Anthony's closed its doors off of Broad St (it appeared in the local newspaper and everything, in which the developers were planning to build a Harris Teeter and such in that plaza) - I remember going there for breakfast a few times, and it has always been tasty and served with a smile! However, lo and behold, they opened one up off of Annandale Road (still in Falls Church)! This is a family-owned and operated restaurant (since '72), and they actually have another location out in Manassas. Their menu offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner options, ranging from Greek to Italian to American specialties - items such as mozzarella sticks, stuffed grape leaves, salads, soup, souvlaki, subs, burgers, Greek-style chicken, seafood entrees, pasta, and pizza. I've had their Chicken Parmigiana before, but for me, their breakfast platters seem more popular and safe (egg of choice, breakfast meat choice, and pancakes). Usually this place is pretty good, but not great. Stopped in today and had the bacon cheeseburger, and it turned out to be a thin, overcooked, terrible tasting piece of meat ! I mean come on. Gosh, am I glad this placed opened up: it's the only "real" restaurant on the south side of Arlington Blvd between the beltway and 7 Corners. In previous years I had occasionally patronized the original location in Falls Church City but I really didn't enjoy driving over there and looking for places to park. The new location features easy access and plenty of parking. More importantly, unlike the previous Anthony's, the new restaurant has a full bar with large TVs which is important to me since I mainly stick to take out pizza and subs. The pizza is first rate; really the only decent pie within miles. The subs are smallish, but good for the money. I have sat in the dining area on a couple of occasions and was very pleased with both the service and the food. Thank you Anthony's for opening your new restaurant. It's a winner! read more

Good service and good food. I ordered the gyro with fries. It was about $10. Gyro was flavorful and a good portion. Fries were chenille cut and average. My water glass was never empty. Anthony's is still cranking out great food during social distancing. Their take out process seems essentially the same as it was before Coronavirus dropped upon the DMV. Order over the phone (you can give them your card number) then come in to pick up by name. We ordered from their on Friday and there were a couple people waiting on orders when we arrived. Glad to have mousaka and the eggplant parm again. I ate the leftover garlic bread the next day. So good. read more

My boyfriend and I LOVE Anthony's! I never went to the old location, but the new location is right by his house, so his family and I tried it and it was fantastic. I haven't gotten a dish that I haven't liked, and we've been there about 20 or so times since the first time we tried it in November. The Pasta (fettuccini Alfredo, and manicotti specifically) is amazing, and their chicken souvlaki sandwich is the best sandwich I've ever had. Pizza is great, and the service staff is awesome. Never again. Used to love this place. Went for decades at the old location. I don't know if it's the pandemic or what, but the last two times were bad. The first of those was inedible. Someone there decided ricotta was the proper cheese for a pizza. This last time I specifically asked for spaghetti with marinara sauce. While waiting for it (to go), they even referred to it as marinara. Got it home and it was meat sauce. Had also ordered their garlic cheese bread. Instead of the usual bread, it was a steak roll, and the sauce was different (as in not the same as it has been for years) and not good. It's sad really. I moved away this past summer, but I won't think about it again when I do come to town. read more

First time to their "new" location. Was impressed by the dining area -- spacious and contemporary though lacking in character. We ordered a smorgasbord of different breakfast options. The Greek omelette was bland, and the scrambled eggs had no fluff, resembling a plain omelette. The fried eggs were cooked perfectly and the sausage and bacon excellent. The home fried potatoes are clearly the big filler and help make up for the small portions of other items. My biggest gripe? For $2.95, I should get more than one refill of watery coffee in a tiny 6oz mug (without real milk/cream), or it makes more sense to just hit Starbucks on the way over and get a 20oz cup of good coffee for 50 cents less. In the end, the product and service don't justify the rather high prices here, so it won't end up being a regular breakfast spot for us -- but will remain so for many octogenarians. read more

It really has a family feel with the owner and chef out in the dining room greeting friends and family that stopped in and the food was delicious and fairly priced and the staff was very friendly. I wanted to support local business but ... I ordered the pork souvlaki and supposedly it comes with feta but not tzatziki. There was too much vinegar that made my pita soggy and it's what I tasted most. The pizza is good but too much cheese for me - many places are like that so it feels more like cheese bread v pizza. This place is truly amazing in all ways. Im glad I went to Anthony's . A couple of days ago I was looking for a decent place to eat in falls church and I found Anthony's restaurant on yelp. Regardless, some negative reviews in yelp I wanted to go and try by myself. So that's what I did. I had the trio dip which consists in a huge scoop of hummus, eggplant and tsatsiki sauce. By the way, I'm a hummus and pita bread lover and I can definitely say that these items in this restaurant are one of the best I had tried in the northern states. I do believe that ingredients play an important role in order to prepare/cook excellent food and the chef in this restaurant knows that. The veggies were so fresh and tasty! maybe the veggies were organic or the recipes are very good. Then for my main entree I had the stuffed eggplant or Iman Baildi which was divine! The sauce mixture was exquisite, it had onions, raisins, mix of herbs and other ingredients. The eggplant also came with rice and broccoli on the side. Oh I almost forget to mention that I had a greek salad and garlic bread that came with my meal. That was all included in the price. I strongly recommend this dish to anybody you won't be disappointed at all. This place is freaking amazing! They had choices for everyone: pizza, subs, and more elaborated dishes such as fettuccine, ravioli, baked spaghetti, steak, broiled salmon and a section for Greek food that I can't remember the names. After such a pleasant experience in this family restaurant I really wanna go back and try other items but I do not leave close enough to be there every week. However, I will certainly go back whenever I have a chance and bring my friends. The only cons I have to say is that I didn't see a hostess immediately when I walked in. Then the cashier gave me a sit as soon as she saw me. Anthony's food is delightful and the staff were attentive starting from the cashier to the server. If you come to this restaurant, come hungry because the portion sizes are huge! Like almost excessively. My boyfriend and I decided to stop in for breakfast one morning. We were looking for breakfast food, and something local, rather than a chain like IHOP. When we walked in, I noticed a pastry case right up front and I spotted baklava-- one of my favorites. The hostess was polite, and seated us promptly. When scanning the menu, it was pretty boring. It had your typical omelets, pancakes, french toast. Nothing really excited either one of us. I like to see creative dishes on menus-- not just stuff that we could make at home ourselves and this menu was certainly lacking in innovation. I settled and ordered the challah french toast with a side of bacon and my boyfriend seriously didn't want to order anything but he felt bad and ordered the Greek yogurt with a side of fruit. Both were ok-- but lackluster. As a final attempt to salvage the meal, we decided to give the baklava a try. It was not good at all. It was so soaked in honey that it was soggy rather than flaky/crispy as it should be. I enjoyed the original Anthony's in Falls Church since the 1980's with my family. We'd go there after church many times. I always loved the food there. It reminds me of a NYC diner. The sandwiches have always been delicious and the fresh pizzas are great. The prices are very reasonable. Parking at the old location was always tough and I love the parking at the new location on Annandale Road. I've been coming here since they relocated and the hot subs are my favorite. The food is so good and I want to come here often to experience the beautiful dining room. The menu has so much to offer from salads to subs to fresh pizza to plated meals. They have awesome desserts, too. I've been reading the snarky overly critical reviews on YELP and I don't understand it. If you are so demanding, where the heck are you going in Falls Church that's better than Anthony's? This is not L'Auberge Chez Francois, so get over yourself. This is a clean, well run restaurant with great food. It's like a diner and its comfort food in a pleasant setting. If you are demanding, mean spirited, and rude to waitresses please go somewhere else where you belong like IHOP and eat their prefab food. If you want some good old fashioned comfort food then come here and act like you've got some class. This is a family owned and operated restaurant. I went here with my daughter on a Tuesday evening. The restaurant was half full and the parking lot was packed. We had to wait longer than I would have expected for our beverages and our food. I had the "Italian Sausage & Cheese sub: Mild Italian sausage with sautéed peppers and onions, topped with melted mozzarella cheese" and my daughter had the kid's-menu grilled cheese sandwich with fries. My "Italian Sausage & Cheese sub: Mild Italian sausage with sautéed peppers and onions, topped with melted mozzarella cheese" was a mess. It did have ample quantities of sausage that didn't taste like much of anything. The peppers/onions were burned and coated with oil. The tomato sauce was WAY overcooked. The cheese was all but missing. With some salt, it was edible but just barely. My daughter's grilled cheese sandwich was soggy and undercooked. Same goes for the fries that came with it. For me, a 2-star rating means I will never return on my own and recommend alternatives if others suggest it. read more

Fantastically average. Was it fine? Yes. Will I make a point to go there again? No. I had a gyro, which was humongous and drowning in tzatziki. The meat on it wasn't particularly juicy or flavorful. I wouldn't bother ordering it again. I also found the entire meal to be extremely salty. I felt sick afterwards from so much sodium. The baklava was decent, but perhaps too saturated in liquid, thus rendering it heavy and gooey. It also cost about $4.70, and while the portion was generous, that's still a pretty decent chunk or change for a piece of baklava. Imagine charging that much for a cookie. Or even two cookies. This is a solid family diner, well worth a visit for breakfast or dinner. I had eggs benedict and it was unctuous deliciousity! That is my go to dish, if a cafe hits a home run with it, they usually do as well on their other dishes. So I went back yesterday and had the gyro sandwich and the soup of the day, a lentil soup. The soup was simple, rich and tasty. The sandwich arrived and looked great! I bit in and the tzatziki sauce to meat ratio was just right. Excellent sandwich! I almost gave it 4 stars because the home fries with the eggs benedict were luke warm instead of hot, but that small shortfall isn't worth the loss of a star.
