I've been to Angry Crab Shack with my husband for dinner twice in a short period of time. Their service in both times was flawless. We ordered what we have made our usual at similar restaurants, shrimps usually with a tri/3 combination sauce, corn, a fish basket that usually comes with fries and drinks. Every once in a while, we may order an appetizer which is usually fried calamari. Ordering was easy. We were asked if it was our first time and on our first time, our waitress explained the menu to us. The food came out very quickly, we were impressed with the speed. The food tasted very good. I would have loved to give this place 5 stars but honestly, having tried a similar restaurant in the valley about 4-5 times, I still think they remain my favorite. What is different? It's the sauce and flavor. The first time, our food had way too much butter for my liking. The shrimps did not absorb the flavor enough so they felt bland. The second time I asked for less butter. The shrimps came out dryer yes but then again, they were bland even though I chose medium for my heat level. I think it would be great if they would consider increasing the garlic especially in their tri-fecta sauce. It has the potential to be superb, it's just more on the bland side if you ask me. Also, I think the food can use some more salt. One thing about sea food in general, if you don't salt it well, it loses its flavor. I still would say the place deserves my 4 stars and I would not at all discourage any one from going there but I have already established my favorite restaurant early on I guess. read more

For July's International Supper Club UYE we headed on over to the original Angry Crab Shack for some good ole crab boil! I love me some Angry Crab, I love how its just super casual and hands on and do get a kick out of wearing a bib lol I ordered some crab legs trifecta level 4 and asked for some veggies to be tossed into there and omg this was perfect! Monica J ordered the pacific rim sauce and that was pretty tasty I might give up the trifecta next time. Service was friendly and great, looking for something different go give them a try! read more

Still prefer Boiling Crab, but this is the next best thing for this area. Despite waiting 1 hour and 15 minutes, even though it was Valentine's Day, the food over there was good. Thankfully. Order a pound of mussels, 2 lb of shrimp, everything in the trifecta seasoning, number 4 spicy. Had some corn, potato, and sausage, and rice on the side. Tons of lime used for this, as number 4 spicy is really spicy. The spicy level does go up to number 6, which I'm guessing would be way too spicy. I would have been fine with the number three spicy for a enjoyable meal. Number 4 is probably the most I would tolerate for spiciness but less enjoyable due to the spicy but still edible at the same time, but you will need a lot of lime And water. In terms of the flavor, the trifecta is pretty good. But definitely still preferred The Boiling Crab everything seasoning as there's more spices or, I don't know how to describe it, there's just more pieces of flavor in their sauce and less over here. Shrimp was good. I would definitely not order the mussels again as it was just wasn't that good. Even the sauce that the mussels was in, which was supposed to be Trifecta, but just felt a little bit more dried. Not sure exactly why. Overall cost wasn't too expensive I think the total came out to around $40. Pretty good server and waitress. They do take a bit longer in terms of seating people down. But they do have a phone messaging / online time counter. Which was nice. But some tables took forever to be clean which delayed the service for everybody. And apparently you can make reservation as well, so maybe try that next time. I would definitely come back here for my Boiling Crab craving. Just make a reservation. read more

Been dining at AC for over 6 years - last night was a let down - the charred oysters tasted old (nasty after taste), the bread it comes with was stale , the trifecta sauce tasted different, the shrimp didn't look and taste the same - service wasn't the greatest - had to ask for water (at the end of my meal). Server came by only 3 times to check in and one visit was to hand me my lobster tail they forgot to put in the steamed bag - sorry to say but I won't be visiting again until maybe (MAYBE) the end of the year if that - need time to get the slight nausea I'm feeling from last nights meal - very disappointed - do you have new owners ? new food vendors ? There is nothing more satisfyingly primitive than crushing that crab shell in your hands, violently slurping down that tender crab meat, and licking that heavenly sauce off your fingers. The Angry Crab Shack turned me into a feral animal desperate to claw as much food out of that bag as fast as I could. They have a pretty good selection and the food is good. They service was pretty good as well. The only thing I didn't like is that the food came by the pound and you couldn't alternate it to a half pound. Other than that, I have no complaints. Side Note: They have a level 6 seasoning thats not on the menu that will knock your socks off! read more

I came for the deep fried oysters. It is our first time here and I did not know their oysters are Cajun so Erik bought them with regular breading and they were Amazing!!!! Awesome place, cool atmosphere, fun experience. The seafood is delicious and it's served in bags and buckets just covered in these incredible sauces. Everything comes in buckets and the tables are covered in paper. I've never been anywhere like this in Arizona. I'd recommend getting a bunch of the potatos and add on vegetables in your bag. It is fairly expensive so I've found it's most worth it to go with a group and get several sides and share several dishes. Great food and a unique experience! read more

I go here every month with my family. When we go we try to go on the weekdays and not weekends because it can get very busy. The cool part about this place is the writing on the wall and how they have the sinks on the outside, so you dont have to go into the bathroom to wash your hands after you're done eating. I am giving this 4 stars because I just wished they have a sauce that is catered towards Asian people since we LOVE eating seafood. I'm more disappointed than satisfied. My order: 1 pound of crawfish with 3 potatoes and sausage, sauce was the trifecta and at mild. 1 clam chowder 1 gumbo The sauce/ "flavoring" on the crawfish lacked flavor, hardly any salt and was extremely oily (which I'm assuming is the butter). The potatoes also tasted as if they were boiled in water from yesterday. Sausage was great and had plenty of flavor. Also wasn't given any lemons or lime. The clam chowder was great and had flavor but also didn't have that authentic flavor you'd hope it had. This also goes for gumbo, did not taste authentic but had a good flavor. Price was okay, $30 but I would of expected better flavoring. Customer service was great! They were friendly. Probably won't be returning and wouldn't recommend. read more

I'm so happy I stopped by Angry Crab for dinner this evening. They were a little short staffed, as a lot of businesses and understandably so. However, the service was incredible. Our server was Derek. He handled SEVERAL tables including ours with ease. Everything we ordered was exactly how I expected, hot and delicious! Derek didn't miss a beat and says he's at the Angry Crab much closer to his home and he's so happy about that. I'm so happy for him. Told 5 people in front of us. Then we heard someone else ask, they were told 5 people. We watch people who came in after us be seated. Then the people who were told 5 people in front of them, got seated. When asked again was told 3 people, we left very angry. My advice, when you put your name on the list, take a picture of the waiting list. We believe the hostess and manager changed the list to satisfy a customer they felt needed a bump up. The Angry Crab Shack is a great spot to get some Louisiana-style seafood! I wholeheartedly recommend going to enjoy the incredible seafood boil. While I was here, I had one of the best moments; it felt like home. It is excellent to invite everyone, even those who do not like seafood. The cuisine is highly diverse, with different sauces to accompany it. They also put foods on the menu that do not contain seafood (great for non-seafood lovers). Oh how they have changed over the years. They no longer seem to have/serve fresh Crab. One of us can have any spices & therefore, they made an exception to serving it just steamed/broiled. However, they seem to be out of crab everytime we visit. Servers were always smiling & friendly. It went from the best to just an average service. Our drinks were always topped off and we were consistently checked on.. which was a huge plus! Food wise: We ordered several pounds of shrimp, crawfish, and clams via TRIFECTA FLAVOR (Cajun, garlic, lemon) with couple sides of rice. To be honest the flavors were sort of bland, which required me to request some extra salt and pepper on the side for dipping. The pound of clams came with quite a few empty shells but they were able to bring out another bag to make up for it. We started off with some onion rings and Cajun fries, which were good. So... I would have to rate this place a 3.5 STARS. Potential for a 4-4.5 if the sauces were more flavorful. read more

Unfortunately underwhelmed by this place. I feel bad leaving 2 stars, but if I compare it to some of the 3 star places, I don't know if this stands on the same level. I guess where it was kinda my own fault is that I went with a small group that wasn't hungry and didn't all love seafood. Based on my past experiences at these kinds of restaurants in Socal, the ideal situation is a large group of seafood lovers so you can split and try everything. That being said, I still wasn't impressed. We got the blue crab in mild trifecta sauce with corn and potatoes added. The non seafood lover ordered fried calamari. I likes the corn and potatoes when I dipped it in the sauce, but the crab just wasn't doing much for me and was pretty bland on its own. Fried calamari was also a little over breaded. It tasted good, but just...Wasn't that great. Where I drop it a star is service. I was really excited that we were seated so quickly after 3 different hosts asked us within two minutes if we'd been helped. That's where I had high expectations. Once we ordered our food, we got it quickly but had nothing to eat our food with. We asked our server for bibs first and once we got those we realized we didn't have seafood crackers. When I asked if we could have our crab cracker things, our server said the restaurant was low but she would check for us. That's....strange to me because how else would we crack into our whole crabs without anything? I guess we could get by using our hands only, but doesn't take away from how bizarre I think it is that a crab restaurant would be low on seafood crackers...I thought maybe I was just being picky, until I saw the table seated next to us that arrived after had all their bibs/crackers BEFORE food arrived. So I don't think I'm being unreasonable... On top of that, I had to ask separately for hand wipes even though our server came asking if we were ready for dessert. Hand wipes in a hands on crab restaurant also seem pretty standard. Idk. Didn't sit right with me, and I say that after I really really tried to like this place. If you have a party of 10 and dine in on a Friday evening 2 hours before closing, you might as well turn around. ..especially if female manager, Robin is running the shift. Apparently, her idea of proper management at this establishment is cutting servers early during a busy Friday evening, while during a rush! She is not afraid to make you feel unwelcome. To make this short, the hostess estimated our table to be ready in 45 minutes (at 9:20 pm), however, we were sat after 1hr (10:24 pm) and did not receive any concern or accommodation from the manager. We quickly addressed our disappointment to manager Robin after seeing 10+ customers being sat first, who arrived after us, but her lack of care for returning customers was on full display with "eye-rolls" and countless reasons to defend why she didn't feel concerned. If this sounds like the type of service that you are looking for on a nice family gathering, this is your spot!! ..Don't be surprised if they have the audacity to throw on an auto-gratuity charge of 18%+. This must be Robin's way of ensuring that you return as a guest. Food is great, management needs some serious help. Poor servers! read more
