In the area and hungry, so decided to grab a slice of pizza. Only a stone's throw from the subway exit, I found this place. It's small, and simple in a good way. The menu is easy to read. The prices per slice are super competitive. There is also a decent variety of slices to choose from. Including vegan and gluten free options. There is also a chalkboard outside with combos they offer. I decided to go with the white slice to satiate my hunger. It had a great texture and the flavor was on point. Perhaps because it was a white slice, it wasn't too greasy. After enjoying my slice I struck up a chat with the person manning the place today named Sagar (hope I spelled it correctly). Nice guy, and he told me they've been open 5 months. I highly recommend checking this place out if you're in the West 4th area. read more

Came here late after the movies, it is close to NYU so makes sense the hours are open late. The dude at the counter didn't really answer my questions. I was asking about which flavors and he just pointed to all the vegan ones... So I just picked two that looked like had the most veggies. Price is not bad for the quality & availability. There are SO many pizza places in the village and this is one to skip. I was going to go to my normal spot on Bleecker St but passed this and saw the awesome Yelp reviews. The spot is very small, only had a few stools near the window. The guy behind the counter was really nice and they had a LOT of varieties of pizza. It's been open less than a year but I feel like most of the good reviews have been posted by tourists and not real New Yorkers. I saw another review comparing this place to Joe's. Joe's has always been 5 stars! I got 2 cheese slices with a soda for $4.50. Really liked the price but the pizza was bland. Like I said previously, so many other delicious pizza joints in the area. Good if you need a quick bite, and it's nice that they have vegan pizza, but the quality leaves a bit to be desired. I got the vegan BBQ pizza and the vegan Choritzo pizza. The BBQ pizza wasn't bad but wasn't great. I thought I preferred the Chorizo pizza better, but then realized it had some weird sauce on it that was like thousand island dressing with some relish mixed in. I am not a fan of relish whatsoever - especially on pizza! I have to admit that the crust was nice and thin and crispy, so that was good. Would probably only return if I'm in the area and need something quick, or I'm really really craving pizza and the quality doesn't matter. read more

I ordered it twice because it was my birthday and I didn't want to bother with the price but after eating the two pizzas and cokes I must say never again. Even the soda was cray expensive. It must have been a total of fifty dollars for two normal sized pizzas and two cokes. They don't offer caffeine free which is another issue. Artistic Pizza is one of the only places I know of in the city that has AMPLE options of vegan pizzas BY THE SLICE! Look, I will admit that it is not difficult to find a vegan slice around New York, but the option is usually plain cheese, vegetable, or sometimes you might get lucky with a vegan sausage. Lots of other places offer vegan pizza with more toppings, but only as a whole pizza. This place has about 5-7 vegan slices available all day long in flavors/toppings that are exciting and satisfying: BBQ Chicken, Buffalo Chicken (my two favorites), Hawaiian, Pepperoni, etc. Needless to say, this place has all of the vegan mock meats And I really applaud them for having so many vegan options. The shop is small, the service is quick and friendly, and the pizza is to die for. Unfortunately I feel like this place gets very overlooked, but it is a place you will not want to mess! If you're trying to decide between this and Ben's Pizzeria across the street, I'll save you the trouble - Ben's is terrible and Artistic is great. Sure, Artistic is tiny, but their pies are fresh, the owner is the nicest dude, and they have pretty inventive pies (including vegan options). I got a plain and asked what their specialty was. And that's how I ended up with a plain and a chicken ranch slice. Both were pretty damn good! And cheap! I'd forgotten how large a slice of street pizza in NYC is. This joint is tiny and cleaner/newer than some of its nearest counterparts, and slightly cheaper. We came here when there was no line, and sat in a couple of the 4 hightops available as seating. It's in an 'artistic' area, around the corner from jazz clubs, a cinema and Washington Square Park. The sidewalk outside was busy on a Friday night, but this didn't bother my toddler, who thought it was a blast to run from inside the store and jump onto the metal cellar doors just outside, repeatedly, while we waited for our pie. Thank you, generous Artistic Pizza owners, for smiling instead of complaining about our wild kid who danced in your tiny floorspace and asked endless questions. Purchasing a whole pie is essentially the same price as buying their slices with a drink; it was ready in 15 minutes. We all enjoyed our giant cheese slices. Of course, there's no bathroom here, beware, but that's pretty typical of this area in general. read more

Just what we were looking for after a day exploring the city! Artistic is a tiny pizza by the slice shop with just 4 dine in seats located in the West Village. The price, size, and quality of the pizza is on par with many other similar places around the city, but the thing that sets Artistic apart from the rest is it's both vegan and non-vegan selection (perfect for this couple). While we had originally planned on visiting Screamers in Brooklyn (a famous vegan pizza joint), we opted against it when we realized it would take 45 min both there and back. I was so excited to find a highly rated place offering vegan options right on our way home, and i was definitely not disappointed. Delicious halal pizza joint with authentic NY slices. The toppings are incredible and give you a real taste of a NY pepperoni slice while being halal. If you haven't included this in your NY pizza crawl, definitely add it to the list! My favorite Friday ritual is getting a slice and eating it on my way down to Washington Square park. It's a really thin slice; it was great the next night after it was reheated in the oven. There's so many pizzerias in NYC that it's actually quite difficult to find a decent slice. I was totally happy about this place until I tried their cheese slice. 4 stars for the mushroom and pepperoni slice but the reg cheese slice didn't have the same quality. Pretty effin good gluten free vegan 10" pizza for under 20 bucks, vegan cheese oozing off of it. They treated me like I was a valued customer even though I have the worlds most irritating allergies. They also have vegan slices ready made and under 5 bucks but those aren't also gluten free. read more
