I would not recommend this company. They quoted me $900 for a "deep" air duct cleaning, but what I got was essentially a quick vacuum job that lasted less than an hour. After pushing back, I ended up paying less, but still way too much for the minimal work that was done. What was most concerning is that the technician didn't even know we already had an HVAC air filter in place. He tried to sell me on putting another filter in the upstairs intake -- which made it clear he didn't fully understand the system. Overall, the pricing felt misleading, the service rushed, and the expertise questionable. If you don't know better, you could easily end up overpaying hundreds of dollars for very little work. read more

I was a fool and did so with the understanding they would keep their word and show up (at agreed time) and follow through with quoted HVAC /dryer vent cleaning. Contacted tech after he failed to show up and said he'd arrive in an hour. Called again an hour later with his response via text stating it would be an additional hour...no thanks! Can't be trusted. I had the worst experience with this company. They sent a technician to our house for an estimate for air duct cleaning - the guy was extremely aggressive and pushy - moving my furniture without my consent to find the vents, forcing me to call my husband (who was at work) twice to sell his service. He unscrewed the metal grille on the ceiling and left it hanging while doing all these, and then, while he was measuring the size of the grille, still having it hanging up there, the grille fell on my cabinet top and caused a dent! Then, he was not apologetic by saying it was not his fault!! I dislike people who fail to take responsibility. I called the company complaining about this, and the company promised $50 for the damage repair. It was not enough, but I was fed up with it and agreed. We used them several times for hvac and plumbing. Prices are 1-2 stars (sky high); work on plumbing is 5 star. Work on hvac 3 stars. On hvac: they came in several times, misdiagnosed the issue; then finally called the manufacturer. They should have done that day 1. Worst of all, charged us for all the time they came out, mainly because of their incompetence. On drainage: all good work. On fixing a pipe: took them 6 (!) hrs to fix a fracture on the water main coming in the house. Main was made of pvc. And charged $145/hr for it. At $145/hr you fix a broken pipe muuuch faster. Maybe many plumbers are the same, but I cannot believe that every homeowner around the peninsula can fork out $1000 for a small pipe break! read more

This is a business owned by a friend of mine. The first call was a little unsatisfying because it was the temp guy who did the job. Of the three things I needed fixed, he was only able to do one and told me that I had to order parts for the other jobs. The first faucet was replaced and he did the job right. He even recommended me to keep some of the old parts because it's of a better quality which I appreciated his honesty. Well, it took time for me to figure out what parts and finally got it ordered and called them back for the other two and Tim responded quickly and agreed to come in today to finish the job. He said that the temp guy shouldn't have told me to order parts myself since that's their job to do (I agree) and he was very nice on the phone. He hasn't completed the job yet but I have every confidence that he will do the job right and will be a pleasant experience. More to come with follow up. read more

I wish I could give a positive review but the technician that called me was so rude. I originally was working with someone to setup an appointment and they were really friendly. I explained the situation that we had no heat the last couple days on the weekend and that since it was in the 30s in the mountains, it was about 50 degrees in the house. They mentioned the soonest they could get was in a few days and I told them I would try to get someone before if possible and they mentioned they understood and asked to let me know if I got it fixed. That being said, I'm on a business trip in another time zone and had called several other places where I had lost the number and tried to call the back after Saturn helped us at the last minute (they're amazing and honest!). In the middle of a deployment at work, a technician calls and I try to explain to them but they treated me like I was some sort of villain when this is a few hours before the appointment and just hung up on me talking in an amazingly rude tone. It was unbelievable. There wasn't any response like we're happy you have heat now or please in the future if you could give a sooner notice or we hope we have the opportunity to help you in the future or anything. I was treated so poorly that I will not give them a chance again after being hung up in the middle of the call while they scorned me on the other end. Very unprofessional. read more

ATC replaced a toilet even though there are issues with the flange and did a GREAT job. Plus, they left the bathroom clean too! The brand new toilet had a faulty part which gave up after 2 days but they came out to replace it bright and early the next day after I informed them. Are they pricey? Yes but honestly I experienced a major plumbing leak after calling another plumber on Yelp who did a faulty job so it's worth sticking with the pros who want to maintain a reputation. read more

He assessed the issue, climbed up on the roof and snaked it quickly. He was thorough, friendly, fast, and explained everything. Tim and his son spent a total of 3 hours or so on a leaking pipe under a bathroom sink and a leaking shower diverter. Neither was fixed. They didn't seem to have a good idea of how to fix those things. They kept trying different diverters and none worked. Also, Tim was very rude the minute he came to our place. I showed him where the leaking diverter is and while he was checking the diverter, I was standing 2~3 feet away from him. Then he threw a pipe wrench at a box next to me. The wrench plummeted onto the floor and almost hit my foot. Instead of saying sorry or anything a nice person would say, he yelled: "this is my work area, get out!" I cannot believe a plumber who is so rude and lacks the skills for his job is still in business. There are so many plumbers in the area who are much more friendly and provide much better service. Tim was the plumber who helped us with our plumbing issue. We are on the bottom apartment and we were experiencing back-up issues with our garbage disposal and our dishwasher. This was our second time experiencing the issue with the back-up and our landlords who live above us tried to put the blame on us. He confirmed that our pipes were also connected to the upstairs apartment and it wasn't necessarily our fault since the line was shared. Tim took the time to answer our questions about preventive measures so this doesn't happen again. He also spent time teaching us how pipes worked which was extremely helpful to understand why things were getting clogged. I can tell just by his explanation that he had a ton of experience and knew what he was doing. Our pipes will most likely get clogged again so I hope he's the worker we get every time. read more

Highly unethical business. They want to sell you their stuff which is marked up like 2x. If you bring your own and they say they're ok with this, they either won't install (make excuses) or overcharge to make up the difference. The first time we needed a shower faucet to be installed. The plumber kept saying the one we had didn't fit and kept bringing parts from his truck that just did not fit. He charged for an hour and left. Our friend installed the one we had brought!! The 2nd time we needed our toilet replaced. We got a top of the line brand toilet for 1/2 the price their plumber had quoted. When the plumber got here, he charged us 2x the installation fee quoted on the phone and charged for more time than he was here. He warned us to buy stuff straight from him next time and said he needed to make up the difference. We would have appreciated it if they were honest up front about the cost and then keep their word. read more

I've tried using ATC a couple times now. The first time was to try to find the source of a leak in my ceiling from the bathroom. They weren't able to find the leak, charged me for a whole hour and left a rebate form for toilet upgrades. I ended up finding the leak later and fixing it myself. The second time I tried using them was to install new toilets using the rebate program they told me about. They gave me a 2 hr window, but almost didn't make it. I had to call the office to confirm that someone was still coming, and that's when they sent three people to try to arrive within the last minutes of the window. Two of the three people arrived, and they discovered that I had chosen the wrong sized toilets. I was lucky that they caught it before they started the work, but they charged me two half hours for the plumbers to arrive and leave. They agreed to reschedule for the following week, which is when I promptly stopped hearing from them. After waiting at least one business day, I called them to confirm my rescheduled time. They were closed (so much for "Around The Clock Services") and asked me to call the next day. So the next day, I called, and they said yes it was in fact scheduled -- but no one had given me a window for when they would show up. Finally on the rescheduled day, a single plumber arrived. He arrived roughly on time, and finished the job in a little over an hour. He cleaned up, went outside for over half an hour and then charged me for two hours of work. Overall while they are knowledgeable, the quality of their work is average and their customer service is lousy. If you decide to use them, expect to pay for twice the time they provide; and be prepared to do most of the communication yourself for confirming apppintments, window times, and arrivals. read more

Nothing was draining (sink, tub, toilet) on a Saturday. I left messages for several businesses, finally talked with a human at one business who said they were "booked until Tuesday" and most businesses didn't even check their voicemail. Starting to panic... I finally called Around the Clock. TJ answered the phone, listened to my problem and did some diagnosis over the phone. When I asked about rate he told me upfront the hourly rate plus warned there would be a machine charge. He was able to come out within the hour (!!) and cleared out our problem. Excellent communication - told us what was going on as he went along. Very personable. read more

I've used A T C Plumbing a few times over the years. Again great job. Our garbage disposal died last week. TJ was on time, very efficient and competent. Replaced the disposal with a new one (they supplied) quickly and cleanly. Over 8 years ago they replaced the disposal. The cost comparison this time was: The exact same labor rate and just $20 more for the new disposal. Unbelievable. read more

Professional, courteous, honest, a bit on the expensive side. Had to do an emergency repair late at night on a furnace at the onset of Bay Area's recent cold weather. I called 10-15 repair companies, no one answered or their mail box was full. Around the Clock Services was the only one available. Joe picked up the phone and was very honest about the fees. He asked me if I was really sure I wanted him to take a look after 10pm that night, since they charge double for late hours. He advised that he probably couldn't get a replacement part until the next day anyways. I had Joe take a look that night despite the higher late-shift rate. He arrived on time and explained exactly what the problem was and that a part indeed needed to be ordered and replaced the next day, which he came back and did. Now the furnace is fixed and I'm happy for the time being. read more

Great service, even on the Labor Day Weekend! Perry came to our house in Sunnyvale within an hour of our call on 9-6-2015. He quickly drained the old, leaking water heater onto our thirsty grass then removed it; he then installed a new floor in our water-heater closet which is accessed by a door outside the house. Last, he installed a 40-gallon American Standard water heater that he brought with him. Great service, great attitude and from what we saw when we comparison shopped, a GREAT deal. read more

Our 40 plus year old wall heater failed to light. And. this happened just one day before a guest from New York was scheduled to arrive for Thanksgiving and use that room to sleep in! Dillan came out this AM and spent about an hour seeing if a relatively minor part replacement would solve the problem but, no luck. The old heater was shot. Dillan and Tim then replaced this with a new model, cleaned up all of the mess and did it all within about about 5 hours. I was delighted with their skill and and attention to detail. read more

A guy from ATC (Frank) installed a valve that blocks the water to my backyard irrigation, but did not reconnect the pipe on one end. "My drawer with the couplings I need is stuck," he said. Charged for a full valve installation, said he'd come back to finish, and never did. I finished the job myself and realized why he bailed out: the original piping is poorly planned and makes maintenance very hard. I would have preferred a straight "We need to redo this part of the piping, and it'll cost this much..." to the behavior of a crook. read more

Last week our water heater stopped working. We followed our landlord's advice and called Around the Clock. They scheduled a 9AM appointment, then called and said it would be between ten AM and noon. A young man finally arrived about 1 PM. He took a look and estimated that the air intake was clogged with dust. He vacuumed the heater closet and relit the pilot, and everything appeared to be working fine. He was cleaning up when his office called to check in with him and he went outdoors to take the call. When he returned, he called the landlord and informed her she would need to buy a new water heater and pay them to replace it. When she questioned the need, he tried to persuade her on the basis that the heater was getting old. First, it's not that old; second, that has nothing to do with the problem. When your car runs out of gas, do you buy a new one? read more
