Went to the subway in Redding on hilltop drive. At 840pm. It said online they didn't close til 9. The guy inside had locked the door already (keep in mind we drove all the way across town because it said they were open which they should've been open til 9). So I knocked he ignored me. I knocked again he shouted "we're closed" and didn't even bother to look up from whatever he was doing. So I knocked again and he stormed over to the door, opened it up very rudely. Asked what we needed. So we told him that they are supposed to be open til 9 and that we drove 15 mins across town to come there and we're wondering why they were closed early or if online was wrong. He then stated "we closed early because we closed early". So me getting pissed off at this point because everything else closes at 9 and we were going to be sol on getting dinner after a long long work day, rudely stated that "it was bs they would close 20 minutes early even though they have customers there". He swung the door open and said "fine come on in". Everything was already completely packed up and put away. Registered counted out and literally it looked like everything possible to close was done which meant they closed at least 30-45 mins early because that's a lot to put away and do in a few minutes, alone. He slapped some bread on the counter at this point very very disrespectful, so we just left and said Nevermind. Not going to sit there with him huffing and puffing making us sloppy ass sandwiches while he complains about grabbing everything he shouldn't have even put away yet. I love subway but this experience, the waste of gas, time and having to drive clear across town the other way to get dinner due to it then being about 9pm and nothing nearby was open we were wanting, I might not go back and I might not recommend them to anyone. Which is a bummer but it left a very sour taste in my mouth with how disrespectful and honestly out of line the worker was. He seemed to be on drugs with how he was acting but that is making an assumption. Just very fidgety, pupils were very small and dilated and he was so irritable over something he caused and had very dry mouth when talking and being rude.

It wasn't overly messy either. The fries are fresh from potatoes, so they had a lot of airy crunchy ones, which are my favorite. They don't give complimentary water, so next time I'll bring my water bottle with me since I don't drink soda. It was pricey, but so are the other burger places. I would definitely go back.

Anyways, I like this location a lot more than the Kapolei location because it's bigger and it's not white light reflecting off white light, much easier on the eyes. I took off two stars because I ordered the same grilled cheese that I did the day before, had a great experience and it was night and day this time around. The one I had in Kapolei was able to melt the cheese, but this one didn't even seem like they tried...so I asked if they could make it again. Understandably, when I asked if they could make it again, they asked what was wrong and I told them the cheese wasn't melted, which sets my expectations for the next one. They made another one (begrudgingly) and I got the same results as far as the cheese. But at least this one was warm so more heat did hit the cheese, but just not enough to melt it per my request. Other than my sad grilled cheese (that wasn't grilled) the fries were great and my friends who got actual burgers were very happy with their food.

Got there just after 11:30AM and there was no line. I was greeted by a nice young girl who took my order. I noticed the area in front of the counter was very clean as well as the area where the sandwiches are made. After she took my order, I proceeded along the counter as they made my sandwich. When it came time to pay at the register. I let the girl know I had a gift card but wanted to scan my Subway app so I get credit for the order. She must have been fairly new because after she scanned it & I asked her if I just slide the gift card, she said, oh, I scanned it and it took payment off the app. I repeated what I had told her so she was trying to fix her mistake but being new, asked another girl to help her. The other more experienced girl walked her thru what she needed to do so they had to credit what was charged back on my card. After all this, then slid my gift card but it kept coming up with an error. I explained I've never used the card and had it for a year. Both girls kept trying but same issue so they had to call the mgr/owner. I explained the same thing to him and again, ran the card, with the same error message. I asked him if he could manually enter the bar code numbers on the register & he said no that I had to do it off the app. I asked him how do I do that? He said he didn't know. It was very frustrating & he was of no help. I ended up having to pay and not use my gift card. When I got home, I checked online the balance on the card & guess what? It was for the exact amount of what it should be. I don't know what happened on their end because my gift card was legit. It made for an unpleasant customer service experience. On a side note, the sandwich was better that what I had expected. Besides the deli turkey slices and veggies, it had stuffing that tasted like stove-top, and cranberry sauce which looked like ketchup but tasted like the real thing. It's worth a try.

Service was fast and friendly, and there's lots of free parking, which is always a win. Not fancy, not gourmet -- just a filling, cheesy, satisfying bite when you want something different.

Compared to a couple other L&Ls that we visited during our trip, this location seems to give you a slightly larger portion of meat. Note that this location charges for tap water. This was the only restaurant that we dined at in Oahu that had this policy. Since this location is near the airport, you need to take a ticket to park in the lot. The first two hours of parking are free with validation. Overall, prices here were slightly higher than those other two locations, but I guess they make up for it with the marginally better portions!
