This place is amazing. Chicken is nicely flavored. My favorite is their French fry bowls, they are to die for!

The food is always great. But this will be my last time going in there, I just walked in at 9:30 pm, the gm Ethan was on the register. Zero customer service, not engaged, no hospitality, i could go on. When I asked him if there's a way to cut up the chicken, he said "the chicken comes how it comes, it's the recipe" he was really dismissive and i just said ok... i didn't know what else to say.... Me and my boyfriend come here a lot and we spend $35-$40 every time, but we didn't feel valued as a customer. Highly recommend though if Ethan isn't working, seemed like the other employees were stressed. There was another time when I walked in there and was greeted by Ethan, the gm. I usually don't get fries with my Angry Mac b/c of the fries getting soggy, he told me it's gonna be an extra charge if you get extra mac or chicken. My family agrees that this is one of the better executed Nashville fried chicken in the Sacramento area for sure. Fries and chicken tenders are fried to the right crispiness and dusted with enough spice to not leave a greasy sheen. Alternative carb options include buttered rice and mac. We ordered 3 different combos with different spice levels and they got the spiciness right on the chicken. The fries appear to be all on mild levels though. Yummy lunch. read more

Used to be The Angry Bird when I first tried it, and now it's Angry Chickz! To start, the cashier who was helping my family and me was very friendly! Very helpful and cheerful. She made sure to ask about the spice level for each item. I was able to use the Yelp check-in offer of one free tender between 1-4 pm. I overlooked that the "tender" is a chicken tender atop a slice of toasted bread with pickles, and ordered an extra slider on top of the #3 combo for 3 people...I would have ordered just the #1 combo and the tender in the future, as this would have been just enough food for us. The #3 combo included a slider, a tender, and fries. We ordered the extra slider and received a free tender. All items were "mild" in spice, which was perfect enough to taste the other flavors. I could see "mild" as being more of a medium at other establishments, so order accordingly! The slider is more of a standard sandwich size. The chicken tender was very tender actually! It was flavorful and juicy. It had a nice, hot, crunchy batter. There was a generous serving of coleslaw that offset the spice, and pickles. The tender is a chicken tender on a slice of bread, with pickles. Wished the tender came with coleslaw too, but I can see that being messy not having a second slice of bread. The bread was slightly toasted. The fries were battered and very crispy! It had a similar spice seasoning as the chicken. It's better than the crinkle cut fries they had in the past, and probably even one of the best fries I've had! Good LORD! I'm giving 1 star because we could not enjoy our meal at ALL. As soon as we got our meal, a man came in with his 4 very loud, whiny, and crying kids! Guess what?! MOM was a cook in the kitchen! She came out with a tray of French fries for the kids and as dad ( who brought the kids came in with a tray of Starbucks drinks for the kids) yeah! More chocolate to rile them up! There was an employee who took our order and he talks to the dad the entire time while dad left his 4 kids unsupervised. And carrying on SO LOUDLY! DAMN! This place went downhill. I ordered a meal for my lady and a tender with rice for myself. I only got one sauce for three tenders, a side of rice and fries. When i arrived to pick my order up, I asked the employee if I could get a couple extra sauces. She said okay and began to ring me up for them. I informed her that I only had my card and that I should be getting more than one sauce for my order. She said sorry and informed me that there only one sauce per order. I wasn't going to use my card for $1.50. I think after spending $30 for some chicken, an extra sauce shouldn't have been a problem. It's not a fancy or flash restaurant, but it's got a fun vibe. It's clean and has some really amazing murals on the wall. Low key, relaxed and comfortable, I could see it being a teen or young adult hang out spot, or a sentimental/tradition spot. I went in between lunch and school letting out, but it still had several people there, so I would guess it's a pretty busy spot during high volume hours. The food was, well, the Mac and Cheese was phenomenal. Creamy, cheesy and a slight kick. Definitely delicious! The chicken tender on my slider was slightly warm? Definitely not hot, (not talking spicy hot, but cooked hot) which made it easy to eat right away, but not sure what to make of that. I got my tender mild heat, and for me, there was no spice. (If I go again, I'll have to level up the heat level.) The cashier was kind enough to explain what the meal deals were, and the food came out super fast. Really good chicken! My friends and I went in for the first time the other day and well enjoyed it. We got 2 meals, both were the 2 chicken sandwiches and fries. You're able to choose 2 different spice levels (1 per sandwich) which is super nice because one of my friends and I like different spices levels and we shared a meal. We also ordered a mac and cheese to share between the 3 of us. It was not good. Noodles were very overcooked and it tasted like they just poured nacho cheese on top. This was a great lunch served fast. This is an order at the counter restaurant. I ordered the mild chicken platter that came with 2 sliders, mac and cheese and fries. The sliders were huge, chicken was perfectly prepared and de-licious!!! My husband ordered the hot and he was sweating. He likes spicy food but I think he said he will knock it down to mild next time because it was so much hotter than his comfort zone. OBSESSED with this place. So obsessed I had it two days in a row back to back. My love for the chicken outweighed my shame. I've had the XHot and Hot both are delicious. Hot was imo the better one. Not too spicy but not too mild. I had both the strips and sliders both were also great. Their fries are bomb their Mac and cheese is soooooo good also. Literally could not get it out of my head for days. The service is also great. Short wait times and associates are kind/efficient. If you're getting food to go don't be dumb and ask for the house sauce to go, it's by the soda and you gotta do it yourself. It's super yum though like fry sauce with a little twang to it. I wanted to try the extra hot and was warned not to as it is a significant step up in the fire butthole category. I had this place bookmarked forever, but it used to be called Angry Bird. We never made our way out since it's pretty deep into Citrus Heights. Ironically now that the Angry Chickz on Folsom Blvd opened last week, I noticed this one was renamed to Angry Chickz too. I'm not sure if they were bought out but it worked out for us - we still got to try Angry Chickz without having to brave the longggg lines at the new location. We arrived before noon on a Saturday and walked right up to order. We noticed the place got packed as we headed out, so I'm glad we beat the rush. Our food was ready within 10 minutes and we were able to enjoy our food inside. I went for the loaded mac with medium level chicken. I had no idea what it was loaded with but sounded amazing. Turns out it has the spicy chicken, macaroni and cheese, and french fries, my dream meal!! I liked the medium spice level, because it was flavorful still but had a nice kick. My husband had the hot level sliders and they were the hottest we've had out of the other hot level chicken at other popular hot chicken places in Sacramento. And another bonus, the sliders are HUGE! They're almost like two regular size sandwiches! If I had to compare it to my other current favorite hot chicken place, the fries itself are way better here. I liked the spice level more also. I would definitely come back more often if this was closer to home, but for now I'll just spread the word and tell people to come check it out ASAP! read more

My husband ordered the combo chicken tenders meal with no spice. I ordered the same with mild spice. The chicken tenders were very big and we found we could have ordered one combo meal for both of us. At first I thought the meal was dry as it was just the tender on white bread. After I found the dipping sauce (kept behind the counter) and honey I really loved my meal. Mild was perfect spice for me and made the meal different from other places. My husband was happy with how large and meaty the tenders were. The staff were polite and friendly and the restaurant was clean. It is built out like any other fast food restaurant to eat and go as the chairs had not padding but it was worth it for the enjoyable meal. read more

Welcome to the Angry bird. Where the chicken can be cooked with no heat or it can be hot as H E double hockey sticks... they say you need to sign a waiver. I believe them, cause the mild had some heat to it and then it has 3 heats above that. Food was delicious, service was great. Went during another round of covid-19 giving us togo only option for restaurants. The place was busy, but social distance was easily done. Food came out in a good time. Each tender was cooked perfectly and still moist. You can get the tenders as is, a slider, even on a sandwich bread, and finally over rice, oh wait one more angry fries. We tried them all the ways and each one was great. The mac n cheese was cheese-tastic! Oooey, gooey and with the big elbows. Definitely a spot to get your chicken fix weather you like it hot or not. My wife refused to join me, she was still upset from our visit a year ago. Pursuant to such, I'm really glad I came here today again. They really stepped it up in the last year. The staff was polite and helpful, there was more menu options, the price was better, and most importantly the chicken wasn't burnt to a crisp! I enjoyed my chicken thoroughly. I tried mild and medium and definitely noticed a spice difference. The chicken was cooked well (though one piece was a little over), and the rice was perfect. I am exceedingly grateful for the onion-free coleslaw. I enjoyed the pickles, and it was a great to get the free yelp tender. In fact, that's probably why I wanted to give it a second chance, lol. The quality of this spot has gone down in food use to get to big pieces of chicken on there sliders now only one. Also you have to pay for the sauce if you want more than one. Hmmm when u get 2 sliders you should at least get 2 sauces to go with it. Solid southern fried chicken place. Portions are solid, well made, fresh tasting, with excellent crispy breading and a variety of spice levels depending on how adventurous you want to be. Clean on the inside, place was pretty well staffed and they hustled to try and get everyone's order out in rapid succession. As we were coming here, a few of my friends had mentioned that the workers are pretty unpleasant. I didn't think it would be that bad as I'm someone who works in the food service industry myself. What I was met with was nothing short of disrespectful. As I frequently visit the other location on Folsom boulevard, I always get an angry Mac with extra Mac and cheese instead of fries; they get soggy and I'm not a big fan of them to begin with. To my extreme luck, a guy named Eduard took my order and let me know that they aren't "able" to give me a replacement of Mac and cheese for the fries- they could only take away the fries and give me a tiny bit more Mac and cheese. I paid $15 for this. The other location never did this and still doesn't, while filling up the food to the lid. (Btw the picture is after I stirred it, hadn't had a single bite yet) Halfway through my angry Mac, I spotted a short piece of hair on my food. I debated whether or not I wanted to deal with the unpleasant employees again, but was too disgusted to continue eating. I came inside and told them, only to get blamed for the hair as they asked me, "is there anyone sitting next to you that has short black hair?" like no, sir, you all have beards and facial hair that matches that color and I get blamed for it? Wear a damn beard net because that's disgusting. Eduard also asked me whether I had taken off the hair and placed it back on my food after eating it and I told him that- flat out, I mixed my food as shown in the picture and it was in the middle of it. How dare you question the customer and not even apologize for hair in my food. You guys are disgusting and stingy as you barely remade my food after whispering about me in front of me. If that ever occurred at the place I work, we would apologize and remake the food entirely- absolutely disappointed and irritated at the way i was treated here. read more

To start off with I ordered a Raspberry Ice Tea, since it's National Hydration Day and I was parched from the heat. It was both sweet and refreshing, I finished it pretty quickly! For dinner I ordered the #4, 2 Mild Chicken Tenders over a Buttery Rice, topped with Slaw & Pickles. I had never had this type of chicken before, but once I got over my powdery hands, it was pretty darn good! Dipped in their honey was were it's at, I had a straight up foodgasm in my mouth going, "mm mm soo so good!" It was the perfect combination of sweet and savory and the honey helped cool down the spice, which our cashier warned us their chicken is spicer than most! Order the Angry spice level and you have to sign a waiver, yea no lol! I loved the buttery rice and the slaw...WOW amazingly flavorful and I'm picky on my slaw, so that's saying something! I would recommend paying a visit, our portions were large, that's lunch tomorrow and the staff were both friendly and helpful! I'll definitely be back when I'm fixin' for some chicken! So the medium is extremely spicy..i understood then why it's called ANGRY bird. Definitely get something less than that if you are sensitive to spiciness. We ordered the two sliders which come with crinkled fries with some seasoning. The soda cups is one small size. I wish it was a larger cup bc let's be straight you need way more liquid to drown that spicy chicken and sodas are cheap cost wise. Nice find through Yelp as a nearby place for lunch. Family owned and operated, I discovered by talking to another customer. First time at this restaurant and will be back for sure. The name reflects that heat levels available to the customers, from country (no heat) up to Angry (VERY heat tasting). Being a wimp on spicy, I was "adventurous" with mild. Two tenders on buttery rice with coleslaw (#4 combo). Trade the slaw for the fries of my friend. The heat was a bit for me, but again I'm a simple taste person. The tenders were SO GOOD! Tender and juicy. Clearly freshly made. The butter is light and just right for tasty rice. It sticks just enough to easily eat with a utensil but not so that it feel gummy in the mouth. And you know....butter! :-) There is a LOT of rice or fries in the orders, so be prepared. Next time, I will ask for just one-third of the rice. These aren't sliders, I got two good sized chicken sandwiches and a mountain of seasoned fries. I got mild spice. I think I could have gone one level hotter, but not any more.
