One of our regular neighborhood haunts in EAV. Sometimes parking can be a mess but it's so worth it. We love getting a spot near the patio when it's a little warm outside and just posting up with some delicious drinks. I legit can't stop getting their Plancha Burger with fries. And if it's on the menu, definitely get the vegan poutine fries. You really can't go wrong here, unless you get the Mac and cheese. It's not the best, but hey--who am I to say. read more

Went to Argosy for a late night dinner with my guy. We were looking for something open late Friday night and were happy to see the kitchen was open until 12. When we got there we were promptly seated and given menus. We really liked the decor and atmosphere and it seemed like a cool place bring friends. I had the lamb gnocchi which was really good. The gnocchi was light and lamb was pretty tender and my partner had the trout, which he enjoyed. His only complaint was that the portion was bit on the small side. The beer list was extensive and I enjoyed the wide the selection. Service, food and atmosphere were all pretty good and I look forward to going back to try other items on the menu. What a fun place to hang. East Atlanta can get so crazy on the weekend. I am so glad that the Argosy has their own parking lot. Friends and I went here for dinner. I got a Pimm's Cup (so many places don't have this!) and a Plancha burger (caramelized onions, cheese, pickles) with bacon. The drink was alright. The burger was very good. We weren't ready to call it a night, so we decided to go to hang out at the bar and play games. I learned out to play shuffleboard! How very fun. And we also played some skeeball- reminded me of childhood. East Atlanta isn't too far away from me, so I expect that I will be back! read more

Came here for Scoutmob brunch. First, the decor. Inside, it somehow is reminiscent of a swanky log cabin. Yes this works somehow. And outside, the porch is perfect for eating brunch on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. We started with Bloody Mary's. Holy. Crap. Real pulpy tomato juice, spicy and delicious. I had the BBQ one (it has bacon!) but I tried the other and it also was amazing. Our waiter had a great sense of humor. We were in no rush, and that's for the best. This place has a relaxed vibe. I was completely underwhelmed with the food here. We came for brunch on Saturday and were seated even though it was fairly busy. We ordered some drinks which were good. They've got a lot of cool drinking specials so check that out. I ordered the chicken biscuit with a side of French fries (they charge extra for each sauce) the fries were really good but the chicken was chewy and the biscuit was okay. What an amazing selection of craft beer and wine they have, I would could here for that alone and just to hang out at the bar. They have a very lively crowd, lots of board games and a game room in the back. This is a massive bar/restaurant in East Atlanta Village and a popular local late-night watering hole. Open until 2am every night, this restaurant dishes out funky craft brews and everything from mini hot dogs, to gourmet pizzas, to seasonal entrees. They have a resident DJ and this a great place to bring a group of friends for drinks in the spacious beer garden. I tried the Butcher's Block pizza which features roasted tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, olive oil, garlic and duck prosciutto. It was huge and two people could definitely share it. I also had a Cobb salad with smoked salmon added. I tried the Milano craft cocktail(1792 bourbon, orange bitters and amaro) quite tasty! This establishment works hard to provide an unique experience. In doing so, they miss some important points. This is not a Michelin Starred restaurant, yet they treat their menu items as some culinary experience which can not be altered. They are fussy! The menu has at least three or four sections that have a notice about changes to the items not being allowed. On the drink menu, there's a tacky note about signature drinks being final sale and to be sure you know what you're ordering. Get the spicy popcorn - it's a real treat! With that said, the service was as expected although we did need to track our server down for the check. read more

I had been to the back bar area a handful of times and thoroughly enjoyed my experience there. it's spacious with a decent amount of seating. The bartender made excellent drinks. And overall, I'm into the décor and ambiance (a mix of mid-century and industrial). I had been eyeing the pizzas and plates on my way to the bar. I finally had my first sit down dinner experience and it was just average. I ordered the Boss Hog pizza, trout entree and spicy popcorn as a snack. the pizza was tough and with underwhelming flavors. It needed more sauce and seasoning. it was also was lukewarm by the time it arrived at the table. The trout itself was prepared nicely. it was served with a seasonal vegetable mix. the potato was raw and undercooked/cold. The rest of the mix contained sausage and it tasted pretty good. The popcorn was not very spicy and mostly just salty. overall, I wasn't very impressed with the food. the service was excellent however. I will return for the ambiance and drinks. Argosy is our go to for late night eats, and when we can't decide where to go. The pizza is great- we usually get the Boss Hog because it's meaty and full of flavor, and has fennel. I think the fennel is nostalgic from childhood Totinos pizzas. The Plancha is also no fail. Perfect double patty cheeseburger with excellent hand cut fries. More of a 3.5 I'd been wanting to try Argosy for awhile now so when a friend was having her birthday here I was excited to check it out along with just the fact of having a nice night out with friends. We ended up visiting twice in a relatively short time. Once for the party and another time to get a better taste of the 'Impossible Burger.' My friend had touted it as being a solid A++ veggie burger. You have to request this burger and you can get it without cheese as well. My first visit I got the quinoa burger which was interesting, but weirdly unimpressive and unmemorable. For the most part a lot of their food was very unmemorable. Surprisingly so. We also tried the cauliflower nuggets which weren't bad, but not great. The next time I went I tried the Impossible Burger and fries. It's like an all-American type of burger. It has a nice char too it. Fries were very boring. Overall, the burger is pretty good though. However, I don't think I'd go back for it. Service was fine, but rather aloof and got our orders mixed up a little the first time around, but friendly and courteous--- nothing terrible. Ambiance is nice. I think Argosy is a good place to come and get a drink and be with friends. While the food was a little lacking for me despite a solid and amazing looking menu, it's still not a bad spot to have a get together or a fancier bite to eat. read more

I'm really digging these cool, hip restaurants in Atlanta that are vegetarian friendly. This is the first place that I've ever had a tofu scrambled - it was so good! If I truly had to stop eating eggs and just eat a tofu scrambled from Argosy for the rest of my life, I think I can handle that. The bartender was great and really attentive. Argosy is great for food, but it's such a cool hang out spot. The design is casual but hip, a really industrial type look. I could have stayed here for hours catching up with old friends. Good food and a couple of mimosas can do that to you, you think it's noon and it turns out to be 4 p.m. Looking forward to coming back here on my next trip! read more

Argosy is one our favorite restaurants in EAV and the space is beautiful. My husband and i had our first date there in 2013. I will always remember sitting in the top level by the painted owl. However-- more than once we've ordered dishes that miss the mark or the bar has run out of beers that we try to order. In the first year it was open they started strong but they have not been consistent. Sometimes when you order a cocktail it comes in a glass that is not fitting for the drink. Hate that! We will continue to be regulars and we are cheering on our neighborhood restaurant. Brunch is yummy, veggie burgers are great, and I love the late night pizza! The back room (I forgot the name of it) is so fun with skee ball and shuffle board. I like how they have tables to the right that are good for big groups. Argosy's COVID19 response is admirable on so many levels. The attention they're paying to safety for their employees and guests is remarkable. I mean.. they have free toilet paper if you need it. They go so far to have individual cups for sanitized and non sanitized pens.. they sanitize you're credit card and they all of this while still providing hot, tasty food. It's sad to see how empty the parking lot is these days. Support local, order some pick-up and make sure to tip. read more

I love Argosy. Super cozy atmosphere. They have a weekend brunch menu and a dinner menu. The atmosphere is perfect for a night out with friends or a date night. The decor is unique and pleasing to the eye. Their pizza is wood fired which is my favorite. They also have ski ball so bring your quarters. Stumbled upon this tasty gastro pub by accident and I am so glad we did! Very nice selection of craft beer. My guy and I each had a stout to start off with. We couldn't decide weather we wanted a burger or a pizza so we ordered the burger I believe it was called plancho (delicious!) And the Admiral pizza. The pizza didn't disappoint either! The service was fast and friendly. We loved the way the place is laid out. Huge bar area along with tables, and couch seating. Patio was nice too. I've been to Argosy maybe a dozen times in the past few years. There's a few spots in the neighborhood with good food at fair prices and this area is convenient to my new home in Kirkwood. The past few visits I'm getting a really weird vibe from the staff. I don't know if this place has a general problem with morale or what but the general "I could give a s****t attitude from the hostess matched the attitude I got from the last visit, a different host, upon arrival. Today the hostess seemed to really hate her job as well as having to talk to us. We just wanted a table, nothing complicated. I kept all communication to a minimum as I could see it was pure agony. My last visit was comical as the host when finally showing some acknowledgement that we were there in the doorway started what I might only describe a charades style body language as if to say "what do you want?" as opposed to "may I help you?" or "welcome to Argosy". We chuckled and thought what a weirdo and told him we were here for dinner and had a overpriced pizza and beer. The space itself is beautiful and the food is decent although very small portions. I had a laugh out loud lox and bagel there a brunch which one would have to ask, "If you're going to serve this to someone and charge for it why not do it right?". Something like that is not complicated. This is certainly not a destination type place and would only end up here if in the area with no other option. It's a shame because the neighborhood is very interesting and I've toyed with the idea of having some work events here as the space and the hood would be fun for my visiting peeps but I can't trust the inconsistent moody staff for that. But it is EAV and they have their own way and I wish them luck. Live and let live and I'll go elsewhere in EAV. I wish they'd ban smoking next door because the food is much better and the price is right. My promise is to always leave a good review for a business whenever I leave a bad one so I need to review annother restaurant now. read more

Been awhile since I've dined here. The beer list is pretty extensive and the pizza is normally good. I've enjoyed dining on the patio in the past. You get free breadsticks with beer purchase. I have frequented Argosy, one of the hottest spots in East Atlanta Village, in the past for drinks on the front patio or in the nightclub in the back, but this time, we stopped in on a rainy Saturday afternoon for a snack. The interior is nothing short of stunning- large and dimly-lit with wood accents, making for a cozy lodge feeling. This place is known for their wood-fired pizzas, but we shared the fries, which were just okay, but the dipping sauces really carried the day. We tried the bleu cheese, buffalo and the spice-forward curry ketchup, all of which were incredible. We also shared the Thai peanut tofu starter, which consists of fried tofu topped with a peanut sauce, crushed peanuts and cilantro. It was outrageously good- crunchy, well-seasoned but simple. I had a glass of vinho verde, and she had the Smoke on the Water- a velvety and smoky gray mezcal cocktail with crème de violette, a perfect match for the moody weather. The food is good, beer and cocktail menu is unmatched. Service, however, is consistently poor. Be prepared for an unnecessarily long wait.... for instance tonight we experienced over 4.5 hours round trip. We arrived at 7:30p. Finally sat at 9pm. We finished our meal by 10:30p and after prompting our waiter multiple times, we are waking out now at 11:52pm. Waiting over an hour to close out seems unprecedented. Waiting nearly two hours is unacceptable. I wish I could say this was an isolated event, but the servers always seem to have a lack of urgency to flip tables, or even serve tables. My brother in law loved his fried chicken sandwich. His mom ordered the mild version, but was still too spicy for her. They were very nice and took it off the bill right away. 4.5 Come here and order the chicken. 'Whhaaa???' I know. I know. Chicken. At a restaurant. But please believe me when I say this was some of the best d@mn chicken I have ever eaten and one of my closest friends is a relative of Colonel Sanders.* Let me back up. Argosy is cool. I don't know if it tries to hard to be cool or not. I don't live in Atlanta. But when I rolled up, my first thoughts were, 'Well, all right...' The space is LARGE. There are two levels, a back room, lots of interesting seating, games to play, people to look at, nasty asses who don't wash their hands in the restroom (I had to mention it; I was disgusted. This man unleashed the funk of 40,000 years and didn't wash his blankity-blank hands. Nasty. You nasty!), and a menu that can accommodate most any taste. But before you get to the task of eating, you have to know that there's drinking to be done. I was very impressed with the cocktail program at Argosy. It's really good and well-developed. Like, it's not good 'for a restaurant.' It's really good. Period. During my evening of foolishness, I tried the 3 Blind Mice, Harmony #2 (I'm finally getting on the gin bandwagon; by now, I'm sure something else is much cooler), and the Judge's Niece. One of these drinks would have made me toasty. After all three, I was speaking in tongues, slapping people like my name was Louise Belcher and keeping it to myself that I was fully in charge of my faculties while doing both of the above. Drink here. Find excuses to engage in socially unacceptable behavior. Okay. The chicken. I can't. I can't! It's so freaking good! It's a giant hunk of brilliantly roasted chicken (a proper roast fowl is not an easy thing to achieve eg all those dry-ass Thanksgiving turkeys) on a bed of smoked garlic mashed potatoes (yes, Lawd!), served with seasoned vegetables (lookit you, eating healthy) and adorned with a small lake of chicken jus. When I tell you this chicken was moist, seasoned, creative, delectable, and d@mn near one of the best things I put in my mouth in 2016, you need to believe me. And it's only $14! There's absolutely no reason (zero. none) for you not eating this bird if you live in Atlanta (OTP, you get a break; traffic is awful). The worst service I've ever had in Atlanta. We had track down our server twice - once because he never came to take our order and again because he never brought the check. My husband and I have come here manyyyy times and we love it! Argosy is spacious, casual and delivers on delicious food and drinks every time. It's one of our favorite places in EAV because there's something here for everyone. Thoughts and Recommendations: - Food: Guys, this place has such a solid variety of food and it's all SO GOOD! Best part, there are vegetarian friendly options (woop woop!). You can't go wrong with any of their pizzas. They have a wood-fire oven that keeps going til 1:30AM. Their burgers are BOMB. We recently tried their new Impossible burger and I swear it tastes just like beef! (*mind-blown*). Their sides are also fantastic! We recommend the Mac and Cheese or Brussels sprouts. - Drinks: Again, such an awesome variety of drinks! They're always changing up their cocktails menu, they have an extensive beer list (foreign, craft, ciders, etc), and wine. - Ambiance: It's so fun and casual here. It's not dirty looking like the rest of EAV. There's a level of class in here for sure but no pressure to dress up. This place consists of dim lighting, and all kinds of seating- booths, couches, tables, high top, and patio. - Service: Everyone from the hostess to the bartenders have always been exceptionally kind and helpful. If we can't decide what to order from the menu or would like a different table, the staff at Argosy is ready to help. Be warned about a long wait in the evening on the weekends. They don't take reservations for parties less than 8 so on a weekend night expect a 45 minute to an hour long wait. Overall, we highly recommend this place! Pleasantly surprised when we finally visited Argosy. We live just a short distance away for the last couple of years but had never tried it. We loved it! Great casual atmosphere. It was really busy on a Thursday night. Food was excellent, we had burgers and a pizza. The pizza we didn't like so much, maybe it was cooked too long. It was like eating a cracker so we'd pass on that in the future. The burger and the fries were awesome though! Ordered a saison which was clearly flat (have had it at the brewery that makes it). Asked for a replacement and was told no because they have a "no replacement policy" because many of their beers are small batch or from out of the country... This was from Savannah and on tap there. I cannot recommend this place enough, I come here for brunch on a fairly regular basis and first things first BEST GRITS IN ATLANTA. Whatever you get make sure you get the grits on the side, so creamy and delicious it tastes like everything I've ever wanted in one bowl I'm serious GET THE GRITS. The chicken they use is amazing as well it's seared to perfection and has just the right amount of crunch while rolling in flavor. The chicken is served in several of their dishes such as chicken and pancakes, or chicken biscuit with fried eggs. Then of course there is the atmosphere, they have this kinda of steampunk/old sailing ship vibe goin on. All very tastefully done and lots of interesting bits to look at. I had really high expectations for Argosy after so many people told me about it and after looking through the menu. I went with a group of friends so we split a few pizzas and snacks. I was personally most excited for the EAV dog and the Mermaid Pizza. The Hot dog was very meh...there wasn't much flavor even though it was covered in chili and cheese. The pizza was advertised as having goat cheese on it, so i was ready for some of that delicious, creamy goat cheese flavor. But when we got the pizza, the crust was slightly burned and there was barely any goat cheese on it. Even though i am not a huge fan of the food, their beer selection is insane and there is a lot of space both outside on the patio and inside. I have since come back for happy hours with friends to grab drinks and definitely like it much more in this capacity. I think I may be one of the few people in Atlanta who was disappointed by Argosy, so it's definitely worth a try. If not, you know you'll get some great beer there at the very least. read more
