Wednesday 10/30, I called them because my water heater was leaking which they installed back in March. To make a long story short the very late technician didn't find any leak in their installation & told me it may be the tank.. he wanted to uninstall it and reinstall it to find the leak for $1570- but he'd do it for a flat $1000. I declined opting to call Rheem instead...but later that night I heard dripping & noticed the ceiling was damp above the water heater & the vent connected to the water heater was leaking.. I called them back- 24/7 ?? Not for a technician! They sent a guy today.. he told me it was likely a pipe, couldn't quote me on how much it would cost but did tell me to cut he had to the sheetrock & it would be $89...and suggested I call my home warranty. I decided I'd call them. However, I changed my mind after speaking with them as they started in on cutting and removing thing that were not covered to gain access. Anyways, I call ARS back to go ahead & fix the issues. I spoke to Larry at the North branch, at 3:47 PM for someone to arrive by 6PM TODAY. Cool, I called into work today to get this mess done. I had to call back several times because closer it got I didn't receive a call. Finally I was transferred to dispatch & able to speak to them myself & found out all the times I called they told me they would check with dispatch they lied to me! Dispatch told me the appointment was scheduled but NO ONE was EVER assigned & all the technicians were gone for the day!!! WTF!! I was even told before speaking to him at 6:15 PM that the technician was running behind on a project & he has until 10 PM! AFTER speaking to dispatch I called trying to speak to Larry as he told me if I ran into problems to ask for him just to be told he was not available... 3 times when I called the person NEVER said a word to me but had the tv on real loud & was cussing & arguing with her boyfriend! I recorded it too . I feel like they treated me like this because they were getting pissed at my constant calls & having to send someone out again x3. I wasn't trying to be difficult, however, in just 6 months I've spent over $20,000 of my own money on repairs that had a "limited warranty" or something else needed to be as it was not "up to code" or " not covered" bill.. I'm tired & frustrated. even though The dispatch guy rescheduled me himself for this Saturday.. hmph! let's see!!! I called a different out of state number they have see if they would transfer me to Larry as I had 'questions ' for him, but even at this number I was sent back to the person arguing with her boyfriend! Finally when I someone answered me & a voiced my concern she said, " It must be a work from home person you were transferred to!" Oddly enough I didn't give her or the last person my name but they called me by it. So they have ID! Were they just antagonizing me the many other times I called knowing full well it was me! I called this company to clear a clog in a toilet. They made an appointment & they arrived on time. The technician came in and ran a line down into the drain and said his supervisor ( Salesman ) would be there soon. He arrived and shoved a camera down the hole & said that I needed extensive repair. Just to clear the sewer line would be $9K, but to do the correct job would be $16K. He was high pressure to get me to approve the work. I did not approve the work and called a different plumber that came out the next day and did the complete job for $4K. I had a water heater installed by these individual as a contractor to Lowes, the installation was done very well and in a timely manner. What has me writing a review with a low rating is the badging phones calls that ensued afterwards. They started calling me 2-3 a week from 8am up to 5pm asking about a turn up for my a/c or flushing of the water heater (they installed and is less than a year old). Numerous times I asked them respectfully to note on this account that I had a contract for quarterly inspection of my A/C system by the installer and that I would call them for the water heater flush when ready. They never noted this information or cared to read the file of their customers before calling. I was looking forward to using this group when it was time for water heater maintenance however, I seriously doubt I will now. read more

LaTonia Denice. I had them to come out in 2021 to install my out side unit, then again in 2023 to do my HVAC system. I've called them several time to come out because the outside unit was making a noise. Sunday 4/20 a Tech came out said I needed a new coil. Monday 04/21 another tech was dispatched out side the HVAC system had a leak. A Supervisor was supposed to come out on Tuesday no show no call. Spoke to the manager Rodney on 4/23 he said after review of the reports from Both the techs that came out my repair bill would be $1,800.00 I got a second opinion and what ARS said was wrong was not the issue, something was clogged to repair that issue cost me less then $400.00. If only they would get the recognition they deserved especially for the value of work they put in with the sweat from their hard work! We had a water leak in our middle bathroom shower faucet, so we called out ARS, and another independent handy man we've been using for years. ARS was the first to come out and let us know we also had a toilet leak ( which I had no idea about) so he gave us a quote of 575$ ( including 100$ off discount) to fix the shower leak and an additional 300$ to fix the toilet leak. We'll as he went out to his truck to get tools, our hand man called saying he's on his way as he just finished his first job, so we let the ARS guy know thank you for coming out- and we'll pay you for your time. ARS installed my unit in 2021 and I've had nothing but problems with this unit. Multiple visits per year and after this, i will be replacing this unit with a different company. My AC went out 7/24 due to a power surge from the thunderstorm in houston that night. ARS came out Saturday and said that mother boards were out d/t the power surge. Was told it would take 7 days to get the parts shipped. Living in Houston and having pets, I had to move into a hotel because it is 90+ inside my townhome. I was told on Wednesday (7/30) that the parts were in and they would be there on Friday to install. Sat at my house for two hours in 90+ temp before receiving a text stating my appointment has been changed to Mon, Aug. 4- no phone call to let me know. I called dispatch and after 2 different people, no one could figure out what was happening. Finally got a supervisor on the phone and stated the part would be in over the weekend and they would come on Mon. Aug.4, between 8-12. Get a text that the technician was on the way and then nothing for another hour. Finally get a call after waiting 2+ hours stating the parts were not in. So, I called the supervisor and was told they would call me back about where the part is- at this point I am extremely unhappy. Then I was sent a email with a THIRD reschedule date for Thurs, Aug. 7. How many reschedule dates until this turns into legal action is now where im at. I am currently paying $100/day to stay in a hotel for 10+ days. ALSO, I already paid $1600 for this upfront, so really what this is now is total fraud. If this was coming from China, it would have already been here, absolute insanity. They took my money and haven't provided a service and absolutely no one cares at this company. For a company this big, this is an absolute huge failure in customer service, communication and accountability. I will let everyone I know not to use them going forward. read more

ARS-Houston was called 4/10 after a storm regarding our A/C unit (they had been out in the past, that is the only reason they were called out again) on 4/11 Service Tech said unit was fried and needed to be replaced. Service order to install new unit on 4/13, $13,800.00 later, I have been trying to get information regarding the old unit (I had ARS take old unit due to my trash service would not haul away) my Homeowners insurance covers the unit, with a deductible, however, I can not get the diagnostics report or assessment that unit was fried for the insurance claim to be processed. This started 4/10 and as of today, 5/8, ARS has not sent requested information after numerous calls, voice mails, emails, etc., etc. read more

After waiting all afternoon we received a call stating that the appointment would need to be rescheduled for the following week. The appointment was scheduled for today between the hours of 08:00 and noon. We got a call stating that the tech was running late but would be here about 2 pm. Where do I start? Our a/c went out Thursday afternoon. I called ARS that afternoon, and they sent a tech out to diagnose the issue. Friday comes, i receive an email stating I have an appointment confirmed for Monday July 28, between 8 and noon. At 937 am that same morning, i get a text from the tech I'd seen the night before telling me they located a condenser and to call him (the tech) and they'll get it taken care of. I called to let them know I would really like to have it taken care of earlier than Monday, and I also stated that I have a special needs daughter, heat intolerant on O2 24/7. I get another email about an hour later saying someone would be here Saturday between 8 and noon. Understand I've been on the phone with them a lot, and they have extensive records of my calls. No tech in the time frame, I called and was assured a tech would be here soon. When the tech arrives, and we've been through all the paperwork, he calls customer care, i assume to get a good review. When she reiterates to service, she mentions the work would be done on Monday between 8 and noon. Not once in any of the conversations, emails or texts prior was it said the work would not be done until Monday. I assumed, probably foolishly, that given the circumstances that when the appointment was reset for Saturday, that the work was to be done then. In summation, I'd watch myself when dealing with them. Mind you, we've worked with them many times, and they have always been prompt, explained the issue and what the repairs would be and cost, and the work was at least begun THAT DAY ( the hvac system took two days to complete with the inspection). Called for diagnostic on A/C condenser, tech came out for $100 and I asked if it was a bad capacitor. Tech said no it was a bad compressor and it would cost $16000 to repair. Called another tech who came out and found the capacitor was bad and fixed me up for a reasonable amount. read more

Well, I used ARS many times over the last several years, but I will not going forward. They created a leak in my attic that soaked the insulation and the ceiling in my family room. Many, many calls and seven weeks later, it was finally repaired. However, I left messages for service manager, Brian Jenkins, and never received a call back. A technician who helped us told me that he also told Brian and another service manager, William Eichenberg, that I wanted to speak with a manager. No one called me. All this tells me is that my business is not important enough to ARS. I would recommend taking your A/C business elsewhere. read more

Never use these people for anything. Hired to install a Rinnai tankless water heater purchased from Home Depot. 20 days later install is incomplete. Installers have no knowledge of Rinnai water heater. Installed improper vent through roof. Water leaking thru the improper roof vent into the water heater firebox in the attic. Condensate drain not installed. At least a dozen phone calls all ended with we will call right back. Never call back. Show up 3 days later with wrong parts/ half of the parts. I hate to echo the many recent negative reviews, but we've been an ARS customer for several years. Most recently, we had a 5-figure repair of our kitchen drain line. The WORST experience ever, from the time the communication broke down between the field crew and their job system.....to the job taking 4 days longer than we were quoted. I've requested copies of 2 itemized invoices (5th request as of today....first one was 3 weeks ago). After repeatedly asking to speak with a manager, I'm now told that ARS doesn't provide itemized invoices.....we will never do business with this company again. read more

Price $3000.00, when I didn"t go for it he said $2300.00. A uv light is $100 to 500 for an expensive one. These people will try and steal from you one way or another. I called 4 companies, and received many different quotes. ( The sales rep will give you an idea how their company works by how they talk to customers). We have had the absolute worst experience with ARS, I have been waiting for almost 24 hours for a supervisor or service person to call me to fix our AC, I have never spoken with the same person on the phone, always someone new who is going to "escalate my urgent need" and I have yet to have someone reach out who can actually help. We are sitting in a 100 degree house with a 6 month old baby and this is absolutely ridiculous. My service window was 10am-2pm YESTERDAY and we have yet to have a technician come to our house, we have yet to receive any real information or an ETA of arrival 24 hours later after my first service request. Terrible customer service, I don't need to speak to a call center, I need to speak to someone that can actually service our UNDER WARRANTY air conditioning in this heat wave with a baby who needs to cool down immediately. read more

So, I purchased a brand-new system from this company. Immediately after install, I started having problems with the unit. NO HEAT!!!!!! They are great at sending people out for repairs but had no luck fixing it. They would send technicians to my home twice a month to work on this brand-new unit. For two years of repeatedly sending technicians to my house, repair my heat and was not able to make me happy. I had no choice but to call another company this year. I could not deal with another year of high bills because I had to use my stove and heaters to heat my home. I called CASTEEL. Casteel was able to fix the issue in one night compared to two years. Way to go Casteel, and shame on you ARS. It is great to have heat after suffering for two years. You should give me back my money or at least a discount on the unit. read more

I have used ARS / Rescue Rooter a few times. It is so hit or miss. I have had people come through and "go through the motions" without really doing any work, and I have had some technicians come in and really fix issues in the house. I can't recommend them because they really should be better with the price you pay and the service you'd expect with a larger company. I have been a homeowner for about 5 years now. I think I am realizing if you want great work done, you are better off finding those smaller family run businesses. Sorry ARS, step up your game. read more
