramped for pets, but there are a few small tables outside.
