    The Meltdown Smashburger

Gotta love a post-hike burger! The Meltdown Smashburger with mushrooms, sautéed onions, and Swiss cheese was a good one. It came out really quick too! Fries had to be ordered as extra so I feel like the portion could've included a few more, but they were great-tasting.

Walk in, take a deep breath, and order your food at the counter. Yes, you want the fried apple hand pie. You'll get it before anything else. That's okay. Sit down. Pray over your food, and then enjoy every single bite if your hand pie before your food comes. Feel free to order another after your meal. Nice salads and sandwiches. Great service. The only ding in the service is that they wouldn't give me the recipe for the hand pies! I explained that they were the closest thing to my Great Aunt Ruby's hand pies I'd ever found and I needed that recipe. I explained that I was from Utah and would never be back again to enjoy their hand pies. I told them it was important to my family history to be able to make their recipe. No, ma'am. I could not talk them into divulging their recipe. I'm sad that u will never be that way again. If they put out a recipe book, I will be the first to order it.

Hot food, tasty and very nice front porch to eat breakfast with our fur baby. Service was wonderful, and the diner has a great country atmosphere. Buy a fried pie!!

5 Stars - A Must-Stop in Townsend! We traveled down to Townsend, TN from Cincinnati, OH with Dazie, our 1954 CHEV 3100 truck, for the Smoky Mountain Nationals 2025 and stumbled upon Apple Valley Mountain Village & Café--and we're so glad we did! From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed. The weather was damp and chilly, but the food here brought the warmth we needed. I had the chili and cornbread--spicy, hearty, and just the right kind of comfort food for a mountain day. Our son, whose appetite is the stuff of legend, devoured the Wagyu Beef Burger with a side of twisty fries--both top notch. And let's talk about the highlight: the Apple Pie Pocket. Hot, flavorful, and absolutely unforgettable. We joked we could live off of those all weekend (and we meant it). One of our favorite quirky touches? Caroline the Condiment Cow. Yes, she exists. And yes, she made us smile. This place has character, heart, and great food. It's now officially Dazie Approved. We'll be back!

Great experience here! Top notch service with friendly staff. I had to change my daughter's diaper here and there was a changing table for me to use in the bathroom (not at every place unfortunately). The prices were extremely reasonable. Food tasted fresh and not too heavy. Wish it wasn't our last day or else I would be running back for another meal!

Really good little cafe. Our visit was for lunch, and hubby enjoyed a great burger while I enjoyed a yummy chicken salad sandwich. Hubby got sidewinder fries, puffy potato small wedges that are crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside. My sandwich was served on grilled sourdough, and it was a large sandwich stuffed full. Complex has a cute general store to browse afterwards and a sporting goods store adjacent. Definitely worth a stop in charming Townsend!

Peanut and Cashew loved their visit to the Apple Valley Cafe in Townsend today! The staff was so friendly and gave them water and pup cups, turned on the heaters so they'd be warm, and shared their own stories and photos of their pets at home! 5 separate employees came out to say hi to them. A+ celebrity treatment. Also the food was fantastic! Their humans had the chicken salad salad and the chili bowl which were both delicious. Everyone was really friendly and helpful.

We stopped by this place on the back way to Dollywood and it was super cute! It was nice stop in an otherwise rural area to find a restaurant, store and ice cream shop. I got a sandwich but the star of the show was their curly fries. They were delicious.

You walk in and place your order at the counter , they give you a number and bring your order out to you. Drinks and coffee are self serve. Food was ok. The biscuits were nice and fluffy but everything else was about "fast food" quality. Employee was nice and it's very clean. Sausage gravy tasted like nothing but flour. Paid $21.00 for 1 biscuit and gravy, a bacon egg and cheese biscuit and 2 drinks. Prices are high for some things and super low for others. They have a little seating inside and quite a bit of seating outside.

My husband also really liked his latte. We sat inside and ate some of our goodies. We took the rest home for my mum for Mother's Day. My family loved them, too. Nice space. We also bought some whole wheat flour as a gift while there. Will absolutely go back when I'm in the area.

If I'd had more time, I would have loved hanging out here for a while. I only managed to get here about 45 minutes to close, so their selection was understandably if somewhat disappointingly quite picked over. I wound up with a cranberry oat scone and a blueberry and raspberry hand tart. The employee was very pleasant and warm. I appreciated her eagerness to help and positive attitude despite my late arrival. The baked goods sadly didn't really live up to my expectations. The cranberry oat scone was the much better of the two; it was pleasantly sweet and had the proper scone texture and only a little dry. Unfortunately, the hand tart had several edges that I discovered later had been burnt. This impacted the flavor of the whole item and sadly diminished it greatly. The fruit filling was tasty at least, though I didn't get much raspberry from it -- mostly blueberry. I'd be down to try again in the future, just would come earlier in the day when the selection is a bit larger and the products available are a bit more "choice," let's say. I appreciated the kind service and lovely vibes!

Some attractions sell an experience…read more Some sell a product. The Apple Barn Cider Mill somehow manages to do both. What started as a simple stop turned into one of the more enjoyable experiences of our trip. The star of the visit was our guide, who took us on a cider journey through the various flavors and offerings. She was friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely seemed to enjoy what she was doing. She answered questions, explained the differences between the ciders, and made the tasting experience fun instead of feeling like a sales pitch. And since there's a chance she might somehow see this review: Happy 40th Birthday! Sorry I forgot your name, but your hospitality certainly wasn't forgettable. Now let's talk about the cider. Excellent. There was a large variety of flavors available to sample, making it easy to compare styles and find a favorite. Whether you're new to cider or consider yourself a seasoned enthusiast, there's enough variety here to keep things interesting. After sampling our way through the lineup, we wound up purchasing a glass of the original apple cider and enjoyed it outside. And honestly, that's where the experience really came together. Sitting outside with a fresh cider in hand, playing cornhole and Jenga, enjoying the atmosphere, and slowing down for a little while made for a genuinely relaxing afternoon. No rushing. No crowds pushing you along. Just good cider and good company. We also picked up a growler to bring back to the hotel because one thing became very clear during the tasting process: leaving empty-handed would have been a mistake. The Apple Barn Cider Mill does a great job creating an experience that's welcoming, fun, and memorable without feeling overly commercialized. Great cider. Great staff. Great atmosphere. Five stars. And judging by the growler currently waiting back at the hotel, I'm already looking forward to my next visit.
