Absolute staple in Morris Plains. I have been coming here since I was a kid and has been only gotten better. The best Farmer's/ French Onion Soup around with soo much gooey cheese. Stopped in Friday night with some buddies for our annual boys night out dinner. Arthur's is a staple in NJ although its a shame they only have the 1 location left. Good prices for a fantastic meal that wont break the bank. Of course you start out with the pickles although never had a chance to snap a pic with the vultures I was dining with. After that you have to get their garlic breaks- not for those who don't like piping hot bread with yummy butter and cheese. We actually ended up ordering wings for the table and there wasn't a bone with any meat left on it. A majority of us went with the traditional Delmonico steak and potatoes. You may have to wait a bit when you coming In especially on weekends. They also only stay open till 9 these days. read more

Located right in Morris Plains nearby Carmel Haifa and an ice cream shop. Expect to see a long line on weekends as they don't take reservations. Seeing the constant long lines, and given that I had several recommendations from friends, I admittedly had high hopes for this place. Unfortunately, felt it was just ok at best. Despite coming in before 5pm, the place was extremely crowded. Started off with some drinks and appetizers which were done well. I had to get the garlic bread given how many other reviewers recommended it. It was quite good, although had a bit too much butter for my taste. It comes with a good chunk of garlic, although in my opinion you can always add more. Unfortunately that was where the positives end. Maybe we just got the wrong items after that, but both my wife and I were quite disappointed with the food quality especially given the price tags. Additionally service was not their strong point either, as our waitress essentially disappeared after placing the order and even getting refills took much longer than needed. I understand they were busy but I did expect more from this place. That being said if you come here, I'd just order what the other reviewers suggest, seems like I may have just had an off night experience. read more

Really pleasant environment and happy with our meals. We had a party of 5 with two children and were seated upstairs. Meals were delicious and served relatively quickly. Restaurant was less than half full on a Saturday evening which was nice. I would say the kids pizza wasn't exactly exciting and looked subpar but I didn't taste it. The steaks were great. read more

Been in this area for almost 60 years and I've never been here, so I decided to meet a friend and try it out. First off it's a very loud place without any sound absorbing materials in the bar itself. That's OK, but I just wanted to warn everybody that it is a very loud place The waitress was extremely nice and let us talk and reminisce about our friendship. She gave us time to order and was extremely helpful when we asked questions. We ended up staying for three hours talking the whole time and catching up. It was very nice of the waitress to let us do that. But it was on a Wednesday evening. We had the mozzarella bread for an appetizer, which was very good. The only problem is is all the cheese stuck to the tinfoil, and maybe it should be presented on wax paper or parchment paper, something other than tinfoil. I had the Smashburger, which was excellent, cooked the way I liked it and it also had sautéed onions which were delicious. I took part of the bun off because I just didn't want to eat that much bread, but it was really good without a top bun. My friend had the tuna And he loved it. It came with some very smooth and silky mashed potatoes and vegetables. He said the tuna was seared perfectly, and the soy ginger sauce was excellent. A legend in this part of Morris County and worth the detour off route 10, the short drive from Morristown, or the walk (literally) across the parking lot from the Morris Plains train station. The menu hasn't changed in forever, and the prices haven't budged all that much either. If you're in for lunch, go for a burger and a side of potatoes (no fries). The service is attentive, but you may need to ask for the bowl of pickles that used to be on the table before you sat down. Gone are the pickled tomatoes and cabbage, but that's just an observation and not a complaint. If you're there for a night out, the modestly priced and well cooked steaks are a good deal. You're not getting a Manhattan steakhouse steak, but you're not paying that price either. Get another half liter of beer or glass of house red and enjoy. This is a place for fun and food, not to impress a early date or business clients. Downstairs is classic with red checked table cloths and faux liquor bottle lamps. It's a fun spot. Upstairs is good provided the whole place is packed or else it's a bit forgotten. read more

First and foremost, we order drinks and waters. We get our drinks with no waters, fine no problem. Then we ordered the buffalo wings for an appetizer. They came in maybe 5 minutes, soggy and cold. We sent them back, and they were returned literally microwaved with the wing I already bit into still on the plate. I wouldn't be surprised if they reused the uneaten pickles in the table pickles they give you. Next, i ordered my steak medium well (judge me all you want) and it was red. Not the waitresses fault, but she was nowhere to be found for 20 minutes after we got our meal so I couldn't even ask for it to be cooked more. Mojito wasn't bad, beer was cold. Lastly, we sat outside and there's a speaker outside that goes off about every 2 minutes "TABLE ___ YOUR TABLE IS READY" blasting I could probably hear it at the train station. Place is beautiful. Feels like a place you would find in Cape May. As for the food. Steak was cooked perfect cheesy garlic bread and the salads were fantastic. Low rating due to the cheeseburger was not good at all. Although a very good price at under $10 it tasted oily and almost like they cooked it on the same grill as the scrod fish on menu. I will be back! I enjoyed going to a place with such rich history (opened in 1985 to be exact) and tasty cozy food. We arrived right before 7 and there was about a 15 min wait. The staff was very friendly, especially our waitress. She was so sweet and apologized a lot due to their computer system being down but she was not taking long between runs anyways. We started off with the Chili nacho grande and it was great but the star of the show was the steak! A 24 oz delmonico WITH potatoes for only 38?!?! sign me up every time. I'm not sure what type of grill they use but the char is only slightly bitter which is fine. Better than other places for sure. The steak knives weren't exactly robust and I was kind of worried about that but wow it just glided right through. We got a side of creamed spinach and it was great.. thicker than most and not soupy at all which I loved. Almost forgot to mention the pickles. Soo addicting I had to take a couple home. No dessert for us but I'll surly use that as an excuse to go back. read more

Writing a review update because I've visited Arthur's several times and it is always solid. The French onion soup might be the best I've ever tried. A crock is $8 and comes filled to the brim with cheesy melty goodness. I love sitting at the bar and pairing this with a pint of Guinness - it's just the perfect winter treat. I'm also a big fan of the chopped salad which comes with blue cheese, bacon and lots of fresh veggies. It's probably not the healthiest salad option, but it's a steakhouse so it is what it is. If you aren't feeling a hearty meaty meal then a soup and salad is a great option. The seafood platter is also fresh and delicious. Service is always friendly and it's just a cozy neighborhood spot. read more

Can never go wrong Arthurs. Came to this location as I didn't feel like circling for parking at the Hoboken location. Seated immediately at a table upstairs. Never had the Onion Soup in years past when I would come, but looking to be more adventurous. It was VERY good. 24oz steak is what I've always got, it's priced at about $38 and was able to split it with the wife and still be satisfied. Overall good experience. read more

Went here last second for a quick meal. I ordered the ribeye medium rare, and it was a bit undercooked. I thought it was a decent ribeye but a pricey especially considering the undercooked aspect. The mashed potatoes were nothing to write home about and I would recommend some salt for them. I ate here on a Friday night. The place was moderately busy. Ordered the 10oz filet, med rare with mashed potato and creamed spinach. Filet was probably 6oz. and cooked to med well. It was tasteless & tough. Mashed potatoes were obviously instant & flavorless. The creamed spinach had the consistency of spackle. The serving size of the pretzel was huge and we barely finished two in our party of 8, the pickles were huge, The French Onion Soup was AMAZING. The no-fries needed burger was a whopping 10oz and very filling. Cons: It could be that the burger came after the French onion soup, and it certainly was a delicious burger, but it was not AMAZING from a taste perspective. It definitely was big and filling, but maybe I was looking for a bit more extravagance to the taste, or possibly that I'm not an expert by any means and this is an amateur review. Their sangrias are sweet but seem to lack any real alcohol. It tasted more like a juice than anything. For dinner we opted for the seafood platter which was my favorite out of the two. My family came here for the first time since the late 80's (we recently moved back to the area) last night about an hour before closing. We were worried we wouldn't be able to get a table as it was Saturday night and very crowded. We were seated within 10 minutes. Our server was Keir and he was FABULOUS! He took our orders right away, explained the different steaks to me and was very attentive despite how busy it was. It was a very good experience, my 2 teenage granddaughters loved their food (smash burger and filet mignon) and had a wonderful time. I forgot to mention the pickles...they give you a bowl of pickles to munch on while you wait for the food, I love pickles! My wife and I have made the trip to Arthur's annually from Florida for the past 12 years or so to celebrate my birthday. That includes during the Covid period where we had to get takeout. This years visit started with a borderline rude hostess and ended with an extremely mediocre "Arthur's" delmonico. Requested a medium-rare, arrived more medium and tough.
