I hired Armada Services for recurring pest control at my house in San Francisco, CA, in July of last year. I have lived at the house myself and managed the pests myself for several years; however after moving out of state and renting the place out, I was not able to do the pest control anymore so I looked for a professional service. Armada told me they provided rodent as well as insect control, so it seemed like a good deal. I hired them for MONTHLY visits, to be sure things would be kept under control because the rats do tend to come from the neighbor's property and chew through the walls in my garage. Things were okay for a couple of months after I left, however, a few months after hiring Armada, a tenant informed me that there was a mouse in their room and crawling on their bed, and my garage also was starting to get infested with rats because they were seeing droppings all around. I called Armada about this, wondering if they had ever caught a rat or mouse in the traps they had set for rodent control, and they told me no, they had never caught anything. I asked them what kinds of traps they are using (the answer is those cheap wire snap ones), and what kind of bait, because before hiring Armada I used to catch rodents regularly myself in the garage with electric traps, so they ought to have caught something by now. I told them the rodents at my house don't seem to like (or know better than) to eat the store-bought bait and they should use peanut butter or walnuts (I know this from experience), and Christopher (who apparently is manager/supervisor/owner) just referred me to their bait website "if I have any questions about its effectiveness". I told him I don't care what the bait website is, it's obviously not effective (or something about Armada's methods are not effective) in this situation if they have not ever caught a single rodent, whatever the website claims. Christopher just told me the rodent problem inside my house was "normal" because it had been rainy, so the rodents move inside and it is "normal" to see "increased activity", and the only thing to stop the rats would be to close up the rat hole in the garage, which I explained to him I did not want to do, because every time I close up a hole, they chew through a new place somewhere else (I have about 9 to 11 places closed already in that garage wall where they keep coming from the neighbors), and the last time the rats chewed a new hole through it was in a major support joist for the house. So I would prefer that Armada just do their job to catch and kill the rodents that get into the garage, and this way keep them from getting past the garage and into my house. Besides, shouldn't it be easier to catch a rodent where there has been high activity? Shouldn't their traps be activated at least occasionally if their methods are effective? But no, instead of changing their traps or bait, Armada brought over one poison station of the exact same kind they had already been using which the rats were not attracted to (and which they placed in the backyard, no where near the infestation problem, and the rats at my house also seem to know not to eat), and they set two 50-cent wire snap traps of the exact same variety/bait as before. So, since I had a tenant complaining, and I needed something done right away, and since my professional pest control service was not helping, I called a friend of mine for help who is a property manager, and he went over and set some different kinds of traps for me (black rat snap traps with teeth and walnuts for the bait; glue traps for the mouse), and he caught 2 rats and one mouse in the garage within 24 hours --- More rodents than Armada somehow managed to catch in 6+ months. Since then, my friend has been checking his as well as the Armada traps for me weekly. One Armada trap was activated at one point but without catching anything and it was never re-baited or re-set by Armada, and no attempt was made to ever change, adjust, or improve their methods to actually CATCH a rodent (meanwhile my friends's traps have caught 10 or more rats). After I complained a second time to Armada that their methods still were not working, but my friend's were, and to please try using different traps and bait (I let them know exactly what my friend was using that was working, as well), you know what they did? Instead of doing anything to adjust their methods, instead of upping their game to actually CATCH/kill any rodents at my house, they just said "I'm not a good fit for their services" and canceled my contraact. HORRIBLE , HORRIBLE customer care/loyalty. Christopher was rude and unprofessional and obviously does not care about his clients or their pest issues. I highly DO NOT recommend. read more

The best pest control company in the bay area, hands down. One of the only ones that deals with pigeons (and pigeon poop). Chris was an absolute life saver. Instead of coming to us, a tenant decided to complain directly to the city about pigeons in the light well. Chris from Armada came quickly, assessed the situation, and had the pigeon netting up within days. They helped us in dealing with the city when it came time to clean the light well as well. I had a family of pigeons that kept returning, no matter what I did to deter them. I reached out to Armada through yelp to see if they could come out to assess the situation. They immediately got back to me and set me up with an appointment with Christopher. Christopher arrived on time and gave me some options of how I could solve my issue. Christopher ended up setting up a pigeon trap that was able to humanely catch the pigeons so they could be relocated (far) away from my property. Just in case you were wondering, the trap contained food, water, and even a shade cover so they didn't get too hot while waiting to be relocated. This was my 1st time having to call a pest control service. I looked on Yelp and they were the first to respond and that was in the evening! I could not believe someone was available and was able to schedule a free consultation the following day. Christopher called me on his way to my home. He arrived and was very professional and friendly. I explained to him that I smelled something awful in the crawl space under my house and that we had rats. He walked around and looked at the perimeter of my house. We went into the house with his foot booties and then he crawled down into the crawl space under my house. He advised me that he could smell something but could not see anything. He also looked for any termites. He was very through. He provided me with recommendations and a spray to get rid of the odor. I'm disappointed. I hired Armada to come spray monthly and it seemed like a great deal! However, they showed up once and then never again. The tech was awesome and I would have really liked to use this company monthly, but to schedule with them is impossible, they never came last month and then when I called trying to schedule the company always said they were the messenger and someone would call me back. They never did (3x I called), so I contacted Chris (who helped set this whole thing up on the first place, maybe he's in charge here I'm not even sure) he at least answered and we got one scheduled. However, I had to reschedule because I was out of town last min. Well to reschedule I emailed 2x and called Chris but no answer. I also called the company and they just said "ok someone will call you back goodbye", I was like wait, what's the process of cancelling? She said I'm just the messenger. I said ok so if no one calls me back what should I do? Keep calling? She told me it was up to me. Seriously? What kind of customer service is this. So I emailed Chris and finally got a response he would cancel. Anyways, moral of the story is, customer service majorly sucks and they really don't care about servicing your home. We were overrun with Mousekevitz and Ratatouille! They'd managed to infiltrate even the most hidden places of our sprawling rural abode. Their nocturnal activity was loud and unmistakable.
