If you want a Cajun seafood boil this is a great place to go! They offer 1 pound options but I recommend the 1/2 pound since it's cheaper plus not too much food so you can get multiple types of seafood. Recommend getting it with the trifecta sauce (garlic, lemon pepper and Cajun). Medium-2 for those who like spice but not stinging or mild-1 if you just want the flavor! They do have the option of no spice at all too -0! Definitely messy but they provide plenty of paper towels, a bib, and a pair of gloves. The service was very nice and definitely a staple in this part of town. We also got the gumbo which was yummy for a good price. have passed by this crab shack for a few years and we finally decided to go last week . i grew up in new england and spent 40 years on both atlantic & pacific coasts and made a living fishing for cod ,salmon and shellfish = lobster, oysters , clams , mussels & crabs . i have lived in phx. for the past 20 years , and wanted to give the crab shack a little slack knowing we live in the desert , but still expect reasonably fresh seafood here cooked properly. wanted to go for lunch , but this location does so little business , they do not open until 3pm. . ok , so we went on a tuesday. looks like capacity is 100 or so , at 4:30 we were the only customers there [we were about to find out why ]. first the good = the waitress was friendly . that's it for the good . the bad = for appetizer we ordered 6 grilled oysters for $16.- two of them were smaller than your thumbnail , the other 4 i'd classify as small. all were flavorless . $16.- ? a massive ripoff . for entree ,my wife ordered shrimp and crab special bag combo , i small red potato ,1/2 ear of corn , 1/2 lb. shrimp and 1 snow crab cluster, = $35.- potato wasn't cooked enough , shrimp and crab were edible but forgettable . for entree i have been dying for good softshell crabs ,so i ordered the softshell crab basket , $18.- which stated 2 breaded crabs which comes with french fries and 1 side .i chose coleslaw . i also ordered a side of onion rings. the breading ? on the crabs was unidentifiable to the taste but looked like cornmeal , the crabs were way undercooked and were wringing with oil , horrible garbage ate part of 1 and that was all i could stomach , the $6.- onion rings were hot circular oily and tasteless .the french fries were the highlight of the meal ,as they were at least edible. so for $80.- plus tax and tip , we got about the worst attempt at a "seafood " dinner. yes ,we left a good tip for the waitress as none of the horrible food was her fault. when we got home we both felt a bit queasy for several hours. instead of going here , we suggest you just throw your money in the toilet and save your time and gas $. as i said in the beginning - at 4:30 on a weekday afternoon in a highly populated and travelled area of phoenix , we were the only customers in a place that holds 100 + . it cost us about $100.- to find out why . no more of this franchise " seafood" restaurants for us. We had a wonderful time at this restaurant. In general not fans of chain establishments, this surprised us. The staff had a great vibe, high energy and made our visit easy. We like to do early dinner as to avoid crowds. 3-4pm was just perfect. This is probably the closest Louisiana cuisine that is similar to the distinctive quality and taste served in a Louisiana "Bayou restaurant" that you will ever "luck up" and find in Arizona. Almost curry like in consistency. We also had fish & chips (average--too much breading) and lobster crostini (will try this again). This is only my opinion. First of all my soft shell crab was good however portions were small. Now I know that I am in Baltimore. The clam chowder Boston Style was just OK. It lacked seasoning. No line or wait for a table. Party of 8 (7 adults and 1 ten year old). Server was polite at first, then her words made you feel like you were less important than the other customers. Each time we asked for anything: another appetizer, refill on drinks, extra napkins- the server's response was ALWAYS a reason why she would be delayed. We are a patient bunch. Her "pre-excuses" just made it feel like she wasn't going to try her best to serve us. It's unfortunate, we ordered a ton of food. We are great tippers, but after about the 5th refill and pre-excuse, our experience just went sour. My cousin is a regular there, she was so embarrassed about our experience. Our food showed up but we had nothing to eat with. No bibs gloves napkins utensils for shells. Our server STILL never returned. He must've walked by our table 5 times and never stopped. I went here to eat because my friend likes this place but I didn't have a good experience. I'm going back to eating at Hot n Juicy. Their crab legs suck! I ordered snow crab legs, they didn't give me anything but scissors to crack the crab legs open with. The shell was too soft and the legs were smaller than what I'm used to. I ordered a egg, a corn, and a potato in my half pound of shrimp and they forgot my egg. The service is terrible, the waiters don't really pay attention to you or listen. When I ordered more seafood they brought it in a to go bag. I didn't ask for the seafood to go, why would I want it to go when I sat down at a table? Mom and I celebrated Mother's Day on Saturday before to beat the crowds. Seated promptly, server came right over. Explained the menu, gave us time and came back with drinks. Kept up with refills throughout the meal. Pleasant, but not super effective. My heads-off shrimp boil with veggies came out a full 15 minutes before mom's fried shrimp platter. My trifecta medium was pretty hot for me. But while I was there, someone ordered the ridiculously hot number six, where no refunds are offered. The whole staff sang and rang the fire bell as it was delivered, pretty cute. My shrimp was plump and cooked perfectly, vegetables including cauliflower broccoli zucchini and carrots. Also cooked just right and drenched in trifecta sauce. I wasn't offered gloves until I was up to my elbows in sauce, and burning my fingers to peel the scalding shrimp. I am not a big fan of eating them out the bag using my hands. They should at least provide wet wipes at the end of the meal. Mom said the fried shrimp were excellent, and she enjoyed the french fries. Not sure if these fried butterflied shrimp were hand battered, or came from a freezer bag though neither should explain the wait for this dish in a slow restaurant. I love their salmon bowl w pacific rim. We've eaten here multiple times. I've not ordered take out until now and won't ever again! I ordered sauce on side easy rice more veggies on special instructions. NONE of the special instructions were followed. It wad a $75 order and when I asked if sauce was on side his response was no it didn't say that. I said I wrote it in special instructions. They didn't even offer to fix it. Goodyear location on Litchfield. Some of the best seafood I ever had. Lucked out by getting Tommy and Pat behind the bar. Tommy is a great bartender and Pat may be the best server I ever had. We went for dinner tonight. First off the angry edamame is an amazing appetizer (and I consider myself an edamame snob.) We also for the 5 cheese crab and shrimp dip, that was a very decadent treat! I was craving soft shelled crabs (I am from Maryland) they were not my favorite and definitely not like home. They were pretty small and didn't have any seasoning. I was able to fix them up at home with a bit of old bay. However the real issue is they were fairly greasy. My husband got the lobster rolls and they were tasty. They weren't smothered in mayonnaise which you sometimes find. All in all food was good and affordable. I would recommend and will be back for sure! read more

Our waitress Pricilla was friendly informative and answered all questions and made some thoughtful suggestions . We ordered a couple drinks and she gave us ample Time to make up our minds . My lunch date ordered king crab legs , sausage and lobster tail boil , I had the double lobster roll . Both were delicious and filling . Horrible. Went for wife's birthday based on public reviews. $240 for 4 of us is insane. A friend had a lobster and was told it came in less than 2lbs or more. Wasn't told the larger was a 3lb lobster for $75.00. Food was hard to eat and generally bad. "Clam chowder" was more of a thin potato soup, didn't taste 1 clam. Held a Birthday gathering with a party of 9. The review of 1 star is high for the service we received. 6 Appetizers ordered And then we had to ask for plates. Drinks were slow to arrive the server had other tables we get that. Dinner of our steamed crabs arrives. Then we have to ask for more plates, silverware and Utensils to open the crab with. We finally got scissors but there was nothing else available to use because they were all in the dishwasher. To have to ask for simple things like plates and utensils is beyond me.
