Upon entering another couple was leaving and said good luck getting served. We still took the chance. We got sitted and decided to order drinks and the food at the same time due clear indication of being short staffed. The food came out but not our drinks. A bar person came over asked us what drinks we ordered. He left the table and went over to hug another worker and never made the drinks. We ate our food and called him over to say we don't want the drinks and we need the check. Finally I just said I'll walk the check over to another server so we can just go after a few minutes. We paid, was given a receipt but no pen to sign. We waited for the server that out in our food to come back from helping another customer and we asked her for a pen and gave her a tip because we had a good experience with her. She greeted us from the start. The food was great! The atmosphere would have been great is the service was matching. At one point there were no one was on the floor serving. At one point one server was yelling to the kitchen talking to people in the back. Just loud. No one was rude, but they seemed to be more excited to talk to each other and be long winded with customers who already had been serviced. This is my second time coming here. First experience was great. Today we were sat and waited 12 minutes and no one checked on us but a server was servicing other customers who were sat after us. Asked the hostess and she seemed a bit confused on who our server was, she mentioned the name Jasmine. We waited another 5 minutes and the server who was in our area assuming Jasmine starting waiting another customer who was sat after us. We decided to leave after that point. Good breakfast spot that's worth its cost. Hotel was right next door to this location and went there instead of thé processed crap you get now in hotel breakfasts. Our server was a little on the new side and didn't know how to right up my make tour own omelette so I just had eggs, bacon, grits, and a biscuit. All of it was good. Washed it down with some Juice. This used to be one of my absolute favorite restaurants. But over time, the service and general ambiance has declined. My last visit was honestly very poor. Other guests were very loud and lowkey ghetto. The floor and my seat was GROSS and the service and food could have been way better. We arrived at the restaurant at 7:10 to locked doors, despite advertising being open at 7 AM. Once we were seated, we were informed that our server would not be able to take our order for 10 minutes. Approximately 35 to 40 minutes later, she actually did take our order. Once we placed the order the food took over another half hour to come. My omelette was luke-warm but not hot although the flavor was excellent. An hour and 20 minutes for breakfast is ridiculous. We were not offered any type of compensation for our extensive wait, although our server was apologetic. We started frequenting this establishment several years ago because of their outstanding reviews, but noticed their reviews have fallen as of late. It is obvious they are having staffing issues, and we may or may not ever return. We would recommend not going here, unless you have an extensive window for breakfast. read more

Very disappointed in my breakfast this morning. Omelet was not what I expected. It was simply scrambled eggs and didn't have the consistency of an omelet. Also... we ordered the 100% freshly squeezed orange juice for $3.99 only to watch the waitress pour it from a clear plastic labeled container (like Tropicana) at the bar that I can purchase at the grocery store for probably $3. When we questioned this, we were told that the freshly squeezed orange juice "wasn't selling" so they don't do that anymore. If that's true, please adjust your prices and your menu. read more

Had our first experience here on a recent weekend, and I gotta say being an ABEC newbie has its' benefits. Free biscuit beignet benefits! Complete with Honey/Orange Marmalade. Just sayin. Glad we told our friendly Server Gal that it was our first time! Note that they are indeed thicker than a doughnut-type beignet, and also less sweet, which meant dipping in the sweet marmalade made them pretty perfect. Husband chose the Hey Lucy Omelet: with avocado, breakfast chorizo, sautéed onions & green chilies with Cheddar-Jack. Sour cream & salsa on the side along with Potatoes. He was very happy with it. I had to try the Crabcakes Cavallo Benedict, and trying to be good (yeah right after the biscuit beignets...rolls eyes), chose sliced tomatoes instead of the potatoes. Also used further restraint and didn't eat my english muffin. (Okay, okay...Never mind...yes, I know what hollandaise is made out of!). Let me just say...excellent crabcakes...very little filler, perfectly poached eggs, rich and yummy hollandaise...mmmm! Husband was very happy with the quality of his coffee (not an easy thing to accomplish...he certainly drank enough of it), and I was fine with my iced tea. Service was very good. I will say that the layout of the place made us feel a tad sorry for the hard-working Servers in that it is designed in a way that makes getting around a bit difficult. You have to dodge folks to get to the bathroom, for instance. Nice though that they have every type of seating available...tables,booths, bar stools and outdoor patio. We heard them say that the wait for outdoor seating was 35 minutes, for instance, while there was plenty of room inside. We're happy to be inside-sit-right-away-folks! read more

We tried to eat here with a party of 7. The guy at the counter refused to seat 7 even though the place was half full. They just didn't want to have a part of 7 40 minutes before closing. The service here is consistently bad. read more

We joined the wait list about 12 minutes away from the restaurant. When we arrived, we were seated. The bar tender "lost our ticket," so the drinks took a while. The silver wear was ditty. After two sets, they gave us plastic utensils. The food was AMAZING. read more

Let me say I rate Another Broken Egg Cafe 3.5 stars. It's a little bit above average but not outstanding. We were in a reserved room as we were a group. Even with the door closed the place is noisy, which is fine if you are not trying to have a meeting. Service was ok, not slow and not quick and the food was nothing special. Big Ed's and Briggs are two off the top of my head that I think have better food. Location is great in North Hills but the prices reflect the high rent district. read more

After a doctor visit in the area, my guest and I decided to go here for lunch - especially when a parking spot opened up at the front door :) We were promptly seated. Liked the decor. This breakfast/brunch/lunch restaurant is not your average "two eggs, bacon, toast" breakfast place. While that is one option, most offerings on the menu are more unique. However we were there for lunch, and both of us ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. It comes with bacon, tomato, and lettuce and served with your choice of side - we both selected a bowl of grits. I added pepper sauce to my sandwich. Nice sized sandwich with a flavorful grilled chicken breast topped with thick wonderful bacon. Was a little disappointed with the grits, which I was hoping was similar to the stone ground grits that I've had at the FATZ cafe chain. I will probably return again when I am looking for a more special breakfast place. read more

I've been wanting to check out this place ever since I moved here, well today was the day. I was surprised that at around 8 AM on a Saturday morning, they weren't packed (they open at 7). However, the host sat a family before me & I waited patiently until a waitress came up & walked me to a booth. She ended up taking my beverage order (coffee). She came back pretty quickly & took my order of "the supreme omelet" & I opted for grits, instead of the standard "country potatoes." SN: why are shredded hash browns hated on at restaurants? I have a hard time finding them anywhere. I waited a little under 10 minutes for my meal & another waitress brought it out. It looked & smelled amazing! The omelet was fluffy & the sausage, bacon, onions, & mushrooms was so flavorful. The grits were hot & really creamy. I was never checked on until I completely finished my meal. When my waitress came by, she asked if I wanted more coffee, to which I said "no", & then she walked away. At this point, I needed my check & was ready to go. She came back by & asked did I need anything else & I said, "no, just the check." I had my card ready to give to her. She was quick to run the card & come back with my receipt. Overall, an ok experience. The food was delicious, but the service could use improvement. I love the menu selections & the prices are reasonable. Parking is good, especially with nearby parking decks. read more

Today was my first visit to this cute breakfast/brunch cafe in Midtown North Hills. The cafe itself has plenty of table and booth seating + patio and bar seating. I ordered the shrimp and grits. Spicy and yummy! Loved that there was andouille sausage in it too. I wish the grits were a little less done but overall I still enjoyed the dish as a whole. The customer service was great. Our server was very attentive and cheerful which is always appreciated. I'd definitely come back! As a treat though because I typically don't like to spend $12-15 dollars for breakfast entrees (no matter the time of day..) read more

Came here for brunch on a Saturday with friends. There was no wait for 5, which was pleasantly surprising. Overall the food was great, the service was sub par. It just seemed like there was a lot going on, and the staff was scrambling. I did very much enjoy the poached eggs with the smoked salmon. Yummy deliciousness! This place is the best for breakfast. We arrived around 9 o'clock, and there was no wait. As time went on, it got pretty busy before 9:30. We ordered a Mardi Gras and a Lobster and Brie omelette; THE BEST! We received generous portions, and we didn't have to wait too long before we were served. Party of 6 - got seated pretty soon 10:18am and our server did a good job he was very kind and funny but waited 1 hr and 45min for our food. Manager says she will do something for being kind and waiting - mind you we were just having a good time chatting we understand things happen but to get our checks and only get %10 off from each of our checks a total of $6 ..... currently still here at 12:30 waiting for our checks. I was so excited to try this place because of the Yelp pics I was seeing, but it turns out the menu items I went for based on the photos were outdated and no longer available. I had a Baileys brunch cocktail, which tasted watered down. I also had the crab cake Benedict, which was decent and the potatoes were good. I highly recommend going on ahead of time and getting "in line" for a table to avoid a hefty wait. I probably won't be back, but at least we have it a shot. read more

When we walked in, we had to wait a couple of minutes for someone to seat us. We were seated by the kitchen doors which is never a pleasant experience. We sat at the table for at least 5+ minutes before one of the 6+ servers noticed us. The young girl "tending" bar was our server. She treated us as if we were an inconvenience because she couldn't continue entertaining her friends at the bar. She took our order, we received it, my order was wrong (but there was no way I was going to complain). We waited forever for our bill, we finally asked another waitstaff to bring us our bill, but she said "Jasmine will have to get it for you," but Jasmine was too busy entertaining her friends at the bar and being unnecessarily loud and felt it necessary to announce throughout the place that they are now "legally allowed to serve alcohol" just didn't see the need to do that. She picked up our bill, brought it back and that was it. No "Thanks for coming, no nothing. We walked out and passed at least 5 servers hanging by the front door and only after eye contact did someone say have a good day. We will never go back. Absolutely loved everything we ate. We ate at Another Broken Egg in FL one time and loved it, even bought a mug haha. This time my husband got the lobster omelette and it was amazing and I got Eggs Benedict with mushrooms on top of hash browns (one of the summer specials). The bloody Mary's were great. [Full Disclosure: Our meal was comped by the district manager because of the problems we had in our last visit.] As both my wife and I were off today, we decided to revisit Another Broken Egg Cafe for lunch. We went on a weekday just before closing time to avoid any rush and because, well, we were hungry then! As they were starting their daily closing (they are only open until 2pm), we did have to wait a few minutes to be seated but it wasn't excessive. Also a big plus... parking was much easier at 1:30 as opposed to noon on the weekend! We decided to change up what we normally order (Shrimp and Grits for my wife and something really meat for me) and go with pancakes today but our server told us they were out of pancake batter (See note below) so we went with Shrimp and Grits and an unembellished Belgian Waffle. My wife said that the grits were quite creamy and that the topping/sauce gave it a nice flavor. My waffle was soft on the inside with a good crisp on the outside and the server brought out plenty of butter so I didn't have to ask for more. The bacon and eggs (both come standard with the waffles) were well done. The bacon was JUST on the right side of being overcooked so they were super crispy and had a nice flavor. The over-easy eggs were likewise prepared properly and were unbroken. The server was mostly attentive but was a touch slow on the coffee refills. Perhaps, ironically, because his second-to-last table made him bring out their selection of coffee mugs which are available for purchase! But, other than that, he took very good care of us. This review was borderline 3.5 stars (leaning toward three) but the manager came out to chat with us to make sure we had a good experience and that bumped it up to four... good job! This is one of our favorite go-to breakfast places right now when we want something fancier than IHOP or some of the other brunch restaurants. Their selections have interesting flavors (beyond the usual fare) and makes breakfast interesting. We'll be back! NOTE: The manager told us that the server was semi-mistaken and that it just takes a minute to make more pancake batter and said that they'd be happy to do so in the future if they run out. read more
