The real issue, as reported by others, is the snippy attitude of the hostess. We were invited by locals to come on down for an early dinner, but were snapped at for not having a reservation. Pro tip: announce that policy on your Facebook page and website if you're that high-strung about it on an off-night. Absolutely delicious food and cocktails!! My partner and I started off with a charcuterie board. The honey and toasted almonds were gone so quickly. The cheeses that were on the board were creamy, smoky, and savory. I ordered the pizza with sausage and green pepper. The cracker tavern style crust was crispy and flaky. The cheese oozed off each slice! My partner ordered the ribs. Didn't think much for the potato salad, so would prefer steak fries. I had a Negroni and it was strong but flavorful. I keep giving Angelos a chance because it's been in the neighborhood for years! Unfortunately, I may be done ordering from them. Recently, I was able to pay for a delivery order that never came. Two hours later I realized they were closed. They did refund me the next day but why would the website even allow you to order if closed? Last night I put an order in for appetizer sampler, small pizza and wings for pick up. The order took over 30 minutes and despite the wait my food was cold. They included (not kidding) 2 whole packets of ketchup as sauce for that order... no ranch, no marinera, not even carrots or celery sticks. The sampler was thrown together into a to go plate and soggy. Seriously disappointing to pay $40 for a meal that even my stoned friends wouldn't eat. I was so hungry and sad. Oh, they also forgot the free 1 liter of pop for spending a certain amount. Icing on the cake was while I waited for my food, their staff enjoyed their dinner sitting at the bar watching the oscars. I heard about this place from friends and was excited to try it. It went above and beyond already high expectations. Excellent food, classy but chill atmosphere, fantastic wine selection, and super friendly staff. Everything I tried was delicious, but some dishes were almost addicting: the goat cheese and red sauce app, the mushroom risotto, the calamari (that sauce... ugh), the scallops (the freshest Ive had in a long time),... so good. The wine that we, thankfully, picked and immediately got the nod of approval was Red Schooner, which is a Caymus Vineyards wine. One of the smoothest finishes ever... loved it. I want to return so my husband can try it and sit by the cozy bar.... and eat order more risotto. read more

This place is a neighborhood gem. The food, the cocktails, the wine list, the service--everything is consistently excellent. The one time in seven years I had an issue--an undercooked meatball--the manager returned from the kitchen with apologies from both him and the chef, and an offer for a free appetizer. This is a family business, and you can tell they treat their staff like family too. Also, best thin crust pizza in the area, hands down. This is the fourth time I've been to Angelo's, the first three times were before 2020 and my wife and I so very much wanted to like this place. We decided after the third visit that the food was subpar and the drinks on the pricey side for this Albany Park spot. I pass by this place all the time and see that there's always a good amount of people dining at the restaurant. Flash forward to today, my wife and I decide to give a another shot, it's been a few years and they always seem busy! Well, unfortunately nothing much has changed. The food is mediocre at best. My wife got the seafood pasta; the sauce was tasty but the pasta was over cooked and a little mushy. I played it safe and got a burger- which I ordered medium and came well done and over salted, I couldn't finish it. The drinks were fine and the service was friendly, but not enough to get me to come back. Maybe I'll try again in a couple years. read more

So, here's what's going to happen the first time you go in...it's going to look really hip and trendy (the ambience of this place is awesome). Then you're going to wait by the host stand. And I mean WAIT. WAIIIIT, until you finally try to grab someone to ask if you can seat yourself, then you're going to get yelled at that you have to wait! When you finally get to a table, you're going to get a wine list with wine on it that is about $12 per glass (that's a special price), but when you Google the label, you learn you can buy a whole damn bottle for $10 at Binnys. So you skip the wine. I have had food from this place that's good. The sausage and peppers are good! But, trying actual dinner entrees is where we hit a wall. I had cacio e pepe so white and cold it was sad. Our Margherita pizza was poorly seasoned with weirdly sweet sauce. We are so close to spacca Napoli, just make the drive and go there. I think my real issue with this place is the attitude. I've had a few good dishes, more terrible ones, but they are all SO expensive, and I really think the neighborhood can do better. There's an air of unnecessary superiority that has no place in the restaurant world. If you wanted to yell at people and charge them out the ass for Binnys bargain wine and bad pasta, at least don't be a huge dick about it. read more

Not jazz, but Django style playin n singin by the 3 people entertaining the chill crowd. Great soothing harmonica n singing. Chill strings on the guitar by Jason Miller, too. I live down the street from Angelo's and am so thankful they are in the neighborhood. Most of the surrounding bars and pubs are more traditional and sporty, while Angelo's has a much larger variety of spirits, cocktails, wines, and delicious cuisine. The staff is extremely knowledgeable about the wine and cocktails, and very personable. They are also more than willing to adjust any menu items to fit dietary restrictions and allergies. I feel very at home with the staff, and the atmosphere is classy but comfortable enough to sit for a few hours and chat. A great date night spot or place to meet for drinks after work. I have not tried the weekend mimosa special but am sure it's divine. Definitely check this place out!! read more

We have been loyal customers for many years. Since we are in a pandemic, we get our order delivered. Since January, with the new menu, our orders have not been correct- little things, but wrong. Today, we were fed up and the woman who we spoke to cold careless. She had an excuse for everything. We told her what happened each time, such as no biscuits with our chicken dinner (her response: the menu was wrong), potato salad (no response), no pickles on the burger (sorry). And tonight...we asked for ranch for our wings (her response: you needed to ask when you ordered the chicken. I did! online!) Oh, to top it off, we ordered the chili calamari- no chili spice at all: dry as a bone. In the end, she was extremely dismissive. My husband and I went to Angelo's for the first time Wednesday night. The sommelier/ server was knowledgeable and welcoming. We enjoy different types of wine and he found a nice middle road option we both enjoyed. The steak was flavorful and well prepared. The pork chop, while well cooked, was a little heavy with the stuffing. We had a reservation and got sat at a high top bar table. It was a little tight with our dinner plates wine etc. The live music was really nice and added to the experience. All in all a really nice experience and we will be back. read more

We went there on a Saturday for brunch and were the only ones in there. I was told they're more known for their night scene and pizzas than brunch. With that said, it was oh-kay, overall. Between the table there was an omlet, a skillet, the Louis Louis sandwich, a cheese pizza, and a $9 fruit plate that consisted of five strawberries and a quarter of a pear. The Louis Louis sandwich was DELICIOUS... everyone else said their food was just average. For being the only people in there, I did think that it took awfully long to get our food, but it wasn't a huge deal because I was enjoying the company at my table. I was a little confused when my mom asked for a side of salsa and the server said all they had was cholula when my sandwhich clearly had pico de gallo (in other words, salsa) on it. But a request from another server for salsa like I had on my sandwich and they delivered. With all the great brunch spots in Chicago, I doubt I'll choose to go back to this one, but if you're looking for a spot that doesn't have a crazy wait time and semi-decent food, this would work! read more

My girlfriend and I come here every other week or so, and have yet to be disappointed. The staff is incredibly friendly, very helpful, and impressively knowledgeable about their wines. We always get a seat at the bar and describe what we're in the mood for, and whoever is working expertly matches the taste profile to what we'd like. The food is some of the most authentic Italian we've come across, specifically the cacio e pepe. The pizza is a solid Neapolitan-esque pie, and the rest of the menu is phenomenal as well. Found Angelo's on yelp. Been trying to go there for a while now but have not had a chance. So glad we made time for it because i think its going to be a favorite spot for us. The place is gorgeous even though I dont think it matches the neighborhood. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I had the old fashioned and the hubs had the chianti. The drinks were amazing. For food we tried the marinated olives which came free from a yelp check in. They were delicious but the portion was very big. The best part was the baked goat cheese. Holly cow was it amazing. The sauce had a roasted red pepper taste to it and the bread was grilled and drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette. So so good. Looking forward to my next visit. read more

I drive past this place on the regular and always wanted to stop in. From the road it looks quaint, classy, and cozy. My boyfriend and I finally decided to stop in last night and it did not disappoint! We sat outside under the twinkling lights on a quiet tree lined neighborhood street. The service was great, with our server being one of the bests we have had in a long time. Hard working, funny and helpful! Our food was excellent. We split a bottle of rose, had calamari to start (three kinds to choose from!!!), and split the "Angelo's" pizza. Prices were on par with quality of food. Entering Angelo's, you'll see a gorgeous granite bar, wood flooring with wood paneled walls. It's an exquisite and upscale restaurant with fine furniture and a cozy interior, along with TVs playing old classic movies while the bar played sports games. They even had a live band play Jazz. A welcoming owner who greeted us, it was definitely warm and inviting! The perfect atmosphere to sip a glass of wine while catching up with my girls. We wanted to try everything but we weren't that hungry so we didn't order too much. We ordered the Burrata Caprese salad, Gnocchi pasta, and Stuffed Mushrooms. We shared our meals and ordered a Bottled of red wine to go along with it. The friendly owner and our server were very well educated about the wines they carry and suggested some of their favorites. Throughout the night, the owner checked in on us to make sure everything was going smoothly. The food had a lovely presentation; it was delicious and not so heavy like your typical Italian restaurants with big plates. After the heavy holiday meals, eating light was needed! Angelo's has the best atmosphere and is easily one of my favorite spots for dinner and drinks in the city. It is incredibly welcoming and so fun. The staff is always friendly and attentive. It's accommodating for groups and also has a large wrap around bar that's great to post up at. These good vibes and stylish interior are accompanied by amazing food. My MO is to snag wine and a meat/cheese board to start. From there, the calamari is a must-have and shrimp scampi is perfection! The pizza is also amazing. Eeek! I'm so excited to have this place in my hood!! It was on the top of my Yelp list Friday night for nearby places so me and my husband decided to try it out...and wow. We were so impressed!! First of all a place like this was so needed in the neighborhood...we walked to a cute and cozy bar area where everyone seemed to be having a great time and greeted by the manager I believe...so nice! There was a 15 min wait for a table so we wanted to get a drink he asked us right away what we wanted and explained the wine list to us thoroughly...he took our drink orders himself and brought us back our wines...I had a Pinot my husband had a cab. I do think the prices were a bit high for the pour we got but the atmosphere and service was so great and worth it! We got our table had a great server! We ordered the burratta, meatballs and shrimp pizza. We could not believe how great the food was!! Absolutely amazing!! We are just so excited to have a place like this close by...rather it's just for a glass of wine or dinner. We were so impressed! It pains me to write this review as I have been to Angelos many times and have enjoyed their food and service. Ordered takeout tonight (Spaghetti Meat Balls, Burrata Margarita Pizza and a Garden Salad). I know restaurants are just trying to survive during this time and I try and support our locals by dining out as often as I can. I was not happy with Angelos tonight. The Burrata Pizza was a huge disappointment. The crust was dense and seemed as if it was pre-made and then frozen. The crust was tough, difficult to eat. There were maybe 2 slices of cheese on and there was 0 basil on it. The sauce was out of a can. I picked up my food at the prescribed time but it was cold when I opened the box at home, a mile away. The spaghetti was tasty, the portion was extremely small as compared to other restaurants in the area. I will not be ordering takeout from Angelo's again. read more

The food is great, the atmosphere and service are ok. My problem with Angelo's is that it's just very overpriced. For example, I live in the neighborhood and wanted a salad one night. I had had a very long day and was too tired to go to the grocery store so I ordered one from Angelo's and went to pick it up. With tax it was over $17.00. And they dont even give you a piece of bread with it. They charge extra for bread (which I did not get). The salad was fine, I honestly could have made 6 of the exact same salad for the price of that. The olives in it were not even fresh - they were from a can. Other times I've been there I have felt the same. The food and wine are good, but they charge way too much. And they were charging too much long before Covid. read more

Update! We finally had the chance to check out Angelo's for brunch. And...what do you think? It blew us away again!!! My boyfriend and I split the Cubano and the Seared Tuna Ahi BLT. The cubano arrived wrapped in wax paper, which is a very traditional way to serve a cubano. It was everything a Cuban should be. I loved the sweet mustard and pickles. My only qualm is that it was a little tough for me to bite through the prosciutto and ham. I did have food hanging out of my mouth because of this, but this didn't affect the taste! The BLT came on a crusty Italian loaf that was soft, but held everything on the sandwich. The bacon was QUALITY bacon. It was served with parmesan herb fries and a Tabasco ketchup, which is crazy, because that's exactly what I do with my ketchup. Basically, it's ketchup and Tabasco mixed. I was tempted to try a new drink, such as their bloody mary, but I insisted on getting the margherita again. I just enjoyed it so much last time. Maybe next time, I'll give another drink a shot. I've been to Angelo's more than a few times and this review is looong overdue. The vibe here is definitely to my liking. Rustic and cozy for dinner with friends or family, but also ideal ambience for a date night. The space is beautifully lit. The service consistently friendly and attentive. Big plus. For starters, there is a veritable buffet of bitters and spirits for your cocktail or elixir of choice. Have to say that the classic Aviation and Manhattan are my favorites off the menu. Both boozy and smooth. Kudos to the large square ice cubes btw! The wines by the glass are well curated and I've pretty much loved every single one we've tried. Food highlights: the white fish, beat salad, charcuterie plate and risotto. Actually I could spend most of my days eating their take on bolognese. Super flavorful and the noodles are done perfectly! And....the desserts. Large enough to share and always the best part of any meal in my opinion! Go for the bread pudding with a side of gelato. 5 stars.
