Very good chicken pad tai, but I always feel like they don't serve much of it. Pasta can always look deceiving until you start eating a forkful and half the plate is already gone. The mai tai's are very well made and I can taste the alcohol so it's not too sweet. The price is also great! We will be coming back to taste other items on their menu. read more

Anzai is an Asian fusion restaurant that has a full sushi bar inside of it. It's located in East Meadow in the same shopping center as East meadow Bowl and Margaritas Cafe. Their menu is pretty lengthy and I decided to come here this past Father's Day and give it a try due to the great reviews on Yelp. We got a few appetizers and sushi rolls to start out. I was not a fan of the Lobster roll -- it was really small compared to others I've had and carried a really fishy taste... nothing special at all. The spicy rock shrimp were okay but a lot of breading. The california roll is hard to go wrong with so I enjoyed that. The Thai spring rolls were really good and I liked the chili sauce it came with. We decided to go with Sangrias as opposed to cocktails. I went with the green apple sangria which really tasted like an apple martini and my bf got the Pomegranate sangria which was ok. For entrees the kids both decided on the chicken fried rice. That was a good portion and it came with a drink. My bf decided on the General Tso's chicken and that had a really good taste and I loved how it was all white meat however it was supposed to be spicy and it was lacking spice. I went with my all time fav Chicken Pad Thai. At first it was too oily -- I found myself blotting my mouth so I felt compelled to complain. The waitress said that next time I have to ask for "light oil".. umm I'm sorry -- but never in life have I ever ordered pad thai and the grease was sitting on the plate and I eat it allll the time. But I will forgive them because she took it back and they remade it and it came out so delicious just how I like it and I devoured it all. All in all, Anzai is a good restaurant to come to if you're into Asian fusion.I enjoy Wild Ginger in RVC and I feel like this can be one of my alternatives now when I'm in the mood. We don't have many sleek restaurants like this in our neighborhood. I stole a peek (or two) during it's construction and was anxiously awaiting its arrival. Lauren and I had lunch here last week and we were immediately impressed by the decor, service and food. We started with a Trio Spicy Tatar. This was a tuna, salmon, yellowtail sphere topped with tri-colored cavier. The fresh fish was beautifully presented! Meager words cannot do it any justice, so I suggest you go to their website to see professional photos taken of the vast menu choices. Next we had two lunch specials - Sashimi and Sushi & Sashimi. Both meals were served with Soup or Salad, White or Brown or Fried Rice. Once Again, the dishes were picture perfect! The fish was cut beautifully and arranged artfully on the plate. We enjoyed our meal very much! Service was a bit slow, (they seem to be working out the kinks of new ownership) but we didn't mind because the lounge was very comfortable. Went here because we got a gift certificate for Christmas. I read the reviews and was a little worried, but it was good. Pork Gyoza 4/5. Solid app. We loved the Thursday roll, but the sauces were not evenly distributed over each roll. Wish they were. Philly roll was good, not too much philly. Eel roll was well made, and a nice spicy tuna mango (not too much mango). We ended with red bean fried ice cream. Tasty- nice look- what you'd expect. They were out of a lot of their other desserts. We had the Sapporo on tap- nice touch. Service was nice, not slow, not rushed. Waitress could've been a smidge faster on beer refill. We were sat near the front, but didn't feel a breeze from the door (I was worried and had a sweater but didn't need it). Overall- I would go back. Place is was busy, but not packed. This was my first time here. I have been to a few good sushi restaurants in the area but this is by far, my favorite. The menu is really extensive! They even have a sushi pizza. I definitely want to try that next time. I ordered the February roll and the Philadelphia roll. The philly roll was your basic roles but it was very fresh and tasted great. The February roll was delicious. It had spicy crabmeat mixed with mango on the inside. It was so good! I also ordered a half bottle of the Nigori saki. This is a really good unfiltered saki. I recently ordered from Anzai and saw worms inside my my tuna sashimi. I took several photos and was refunded but I thought people should be made aware of this situation. Furthermore, when I sent the pictures to Anzai they tried to say the fish comes that way. And is part of the "blood line." Which is a part of the fish usually unusable and frankly inedible due to high volume blood taste. This "bloodline" is usually stripped and thrown away by restaurants. But this was not the bloodline these were parasitic red worms clearly internal in the flesh of the tuna. I know this because I use to be a fishmonger and can decipher between the two. And I broke it open and you can see that it was. I explained this to Anzai to which they kept telling me "no it's the bloodline but I will still give you a refund." For this tuna to have worms in it, although it has been seen before in many fishes, means that it was probably sold for less. read more

I used to like this place but it's completely gone down in the last year or two! I have been there twice in this past week and got sick BOTH times after having their shrimp!!!!! last week it was me this week was my parents. I called to notify the owner that maybe something was wrong and giving her a heads up and instead she was rude, condescending saying she couldn't change her shrimp and it's one of their top sellers. Beautifully decorated restaurant located in the shopping center next to East Meadow Bowl. Friendly and attentive service without being overbearing. I had the Thai Basil with steak and the meat was tender. My wife had the Curry Snapper dish. I think that was even better than the Thai meal. Wifey and I ordered here just now and I was really impressed with the taste and freshness of the sushi for a local place. The small rolls are reasonably priced and are quite filling. The place was clean looking, looked excellent to dine in, however was there just for take out. Personally I'm a huge Philadelphia Roll fan, and it was so good. The add-ins such as the sesame seeds really gave a great taste, especially how the cucumber slices were so crispy. The Kikkoman sauce with Wasabi and gingered garlic was plentiful, glad they didn't skimp there. The Kani salad was amazing. It didn't have that mayonnaise taste which in my opinion usually spoils the taste, it was some type of sauce that really made this one unforgettable. The crunch/tempura flakes really put this dish over the top, definitely making it a must have every time I order from this place. We also had the "Delicious Roll", and since I'm not a real fan of crab, I didn't have it, but my wife and her sister loved it. They proclaim "it's like a perfect roll in your mouth!" My sister-in-law proclaims "it's the best!" She could not stop giving approbation as I wrote this review. The Perfect Naruto was an interesting twist of a roll, personally I probably wouldn't order it for myself, but my wife loved it also. I really enjoyed the Golden Dragon Roll - it was like everything one would want in a roll, salty, sweet, crunchy, soft. Would look forward to my next meal involving this dish. Am hosting a party tomorrow, ordering the same stuff with some additions, and am looking forward to updating the review to say how it goes, including comments from my friends. Bad food, terrible service, grimy restaurant. Our waitress was very unpleasant. Maybe she was having a bad day, who knows.. I would not have cared if the rest of our experience here was good, but it was not. We were seated in the back and had a clear view of the bar behind which all of the sushi dishes get prepared as well as all the drinks. Right at the entrance of this bar were 2 large garbage pails that were so overfilled with traah that it was spilling out onto the floor. As for the food there is absolutely no finesse in plating like you normally see in Japanese resaurant. The food is just plopped onto a plate without any attempt at making it look pretty. One of the things we ordered was the Trio Tartar. It was very clear that the dish was made out salmon only, but the waitress insisted there were 3 kinds of fish in it. The Carrpaccio was a bizzare mix of large chunks of half cooked fish with salad mix and weird thick sweet sauce. It was not a light dish as, once again, you would expect from a Sushi spot. I am a bit of noodle soup junkie. I have a very discerning palette when it comes to that of ramen and pho. So when I found out this place close to my job has a noodle soup I went to try it. I am glad I did the soup was very tasty the broth was velvety in texture. The food parts of the soup were also really good. I have recently started to eat sushi & have been on a quest trying many different places within my area to find the best. Anzai is modern, clean, & sexy inside & the staff are all extremely personable & gracious. I have yet to dine in but have taken take-out twice. This last time I tried the Golden Dragon Roll & Gyoza appetizer. I wasn't going right home so I figured a cooked shrimp tempura roll would fare much better than raw fish. It was quite good I must admit. Shrimp tempura wrapped in the traditional seafood wrapper with rice filled with avocado, cucumber, avocado, & topped with thin slices of mango & a drizzle of pineapple sauce. Both of the things I ordered were very tasty but I have not had enough here to make a real judgement call. The first time I got take-out i orders the lettuce wraps, miso soup, & edamame. The edamame was good. After all, it's edamame. The lettuce wraps however were not to my liking & I never had miso soup before & discovered that is not to my liking either; however, I think that is just my personal taste & nothing against the miso soup. I'll come again & try other things but I'm still holding steadfast to Kaji of Garden City hands down for the five star sushi experience. read more
