I have called ARS Rescue Rooter San Diego three times now (one of which was an emergency). One of the non-emergency situations I wanted to have our shower fixtures replaced (which I purchased from The Home Depot). We had Ed come out in the past, and he did an OUTSTANDING job; so I requested him again. As expected, he did another OUTSTANDING job! He is professional, knowledgeable, friendly and timely! DO NOT USE this company. What scammers!! I checked out their Google review, but forgot to check Yelp! Called to have my slow draining kitchen sink fixed. The estimate went from $69.00 to $17,465.00. First plumber said that his snake poked through something and he couldn't get it out and he telephoned for a supervisor. Told me that I needed a liner in the pipe and that it would take four days, including drilling through the slab. And gee, they would finance it for one year no interest. Tried to hire this company to come out and look at my plumbing. I was told someone would be here between 9am-11am. Waited until 11:30 called to get an ETA. The person that answer the phone didn't have an answer so she went and got someone to "help"This guy was Rude, condescending and obnoxious. He told me that my window for service was between 10 and 12 and then now it was going to be between two and three because they were busy. So I canceled service within two hours. Someone called me to ask if I would like to reschedule! Not bloody likely. Charged $500 for a sump pump inspection. My manager called Ars and they concluded I needed a offset pipe for the sump pump and replace the pump for around $10,000 lol Had Touchdown plumbing come out and identify the pinched float, they fixed it in under 2 hours. cost came in at $600. Based on previous reviews, they love adding in unnecessary work and billing for it. There are more ethical plumbers out there. read more

SCAM!!!!!!!! BAIT & SWITCH PRICING........On their Advertisement website it said $69 for drain clearing. I received a call to schedule an appointment. I confirmed the cost would be $69 to clear the vanity sink drain line. I explained the situation. They missed the appointment and called 30 minutes later stating they needed to reschedule to the following day at the same time. The following day they missed the appointment again and advised they would be there in 45 minutes / 2 hours later they arrived. The plumber said it would be $399 to snake the sink drain line. I reminded him of the $69 and he said that's if there is a clean out. This was a simple 15 minute job. I explained I informed the schedule of the complete situation and they stated it would only be $69 to snake the line. He called his office and they changed it to $199. He arrived and after 2 minutes, said I cannot fix this water heater without trying anything. He gave me the option of installing a new one for $3900, or pay $100 service visit. I was under pressure by my tenants to complete the job, so I accepted knowing that I am getting robbed. I wish I had not called this company. When I checked the next day, trying to find out how much others charge, I recived quotes of between $1800 to $2200 for exact same unit and exact same job. No doubt, the agent of this company will reply that they know they are not the cheapest, but charging $3900 for what may others charge $2000 is highly unethical to me. They now charge 99.00 for a service call to even bid a job and wont even discuss anything without you signing paperwork for that fee, including a mechanics lein form befor they will even speak with you. I called for a simple water heater controller matter, Then they immediately pushed me to replace everything and buy a new water heater so they can charge for code upgrades and new equipment for a simple repair issue. I needed the simplest of repairs done, so I called ARS Rescue Rooter San Diego (my first mistake). Their appointment scheduler booked me for the next day. Next day comes and they call to cancel. "Overbooked with emergencies, sorry we can't make it". Grrr... I accepted their apology and their offer of an appointment for the next day, with their absolute assurance that they would make the appointment (my second mistake). Lo and behold, they stiffed me again. More of the "Sorry, we're overbooked again" nonsense. Waste of time (twice) and lousy experience with a third-rate company that doesn't honor its promises. Price gouging. I needed a toilet mechanism replaced. The plumber took roughly 1.5 hours to put in a new mechanism. $600. On top of that, it's not a simple push on the handle to flush. I have to push and hold the handle down. I called and complained. A technician came and looked at it; he said it's fine. Our toilet had a clog so I checked with friends; decided on ARS because a neighbor used them at least twice, used a $83 Coupon and never paid more than $100. Great, I thought. A nice employee took my order, verified the $83 coupon would work. They rescheduled me for 2 days later and verified the coupon would be on my order. That employee never explained that the coupon had restrictions.r. Nice employee came today, said my condo did not have a 'proper clean access' which is stated on the coupon, but neither of the first 2 people I spoke with told me or explained that to me. So for a 5 minute job to clear the plug which evidently was in the toilet itself( but over 40 minutes to do paperwork!) I paid $299! Not exactly fraud but VERY SNEAKY! I see that ARS responded and wanted me to call a Freddiann. She gave me the corporate blah blah and offered me a $50 coupon on their next visit. We had a back up issue in the master bath on 2/14/20 and called ARS and they sent out Bill and Scott. They seemed knowledgeable and were quick to fix the issue. They went under the house and said there was no leaking. Fast forward to 2/17/20 and the issue happened again. Bill and Scott came back and removed the master toilet again and removed the clog and said it would be better. A couple hours later when the toilet was used (nothing but liquid flushed in it), the toilet backed up again this time causing dirty water to back up in the shower. THEN the same thing happened in our guest bathroom, which was previously not an issue. I had to call their after hours line and they sent Diego and Frank to check it out and they said there was too much back up that if they pulled the toilet it would flood the house. They also went into the crawl space and said there was a leak under the house now. They said someone would come between 8-10am the next day, 2/18/20, and I have called multiple times and at 1:45pm they have still not come and don't seem confident they will. I have a 1 month old newborn and a wife at home where we have no useable bathrooms and can't run the water, and the plumbing issue got worse after ARS came to the house and they are not prioritizing coming back to fix it. This is also after all my newborn's bathing items were ruined with the backup in the guest bath (which wasn't an issue before ARS came). I am now left with having to call a different plumbing company to come out and try and fix the root issue and now the additional issue that appeared after ARS came. This 1 star rating is purely because of the lack of ownership, empathy, and prioritization of ARS to make right and stay true to their word. While Bill, Scott, Diego, and Frank were nice guys and customer friendly and were just doing their jobs, this is a review of the company as a whole. My renter had a plumbing problem, they called ARS. Lendale was the guy who arrived, and I had the renter put him on the phone. He sounded angry that I couldn't get his name right even though his speech was slurred. He told me he needed to pull up the toilet, clear the clog, and gave a reason why he wouldn't warranty the work, the whole time talking down to me with an angry tone. After his proposal, I asked "if you got on the roof and ran a snake down the vent, wouldn't that clear the drain?" He said "probably, but I'm not going to get up on the roof". Then he said "LISTEN, blah blah" and I stopped him, and told him to stop the condescending tone. He said "I think I'll be going" which I agreed was a good idea. Later, their office called me and some woman with a bank-teller's voice, a voice of authority that makes you feel guilty, told me calmly but sternly "we will not allow customers to DICTATE instructions to our workers". When she was done I calmly told her what actually happened, that Len-DALE was rather rude, proposed unnecessary work, and that I ASKED him if working from the roof would work. She was like "oh, uh, oh..." and I pointed out that Len-DALE might have told her something that wasn't true. Of course I called another outfit, Blue Planet, who arrived within 30 minutes, climbed on the roof in the rain, and cleared the clog. LOL: "we won't have customers DICTATE to our workers"... maybe try having your workers not be rude to your customers... just an idea. read more

ARS (Rescue Rooter) used to be a family owned, local plumbing coming with great customer service. Now it's just another corporate run company with horrible service that would rather price gouge customers, rather than being a go to company for plumbing needs. I was charged 80% more for a simple main drawing cleaning that took the plumber 20 min to do. I was charged $413 when their own website clearly says, $89. I was also told that if I refused service that day, there would be a $99 trip charge for just coming to my house. This is not the way to do business. I would encourage anyone looking for plumbing service to look elsewhere. read more

My ARS saga...found them on the web, tried to set up an appointment, that feature crashed. Their chat is a bot that only understands a limited set of choices, I called and left a message, they never called back, I called again and scheduled an appointment, which they called to reschedule hours before they were due, then they called to reschedule THAT, to which I said nevermind. Have them literally every possible chance and dropped it each and every time. Worst service experience I've ever had. 12/6/19 UPDATE: I recieved a reply from "The owner" of ARS on another review site, his reply seemed to be stating they wanted to make things right. I send an email to the person he suggested, that Monday before lunch. I called to follow up Wednesday morning and was told that the person is on leave indefinitely. They took my info and told me I would hear from someone in 48 hours - which seems pretty ridiculous. the industry standard is 24 - It's been 48 hours and I've not been contacted. So, I've wasted 2 weeks of time, and gone without a guest bathroom through the holidays. The "the owner": either you have no idea how inept your back office is, or you were doing damage control by seeming like ARS cares. Clearly, they don't. read more

Worst experience ever. Set up an appointment to get a bid. They said they'd be here between 10 and 12. At 12:45 I got a call from ARS stating it would be another 1 to 2 hours. No problem. I was home anyway. At 3:45, still no technician and no call. So, I called them. She said she wasn't sure when she would get somebody out here but was hopeful she could in the next 1 to 2 hours. It's now 7:30 PM I have not received a call and nobody has shown up. How do they expect to tp do buswith me if they don't even show up all day long to give me a bid. Got a call back the next day. The caller didn't bother to say she was sorry or offer any explanation as to why they stood me up all day long the day before. She just said my advisor was on his way out. Great Drain Service! After leaving 6 messages and getting only a few call backs, I called ARS. I googled '$69 drain cleaning near me' I knew I could get the bathroom sink done for $69 and didn't want to pay $88 or $99 as I was quoted by others. They had same day availability and I had my choice of 2 hour time slots the following day. I received a call 2.5 hours prior to my scheduled 12-2 slot asking if someone could come earlier at 11 which was fine by me. The two call center reps I spoke with were both pleasant and professional. Gabriel showed up on time in mask and gloves and shoe covers. He looked at my kitchen sink and said since it wasn't currently backing up he would recommend a hydro-jet service ($649) to clear the line from build up that was likely causing an occasional odor. I declined that since it costs much more than a drain cleaning and will budget, SHOP AROUND and schedule another time and keep using my Plink deodorizes for now. Set up a pad in the bathroom and was done in 20 minutes. It literally took him longer to do the paperwork in the truck than the service itself. Drains well now and I'm very happy with their COVID compliance with the exception of having to touch the tablet to sign my name. I had planned to pay by check and reconsidered in case I have an issue down the road. The bad reviews almost scared me off. Yet, I knew what the issue was and figured I would have asked him to leave prior to the service starting if I wasn't comfortable. I am a real estate broker and have experience with home systems and continue to learn new things about home repairs. My two cents is any repair over a few hundred dollars deserve multiple estimates. Emergency situations are certainly handled differently. When it comes to maintenance, putting things off often leads to a more costly repairs when it is done especially with plumbing. Purchased new HVAC system from ARS/RT via Home Depot 11 months ago for ~13k. Furnace stopped working last night. Called for an appt that they scheduled for today from 8-11am. By 11am when noone showed up, I called and was told by a very rude dispatch person named "Jerri" that they don't have an HVAC person even working today!! We were freezing thinking it would only be one night. Get it together!!! This is NOT the service that the salesperson promised me last year!! UPDATE-- They redeemed themselves!! I called these people to fix my a/c and scheduled an appointment. The day before the appointment they called and rescheduled because their technician called in sick. Fair enough. When the technician arrived he didn't have a ladder tall enough to reach my roof (I informed them it was a 2 story condo and the unit was on the roof) had to reschedule... again. The day before the next scheduled appointment they called to reschedule because they only had one technician and evidently needed 2 because of the ladder situation (I guess) rescheduled yet again. There were two ways that the job could have gone, less expensive or more if he needed to weld the parts. He was able to fix it without welding. I texted back at 12:30 asking for an estimate of when they would be coming and got no reply. My husband later called and they said about an hour around 1:30. Then when my husband called a third time at 6:15pm they tried to schedule us for an appointment tomorrow after having waited all day for them to show. Save yourself the stress and use another plumber. They are dealing with severe staffing issues. It took four appointments to have somebody actually show up, and a fifth for them to be ready to do my services. I am not sure why they make appointments if they do not have plumbers to send out, but it is what it is. The plumber, Miguel, did a great job on the plumbing itself, but I was not granted all of the services originally promised. The person who did my quote (John, who also was a professional) apparently did not write down everything down that we talked about, which left me needing to still have work done after this whole ordeal. I had the quality assurance person that I talked to after Miguel finished the work promise that someone would contact me to get me a discount, but the office did not have any record of this, nor seem to be interested in helping me figure out who told me this, and the only thing that I was provided with after multiple phone calls with their management was a pair of $100 off coupons for a plumbing company that I don't have any intention of using again. Incompetent sewer clog repair - had to dig it up (and my patio) again due to another clog after they repaired it - only to find they had poked a hole in the pipe when they backfilled the hole. Obviously their fault and they would not compensate me for the full repair. P.S. note thier "customer R" comment appears to be an automated response as I called them, left a message, and they have not responded. (I had already had many conversations with them about this, so their automated response looks like more evidence of poor customer service and incompetence.) read more
