We fell in love with their food back years ago when they were open along Valley Blvd near Del Mar Ave. We revisited last night, and were pleased that their family style charm and home style cooking were still alive and well. The atmosphere is festive and there were customers singing karaoke. Portions are generous for prices well under $20. The food is still tasty good from years past. I ordered the Armando's Mex Carnitas burrito, Vanessa the owner asked if I wanted red or green sauce I asked which is spicier? The service was amazing and thoughtful and very understanding and I wish I could tip more but I am not rich so I gave a representative 2 dollars for being kind as a tip. Again I wanted to tip more. It's just not the same. The main lady is so nice and always with a smile. I appreciate that. The tostada chips and dip are good, and no complaints on the horchata and coke. The food however has drastically changed since its old location more west on Garvey. The taquitos fell apart as soon as I picked them up from my plate. They were so soggy it broke in half. The enchilada was a tortilla dipped in red sauce and had cheese sprinkled on top, the plate was hotter than the enchilada. The rice and beans weren't bad, however someone in my group tried my beans n rice and they noted they did not taste as good as theirs. The steak picado was more vegetables than meat and it was more in a tomato sauce. It wasn't worth finishing or taking home. Saturday night seems to be karaoke night, be prepared - it gets full of the people who don't have talent but tried.... Went here because my friend wanted to try a new restaurant so we came here and found this through Yelp. We ordered 2 molcajetes and 4 beers. The food took a while , but like I always say, good food takes time. And the wait was worth it. We both finished every bite of these molcajetes. I mean its a full 10/10, this dish was absolutely delicious and I will for sure come back again because of just how good this is. The server lady was so nice and kept checking if we needed anything. my husband ordered food to go and one of the entrees we ordered was cocido. however, we ordered extra meat and we ordered araround 745ish n i picked it up around 815pm. when i got to the restaurant, i was immediately confirmed extra meat on my cocido but when i arrived home i was susurprised to find out that there was no extra meat when we specified extra meat on our oorder and was confirmed when i arrived. i'm really disappointed bbecause u paid $30+ for food i didnt get. i would've paid extra i don't mind that but to pay $30 and not get what i ordered is poor food and service in general. if you couldn't give what was ordered let us know while the order is being made. so disappointed aadded review: the total of my bill was $35.135.11. i paid with a debit card and ththey have no sign regarding any debit card or credit card fees added if paid by dc or cc. i was charged $40. mind you i didnt leave any tip bc i picked my order. i called them twice n left messages and i got no response at all. i called again today and fifinally got a hold of someone but she was acting like its no big deal that i was charge an extra $5.98 or that i didnt get what i ordered for. their customer service is lacking etiquette and idk if its bc im not hispanic or spanish speaking but she was very dismissive. the charges were jot the 1st time either. the 1st time i came with my hushusband and are in the restaurant the total bill was only $77 but again i was charged $80 no tip on cc we left a cash tip on the table. this place is a rip off. go to other mexican restaurants. don't come here to eat if you are paying by cc or dc because you will get charge extra $$$ without your knowledge. read more

Food is good. Portions were TINY !! $15 for a small tostada with hardly any lettuce. Service HORRIBLE . I came in and sat with my family for 45 minutes till we got our food. However, man next to us and who seemed to know them, got served and left before us. Atmosphere was loud and crowded. Another delightful hole in the wall mexican place with great lunch specials! I love coming here with my coworkers! We enjoy the lunch specials and friendly service. For around 8 bucks I can get two enchiladas, rice, and beans!! The food always comes out super hot which I totally appreciate. The regular menu has a ton of options as well ranging from chili rellenos, tacos, sandwiches etc. The servers serve the big round crunchy tortillas instead of the usual chips. Also included besides the salsa is a spicy bean dip which I really enjoy. The setup of the restaurant is small and a little cluttered but I don't let it stop me from partaking in the good eats. Parking lot is also realllllly small. But hey for the value and food it's a win for me! read more

Passed by this place for so many times and finally I got to try it today! I came with a coworker today (Friday) for lunch and we were seated right away. Right after we were seated the lady asked us what to drink. Coworker ordered a horchata and I just asked for a water. When water came, OH MY GOD. They serve water in a big ass glass with sliced strawberry, lime, and basil (?) in it. I've never had such an exquisite looking glass of water. Wish I had taken a picture of it! Hahaha. It was delicious. Then they brought out some chips and salsa and OH MY GOD AGAIN the salsa was so good. I ordered a lunch special wet burrito with carne asada with no beans. The burrito was humongous covered with red sauce and cheese and guacamole placed on top. There was soooooooo much fillings in the burrito and it was one of the best burritos I've ever had in my life. And it was only $7.99 !!!! Needless to say we left with happy tummies. When we got back to work we had to fight our food coma. MUST NOT FALL ASLEEP. I would have been happy with just that. They have a pretty standard Mexican dine-in restaurant menu. He had the Chile Relleno & cheese Enchilada plate; I had the Chile Relleno & Hard Shelled taco plate. We both enjoyed it. I think he liked his plate more than I liked mine. The Hard Shell taco was very good. The beef was fresh, flavorful and abundant. I liked the salsa they served too. I wish they'd serve guac with it. The Chile Relleno was ok. Pretty standard, nothing special but fresh. The refried beans were very good. Service was attentive and friendly. I thought my plate was a bit overpriced for the quality and quantity, $13.95. There are dozens and dozens of Mexican places in the larger El Monte area. I doubt I'll return--though pics here of their Armando's Burrito were making my mouth water. This restaurant doesn't have set hours. Seems like They close whenever they want. Their Google says they close at 830pm and Yelp says they close at 9pm, we just walked in and they said they were closed because they close at 8pm.
