I kind of stumbled upon this place by accident (I wrote "stumbled" not "staggered" so don't make any assumptions!). I'm glad I did. After a quick Yelp review check, I decided on a cheeseburger. The bartender was excellent...friendly without being a pain in the ass, good recommendations on add-ons to the burger (he said I should try the "duck bacon" ... imagine that, "side meat" from a duck, but he said he wasn't kidding. Sadly, it ended up they were out of it). Good cold beer, excellent burger, nice atmosphere. The menu is very interesting...lots of variety for a bar. I will return. read more

"Armoury - I hope you'll never change" - said me every time that I've visited this place over the last year. Was sad (yes, sad!) to see their new stripped down menu. I realize it's a ridiculous sentiment for a restaurant, but I really really really loved the ambitious Hungarian gastro fare of this place and didn't want them to lose their chutzpah. Visited a few weeks ago when my sister was in town from NorCal, had been planning to take her here for months. But there it was, the new menu: devoid of all the items I knew and so loved. My guess is that the pressures of the neighborhood got to them - or at least didn't justify the food costs. It's what I feared would happen. Don't get me wrong - the rest of the food is very good; but it's really just standard pub fare with a sad few vestiges of Hungary remaining. Cocktails, of course, are out of this world. If the owner is remotely leaning towards bringing those items back, know that there's people out there like this girl that really loved what you were doing. read more

One of the best cocktail bars I've ever been too. If you are a whisky person, you MUST get the Bonnie & Clyde, which is their take on an old fashion. What make theirs special though is that they torch a block a cedar, turn your glass upside down over it to capture the smoke, and then they let it sit in the smoke for a few minutes while they make your drink so it gets that nice smokey taste to it. It is SO GOOD. Great beer selection as well. Every time I am out in Deep Ellum this place is a must stop. read more

I've been here twice now, and both times were excellent. Their cocktail list is creative and they have an excellent choice of wines, beers, and liquors. The food is also excellent. The Damn Burger is fabulous, as is the Paprika Chicken (that's not exactly the name). Ambience is chill and very rad. The smell of the wood in there is nice. Staff is knowledgeable and very friendly. This place is pretty cool. The location in Deep Ellum is great and the vibe is pretty unique. From the very beginning, our waiter was extremely friendly and helpful. I actually went to Armoury DE for the grilled octopus and I was impressed. The serving size was great and the charred/grilled flavor was wonderful. I only had one thing to mention and it was that the octopus was a little too mushy. It wasn't enough to deter me from going back, so I definitely recommend Armoury DE if you're in the Deep Ellum area. read more

I'm going to be brutally honest here... I don't usually 'Yelp Review' new places, or even check out new places, (I'm one of those 'East Dallas, stay close to home-base kinda girls') but now that one of my best friends works here... I had to check it out! It was hardly noticeable from the outside exterior but when you walk in, you immediately question yourself as to why you've never been before! Luckily my roommate knew exactly which door it was. I love watching Diana in 'her zone'. Anyone who knows Diana (which is half of the East Dallas/Deep Ellum music scene), knows her enigmatic aura that you can't quite put your finger on it but you just gotta be her friend, and it gave me the warm and fuzzies to see her interact with her guests. She literally was the only cocktail on shift and was working the room as if it was her one true passion in life. (anyone in the service industry knows that's a hard task to pull off, or fake for that matter). A table nearby (full of dudes mind you) got a cheese board, but not just any cheeseboard, literally every option on the menu. I was so jealous, drooling at the sight of it. If I hadn't only been stopping by to see my girl on the way to see a band play at Three Links, I would have eaten half the menu. But I will def. be back to eat all that cheese. Menu looks tasty! Excellent cocktails and great food! I stopped in on a recent Saturday night with two friends. We sat a the bar and enjoyed some really good cocktails. They had a really good, smokey Old Fashioned that I had try a few times. ; ) Not only were the drinks great but the food was excellent also. I tried the Chicken Paprikas which was delicious. The creamy sauce was slightly spicy and complimented the tender chicken perfectly. This was served on a bed of brown butter spaetzle. I would definitely order this again. Our first time here. Our waitress Kelley was AMAZING!! She knew the menu and gave great advice on food and drinks. She was friendly and gave us just the right amount of attention. She conferred with the chef on menu questions as my cousin is part Hungarian and was very interested in the menu items and preparation. The food was delicious and we will go again! My fist time eating octopus and it was seriously one of the best things I've eaten in my life. Came here again with some friends. We got the octopus again, fried dough thing, and the cheese spätzle. The octopus was amazing as expected, and the cheese spätzle was also really good (albeit too salty). Their mescal cocktail is superb, well balanced and refreshing with several flavors hitting you at once. The service was better this time around, but not great. Another one of my favorite places in town! Killer craft cocktails, knowledgeable bartendresses, a decent size smoking patio out back, and trendy interior make this a great lounging spot. I asked for a Hemmingway daquiri, as is my wont when faced with a new cocktail bar, and they did a fairly good job. Probably a top 15 pour in my experience - the balance could be a bit better, but it was quality and I think most people who aren't cocktail snobs would probably not notice the difference. The food menu looked super tasty - who knew it'd be Hungarian? - but we had already eaten and thus couldn't spare room in our alcohol-retention-systems for noms. I mean, stomachs. Yeah, that's it. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the crowd was chill and polite. We'll be back to eat there soon. read more

Every time I am in Dallas I make a stop here! Their drinks are very unique and well crafted. I tried the spicy mezcal margarita and it was amazing. Most importantly the Charred Pulpo is OUT OF THIS WORLD it's a huge portion so if you are an octopus lover it makes a hearty meal. They have an adventurous Hungarian menu and then another side for those looking for great classic bar food with a twist. If you are in the deep Ellis neighborhood this is a must. read more

I really wanted to love this place after I've heard "best burger I've had" and I just love me some grilled octopus. I had a bite of the burger, and it was extremely greasy - I understand using fattier meats like brisket and rib can add flavor, but there really wasn't a whole lot of wow factor in taste and it certainly wasn't enough to offset the grease. There probably is an optimal fat ratio (70-75%) - I'd guess this was in the 60's...when it's in the 70's-80's, I don't mind the grease but when it has this much, I think it benefits from losing some of the grease over a grill fire. The best comparable burger is still served at the Grape Monday's and Tuesdays. The octopus was tender but almost too much...slightly mushy in areas, and by the end, I was really tired of eating it....contrast this with the octopus at victor tangos, where I can't get enough. The smoked old fashion was fine if not overly sweet...prices are very fair for the food but I just won't be in a hurry to come back. Draft beer was also limited in selection. read more

This place is great. Stopped by for a bite and drinks a few weeks ago to try a new place out (I usually go to Hide, which I LOVE, but wanted a change of pace, and actually ended up coming back again a week or so later with friends after work. The first night, I had the charred pulpo (octopus) and the duck hearts minus the bread that comes with it. The octopus was perfectly cooked and super tender (aside from being a little too charred on the tips of the arms, and the drawn butter sauce and lines that come with it complement the spices they marinate it with so well. The duck hearts were tender and delicious, and not at all games. I had a Bonnie and Clyde smoked old fashioned and a Momma Kong- a banana infused spirit forward drink. Both were fantastic. The next time I again ordered the pulpo, and it was even better than the time prior, and had the Raging bulls balls, which were lightly breaded and soft and delicious. I highly recommend this place and will return soon for more great, late night grub. read more

Waitstaff is friendly and my dog seemed like she had a good time on the patio in the back - had to use the back entrance. would go there again.
