This is a great consistent restaurant. Last time we were there I had halibut cakes and they were one of the best dishes I've had recently. I also like the beef tenderloin appetizer on the bar menu and both the hearts of romain with blue cheese salad and the knife and fork ceasar salad are delish. I like Anthony's Hearthfire for the most part. We have had some inconsistent service issues though. The one thing I do like about the restaurant is the food. The flatbread is amazing. The one real issue I have is the lack of cleanliness. Whenever I get seated I am turned off by the fact that there is food on the ground and grease and crumbs on the seats. The only reason for not 5 stars is I felt the price was a bit high for the amount of food they give you. Jean-Louis and I had a wonderful dinner: salmon and halibut. The rice had cranberries in it and was terrific. The salad also had cranberries, plus candied pecans that made an extraordinary taste delight. Compliments to the chefs! The sky cleared for sunset, even though there was snow on the ground still. If you love Martini's this is the place to go!! They have a long list of Martini's and wow they are delish!!! They have a Huckleberry Martini and its the best Martini I have ever tasted!! My most recent visit to Anthony's was so bittersweet. I graduated from WWU, so after the ceremony (for my last dinner in Bellingham), my parents, boyfriend, and I went to Anthony's. The seafood and steak were delicious, and the service was amazing as always. My boyfriend and I had a great experience here. We both ordered the steak and lobster. The steak had great seasoning and was cooked to perfection. The one and only reason we give this place 4 stars rather than 5 is because the lobster was a tad chewy. The staff was so very nice and even picked a great wine to pair with our meal. I'd love to give the place a 4 or 5, but the food just doesn't earn it. The waitperson was personable and timely, the atmosphere was atmospheric and the table, while not pier-side, was worth the pricey menu. We started with an Artichoke Dip appetizer and followed with entrees of Top Sirloin with New Orleans Shrimp and the time-honored favorite, Macaroni and Cheese. It was all good... but not excellent. Just a quick note to thank Meaghan S. for her outstanding dinner service tonight. There were a mere eleven of us seated at our table...it didn't phase her. She was patient, kind and considerate. Her manner made each person feel well cared for and even special. My water was continually filled (hooray) by a very observant busboy. The Caesar was good too. My wife and I went to the Hearthfire restaurant for a nice evening and we enjoy sharing the ribs between us with a drink and a nice salad. It was a slow evening after the game so our service was great. The ribs were I think overcooked but they weren't as plump and juicy as prior dinners but nonetheless still good. We paid our bill with credit card and bill was brought back and 20% tip I added. I did not notice the card but assumed my wife had it. I went into the hospital the next day for a procedure and didn't use or need my card for a few days. When I went to produce it for another restaurant it was missing. I called the Hearthfire and behold they had my card. I drove t pick it up and asked why they didn't try to contact me. They had my name on the reservation and phone number also the card has a phone number. They didn't bother to call me or inform the card co they had inadvertently forgot to give me back my card. The said that they don't do that and if the customer doesn't call they cut up the card after a week. NICE HUH? They sure don't give a damn about their customers and I questioned the assistant mgr also but he didn't seem to care either. We have been eating there for over 30 years. I believe for their prices all being equal I may start eating at the Bellwether instead. read more

Went here 30 December 14 for a post Christmas meal. My daughter was in from NYC, son from CA, they look forward to eating here, annual family tradition. This time the restaurant was "OUT" of swordfish, ahi, cod, and, drum roll, even chicken ! Yes, 3 out of 4 of our orders were no go, and even second choices were NO ! This was on a Sunday evening, around seven pm, so not past prime dining. Bread was dry, overcooked, meals luke warm. Server tried to be helpful, but he was also tending bar ! Guessing this restaurant is suffering like many in bellingham, financial distress. Way to ruin a holiday meal, and it was an expensive disappointment ! read more

we just had a family event here with 26 people and everything was fantastic. with that many people you expect the staff to scrimp on stuff, forget orders, take a long time, etc. instead the service was excellent, nothing was forgotten, we got our food and appetizers in an extremely timely fashion and the food was amazing. i heartily recommend this place! read more

We used our $20 coupon hoping for a special night out together. We were both very disappointed. My salad and rice pilaf were both great, but my prawns were overdone, rubbery and tasteless. My husband ordered the salmon salad and he ate the fish but left the greens, they were soggy and unappetizing. We both ordered wine and both glasses were nice but mine had the dregs in it, not a happy way to end the meal. Plus the menu is way over priced. Yelp should add an extra $ to their assessment. If we ever go back we'll do so just for the dessert. We shared a berry crumble and it was delicious. read more

Went today for co-worker 25 year work anniversary lunch. Three total in our party, two of us had the Lunch trio with crab chowder and the other the chicken cobb salad. We were greeted and seated right away and our server April L delivered waters quickly enough and asked if we wanted a basket of bread in which we answered yes. 10 minutes later still no bread and she came to take our order. She again asked if we wanted bread and we told her that she had asked us and yes we did. Her response was " well we don't want to bring it if your not going to eat it, to much gets wasted". Bread was delivered then food shortly there after. Crab chowder was lukewarm and Caesar salad was warm and not very crispy. Be warned the crab chowder is low on crab! On a 1-10 for that meal 3. For the chicken cobb salad the rating is a 6. April L came to take our plates and told us she could only take one at that time and would be back for the others. By the time check was delivered plates were still on the table. She is not a warm fuzzy person. I get that everyone has a bad day and I am hoping this was one of hers! I don't think I will be back anytime soon which is disappointing, Hearthfire is a great location and has a nice atmosphere. read more

Just finished one of their $20 "early dinners". These used to be a good deal but they have eviscerated it by eliminating the appetizer and giving you a spoonful of crap for what used to be dessert. We went to hearthfire the day before Valentines for lunch. No reservations, no big deal. We were not in a hurry..There was a tall reddish blond girl that came to the desk, made a big deal out of how many people were waiting and how long it would be. Pushed the girl that was trying to help us out of the way..How rude. I said ok no problem we will go into the bar. She then said she was just "trying" to give us the best service and it would not be any better in the bar. What ,are you kidding? I just wanted a drink and to wait. Really no big deal. Sooo we went into the bar and the girl in there said it's going to be a long wait before i can help you....Really, no one wanted us in this place. we left went to another restuarant that didn't freak out when we walked in. Have been to Hearthfire alot. The original girl that was helping us was great ,we talk to her all the time,k now about her family etc. So this treatment was totally not necessary. If Tasha had been there it just would not have happened. read more

I've definitely had better, for a lot less. The view is good, but the service was mediocre and slow. The fish was frozen and over breaded. Portions were small and really lacking in flavor. Our waitress could barely manage our three plates and asked that we take them from her and place them on the table, telling my mother that her's was a little warm when she handed to her. Went for lunch, menu had some excellent and exciting options. It was difficult to narrow it down to just one choice. A glass of Chateau St. Michelle riesling in hand, I selected steak sandwich cooked medium rare while my boyfriend ordered the Waygu steak. We also asked for some of their complimentary flatbread. The flatbread was the best I've had to date, and we asked for a second order. The Waygu steak was delicious though really bloody and raw for a medium rare steak. My companion is culinary arts degree holder so he had some issues with potatoes that accompanied his steak. He said they were surprisingly bland compared to the steak. He wasn't very pleased with them. My steak sandwich was presented like a beef dip you might find in other restaurants. The steak inside was cooked well done rather than the desired medium rare. The sautéed onions were, sorry to say, a mess! Mushy bland and just gross. The steak sandwich was awkward to eat, I tried to use a fork and knife at first but that didn't work so I tried to eat it as a beef dip, only causing the au jus to run down my hands. So in the end, I took the meat off the bread and pushed the onions away completely and ate it as I would a normal steak. Not their best meal by far. I've eaten here before and had much better meal so I'm giving 3 stars because I know they can do better. read more

Consistantly good food & service! We dine at the Hearthfire about 6 times a year with another couple. Just came from there from a Valentine's dinner. All four of us had the thick cut pork chop dinner. One of us didn't want the cornbread pudding & pork chop topping (which the other three thought was excellent) & the waiter gladly substituted garlic mashed potatoes. Our dinners were excellent & filling. We all were too full for dessert! One of our favorite restaurants in Bellingham. read more

My boyfriend made a reservation 2 weeks ahead of time and when we got there the waitstaff seated people before us and we had to wait 10+ minutes, we made a few phone calls and ended up going somewhere else. Once again we have nothing but wonderful things to say about the food, ambiance, and service at Anthony's Hearthfire Grill. My niece and I were treated like VIPs the moment we walked in. Katie and Kyle, our servers, were knowledgeable, fast, and quick with a smile. The corn and seafood chowder was the perfect complement to our salmon salads, which were festively garnished with fresh cranberries for the season. The entire restaurant was cozy, inviting, and beautifully decorated with pointsettias and holiday lights. We especially loved that it wasn't too noisy (my pet peeve in restaurants these days). Saving the best for last: Carson (the manager) is a real gem, who came over to chat and to make sure all was well. He seems tireless and I have never seen him not smile! Anthony's is fast becoming our favorite place in town to celebrate special occasions. We will definitely return again soon. read more

This could be a wonderful place with a great atmosphere. However, blaring pop music is Horrendous to me. Restaurant should make people relax after a long days full of stimulation. Or at least music should be quiet and not pop. Also, the lights were too bright and no way to adjust them above the table. Also, two stars less because of TV monitors being present. I come to the restaurant to enjoy the food and to relax and not for stimulation. The food is good. read more
