The bread was fresh and crispy but not impossible to eat and the pork had deep, Korean bbq umami that was soooo yummy. Veggies were great, too. Next time I'm asking for extra. I don't know what people are talking about with the jalapeños; they were perfect! Highly recommend the fresh rolls, too. It's clear they're made to order and the cucumber was so fresh and crunchy. tldr new viet spot on haight with unique (coffee) drinks, solid food + prices with an open kitchen and cute ambiance i live nearby so was happy to find a new viet spot since haight street food is generally not the best and overpriced. they are in their soft opening phase and u can get 15% off ur bill till end of Dec 2024! the food prices are reasonable for sf but drinks will set u back $6-9 with tax + tip grilled pork banh mi (4/5) ordered to go without cilantro. the place was busy and packed when i went but food was quickly made! roll was freshly toasty, grilled pork was amazingly tender and juicy, and fresh pickled carrots/cucumbers made it a great bite.....except my first bite was a huge piece of cilantro LOL would rec the biz more carefully check orders and provide some more vegetarian options since there wasn't many + good for the demographic that venture to haight in the short time i was in, the kitchen is open so i saw them grilling my pork fresh and prepping quickly for the busy crowd they had...this also meant the restaurant had a pretty strong scent of the food being made! it seems family run which is nice :) service is pay at the counter then find a table. restaurant was modern and clean but there really isn't a lot of seating. overall this place seems solid and i am excited to try other dishes!! read more

Solid new Vietnamese place in Haight and happy to see it here! Brightly lit modern place that would be perfect for lunch or a quick meal/coffee. The staff was really sweet too and very attentive. I had the banh mi, rice plate and tried their bun thit nuong and pho. The food here is solid, very standard Vietnamese food. I came during dinner time, but this is definitely a place for lunch or a lighter dinner. Prices were good too which is a nice change of pace from SF prices! ($10-12/portion). Comfortable, local place for a nice, quick, and tasty meal. The people who work here are cool too. For more specifics, I tried their Beef Noodle Soup and a few of their coffee drinks over multiple trips and with my boyfriend once so far. The soup is quite unique to other Vietnamese pho that I have had before. Angiday seems to put more emphasis on herbs in its soup rather than the traditional beef broth. In a way, it is like a whole new dish which I appreciate and do enjoy. One thing I do miss is having tripe and beef tendon, but they do give plenty of rare beef and brisket! My boyfriend tried their banh mi and similarly enjoyed it. I could not share the experience as my egg allergy would not agree with the egg butter used in it, but he noted that he would definitely consider coming here for lunch if he lived or worked closer. The only criticism he had was that he wished there were more pickled vegetables in it. As for the drinks, so far I have tried the Ube Hazel Coffee, Pandan Salted Cream Coffee, and Angiday House Special Coffee. I enjoyed the pandan one the most out of all of them. Fingers crossed they consider hot drinks in the future. Hot Vietnamese coffee is a favorite of mine. Good soft opening experience(Dec,05), the interior has a warmth feeling and aesthetic . We ordered the regular pho, the beef and bbq pork Banh Mi. No long waits for the food. The beef soup is flavorful I can taste the savory in the noodles unlike other pho places where only the soup is savory and the noodle is tasteless. But this Angiday pho is a different level to where the noodles has flavor. Great work on the soup! The food here is really good and the restaurant and ambiance is gorgeous and the service is great however from both times I've been here they've been consistently late to opening. The first day I went they opened about 10 minutes late but they were over half an hour late to opening on my second visit. Not sure what's going on behind the scenes to cause this. If you do have an opportunity to visit their banh mi is high quality and on point though. Definitely don't have to pay a visit to San Jose to get Duc Huong quality Banh Mi anymore! The jalapenos were chunks versus sliced which I enjoyed because I like it spicy. But be warned or ask for them to be sliced in the traditional way. Solid amount of meat and "veggies". When I saw that there was a new Vietnamese place on Haight I LITERALLY jumped in my car and drove directly over. First the good: SUPER friendly staff and service. Great ambiance, lighting and minimal, tasteful decor. A 15% discount during the "soft opening". Now the less good. They were out of MANY items on their menu. No stars off for this because that's what soft openings are for - - to get an idea of how much to order/make etc. My meh review is specifically for the vermicelli bowl, which is my favorite Vietnamese item, and I have ordered at every Vietnamese place in the city plus in every other state or country I go to--it's a fav and what I judge authenticity on. Well this one failed, sadly. Though the bowl and ingredients were fresh and crisp which I gave one star for, and the barbecued pork was rich, smoky and flavorful (another star), the fish sauce, which is the hardest thing to perfect and gets dumped over the entire bowl so either makes or breaks the dish, left a lot to be desired. Not only was there no heat to it (usually Jalapeños are soaked in it,) there was no nuance to the flavor whatsoever - - it was pure sugar and pure salt, and nothing else. Didn't really even have a fishy taste, which I don't mind and would have been preferable to the salt/sugar overwhelm. It tasted like they reduced sugar and water and then poured a cup of salt in it. I almost didn't make it to the bottom of the bowl. In addition, though at an Italian restaurant I would refer to their noodles as "al dente", these had a bit of a gelatinous texture to them. It wasn't that they were undercooked, it was more that they were weirdly gummy. Not sure if that's a brand issue or a cooking issue but it wasn't ideal. Lastly the imperial roll that they put on top is actually just your basic run-of-the-mill Chinese egg roll. It tasted fine, but did not have any "Vietnamese" flavor to speak of. I'm sure this place will stay in business as it was super busy while I was there, and since most people are probably going to order the coffee (which I don't drink) or the bánh mì sandwiches (which I don't eat), or the phó that they were out of, I would still give them a shot and see if your favorite meal is done well! read more

I went to Angiday tonight with my husband (Dec 7, 2024). They are still in their soft opening phase. Our original plan was to get takeout dinner for both of us. But as we started to look at the menu, my husband realized that there were no vegetarian options. So he went a few doors down to get pizza. We were definitely disappointed that there were no vegetarian options for him, so I deducted 1 star from my rating. I would love to see some vegetarian options, such as veggie pho, veggie spring rolls with marinated tofu, tofu banh mi, or a vegetarian vermicelli bowl with marinated tofu. This would allow more people to enjoy the restaurant. But since it's still a soft opening, the menu may change as they get into the rhythm of operations. But what I did end up ordering for myself was the pork rice plate and crispy egg rolls. Pork Rice Plate--4.5 out of 5--Overall, it was delicious. I loved that it came with a fried egg (nicely fried with runny yoke, just the way I like it!) and some shredded salad greens with fish sauce dressing. One minor complaint is that I wish the pork were more seasoned, but that may be subjective since I tend to like saltier foods. Crispy Egg Rolls--5 out of 5--These were similar to imperial rolls at other Vietnamese places but bigger. There were three rolls, and they were all crispy, nicely fried without being greasy, and with plenty of filling without being heavy. I won't comment on the service since we didn't dine in, and it's still a soft opening. But the staff seemed friendly even with the few more minor interactions--placing the order, observing the service with those dining in, and being called for my takeout order. The interior of the restaurant has been updated to be bright and modern, very different from the feel of the previous restaurant that was in its place... It's a nice change! I'm excited about this new dining option in the Upper Haight/Cole Valley Neighborhood, and I'm looking forward to trying the other dishes and coffee drinks on the menu next time! read more
