I heard a lot about this place but was very disappointed. The bread is fresh baked, a combination between a grinder roll and ciabatta bread but not crusty as I had imagined an Italian grinder to be. I ordered the mafia grinder which was 7.95 and a canned drink which came out to $10.21 with tax. I felt the sandwich was skimpy on the meat and cheese and overpriced for what it was. I love this place. I have been coming here since we moved to Riverside in 1976. If you want consistency in your food, this is it. The bread is fresh and amazing. Always the same. I gain 2 pounds every time I come but it is so worth it!! I get antipasto salad, turkey sandwich, spaghetti and meatballs, garlic bread, and a fountain soda. After seeing all the high reviews I decided to give this place a try. I ordered the cappicola sandwich on garlic bread and was highly disappointed. The cappicola was thin like deli sliced lunch meat and I think there were only four slices; two on two and two on the bottom. 90% of the sandwich was bread and iceberg lettuce. The bread wasn't very tasty, the sandwich lacked any note-worthy dressing, and there wasn't enough cappicola in the sandwich to get a good taste. It all resulted in a relatively bland and underwhelming meal. I like supporting family owned businesses, but I just don't see a reason to go back. read more

My husband stopped to pick up some sandwiches, after having a taste of a friends a few days earlier. He had ham & turkey club with salami added. I had the hot roast beef with gravy. Both were delicious. Our only complaint is, the building is not wheelchair accessible. After circling the building, looking for a ramp and finding none, a worker inside noticed him and came outside and took his order and his cash payment. She also told him to call his order in and they would have it ready for him to pick up. This was very nice, but we really would have liked to come inside at some point, and that won't be possible. Hopefully an upgrade of the entrance is in their future. read more

I've been wanting to go here for so long but everytime it comes to mind they are closed. Well finally got a chance to try it out and ummm not as I had hoped for. Let me start by saying they do have an amazing garlic butter french bread pizza with sausage that is to die for but they kill it with canned mushrooms. Yep mushrooms from a CAN that taste like can. I had mine without sauce and oh so good once I pulled off the mushrooms. The sausage taste is something wicked to make your tongue dance around in your mouth. I also ordered a cold sub so I could try it out against our fav butch's and it was good just needed something. That wow factor wasn't there. This is a good place if your in for a $5 french bread pizza lunch. Even the salad was just so so. Friendly staff even took time to come around and ask how we like everything. I will be back for the sausage french bread. Also maybe a meatball sub with sausage on top...oh yeah that is how a fatty does a meatball sub. :) read more

First time here and a regular recommended the Sausage Grinder. Took a few minutes to make it but it was definitely worth he wait. When we lived in RVSD, all our lives. :) I used to go to Antone's like every other day. They were on my way to and from work. So I would grab lunch and OMGoodness, Love it. We moved out of State 10 yrs ago, But we still have family and a place there and every time we come back to Rvsd we have to have lunch there. I have lived in Riverside for over 20 years, I have heard about this place and how good and authentic the food is, today I decided to try it out. Wish I would of went to Chili's the food is gross the restaurant is gross on the inside, by hanging up a picture of Goodfellas doesnt make it authentic. I spent $46 here to feed three people. Oh my god you guy's are still cooking and serving that great bread and food... I use to eat at Antone's as child but we moved to Nor Cal almost 20 years ago. I found you guys on a fluke chance tonight planing my vacation to Riverside and So Cal. I can't wait to eat at Antone's again. I have family in So Cal I haven't seen in 22 years and I'm more excited about Antone's that seeing them. I remember my mom begging the family for the bread receipt and getting a laugh and a "NO WAY" every time. I'm driving to So Cal and Antone's is my first stop when I get Riverside. This place has been around for 45 years and I believe my mother has been going there for 42 of them. I grew up eating mafias and I have to say, I believe it's the best sandwich I've ever had and will ever have. The bread is the best part. I could easily eat one everyday, but unfortunately I've moved away. However, we were in Riverside a couple of months ago and stopped by Antone's for mafias and they were EXACTLY THE SAME! Been eating at Antone's since they opened! We have it once a week. The Mafia is by far my fave. Hubby and son mix it up occasionally with a Meatball grinder on garlic bread. Delicious. Absolutely love everything about Antone's including the decor. It's comforting to walk into a place where you ate as a kid, and it has remained the same after 40 + years.
