Great! Happy hour is the best time to go sit at the bar with good deals on appetizers and drinks, but get there early. Many times I was disappointed to arrive at the peak of the rush and there was no place to sit. I don't hold that against them - it just means they are popular - with good reason. The table seating is great if you are with a group. The views are what makes this place so special. I could stare out that window for hours. (as long as I have a drink!) Sometimes the food takes a while to get to you, so be prepared to show some patience. Its worth it. The food is delicious here. A little on the pricey side but it pays for that view. read more

It took them a very long time to get us our calamari appetizer so they gave it too us for free but, when we received it was overcooked, a ton of tiny pieces (where as before it was larger legs & whole octopuses), & down right flavorless. read more

We don't have a lot of great options in Bellingham so, for a good meal that you don't mind paying too much for, Hearthfire is alright. It's a beautiful setting and the place is nicely done. So for atmosphere alone it deserves four to five stars. The food is quite good. Again four to five. It's in value where Hearthfire falters. Also, service can vary quite a bit. They seem so focused on hiring young, pretty people for their fashionable place that service may sometimes seem somewhat secondary. Most of the staff are just fine but from time to time one might not get the best wait-person or the most helpful person at the entrance. read more

OMG! The Dungeness crab & corn chowder is worth driving here! It is exquisite; reminiscent of a lobster bisque we loved at Tommy Bahama's on Maui. The menu is different and much better than at some other Anthony's; the restaurant was quieter and the view lovely. Go here! read more

We like Hearthfire for location, and that is about it. The service this time was very good, so can't complain about that--though I have been another time, and it was terrible. Cocktails did not have much flavor, so if you go, wine or beer are your best options. Lastly, it is kind of amazing that this day and age a restaurant like this does not have a single vegetarian entree option on the menu. We are vegetarian, and one time we were meeting family here and had to have soup and some iceberg lettuce (that they call a salad) for dinner. This time, we only went because we were given a gift card. So we spent it on cocktails, french fries, and a peach dessert. It is 2020, put a vegetarian option on your menu, and be welcoming to all kinds of eaters. Unless we get gifted another gift card, we don't plan to be back. Also, umbrellas for shade on the patio would be nice. read more

This is usually one of our favorite restaurants but they missed the mark on Tuesday. The usually excellent "Kobe" style steak, although pinkish, was dry and tasteless. My herb chicken had a mushy consistency. I probably won't try that dish again. read more

So, thought we'd be having a wonderful dinner with the reviews I read and let me just say that the atmosphere was the only positive about the restaurant. Our waiter seemed preoccupied by a friend that was in the restaurant. He was friendly, but not a good server. He was not attentive to us, or any of the tables around us. It took over 15 minutes to get our bread basket. Let's talk about the bread. It smelled very good, and I was very excited when it finally arrived, only to be disappointed after the first bite. The bread was very very bland. The garlic seasoning was only sprinkled on the top, and if that was not in your bite, ugh !!! As for my dinner. I chose the top sirloin, well done and it was truly blackened. It was dry, but ..... My husband chose the pork chops, and it was very thick, and he rates it at a 3 out of 5, it was overdone. I chose the baked potato and it was under cooked, still hard, vegetables were warm, not hot. Would I return, no, not for a meal. Views are the only reason I gave this 3 stars. read more

This place has an awesome Sunset Menu that is reasonable in pricing and offers a nice meal, appetizer, salad or soup, entree, and dessert. I choose the flank steak and asked for rare. I like a nice piece of beef rare if it is a top quality. I was disappointed in the quality of the flank steak. Next time it will be medium to medium well. I hated to return it but really wished I had. It was very tough and not very tasty. Otherwise, this place is awesome for this dinner plan and the price. We had a group of 12 and came to celebrate a birthday. I do realize that the group is large which means it is more difficult to provide good service; however, the service should be better than what we received considering the prices on your menu. I found Hearthfire to be considerably overpriced. The view from the restaurant is nice and the ambiance inside is okay- I think my favorite part were the restrooms... Our large group was sat by the window with a nice view of the bay- we were given menus and asked for drinks. We had ordered some beers and waited. Our server came back and we ordered wine for the table- still waiting for our beer. The wine came out and it was very awkward how the server handled the wine, actually spilling wine on our birthday boys' white polo shirt. Wine has been poured and we still have no beer. When our beer arrived the server placed it on the table spilling beer as she set it down- didn't wipe it up, just left it on the table and carried on. We all placed our orders and the food came out surprisingly quick- at first I was impressed then I tasted the food. I had the Salmon salad that was upwards of $26.00. When I ordered this the server commended me on my choice as this was also her favorite menu item. I love salmon and don't have it often- I was left utterly disappointed by my salad as it had no flavor at all. Either the dressing was left off completely or this dish just failed. I wasn't the only one that ordered the salad and we all agreed on the flavor issue. Others at our table had the flank steak- they seemed to enjoy it. When it came time for dessert, those that had the early special received their dessert- then the server came out with a candle lit dessert for the birthday boy. After everyone was served, the server handed dessert menus to those of us that didn't have the special. Question- why wouldn't you bring the menus out before you serve everyone else so that we can all have our dessert at the same time? We didn't order dessert because the others would have been waiting on us to finish at that point. Overall, I was very dissatisfied with the food and service. We came for lunch today. The weather was beautiful. We were seated by the window with views of the islands and the harbor. Lovely flowers blooming everywhere. Yes it was that nice and it just got better! We were greeted by our server Sydney who was so personable and engaging. I asked if they could blacken my salmon and Louie the chef who was walking by said of course we can. We had some lovely Chardonnay and I ordered a Caesar salad with blackened salmon. My signature dish. My friend order the Blue Cheese wedge with Shrimp. Our meals were served with a kind smile by Sydney. The food was exceptional. My salmon was cooked to perfection and the Caesar salad dressing was on point. My friend loved her salad with beautiful chucks of delicious blue cheese. We shared a key lime pie jar for desert. I think I have the right restaurant. I was travelling and stopped in the area... Went here with family for a Friday night dinner. The location can't be beat. It's got such a pretty view. I'm not a big seafood eater, so I am not the best judge of the food, but the fam seemed happy. Someone at the table ordered a corn chowder--that he said was pretty filling. Another person ordered the blue cheese salad that was a pretty good size for the price. Two of us ordered the kobe burger. It came with potatoes. I liked the burger--the meat was fresh and juicy--but, it was almost too juicy. It had some ketchup-like sauce on it that was a little too much and I felt like my hands were covered. I wouldn't order that with it on the burger again. I'd get it on the side. Take note: wear a dark-colored shirt when eating this! Someone else ordered salmon and really liked it. Great décor; lively, but not so noisy that you can't hear yourself talk (although, I almost wish it was, the guy behind me was telling super corny jokes to some girl he was with--it was painful to see that dude bomb on a date). read more

WOW! Where do I begin...? I guess with the great vibe of the restaurant and the waitstaff! The bartender Larry made an amazing roasted pear martini that was so perfect! He was very attentive and funny and made the meal even more great. He recommended the margarita shrimp because I was in the mood for some pasta and seafood. He couldn't have recommended a more perfect dish for me. I started with the tomato soup and it warmed me up and tasted amazing!!! The manager Chris came by and I was asking about the islands I could see far in the distance and he gave me a whole history of what was out there! I was so impressed! The Ahi cocktail was AMAZING! All of our food was good and we loved the atmosphere and view but, unfortunately, service fell short:( We sat in the bar at a table during happy hour and it took 15 minutes to be greeted and brought menus. We didn't see anything we wanted on the happy hour menu so another 15 minutes to get dinner menus. After more time goes by, we finally ordered! The kitchen got the food out and it was great! Bartender (he was not our server) delivered most of our food and was very personable...that was a plus! Lastly, instead of having coffee with dessert we enjoyed our 2nd beer which we ordered from our server 20 minutes earlier and that's when it came. I'll be back for that appetizer again...I'll just make sure I sit AT the bar instead of just IN the bar. read more

4 stars for the view and salad. I ordered a $42.00 Ribeye it looked like a NY or Sirloin. Ribeye Steak is round with a "lip". The steak I got was rectangle. I didn't complain, as not to embarrass my family that boasted this restaurant. We were also rushed through the meal. Waited 35 minutes for dinner salad then 10 minutes into salad the entree arrived. Poor pacing from the servers. I would not return. Don't order the Ribeye. Update: Within a few days after this review I received a personal call from the manager with a gracious apology. The letter stated it would look into the steak and service issue. Within a week I received a formal letter of apology and a gift certificate. Great customer service! read more

I go here quite a bit on the weekends and always can't help but order the same thing, their fish and chips is amazing, such a good breading (more of a panko style breading that actually stays adhered to the fish rather then a batter style breading that falls off) and nice crispy fries. I enjoy their cocktails although I wish they would freshen the menu up more with more seasonal choices. The ambiance is lovely looking out on the marina and it is fun to boat and people watch. What a beautiful location! We arrived late afternoon, it was raining, not a lot of patrons. We had great seating with a view of the marina. Husband had the Salmon cakes. Light and fresh tasting. The Beef Kobe tacos were very good, as well as the Chicken pizza. The Huckleberry lemonade was refreshing. The place is beautifully and tastefully decorated. Everything about this place was clean. We were looking for a seafood place with an outside patio and we found it. Large seating area outside was very nice and you could see the marina, boats and lots of pretty flowers. It's right on the marina. The food is a solid 6/10. Not great but not terrible. We had the lingcod, the rockfish, and the seafood linguini. Nothing fantastic and a little too pricey. The seafood linguini was watery and lacked flavour. The fish specials were a better option. Our waiter was very friendly but all the other staff we encountered were quite unfriendly. read more

The four of us went there last Sunday for lunch. What a disappointment for such a nice view of the bay. I had the fish and chips which was around $12. The fish was OK at best and the fries that came with it were the cheapest flavorless fries I think I have ever eaten. Someone needs to go to bobs burger and brew and find out what quality fries looks like. They also served coleslaw which was just shredded cabbage with what taste like vinegar over-the-top. I will have to say that if you do eat lunch here do not get the fish and chips. Not only was it not worth the money, The portions were very small. Love their food! The chowder is good, the mango shrimp salad is to die for. Would not recommend the fish & chips which was surprising since most everything we have had here is good. Heavily breaded, small portions & was by no means up to par with their high standards. They also make an excellent non alcohol mojito.
