Men's bathroom walls had some sort of nasty brown stuff on the walls. I will never eat there again. Wouldn't send my worst enemy there. The cheese steak sub was basically over cooked steak-ums. Moved to California 3 years ago and no one can make a decent thin pizza... still looking haha... when I lived there I thought it was okay but now that I have to resort to mountain Mikes (ha!-sarvastic) I truly miss a good pie. Me: I'm so excited I'm going to be passing through Corning. I'm totally going to eat at Annie-ellos! My friend: It's Ah-kneel-ios! ************************************ I'm pretty sure my friend is right about the pronunciation but I still say it wrong anyway perhaps because I think my way of saying it fits more with the personality of the place. So the pizza here is thin crust which kind of tastes buttery and is more on the crispy side. You can actually taste the mozzarella very distinctly and the toppings are generous and fresh-tasting. Having come here 3 times and having tried most places in Buffalo (where I live), it's really refreshing to taste somewhere so uniquely different! The only thing that comes close to this is my friend's homemade pizza with homemade dough. It's pizza probably best enjoyed with a glass of wine. The people who work here are pretty curt in their communication, I think because of how busy they usually are. You can't completely blame Parisians for their rudeness. I mean, if you were continually bombasted with an onslaught of Americans asking you where the bathroom is in a slow voice like you were their grandpa with hearing aid running at full whirl, you might oscillate between saccharine and a hormonal teenage dragon. Annie-ello's isn't Paris but they are an attractive destination where people usually come in a hurry. Actually though, the service I've encountered has been really nice but I did I have one story to close with. We had two slices left but a disproportionately large box for our packed car. So I approached the counter and stood there (my way of saying, "Here I am, please help me!"), at which point I began thinking the protocol in an Italian-esque institution might be, "If you need something, speak up!" My German blood makes me run shy in Italian places. Someone finally saved me and asked what I needed. I told him about my pizza box dilemma to which he replied generously, "Here, give me the box." He proceeded to put my two slices on a paper plate and then try to shove slices and plate into a small brown bag. He was having a little trouble getting them to fit for obvious reasons. Thankfully he didn't see my quizzical expression. He was so focused on finding a way to get the slices to fit. Finally he folded the slices up and when I looked inside the bag after thanking him and walking away, the slices looked like they were stuck in the jumping jack up position. It's difficult to order, the pizza crust is tough, and orange grease drips off when you start eating a slice. In all honesty the hot subs are better than the pizza. The cornerstone of Aniello's is their dough. They have probably the best NY style pizza outside of the city. Their chicken wing sub is the best on their menu. Happened to be in Corning and found this place a block or so from our hotel. To quote my wife... "This is the best pizza I've ever had". We got a pepperoni pizza, the chicken wing pizza and an antipasto. All were excellent... nothing fancy just really, really tasty. They claim to be NY PIZZA. cheese is dry and salty in the areas where the cheese is clumped in spots. Tomato sauce tasteless and chunky. Dough is undercooked but not soggy. Vegetables are sparse. Chefs salad used old lettuce. The place is clean so it gets a star for that. read more

Aniello's is my go-to pizza place in Corning. We've been there many times and have never left disappointed. The pizza is above average on the whole, although be careful which toppings you order - the ham seems to leave the pizza a bit soggy. But other than that, it's great, particularly with the fried eggplant topping. The garlic knots and sandwiches are good as well. The only menu item I haven't been particularly happy with is the salad, which was just chopped iceberg lettuce with lunchmeat and cheese bits thrown in. The restaurant itself can get noisy and crowded, so it's better to avoid the place during peak hours (e.g., Friday nights).
