I love this little spot. Delicious food, friendly staff, and a great view of K-Town if you're sitting by the window. I'm giving this establishment 4 stars because of the sign downstairs that reads, "anytime happy hour". If you look to the left and right of the words there are very small hours. Misled by the food reviews, my friends and I decided to come here for a late night meal. From the moment we sat down until we left, everything about the experience was subpar. The waiter rushed us to order, the plates and utensils had dust and white substances on it, and the food was extremely unsatisfactory. Despite the hefty prices, portion size were small, and flavor was lacking. We ordered the kimchi ramyun, but when it arrived it looks like a pile of goo, bland, and greasy. The chicken katsu was small, and looked more like an appetizer, and the kimchi stew we ordered, while portion size was decent, lacked flavor. It was spicy but there no depth to the dish. Why does this place have so many reviews at 4.5 stars?? Nothing tasted korean at all me and portions were extremely small for $20-25 each plate?? My boyfriend and I left this place extremely hungry still because we didnt want to order another $20 plate to be disappointed We got the spicy pork which was not spicy even a little bit. The plate itself is SO small AND they cover the entire dish with scallions to cover the fact that there's barely any meat in there. We also got their jajjang ramyun which tasted nothing like jajjang. Tasted like they watered it down so much to where there's no flavor at all. A delicious Korean fusion restaurant in Ktown! They have an extensive menu, great service, quick kitchen time, and fun atmosphere. There were so many dishes I wanted to try! The entrance is a little tricky to find if your first time there. There's a sign out front, but you'll have to take the stairs and go up to the 3rd floor and through a gray door that doesn't have a label on it. Once inside, the ambiance is pleasant with a simple yet welcoming interior. Room is dimly lit in the evening but walls had fun decor and lights. We were seated near the window and it was a nice viewpoint of the street and buildings from above. What we ordered: Anytime Makgeolli Strawberry Slushy ($29.95) - We split this amongst two people and we both had a little over 1.5 glasses. It comes in a cute plastic milk-like looking "carton" and tasted just like a strawberry cream smoothie! I couldn't taste the alcohol at all (which was nice haha), but it also wasn't overly sweet either. Popcorn Chicken ($15.95) - A must try! The sweetened gochujang sauce was delicious and the chicken was well fried and perfectly crispy. A decent size portion to split with others. Cheese Spicy Chicken Tteokbokki ($26.95) - Super cheesy and loved the flavor of the sweet and spicy sauce! Only wish there were more rice cakes in proportion to chicken. Cauliflower chunks were a nice addition as well. Teriyaki Tofu ($18.95) - I enjoyed this dish much more than I was expecting! The tofu chunks were the perfect consistency and thought the teriyaki flavors went well with the vegetables and occasional pineapple chunks. Visited Anytime for a casual night out with some old friends! We were seated immediately since we had reservations, and would recommend reserving ahead of time as the place can get quite busy. The atmosphere of the restaurant is perfect for a casual hangout with friends over drinks and savory food, and was really reminiscent of a lot of places I enjoyed in South Korea! For food we ordered multiple orders of the popcorn chicken at happy hour prices which made it more than fair. (A bit on the more expensive end if purchased at normal price). The chicken was good! It was very flavorful, filling, and a perfect snack to chew on while catching up. We also ordered the BuddaeJiggae, which came out boiling hot and was excellent! As well as their new pork belly dish! What I was impressed with was the Bossam with these two very nicely flavored sauces, a green one and a red spicy one. So I was curious and asked a waiter what those sauce were made of if he happened to know. After ordering we were told that their fryers were down and we had to wait 20-30 min for food unless we wanted to order something else. Most of the menu is fried. We waited. I had the fried brussel sprouts. They were good. I also had the oyster hot pot. It was fine. Salty and fishy but tasty. Food came out quickly. We dropped by to grab food/drinks and came in around 9pm with a party of 7 which they were able to accommodate without a reservation. They were super quick and efficient in seating us and taking our orders. We got a variety of small plates to share (bulgogi teokbokki, super creamy teokbokki, pork belly BBQ, bossam, veggie japchae, truffle fries, fried brussel sprouts, and chicken katsu) and drinks (honeydew matcha makgeolli and lychee signature cocktail with soju). Walked in and realized I had been here before. That should have been the cue...food clearly was not memorable last time... Menu is not that large. I would summarize as fusion Korean food that is a-ok (read: not great). I looked around and realized it's first and foremost a bar - the cocktails looked pretty good and every other table was drinking them - and the food is essentially there as sides for the alcohol.. A slightly better Korean pocha in the area, but still overpriced as heck. The Happy Hour was very mediocre. Sojus were "discounted" to $12, and Popcorn Chicken was $10.95. Looking back at the receipt, it looks like we were charged the regular price of $15.95 though despite dining during happy hour. It was not good either since they used dry breast meat with not enough batter for it to be called fried. The two dishes I recommend out of the things we got are the Truffle Fries ($9.95) and the Sweet & Spicy Chicken ($24.95). The Truffle Fries were hot and crispy. The Chicken was served hot, so the cheese can melt for that pull. Now why couldn't the Popcorn Chicken use the same meat? These chicken thighs were perfectly soft and juicy to accompany the marinated buldak sauce. The Kimchi Okonomiyaki ($16.95) was literally just mush. I am shocked they actually served us goo. It tasted like it needed to be cooked more or needed more flour, because everything just collapses the moment I pick it up. The Jjajang Teokbokki ($18.95) had potential! The name sounded interesting, but it was not executed well. The rice cakes they used were peanut shaped, and they did not absorb any of the black bean sauce. It just tasted like dough with way too much chew. The Truffle Jjajang Ramyum ($18.95) was not memorable. It was better than the teokbokki, but I did not taste any truffle. The greens they put on the noodles also had a herbal taste that overpowered any potential truffle. The soups were decent actually. We got to try the Budae Jungol ($29.95) which is great if you like that beady texture, but the Fish Cake Soup ($26.95) was more my style for offering a slightly sweeter taste to it. The signatures might actually be in their drinks. I tried the Green Grape Cocktail ($14.95), which was in a cute Caprisun pouch, and from its blue coloring, it could have passed as blue raspberry. It tasted sweet and refreshing in a dangerous way for not tasting like alc! The wide variety of unique cocktails could make Anytime a fun drinking spot, but the tapas are a pricey hit or miss. read more

Set in an unassuming building in the Koreatown in NYC, is an amazing gem of a restaurant. We honestly passed it when we were looking for it as it is one of the businesses in the building and there is a small sign amongst other names on the list!! Absolutely loved the Brussels sprouts, it was flavorful and tossed in a tangy slightly sweet sauce. One nice thing I found about NYC's Koreatown is that eateries are open til 1am, and it's safe for walking etc and pretty vibrant, even at midnight on a weeknight.  Actually, the multitude of eateries is why we stayed in this area.  Coming back from a Yankees night game, and approaching midnight, the two nephews were getting wobbly because they hadn't eaten in about 9 whole hours, but that's not counting ballpark chicken wings and cheese fries and Dominique Ansel pastries in between.  I was actually ok, but we came here for a snack that turned into our dinner for the day. We had: - chicken katsu - pork belly teriyaki - happy popcorn chicken - spicy cheese potato - corn cheese - truffle fries     Every dish except the corn cheese (to me) was delicious and well presented, and I gotta say it was a great and satisfying meal.  A prototypical Korean bar meal it was.  Except maybe that corn cheese, which seemed very Mexican to me, and it didn't mix well with the other nice dishes, but on its own would be fine.  They have a nice, chill atmosphere here and it was a perfect way to cap off a big day for us in the Big Apple. read more

A lifesaver place in ktown that you can book for a Friday night. After sifting through my OpenTable and Resy apps for an hour, this place was easy to find a table for 3 and to guarantee my friends can enjoy a Korean pub dinner night with shots of soju. And granted let's keep this secret before the general public catches on to this place lol. It was very easy to miss the entrance to this place as you had to walk into a regular building entrance. The doors didn't look obvious either to lead to the stairs so you had to open a metallic door followed by a thin staircase hallway. Going to the 3rd floor I was scared opening the door imagining I would be lost. Luckily for me it started to look familiar and a restaurant was there. Their dishes are interesting as I feel it fused the usual Asian appetizer items. The kimchi okonomiyaki waffle (my first time trying) was crispy, saucy, and the right type of spicy. Granted the bonito flakes on top of the waffle was wriggling like it was alive (this is normal) but after a few bottles of soju, it can play tricks on your mind. Soju is soju, it did the job to give us a good buzz after a long week. The popcorn chicken and chicken katsu dishes were delicious and full of tangy sweetness. Our waiter was very attentive and paid close attention to all the extra orders we put in. Being on the 3rd floor gave us a good view of the ktown strip. Even the bathroom was spacious enough so you don't feel like you're in sardine can. This place is random (it is located on the upper floor of a building in K-town, so make sure to look up when trying to find it) and I was a bit skeptical when we first walked in, especially when I saw that the cocktails came in what looked like ziplock bags, and the place was pretty empty, but the food was actually quite good. The cocktails are more a gimmick than anything else (I barely tasted any alcohol), but they were fun (I had the lychee). For food, we had the KIMCHI JJIGAE (PORK BELLY KIMCHI STEW) and the POPCORN CHICKEN. The stew was very flavorful and while I didn't find it to be very spicy, my friend thought it was incredibly spicy.
