We had a water leak in our middle bathroom shower faucet, so we called out ARS, and another independent handy man we've been using for years. ARS was the first to come out and let us know we also had a toilet leak ( which I had no idea about) so he gave us a quote of 575$ ( including 100$ off discount) to fix the shower leak and an additional 300$ to fix the toilet leak. We'll as he went out to his truck to get tools, our hand man called saying he's on his way as he just finished his first job, so we let the ARS guy know thank you for coming out- and we'll pay you for your time. The handy man quoted us 300$ total for the shower leak, checked our toilet, which he said there was no leak- did the work, and then left. Wow! read more

ARS installed my unit in 2021 and I've had nothing but problems with this unit. Multiple visits per year and after this, i will be replacing this unit with a different company. My AC went out 7/24 due to a power surge from the thunderstorm in houston that night. ARS came out Saturday and said that mother boards were out d/t the power surge. Was told it would take 7 days to get the parts shipped. Living in Houston and having pets, I had to move into a hotel because it is 90+ inside my townhome. I was told on Wednesday (7/30) that the parts were in and they would be there on Friday to install. Sat at my house for two hours in 90+ temp before receiving a text stating my appointment has been changed to Mon, Aug. 4- no phone call to let me know. I called dispatch and after 2 different people, no one could figure out what was happening. Finally got a supervisor on the phone and stated the part would be in over the weekend and they would come on Mon. Aug.4, between 8-12. Get a text that the technician was on the way and then nothing for another hour. Finally get a call after waiting 2+ hours stating the parts were not in. So, I called the supervisor and was told they would call me back about where the part is- at this point I am extremely unhappy. Then I was sent a email with a THIRD reschedule date for Thurs, Aug. 7. How many reschedule dates until this turns into legal action is now where im at. I am currently paying $100/day to stay in a hotel for 10+ days. ALSO, I already paid $1600 for this upfront, so really what this is now is total fraud. If this was coming from China, it would have already been here, absolute insanity. They took my money and haven't provided a service and absolutely no one cares at this company. For a company this big, this is an absolute huge failure in customer service, communication and accountability. I will let everyone I know not to use them going forward. read more

Where do I start? Our a/c went out Thursday afternoon. I called ARS that afternoon, and they sent a tech out to diagnose the issue. Friday comes, i receive an email stating I have an appointment confirmed for Monday July 28, between 8 and noon. At 937 am that same morning, i get a text from the tech I'd seen the night before telling me they located a condenser and to call him (the tech) and they'll get it taken care of. I called to let them know I would really like to have it taken care of earlier than Monday, and I also stated that I have a special needs daughter, heat intolerant on O2 24/7. I get another email about an hour later saying someone would be here Saturday between 8 and noon. Understand I've been on the phone with them a lot, and they have extensive records of my calls. No tech in the time frame, I called and was assured a tech would be here soon. When the tech arrives, and we've been through all the paperwork, he calls customer care, i assume to get a good review. When she reiterates to service, she mentions the work would be done on Monday between 8 and noon. Not once in any of the conversations, emails or texts prior was it said the work would not be done until Monday. I assumed, probably foolishly, that given the circumstances that when the appointment was reset for Saturday, that the work was to be done then. In summation, I'd watch myself when dealing with them. Mind you, we've worked with them many times, and they have always been prompt, explained the issue and what the repairs would be and cost, and the work was at least begun THAT DAY ( the hvac system took two days to complete with the inspection). Called for diagnostic on A/C condenser, tech came out for $100 and I asked if it was a bad capacitor. Tech said no it was a bad compressor and it would cost $16000 to repair. Called another tech who came out and found the capacitor was bad and fixed me up for a reasonable amount. read more

Well, I used ARS many times over the last several years, but I will not going forward. They created a leak in my attic that soaked the insulation and the ceiling in my family room. Many, many calls and seven weeks later, it was finally repaired. However, I left messages for service manager, Brian Jenkins, and never received a call back. A technician who helped us told me that he also told Brian and another service manager, William Eichenberg, that I wanted to speak with a manager. No one called me. All this tells me is that my business is not important enough to ARS. I would recommend taking your A/C business elsewhere. read more

We had seen a commercial for an A C. tuneup and made an appointment. We were offered a time frame and we agreed. After waiting all afternoon we received a call stating that the appointment would need to be rescheduled for the following week. The appointment was scheduled for today between the hours of 08:00 and noon. We got a call stating that the tech was running late but would be here about 2 pm. ARS-Houston was called 4/10 after a storm regarding our A/C unit (they had been out in the past, that is the only reason they were called out again) on 4/11 Service Tech said unit was fried and needed to be replaced. Service order to install new unit on 4/13, $13,800.00 later, I have been trying to get information regarding the old unit (I had ARS take old unit due to my trash service would not haul away) my Homeowners insurance covers the unit, with a deductible, however, I can not get the diagnostics report or assessment that unit was fried for the insurance claim to be processed. This started 4/10 and as of today, 5/8, ARS has not sent requested information after numerous calls, voice mails, emails, etc., etc. read more

Never use these people for anything. Hired to install a Rinnai tankless water heater purchased from Home Depot. 20 days later install is incomplete. Installers have no knowledge of Rinnai water heater. Installed improper vent through roof. Water leaking thru the improper roof vent into the water heater firebox in the attic. Condensate drain not installed. At least a dozen phone calls all ended with we will call right back. Never call back. Show up 3 days later with wrong parts/ half of the parts. Order more parts, again. FED UP! Hired another company to complete the install. read more

I hate to echo the many recent negative reviews, but we've been an ARS customer for several years. Most recently, we had a 5-figure repair of our kitchen drain line. The WORST experience ever, from the time the communication broke down between the field crew and their job system.....to the job taking 4 days longer than we were quoted. I've requested copies of 2 itemized invoices (5th request as of today....first one was 3 weeks ago). After repeatedly asking to speak with a manager, I'm now told that ARS doesn't provide itemized invoices.....we will never do business with this company again. read more

Price $3000.00, when I didn"t go for it he said $2300.00. A uv light is $100 to 500 for an expensive one. These people will try and steal from you one way or another. I called 4 companies, and received many different quotes. ( The sales rep will give you an idea how their company works by how they talk to customers). So, I purchased a brand-new system from this company. Immediately after install, I started having problems with the unit. NO HEAT!!!!!! They are great at sending people out for repairs but had no luck fixing it. They would send technicians to my home twice a month to work on this brand-new unit. For two years of repeatedly sending technicians to my house, repair my heat and was not able to make me happy. I had no choice but to call another company this year. I could not deal with another year of high bills because I had to use my stove and heaters to heat my home. I called CASTEEL. Casteel was able to fix the issue in one night compared to two years. Way to go Casteel, and shame on you ARS. It is great to have heat after suffering for two years. You should give me back my money or at least a discount on the unit. read more

It has been three years as of two months ago that we received our brand new unit from ARS.. we have done all the checks and balances every 6 months.We had a checkup done as of six months ago we had to replace our compressor, which made absolutely no sense cost $400 today I this hot Texas weather the AC unit stopped working. We had someone come out. He says the water pump has went out on the system, which will cost us $1000 even with it being under warranty!! MAKE IT MAKE SENSE! How could this happens with a brand new unit then he proceeds to tell me this is something normal and typical that happens with all their units and I was like if y'all know this happens with all your units shouldn't y'all be taking care of this issue so we don't have to pay this on the back end he did not have an answer .. I asked him about the person person that comes out twice a year. They didn't see the issue going on with the water pump. he says that he cannot say what previous technicians have done but as of right now it has gone out and we have to get it replaced. We are floored. We haven't even finished paying off the unit and now we have to spend another thousand dollars!! he says typically is $4000 but he can get it under $1000 for us. We have had the absolute worst experience with ARS, I have been waiting for almost 24 hours for a supervisor or service person to call me to fix our AC, I have never spoken with the same person on the phone, always someone new who is going to "escalate my urgent need" and I have yet to have someone reach out who can actually help. We are sitting in a 100 degree house with a 6 month old baby and this is absolutely ridiculous. My service window was 10am-2pm YESTERDAY and we have yet to have a technician come to our house, we have yet to receive any real information or an ETA of arrival 24 hours later after my first service request. Terrible customer service, I don't need to speak to a call center, I need to speak to someone that can actually service our UNDER WARRANTY air conditioning in this heat wave with a baby who needs to cool down immediately. read more

The installers damaged and marked walls in the surrounding areas. Customer service could not find any supervisors or managers available to address the issues. Finally spoke to an HVAC Mgr and a supervisor was dispatched to assess while I wasn't at home. No one called me back to give me an update or status. I have used ARS / Rescue Rooter a few times. It is so hit or miss. I have had people come through and "go through the motions" without really doing any work, and I have had some technicians come in and really fix issues in the house. I can't recommend them because they really should be better with the price you pay and the service you'd expect with a larger company. I have been a homeowner for about 5 years now. I think I am realizing if you want great work done, you are better off finding those smaller family run businesses. Sorry ARS, step up your game. read more

Sewer line replacement went well except the plumber left me with a crew speaking only spanish. My spanish isn't good enough to communicate with them. Had to ask the plumber to come back to get my question answered. They have a bank that will finance expensive jobs. Don't use them. EnerBank was bought by Regions. When I scheduled the appointment last week with ARS, I was told by customer service that the installation service for garbage disposal would be $280, and the $50 Home Depot coupon could be used--a total of $230. I called August 9 to make the appointment for 8/10/24 6-9 pm. The plumber, never showed up. I spoke with ARS customer service several times on Sunday, August 11th, and was told again that the service would get to my house on August 11 between 6-9 pm. Before installing the garbage disposal, the plumber stated that the price would be $532.40. I declined due I was told by ARS it would be $280 minus the $50 coupon. This guy was pushing, saying I would have to pay him to come to my house....... This plumber, Kyle, grabbed my old garbage disposal without my permission putting it into the box where I had the new one, and took it outside to his truck, which made it seem like he was trying to steal it from me. Overall, the plumber performed a poor-quality job. My sink still overflows with water, as it did before with the oldest garbage disposal. The same issues remain, and he did not fix anything. I have never experienced such lousy service before. I have spoke with the ARS account department, Mr. Richard to requested a refund. I will not call the Home Depot ARS services ever again. read more

BEWARE!!! My business had a gas leak, we Googled a few companies and "Gas Line Plumbers" was at the top of the search, appearing to be a plumber referral based company. We were none-the-wiser that it was ARS until we received confirmation of a plumber coming out between 12-4. No one ever showed up. We called 3 times and each time we were told they were coming and were on the way. The staff leaves at 5:30 and by this time still no one showed up. I called the number on the confirmation to ARS and was told they were still trying to get someone out to us. Then after much complaining and gripping, I was transferred to dispatch. After 15 minutes on hold I was told the appointment was rescheduled for 10-2 the next day because there was nothing they could do to get someone out. This was a gas leak! We would have called another company but kept being assured they were on their way. I then called back to the original number and asked if this was ARS or a plumber referral source. I was told it was ARS, which is very deceptive. I asked to speak with a supervisor (John ID #071839), he told me he escalated the call to the highest level of priority and someone would be there that night between 6-9. No one showed up. No one even called. As of 6am the next day, I got another plumber out who has already located and repaired the gas leak, and I still have not heard from ARS! This scenario explains their review ratings. This is beyond poor service. It's dangerous! We waited all day and night for them to come check on a GAS LEAK! They deserve negative stars! read more
