PSA Angelina bakery is not the same as Angelina Paris. Angelina bakery looks great but it's Italian and not the same spot as Angelina Paris with the famous hot chocolate. That being said, the hot chocolate at Angelina Paris is everything it's said to be. It's soooo good and I thought it would be too rich or sweet so I shared with a friend but I actually was craving for more! The egg croissant was also delicious! The eggs were perfectly soft scrambled and seasoned. I was very pleased with the food presentation and quality. The ambiance though could be better. The lightening could be warmer and the interior could be cuter. The photos on Yelp are brightened and it looks drearier in real life. Still, super nice to be able to have the hot chocolate without going to Paris. No reservations, walk ins only. Full party must be present.
Angelina Paris has this way of slowing everything down the second you sit. I went in for brunch ordered à la cart. I went with the eggs Benedict and the Angelina French toast. The Benedict was clean and rich without feeling heavy more restrained than most versions you get in the city. The French toast surprised me a bit; soft, almost custardy, with a sweetness that warms the heart. I've been a few times now, including the brunch prix fixe and the tea time prix fixe. Both feel like different sides of the same idea one more structured and savory, the other drifting into pastries, tea, and a quieter pace that makes you linger longer than you planned to. It's one of those places I keep going back to when I want something steady and unfussy, but still elevated. Amazing place!
Came here to celebrate my best friend's birthday on a Wednesday and it was the perfect choice, way more relaxed than what I've heard weekends are like. Plenty of tables, no crazy wait, and we could actually enjoy our meal while not being rushed to give up our table. Our server, JuanPablo, was great and helped us kick things off with a bottle of Sancerre, crisp, refreshing, and exactly what we needed to start the celebration. The menu leans heavily toward breakfast and desserts, with a smaller selection of main entrées. We both went with the steak frites and shared a Caesar salad. The steak was spectacular, super flavorful and the Caesar salad was good too. Now for the highlight: We had to try their famous hot chocolate and WOW... absolutely incredible. A must-order. We also got some macarons, and as someone who usually doesn't even like macarons, I was genuinely impressed, they were that good. My best friend was raving about this place afterwards and was so happy I chose it. It's safe to say, I made her birthday a great one!
Angelina Paris will never cease to amaze me. From the moment you walk in, the beautiful decor, and appealing presentations, pull you in. During this visit, I ordered a box of eight raspberry macarons. The box, alone, was worth keeping. The macarons were soft, slightly crunchy, deliciously sweet, and I think these might be the best in NYC. I will continue to allow Angelina Paris to impress me and is highly recommended.
Angelina's was a wonderful spot for peace and tranquility in the middle of the city. Two of our party ordered afternoon tea, two ordered the brunch menu and I had the croissant. Everything we ate was beautiful, well prepared, and tasty. Our server was attentive and friendly. And the restaurant itself was quiet, refined, and tastefully decorated. For the value, I think the brunch set was the best. It came with a hot beverage, a juice, a bread tower, an egg course, and a dessert for $55. The afternoon tea was delicious but much less food for $45. It consisted of a hot beverage, a juice, and a tower that included four mini pastries/sweets and 4 mini sandwiches/savories. My croissant had easily two eggs worth of creamy scrambled eggs topped with a wonderful melted cheese. Not your traditional English tea, but definitely a welcome spot.
Staffs were friendly. You can order the pastries to go in the front or dine in at the back. We dined in. We had their class Mont Blanc and their tiramisu. We paired it with hot chocolate it was very sweet. The water was a life saver! Desserts: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambience: 4/5
Food Hot chocolate: 10/10. We were freezing our little tushies off because the temperature was 18 degrees in January, and the Weather app said it felt like 9. What better way to warm up than with a hot chocolate? Made with real chocolate--whether it was wafers or bars, I couldn't tell, but definitely not cocoa powder. The drink was sooo rich, it tasted like I was eating melted chocolate. It felt like the drink you'd have on a cold winter day, curled up on the sofa, wrapped in a blanket. You know how hot chocolate tastes like brown water sometimes? Well, this version was phenomenal. It kept me warm during our 8-minute trek back to our hotel. Was it worth $9 for my medium-sized drink? Probably not, but I'll be back a few more times before we leave. Lol. Ambience: 10/10. Beautiful! Reminds me of Sucre', which is a boutique-style pastry shop back home in New Orleans. Service: 9/10. Service was good, but the server could've been warmer. It's NYC, so I'll take it.
Angelina's is located just off of Bryant Park on 6th Ave. between 40-39St. If you want the best French Hot Chocolate ever & pastries, this is the place to go. I normally don't have hot chocolate in NY because after having Angelina's in Paris, there was no comparison. Their hot chocolate is dark, thick & delicious & the pastries as well. They also have a restaurant in the back. The restaurant is beautifully designed, with marble & elegance everywhere. The staff is polite, friendly & accommodating. A nice place to go after visiting Bryant Park, shopping or just walking around in the area, especially on a chilly day or in the summertime. There's no season for good hot chocolate & some dessert to go with it.
We came by for afternoon tea. They don't take reservations but there was no wait for a table on a Saturday in January. We were using a Giftory giftcard for the tea and they knew exactly how to handle the gift card. The tea is typically $50 each, including small sandwiches, pastries and tea, coffee or hot chocolate. They were very accommodating to dietary needs and made substitutions for us. I had the hot chocolate which is famous here. Very good. The savory sandwiches were good but tiny. It is a little touristy here but we had a good time. They have two bathrooms in the back but there is usually a line for them. Service was very good and attentive.
Delicious hot chocolate! So rich and decadent- definitely more of a drinking chocolate than a hot cocoa. Rivals the No Chewing Allowed hot chocolate... I'm not sure which I like more! Both so comforting, sweet, and delicious! We also tried the red boule. Rather disappointing...it was basically just mousse with some sort of cakey base. I mean, not bad, just not my cup of tea. Very pretty to look at though! Came afternoon on a weekend and the wait was around 45 minutes for seating inside, so we just got the hot chocolate to go. Overall, I would highly recommend the hot chocolate at Angelina Paris!
During our NYC my wife and I went by many bakeries and knew we wanted to try at least one. While wondering around the pastries in the window caught our eye and we decided to go in. They are definitely smart to have such beautifully designed pastries in the window as it brought us inside. We already had breakfast so we opted to grab a pastry at the to-go counter. For those interested they offer restaurant table service. The staff were friendly and greeted us with a smile and excellent service. It was difficult to pick just one but we opted for the Tarte au Citron. Thankfully even though we were doing to-go they had a table right by the entrance so we could enjoy our treat right away. I will say it was delicious with a great lemon/citrus flavor to it. I did expect steep prices especially for the city and such a complex in appearance pastry. Overall I would say for the $12 price tag I would skip and look elsewhere next time.
Recently dined in at this beautiful restaurant perfect timing for the autumn weather. I was craving for hot chocolate, the first thing came up to my mind was Angelina. I love the place, it wasn't that big but it was spacious when we were seated. The staff were very very nice. The food were great and to our liking. I would like to come back for another hot chocolate this coming holiday.
Conveniently located at the heart of NYC --- well, it was easy to find. It's a small place and all the good stuff was in front --- pastries! Lol. They have a small restaurant inside, it's a bit tight but it was enough space to move around. They do not accept reservations, it was pretty full when my friend and I came on a Tuesday evening after office hours. Service was great! Small place but huge on service. Never felt rushed and we enjoyed our food. The hot chocolate was rich and full of flavor. They cannot do subs and I still tried it eventhough I was lactose intolerant, lol. My friend had the cold version. Went straight to the main menu; although I liked the texture that I ordered, it wasn't seasoned well hence 1 star less. Had to try at least one of the pastries and it was super good! Highly recommend to try this place.

When I come to New York, this is always my first stop. My flight landed late, and I was literally praying I'd make it before they closed at 7:00 p.m. Traffic was a nightmare because of the World Cup, but my sweetie was determined to make sure my "welcome back" included my favorite dessert Tarte au citron. Walking into this little gem feels like stepping into a charming Parisian patisserie without ever leaving New York. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and every visit reminds me why I call NYC my second home. We arrived at 6:55 p.m., convinced they'd be sold out. To my surprise, they still had exactly what I came for! I happily walked out with three Tarte au citron and a pistachio macaron just minutes before they locked the doors. I've only ever ordered the tarts because they're that good, so I can't compare them to the rest of the menu--but honestly, I don't need to. They are absolutely worth planning your day around. The staff is always kind, welcoming, and never make you feel rushed, even when you're one of the last customers of the day. If you're visiting New York, do yourself a favor and add this place to your itinerary. Trust me--it's worth racing through traffic for. read more

I have mixed feelings about this bistro. I was really excited to visit. I've walked past so many times but have never visited. The cafe is really cute with its wall art, fancy moldings and lighting. Service could have been better. I felt like the server basically forgot me. When he did check in, I was practically finished with my meal with only two bites left of my food. He also got my tea order incorrect which ended up a good thing. I really enjoyed what I was served. I think it was the Angelina mix infusion as this is the only tea with cinnamon and I'm positive there was cinnamon in the blend. The day was on the warm side and I wanted a light meal. I ordered the omelette. This seemed like the appropriate choice for a French bistro. Omelette was cooked perfectly and served with a side salad. I also ordered a croissant which was good but it hadn't been served warm which was disappointing. I ordered dessert of course, Coupe Jardin de roses. It sounded good and included a macaron. This too was disappointing. Very little "rose" in the dish and the macaron was replaced with a meringue. :( I did check out the store before leaving. The employee behind the counter was chatty and helpful when making my purchases. The Madeline's were to die for. Thank god the bag only contained 3. They did pair nicely with the tea. All was not lost with this visit and I will be returning for more Madeline's. :) read more

I came here for a hot chocolate fix one day after a rough day at work. My sister had once bought a hot chocolate and the rich and creamy taste of it has always stayed in my memory. I was not disappointed when I had ordered it and it changed my mood into a pleasant one. I was tempted by their raspberry e-clair visually but it was a bit stale so it didn't leave a good impression. I definitely will make this my regular spot for a cup of hot chocolate fix. read more
I stopped in for a croissant and hot chocolate on a weekday morning. It was not busy at all, which kind of surprised me. I got a pistachio croissant, which was quite nice. There was a healthy amount of pistachio creme, and the croissant itself was light and buttery. The hot chocolate was just fine. I didn't feel like it was anything special, which was kind of a bummer as I've heard that Angelina has amazing hot chocolate! It was really cold inside, so I didn't stay super long. We tried several coffee spots but most were very small and didn't have good seating, this place has both! A casual self seated spot up front and a nice sit down room in the back. Staff was friendly and everything we ordered we enjoyed. Inside is nicely decorated. Def worth a visit, read more
We had Angelina when we visited Versailles in 2017. We were not crazy about the hot chocolate and we thought the Mont Blanc was just ok. Almost 10 years later, we passed by one in NYC and decided to reminisce our traveling days before our son was born. We appreciate the Mont Blanc so much more this time around. The chestnut paste is excellent and the cream inside is so fresh mixed with the meringue base which gives the dessert a little crunch and texture. And typical Paris style, it comes in a very cool box and a pretty bag. It isn't cheap but if you were to treat yourself, this is it. read more

We came here for a brunch after visiting St Patrick's Cathedral. I loved having breakfast served in a tiered plate setting almost like a high tea set-up. I ordered Angelina breakfast with hot chocolate and it was so delicious and impeccable. My son ordered a sandwich which he also enjoyed. I appreciate their attentiveness and the service that they provided to us. The place has baked goods in front as you enter with lots of selections to choose from for takeout. Passing the baked goods area is the restaurant that is very nice and tidy. We also came back the next day to purchase the chocolate powder to take home. We will be visiting again whenever in NYC next time. read more
A beautiful parisian bakery with classic French desserts . The hot chocolate, its rich and not too sweet which i like. However I ordered the large and couldn't finish so recommend sharing or getting a smaller size. But for decadent chocolate lovers its all bets off ! Their macaroons were perfection & also on the extreme expensive side . The vanilla was my absolute favorite. Another heavenly chocolate pastry is the trocadero. Its a perfect combination of cream and crunch .I have also ordered the trocadero as a birthday cake. The process to order was quite quick which I appreciate however they said they couldn't do a customizable happy birthday chocolate sign because their chef was unavailable which was a little shocking for me. Decadent desserts! The hot chocolate is a must on a cold day in New York City. The spongy canella's, matcha tea and lemon zest citron desserts were quite enjoyable, while the eclair was on the average side. This place gets packed, so be sure to arrive early or have patience waiting in line to sit down. read more

Oh My Goodness. This place is amazing. Though you're in the heart of New York City, you step into a Paris Cafe'. The decor is charming and tables well appointed. The baked goods were amazing, the breakfast dishes to die for, the coffees were absolutely marvelous. Service was a far step above any place in the area. read more
The reason I am only giving 3 stars has solely to do with the service-- everything else remains 4-5 stars, as stated in my previous review (will also add that I definitely recommend the French toast, which was everything I want in a French toast-- it was super thick and fluffy with crispy edges, the brûlée sugar on top really elevated it, came with this delicious whipped cream on top and fresh fruit). The service however, I give 1 stars. I'll preface by saying I don't expect much when it comes to service-- you don't have to smile, you don't have to be friendly, you don't have to know the menu, but I do expect you to be professional. We were a party of 3 and wanted to just try 1 serving of the hot chocolate, split among the 3 of us, to start, with the plan of ordering more if we wanted. Our waiter gave us this really irritated glare when we told him this (he said 1 wouldn't be enough and to order 2). When the hot chocolate was ready, he only brought over 2 cups instead of 3 and didn't even empty the pitcher before snatching it away (in a massive dining space, we were the ONLY party who got their pitcher taken away; it's usually left on the table). I know he didn't empty the pitcher because when the waiter wasn't looking, I went back and grabbed it from the counter he placed it on, and there was still some hot chocolate left in it. The ironic thing is, we absolutely would've ordered a second serving but his attitude left such a bad impression that we decided to leave. It's also not like we sat down and only ordered 1 serving of hot chocolate total, we also ordered several entrees so don't understand his problem. read more

Met up with some old colleagues to catch up in the new year. They don't take reservations and already had a line for lunch at 11:45am. We ordered à la carte, sandwiches and eggs Benedict. Each came with side salad and sandwiches were beautiful (see photos). We shared one dessert (Trocadero), which was delicious. It's a bit pricey for lunch ($46 each including tax and tip). I was very hesitant to try the pistachio Mont Blanc but let me tell you, there's a reason why the original Mont Blanc is their specialty (smaller size and without the crust, have yet to try) and with this including the chocolate crust was such perfection of the right amount of pistachio flavor and sweetness with chestnut and crust. My new go to. Got the usual chocolate hazelnut one we love as well but now it's officially got a competitor for my top dessert here. The hot chocolate is such a classic, amazing same as last time. Went in to get three Mont Blancs and a hot chocolate. Total came out to $50. Despite me asking the female clerk at the pastry counter multiple times to please make sure the hot chocolate wouldn't spill because I would be carrying it in extremely cold weather outside, she placed it so haphazardly in the bag that it completely spilled over. She did not even offer napkins despite there being no line and her witnessing the spill she caused. The hot chocolate actually is not as delicious as the one in France, Singapore, or Japan, unless they offer a different recipe to go. Also highly unimpressive is their service, which is also (unsurprisingly) significantly outranked by that of the Angelina's overseas. Many companies could benefit from understanding how their brand suffers by placing it in NYC, where most servers behave as though they're doing you an enormous favor at their personal expense. I wouldn't come back here despite being an enormous fan of Angelina's for years. Update to the owner's response: There was no "advising" done, and the clerk placed the hot chocolate in the bag without any precautions. I really wish some accountability would be taken by businesses, but with responses like this, it's clear that will not happens and these attitudes turn off customers even more. read more

Good enough to be enjoyable but definitely not worth the money. I had the eggs benedict with smoked salmon, a croissant, and hot chocolate. I'm all for a little runny yolk but I believe the whites should be fully cooked, not just as runny. The croissant was normal. The hot chocolate tasted good, just thicker and richer than your average hot chocolate. Kinda like if you melted several chocolate bars and drank it. The service was alright. I saw so many videos online of servers elegantly pouring the hot chocolate or hollandaise sauce for the guests and that never happened. Maybe the other people asked. Very cute place though. I came for the hot chocolate and wasn't disappointed. It was smooth, rich, and sweet -- the perfect treat to have on a cold rainy morning. Tried this French restaurant over the weekend. I really enjoyed their scrambled eggs, they were velvety and delicious. My company had the Eggs Benedict and the Angelina Breakfast. The hot chocolate wasn't for me, it was very thick and too sweet. The service was fast, and the place was clean. It wasn't crowded when we went for brunch, so no lines either. I've only actually gone inside once around 830 and there was no line. I do pass here every morning and have noticed there is no line around tht time.
