PLEASE! Check your insurance claims…read more Not sure if the dentist is aware, but I paid close to $850 more than what I needed to pay out of pocket. I had really had tooth sensitivity and got a root canal, recommended by Dr.Cheng. When I came back to get my crown done, Carmen presented two options to me for crowns: porcelain with metal (~$700) and porcelain with zirconia (~$1400). These prices are WITH my insurance by the way. It didn't look right, but I chose metal because it was cheaper. Later I regretted my decision and went for porcelain with zirconia because of the longevity. I spoke to my insurance company to figure out why I had to pay so much out of pocket. They stated, if the only full porcelain option given to you is with zirconia, then the dental office can't charge me for upgraded materials. I was only supposed to pay $490!!! I called Carmen to ask for the itemized invoice. They billed my insurance for porcelain with metal and zirconia separately! I asked her to correct the invoice and she REFUSED because my insurance "doesn't cover porcelain crowns", when it does. They are submitting wrong codes for insurance on purpose and doing shady stuff with billing. It was so weird that they didn't provide itemized invoices are paying, just a piece of paper with the amount. Make sure to check!

Luckily, I was introduced to Perfect Smile Dental through my boss, and I'm so grateful for the recommendation. Dr. Jenny Kim took care of my treatment, and the entire experience was excellent from start to finish. On my first visit, I went in for an exam, and since they had time available that day, Dr. Kim was able to take care of the issue with my right molar implant right away. It was done quickly and smoothly, and amazingly, I didn't even need anesthesia. For the broken crown on my lower left molar, I needed to redo the crown, which required two visits. Both appointments went very smoothly as well. In total, I visited the office three times, and every single visit was efficient, comfortable, and well organized. Alex as a dentist is great, very experienced, friendly, works very quickly and precisely. He doesn't unnecessarily use anesthetics which I appreciate. Most services are affordable, and the office is decently clean. This dentistry is great for people that are more fluent in Chinese because most of the staff speak Chinese. In the recent couple months he's hired new assistants and another dentist probably to help him with his load. So it seems like Alex will do most of the more risky things and the new staff clean up. One of the new assistants gives me a lot of anxiety because of her lack of proficiency, and the new dentist has proper education and just seems green so he will work a bit slower, but he will likely get better with time. The assistant that I'm pretty cautious of has helped me with polishing my teeth and assisted in fillings. I'm sure her hearts in the right place but maybe she hasn't had as much dental work on herself before because she was putting the suction tube down my throat triggering my gag reflex. When she assisted in curing the filling material I felt like she left it on for a lot longer and wasn't as accurate and it hurt a little. When she did the polishing she had the tool on max rotations and the pressure she placed made it the most uncomfortable polishing I've had in my life. It's really hard to find a new dentist I can trust, but I am thinking of avoiding this place for the next few months - year while the newer staff get experience.
