Once again my family and I were on the hunt for some good chicken. My brother frequently gets his food from here so I figured we'd give it a shot. Their menu isn't very expansive so deciding what we should get wasn't too difficult. We ordered the Mild Angry Mac, Medium, and Hot #2 Combo. Mild had just a touch of heat and was very manageable to eat. Mac was cheesy and creamy, chicken tender and juicy, and fries were able to hold their crisp and structure underneath all that delicious Mac & chicken. Very filling! My son said the medium heat was a good heat where he could still enjoy his chicken without having to pant or sweat, lol. My daughter who can tolerate quite a beat of heat said the hot level was extremely spicy! For comparison, she puts the whole spicy packet of the pink Buldak into her bowl and she said the hot level at Angry Chicks was more than that! Both kids seemed to find the #2 Combo a bit underwhelming. We're hoping the next time we visit that the kids will enjoy their next meal a lot more. read more

I was a little disappointed with this place. The seats are pretty limited and they were pretty busy when I got there at 4PM on a Sunday. However, the staff were friendly and patient especially with my indecisiveness with ordering. I ordered a Slider and the Angry Mac. The slaw was lacking flavor but the sauce they had on the side made up for it. The chicken was cooked VERY well, so juicy and so tender but I didn't like the spice/seasoning. I ordered the X-Hot and it was pretty spicy but it was tolerable for my liking. Disclaimer: I do eat a ton of spicy food so my spicy tolerance is a big higher. Also, I did not like how the bun wasn't hot. It was actually cold but I think it could have been from the slaw that made it cold since a lot of the slaw was on the side of the slider and not in the actual slider. The angry Mac was the best part of the meal. Mahnnn, was it loaded ! I didn't realize it was going to be so big. It had chicken, fries, Mac and cheese and seasoning on top. I liked that you got to choose your spice level for that too. I decided to do mild since I thought I might need a cool down from the slider. This was a smart move ! It did exactly that. The person working the register lacked any display of welcome and worked at a snail's pace, while the back seemed to be hustling with the dinner crowd. I crave it at least once a week....BUT....the inside of this location has been smelling pretty funky lately. Have you ever walked into a store or office somewhere and it kinda smells like sewage? First impressions - Lack of cleanliness Sat down at only available table and noticed the table was sticky and had scraps of food, and FACIAL HAIR on it. It looked/felt like the table hasn't been cleaned for days. They were busy, so I just squeezed some antibacterial on the table and cleaned it. Later the ppl behind us must have had the same issue as I saw someone come out and wipe ONLY their table and head back into the kitchen. Customer service - lacking Server barely said a word and didn't even realize till I sat back down that I didn't even receive an option to print/text my receipt. Didn't receive an order number either. Customers had to wait by the front counter as space was limited as it was hard to make out which name the server was yelling from the back counter then walk to the back counter by the kitchen to guess which order is theirs. At one point, there were 3 orders called at the same time and because the server walked away, customers were opening bags of food and touching containers to see if it was theirs. Also not sure why, but the smaller food cups were all smeared with greasy sauce on the outside. Food - $35 + tip for two combos. Drinks not included. Decent chicken tender and fries but that's it. The sliders were definitely slapped together (see photo). Sliders come with a small 1/2 squirt of sauce. Buns were greasy and soggy on the outside. So glad I didn't order the $15 Mac and cheese bowl. Their mac was reminiscent of velveta bagged cheese sauce. After looking through the 5 star reviews again, I noticed many of them only had 1 or 2 reviews on their profile. My first visit and it hit just right! We were craving some satisfying comfort food and Angry Chickz delivered! From bowls, sammys and strips, all with your level of heat choice. My littles and I shared the country level tenders (basically no spice lol), and I also had a few bites of the medium spice level tenders. I used to be a regular at the Angry Chickz in San Jose. I got the FIRST TO REVIEW badge when I reviewed the San Jose store and that was quite the prize for me! The line to get in was wrapped around the strip mall. After the hype died down, I would go like once a week. My friend ordered MEDIUM and felt like she might go HOT next time. Chicken is tender and nicely fried and the Nashville hot sauce is on point. Fries have a bit of batter on them and were pretty tasty even without any dipping sauce. I've been to Nashville for the real thing and I have to tell you, Angry Chickz is just as good, if not better, than any Nashville Hot I had in Nashville. Yeah, I said it. Because it's true. California chefs have a way of taking dishes made famous in other parts of the country and even the world, and re-inventing them over here and making those dishes even better than the originals! My friend ordered the ANGRY MAC which is bite-sized pieces of chicken with the hot sauce, and fries, covered with a mound of Mac n Cheese. Honestly when the server described it it didn't appeal to me, but when they brought it out I suddenly regretted that I didn't order it. I got a taste and it was pretty dang tasty. TBH, the Mac n Cheese isn't anything to write home about - it's pretty mild, almost like a box version but it really goes well with the chicken and fries. If the the Mac n Cheese was too rich, it would take over the dish and the chicken wouldn't be the star of the show. It had the right balance flavor-wise. Sometimes fries are an afterthought but not here, these were definitely a delicious side. As for the slider, I was expecting a tiny slider but this one is almost like a full sized bun with a tender, pickles, and coleslaw. My son loves this place and has been trying to get me to try it so I finally did. We came in on a Saturday afternoon there were a a few people inside. Upon entering the restaurant looked clean. Cashier greeted us right away. I got the combo 3 I was going to get hot level of seasoning until the cashier told me it contained ghost pepper and so I moved down to mild. The chicken was good, fresh and hot but it could have been a little more seasoned to me but I like well seasoned food. The fries were well seasoned. The sandwich was good. We avoided the rush. The main order board was setup like you had to buy a combo. It didn't show single items which was misleading. We ordered the combo 1 and 3. I had mild spice and my wife had no spice. Our number was called just a few minutes after we sat down. You had to go up to the side counter and get your food even though we were eating in their dining area. They packed it up like takeout. You had to grab your own plastic utensils and napkins. My mild spicy sliders were great. Nice and juicy and not to spicy just the way I expected. The coleslaw totally mixed well. You get ton of fries. I guess my wife and I could have shared this combo but I was hungry. Her chicken was really hot and so juicy. It was weird that it had a slider and then a chicken tender on top of a piece of bread. I love angry chickz. This location is pretty big with a few tables. It is also good for late night eats as it closes at 11 AM. I've tried pretty much everything, and it is all delicious. On a cold day, I really like the angry Mac. There is nothing like a hot bowl of Mac and cheese, fries and chicken on a cold day! I also like the combo #4 - chicken rice plate. The menu is very simple. We got our food to go & I thought it still tasted very good. I do like that this place offers rice, so I went for that. The buttered rice was really yummy and paired well with the chicken tenders. The chicken was very flavorful and juicy. The only thing is that the pieces were not that big. I drove all the way from Fairfield for this so I was looking forward to eating what all the hype is about. The Mac and cheese was a major fail however, as a woman who knows her way around Mac and cheese, I didn't expect it to be of the best quality. However I won't take away from my rating. The kids agreed this is a solid 4.5 spot. Worth the drive and we were able to get a seat inside. Come early or you will be waiting in line, and it gets long. They do move quickly in preparing the orders. Food was good. I would get it again if I was in the area. My son said the HOT was not hot enough for him and he wished he had went higher in heat. Angry Chickz is just what East Sac needed. I am so happy they are open and are a hot new business. I've been here twice to find both experiences had excellent customer service and good food. I've had a little taste of my husbands combo 1 which are the sliders and I am a fan! I've also had the tenders and combo 4. The buttery rice is delicious! The mac is pretty good too!! I've been helped by the person running the register with tips and tricks for the heat levels on the meat. I've found as I get older, I need more milder food so that's what I've been sticking with. It you want a little extra kick, I highly recommend medium, as it is a perfect heat. Maybe anything above that is too much but then again it is all about preference! The parking might be tricky because this business is shared with 3 other businesses in the building but there's always street parking and you can walk. It might be a little bit of a wait time, especially in the line but they make the food fresh so it is all worth it and once the flow sets in, you are guaranteed to get your order within 10-15 minutes. The portion size is also big so either 2 small young adults or one really hungry person is what it will take to finish one. The combos are also a good deal. Came for the first time on a late night run with friends and I was surprised by how much I liked the angry fries! It is reminiscent of Kiki's chicken but by my books much better. The coleslaw comes in every meal here & the angry fries had a great flavor blend with the slaw & chicken & fries. The chicken here really tastes fresh and is cooked perfectly.
