My friends and I shared the large la bomba pizza. This pizza was really delicious, and I loved the refreshing arugula topping. The texture of the crust and the various toppings, especially the ricotta paired well together. I also got the yogurt and honey gelato. It wasn't too sweet because of the yogurt, which I loved! The gelato was a good creamy and smooth texture. It's a small place with a couple of tables inside, but there's ample seating around Manoa Marketplace if the inside is full. We made it right before 4pm to get their lunch specials. You can get an appetizer or dessert plus a pasta for $23; or an appetizer or dessert plus a 13" pizza for $23. We both decided to get pastas with the tiramisu. I got the lasagna and the hubby got the linguine meatballs. The pasta portions were huge. I also got a slice of the daily special pizza $7. The pizza consisted of sausage, tomatoes, mushrooms, spinach and ricotta. It was so delicious. The piece was so huge that they cut it into two pieces. They also warmed in up for me. The pastas were good, but the pizzas are most definitely the star. I love their pizza. It's thin crust, crispy on the edges and a little chewy. I'm usually not crazy over pizza, but I couldn't stop eating it. The tiramisu was also spectacular. The espresso, mascarpone cheese, cocoa powder and liquor were nicely balanced. My friend was craving Italian so we picked this place to try. They had both a pasta and pizza lunch combo but the pasta options were more limited so we opted to do just the pizza lunch combo and ordered a dinner portion of the Gnocchi Gorgonzola and Pesto Mozzarella Garlic Bread as an appetizer. The restaurant wasn't very busy at the time we went so food came out promptly. All the food tasted but wished there were more options for the pasta lunch combo. The restaurant shares a parking lot with other shops so sometimes parking can be limited but there is street parking right outside. read more

Food was amazing, Service was quick and efficient. With one woman taking orders and serving everyone who came in, and the other was cooking. The lady in the front was very nice and attentive, provided complimentary water for me. We got the Linguini Pink Scampi, Caprese Piadina, and the Pesto Parmigiano Pizza. We probably could've gone without the Piadina, as it was a little soggy. But the Pizza and Scampi were delicious!! I will be returning to try as many pizzas as I can. They have a charming variety to appease many personalities. Not only do they offer the whole pie but slices as well for a great price ($5-$13) besides salads, pasta and sandwiches the choices here ranges on your cravings. I was quite impressed of how many do order here and with a few tables both inside and outside enjoy it at your leisure is also something that many seem to take advantage of as well. Really came in for just a slice and noticed this giant hunk of goodness on the top shelf which was Chicken and Pesto Focaccia along with the load of veggies that one was calling me and gosh what a yummy bite with not just chicken and pesto but veggies from onion, olives, mushrooms, tomatoes and more that I probably missed but the flavor was amazing. As the group of folks came and went I noticed how the display case emptied out in no time. This place got busy! They are tucked into the corner of Manoa marketplace and offer a wide variety of slices. It would be easy to get a quick bite here. I came here with family on a whim. This quaint little place has 5 tables with seating for 2 at each. We packed 4 of us onto 1 table barely. We ordered 2 large pizzas- the burratella with garlic, and the cannibale minus olives. We ended up devouring the burratella, it was delicious. The pesto combined with tomatos and everything was just lovely. The pizza toppings were on the heavier side and caused the pizza to flop a bit, but overall I would have it again. We managed to finish one pizza between all of us (my family is not big eaters). For lunch today i felt like eating italian food somewhere different so decided to travel farther to manoa side. I made a phone order for tiramisu and linguine with meatballs. Everything was just okay. i love the texture of the meatballs and while the linguine was excessive it was not too salty but still good. Located in Manoa Marketplace. I was meeting a colleague and wanted a quick snack as she had already had lunch. Got their Caprese flatbread sandwich. It was made to order and super hot so I let it cool for a bit before taking my first bite. I was blown away with the taste of my sandwich. It was a good size and I inhaled both sides very quickly. It is a little messy as the heat makes the tomato juices flow out of the sandwich. The food and ambiance was great but what set them apart from other restaurants was the service. The service was incredible. Having a toddler out to eat can be tough but they offered to bring magnet tiles and crayons to color to keep her occupied before the food came. The wait for the food was very short but they were constantly refilling our water glasses and checked on how we were doing. The service they provide is beyond anywhere we've eaten at in longgg time. Whenever we're craving for pasta, I order takeout and love the drive to pick it up below Diamond Head. How fun was it then to read that Aroma Italian took over the old pizza shop in Manoa Marketplace. Already having the ovens ready, it was just a matter of changing the decor to make it their own. Aroma Italia at Manoa doesn't have pasta - it's a pizzeria and has a few salads and side dishes. The quality of ingredients is up to their standards, with great flavor. Pies comes in medium and large sizes; you may want to order on the side of caution as it's a lot of food. The style is thin crust, made crispy and soft. Wait times were only about 20 minutes, during which we shopped elsewhere in the marketplace. We ordered two kinds on our first visit - pepperoni and primavera (with olives, artichokes, etc.). I always look forward to our Friday pizza nights and the drive to Manoa made it extra fun. Prices are reasonable for the sides. They also have a gelato counter, so if you're inclined it's a great place to grab it for dessert or a snack all on its own. We look forward to visiting again soon! read more

Italian cuisine in Manoa, Honolulu, Hawaii... A Social Media post announced that the first day of Soft Opening for Aroma Italia would be on 12-4-23, Monday. I marked my calendar and made my way over to Manoa Marketplace to be there by 11am. Parking was free and easy. I walked up to the counter since I was the first sit-down customer of the day. (There were 3 tables with six seats.) I ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza and a slice of Primavera pizza and took a seat in the cozy, clean shop. The female cashier was efficient and helpful. She explained that they don't have pasta at this location. They do have Salads, sandwiches, and Gelato from La Gelateria. I think it was the manager who brought my order to me. After a few minutes, he came to check on me. I should have asked for a napkin... LOL! I did tell him that I didn't need the chili pepper Flakes. He took them back so someone else may have them. The two slices could have tasted better if they were warmed up. I took some of the Primavera pizza home to heat up in the airfryer. It made the crust more crunchy. I do understand that this was the first day of operation and that the Grand Opening will be in January. I know that this is their second location and that the first location (on Monsarrat Avenue in the Diamond Head area of Honolulu) has high ratings. I'm sure that they will be up to speed in no time! Second time that I visited Aroma Italia on their soft opening week. They were in the old Ohana Hale Marketplace and now have a brick-n-mortar on Monsarrat Avenue. This store in the Manoa Marketplace is a pizzeria and gelateria...offering slices as well as whole pies. My initial visit, I ordered a slice of their Margherita. Classic pizza that any pizza eatery should do well. I like ( don't luv ) Neapolitan style pizza, but it was good...$4+ for a Margherita slice...not sure regarding the pricing for other slices. On my second time, I got a foccacia pie. Basically a single serving...or am I a pig?!? Fluffy and cheesy it was pretty good. I make the qualifier as it was likely made that morning and I was there after the lunch rush. La Bomba pizza = ONO Funghi pizza = ONO Cannibale pizza = ONO ----- My family lives right across the street from Manoa Marketplace, so we were very excited to here that Aroma Italia (AI) was coming to town. We had enjoyed the catering of the Monsarrat location a couple times and were looking forward to having a pizza joint nearby. I believe that last time Manoa had dedicated pizza restaurant was when Boston's Pizza was located at the now Serg's. Enough chit chat. Let's get to the review. We've ordered from AI three times now and have enjoyed every meal. Is this the best pizza in the world? Of course not. But it's solid. Our favorite pizzas are the La Bomba, the Funghi , and the Cannibale. We've also had the Pollo Pesto Caprese (decent - I'm just not a huge fan of pesto sauce on my pizza) and the Garlic Pink Scampi (very good flavor, but very little shrimp). We ordered the Caesar Salad, which was alright, but they provided the tiniest portion of dressing; it was not nearly enough to dress all the lettuce provided. Apparently they typically provide two dressing containers, so perhaps they just forgot one of ours. We probably won't order another salad. Hopefully in the future they expand their menu to include pastas. read more

Came back and this lady was waiting...the girl came in and apologized b/c she went on a bathroom break. Then washed hands (did she not in the bathroom?) and asked the lady if she was ready. Sounded like she wasn't, so the girl helped me. All I needed to do was grab my food since I already paid. The lady got upset and the worker gave her "if you're gonna be rude, I"m not going to help you...I don't need to take this"... having been in the industry and dealing with those type of customers blew me away seeing that type of reaction. Quickly reheated when ordered. More like a NYC slice than any from Italy. Thin but crisp. No blistering. Standard ingredients. Fold the slice NYC style. No complaints. Margherita and pepperoni sampled. - Gelato, yes gelato on a cold day, very good. Better than big box brands, not close to the true Italian counterpart. You can't taste the dairy flavor of the milk but the sweetness is very well controlled and flavors bold. Kona coffee, mac nut, and strawberry all flavorful. Mango has an artificial taste. The accompanying cookie, stale and soggy. Note: Even the fruit flavors are made as gelato and not sorbetto. Friendly counter service. Italian accents a nice touch. I was really excited to hear that Aroma Italia was coming to Manoa Marketplace. I have tried the one near Diamond Head via food delivery services, which was great! But sometimes food tastes better fresh from the oven. We were able to quickly order our food on a Friday at 1:30. We sat inside which holds three small tables of two seats. If looking to sit down outside there are a few tables and benches scattered around Manoa marketplace. We ordered two slices of cheese pizza for the kids and the Burratella pizza. The cheese slices came out quick which the kids loved. The Burratella took about 15min minutes and was nicely cooked. The burrata was a little difficult to cut through with the plastic knife but we had no trouble eating it with each slice. The burrata had little flecks of grey which we determined was little pieces of truffle. The pizza was coated in olive oil which was ok at the location but possibly not good if it was taken home. I wish it had a bit more balsamic to give a pop of tang to the mild cheese and spicy arugula. I hope they expand their menu but the amount of pizzas, salads, and sandwiches are a great selection to choose from. They also have gelato and coffee. I noticed multiple people come in and just order a coffee. We tried their spumoni, chocolate and strawberry gelato along with an affogato. The spumoni was quite airy and melted so quickly that I wish it was a bit more dense in ice cream. The spumoni also had those little fruit pieces you find in fruit cake. The chewy pieces and soft foam almost were a turn off for me. The chocolate was delicious and the strawberry sorbetto were both more dense and good. Now the affogato was pretty amazing because they put their vanilla gelato in their espresso which my husband said had 1.5 cups. Ooooo was it good! I am not a sweet coffee kind of gal but the combo was perfect. Service was as expected with a new establishment in its soft opening phase. The girl was pleasant but we weren't offered napkins with the pizza slices and the box pizza which we told them we were eating in, they didn't give us any plates, utensils (to cut the burrata), or napkins. I had to ask for those additional items twice. Hopefully they can work out any kinks over the next few weeks. We will definitely be back to try more items. read more

The first time I got it, I didn't realize it was toasted which made it soggy because the fresh mozzarella and tomato juices seeped all of their juices out. It was so messy I had to use a fork and knife to eat it. This most recent time, I asked them to just toast the flatbread and leave the arugula, tomato, and mozzarella cold.
