Didn't really know what to expect when I walked in.. definitely wasn't the usual crowd I'm used too. Seen a mixture of people so I didn't feel completely out of place. Me and a friend had reservations and got seated quickly. Sat on the one sided booth that shares a chair directly across from it. Booth wasn't at all the most comfortable but the setting was very nice. I ordered the seafood linguine and it was very very good. Only thing I wasn't pleased with, is that it had the shelled mussels sitting in the pasta. I had to go through one by one and pick the mussels out of the shell to enjoy my linguine. Very time consuming. It also could've used more shrimp (3) and scallops (2). For dessert I had the Kit Kat cake... Not impressed (lacked flavor) but they had a variety of desserts so if you go you may want to try something else. They give u about 4/5 slices of hard cheese, and 1 glob of soft cheese, and some FIGJAM (that's right biatches!); no really, they do give you some jam made from figs. It's ok, but it was 9 dollars. We have only come for brunch, so I cannot speak for their other menus, but this is an affordable and tasty option for those looking for brunch in Midtown. They have good cocktails and coffee, which is a must for me, as well as a decent variety of foods to choose from. There's some healthier options, which I appreciate, but also some super indulgent ones, which you have to allow yourself to enjoy every once in a while!! The outdoor seating area is nice if they have the umbrellas open. If they don't it can get a little hot. I came here with a good friend for dinner and had the seafood special. It had fish, scallops, shrimp, muscles, and squid in a fish stock. The taste was awesome, and I wanted to drink the broth. I am having a quiet afternoon enjoying a lunch at Apres Diem with the great company of me, myself and I! :) They have a quaint outdoor seating area right as you walk in that is technically outside, but because of the winter, it's enveloped with floor to ceiling clear plastic windows and some nice heating system, which gives the best of both worlds - you get to be outside and enjoy the sun, but at the same time stay warm. I snagged a small two top right next to this plastic wall and it is giving me the vitamin D I've been craving after weeks of biting cold temperatures and gray skies. The atmosphere, even in this makeshift quasi room, is charming. The ceiling is painted blue with various shapes of sun spirals scattered about. Also tasteful Christmas style bulbs skip across. As for the food - I'll say very good. I got excited to see buttermilk biscuits as a side option on the menu and ordered one. My waitress was super sweet and she went out of her way to get the fluffiest one that she could find. I appreciate her effort but unfortunately it wasn't the best that I've had, however it did satisfy my pallet and that was enough. Really though, thanks to her recommendation of adding smoked gouda cheese to my sandwich, that was the star. I had a Roasted Portabello sandwich, which they make with peppers, roasted eggplant Portobello, tomato, lettuce, sun dried tomato, mayo, feta, and sautéed onions. The melted cheese with the sautéed onions blended with the sun dried tomato was a hit and the flavors just danced in my mouth. It's been so long since I've enjoyed a good lunch out on my own while soaking in the sun and enjoying all senses. The key difference between casual dining in America vs Europe is that in America, you eat and you leave (like, 30 minutes max for your average casual lunch out?). I was there on Wednesday evening April 4th, 2018. They have live jazz on Wednesday evenings. The club/restaurant was having a going away celebration for tenor saxophone player Sil Spann who is moving overseas to Hong Kong for an extended stay. Sil and the band sounded good as usual. I had heard the bass player, Neil Starkey, in the 1990s, playing regularly at the Penta Hotel in midtown Atlanta. There were a number of singers sitting in during the first set. Then as the second set began, a lady named Juju, sat behind a pair of conga drums. There had been no drummer playing during the first set. All of a sudden the atmosphere in the in the room changed. It was if someone had flipped a switch. The room was alive, on fire, moving to the groove of a hard-swinging jazz beat driven by Juju, playing the congas. I was at the bar. People were looking at each other smiling. Apres Diem had instantly become a hip place. The rest of the evening was fun. Juju also sings and resurrected memories of Dinah Washington with her own, soulful interpretation of "What A Difference A Day Makes". It could have been called "what a difference a swinging percussionist makes. By the way, I had an excellent linguini and seafood plate. This was a great way to spend a Wednesday evening. read more

I often come here after seeing a movie at the Landmark theatre in Midtown or after being on the beltline since it is close by. The service is usually attentive and I have no complaints there. Their patio is nice to eat on during the summer. They have heaters on during the fall and winter which are an added comfort. Located in the same shopping center as Trader Joe's and Midtown Art Cinema in Midtown, Apres Diem is a wonderfully low key spot that should not be over looked. Not to mention, on Tuesday nights they offer half price bottles of wine and $5 tapas. Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to wine, but expect to spend $15-20 on wine. Now the food. I had 4 orders of the braised beef ravioli because it was mouth watering incredible. This place would be perfect for a date or for a few friends looking to enjoy beautiful weather on a lovely patio. She loved both and the crab cakes were so big she couldn't finish them. The Crustini looked perfect. I had Seafood Linguini. It comes with shrimp, scallops, and mussels. I came to this restaurant with a friend of mine for a girls dinner. I had made the reservations for us through Yelp, and even received a confirmation text of our reservation that day. When we got there, the receptionist had no reservation of us and told me that if I received a text, it wasn't from them. I ordered the short ribs and we got the hummus starter. The hummus had a good amount of dipping items (veggies and pita) and it had a great flavor. The short ribs were so tender. I came to this place a few years ago, when I was still living outside of Atlanta. I had good memories, so I wanted to check it out again. Sometimes, things are better in your head than they are in reality. Specifically, I remembered they had a really good burger, so that's what I ordered: grass-fed angus burger. It had gorzongola cheese, sauteed onions, roasted portobello mushrooms, on an onion roll. I asked for medium, but it came out closer to done, and thus was a bit dry. They went a little heavy on the salt too. And this is after I came into the restaurant near famished, so the taste buds would have been appeased with pretty much anything. Needless to say, I was a bit disappointed. The portion size is good though. They also give you a small batch of fries, and a small side salad. I can't help but think that they had something called a Kobe burger back in the day, but I suppose a few years is a lot of time for a menu to change. Sadly, I didn't get to stay around for dessert or coffee, but I'll definitely hit that up next time. And I do plan on a next time, because there are promising items on the menu. The service was decent too, no complaints in that department. Our server was prompt, attentive, and had our check ready for us quickly since I let him know we had a time restraint.
