Food was okay nothing too special, but it did come out in a timely matter and was a good portion. Service was on the slow side as far as bringing drinks (which he got wrong) and taking our order. Our server wasn't that friendly and seemed like he was having a bad day. We ate underground so that was interesting, those who are claustrophobic I would not recommend. We didn't have to wait to be seated but as we were leaving there were others waiting outside so I'm guessing it does get packed. This wasn't the best tacos I've had by no stretch of the imagination but indeed I've had worst. It was within walking distance of UT since my assignment today was situated there and the parking didn't allow any in or outs. I ordered their migas on corn with egg whites and no cheese. They won't substitute by subtraction. You pay extra for that. This specialty tacos start at $3.25. The portion on the taco was not heavy or a healthy portion so it's not worth the cost to me. It was a little oily and their nothing memorable about it for being one of three signature tacos. Next taco was a build your own from from a list of choosing two items for just under $2. I ordered potato and egg whites and some bacon. You pay about .50 more an additional item. Again, this taco was not memorable, potato looked dark and it was fried too long, with only a few pieces of bacon ( what a rip off), small portion, to me it was nothing special. Kinda of bums you out if your San Antonio and used to better results. The corn tacos itself was nice. The salsa had no but. Food was uninspired. I get what they are trying to here by being ur little home in the wall neighborhood little taco joint but it's not delivering on the hype. The ambience and decor are top notch and the place is clean. Friendly staff that knows how to handle the rush. Missed out on their breakfast, but that didn't stop me from ordering from their day menu of delicious, real, Tex-Mex. I'm talking home styled black beans, Mexican rice, and quesadillas. They also have a good selection of sandwiches and salads, coffees and lemonades. When I visit Austin again I'd sure like to try their other dishes. The food was spot-on. Delicious melted cheese, sweet chipotle sauce, all smothered on the juicy grilled chicken, sandwiched in between two grilled tortillas and topped with cilantro. The atmosphere was interesting. There's a reason why it's called an "underground cafe" and it's because the main dining area is literally under street level. It allows a kind of hipster feel as you eat. read more

Cute little place with delicious selection of breakfast menu. We had to sit outside on their small patio area. The tables could use a little cleaning because of bird poop and leaves strewn about. Parking is tough they don't really have a designated parking lot. They have parallel parking in front but only a few spots. read more

A nice little local neighborhood eatery. A good selection of unique breakfast, brunch & lunch options will make anybody pleased and satisfied. It's a small place so on game day expect a line. But servers and management still on top of things even with the crowds. Bonus: Caffe Latte was really good. read more

The selling point for me is that all the coffee is FairTrade certified. Delicious breakfast for exactly $10 is a bonus! Funky background radio is playing Steve Martin's King Tut; funky basement restaurant decor is fun. If you like some spice in your breakfast and appreciate coffee whose growers are fairly paid, and are in Austin, definitely try it out. I'm a visitor to Austin and will be leaving for the airport in 2 hours, but hope to return. read more

Okay, this is very Austin! Underground eatery, eclectic interior design, staff laid back and super nice! I usually go for the simplest meals (I figure if they screw that up, then it's likely their other stuff ain't that good either) and their GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICHES are the bomb. Really cool place. Very urban/hipster style and the staff working there are the nicest people ever. They even have us chocolate chip cookies on the house! :) The food was really good. I had roasted potatoes which were delicious and poached eggs Austin style with an amazing hollandaise. Really good! It's certainly not a place to come if you are in a hurry as (they even warn you in the menu) it's all made to order so takes a bit, but totally worth it. This place is a great, small brunch place! It's underground (as suggested) and feels, although enclosed, really roomy and comfortable. As for the food, I ordered the Bueno scrambled eggs (sausage, pepper, jalapeño, and cheese), which came with house fries. The food tasted absolutely great, was of decent price (~$13), and the staff were very friendly and timely. I would highly recommend this place to a friend and intend to come back soon! :) read more

Arturo's is a hidden gem. As a a university student, i am shocked that this place isn't mentioned more. Arturo's is the epitome of no bs breakfast/lunch food, it's just delicious. The eggs benidict is some of the best I've ever had, and the jeuvos rancheros are killer. Lunch sandwiches hold up against the breakfast as well (the ranch sandwich is to die for). By far my FAVORITE place for brunch. Their menu is so simple, yet complex at the same time. I was in Austin for the film festival and fell in love with this little spot. It's everything you could want in a college campus-adjacent coffee shop. I had a couple of breakfast tacos and a coffee for about $10. The tacos were delicious and filling (seriously wishing breakfast tacos were a thing at home in Kansas City!). I love this place! I go to school across the street and this is my go-to place for coffee, breakfast tacos or lunch or sometimes all three. The guys that work here are all super nice, and the food is delicious. My favorites are the Peace taco for breakfast, and the Thai Grilled Chicken salad for lunch. I'll be sad when I'm done with school and Arturo's will no longer be a short walk away, but I'll probably still go out of my way to come here, it's that good. read more

Updated review: My initial review described how guests fled Arturo's because a customer had panicked and screamed "There is a rat!" As you can see by the comment left by the owner, there was a small mouse (as I suspected) in the dining area. The owner has assured that the restaurant is regularly suspected. My review score has been changed to reflect that. It still remains that the restaurant probably should have been closed at that point. Take that as you will. Other thoughts: The food was great and James, the server is hilarious. The servers seemed a bit overwhelmed with taking care of a full restaurant and with what happened earlier, but they were friendly. I would consider returning on a day less busy than Sunday brunch,fingers crossed there is no mouse. read more

Working at the state offices, you have a limited # of eateries close by. Arturo's is on the short list of good food placed close to my office. The tacos plates are consistently good. The food is fresh, hot, and tasty and reasonably priced. If your in that area of town, it is a go to place for lunch. read more

This place is the bomb. Everything on the menu looked awesome and out Austin Benedict and Diablo open sandwich were great. The weather probably bumped this up .5 a star but 3.5 still isn't shabby. We had a bit of a wait and had to stand outside for about 10-15 minutes but it was beautiful out so we didn't mind it at all. I'll start with the $14 mimosa carafes. it's the perfect champagne to orange juice ratio. Come with a couple of friends and you guys are all set to get your day drinking started with a bang. As a group we tried the El Diablo, Caribbean French Toast, Bueno and Migas Scrambles -- all two thumbs up. I told our server Gabriella (who was great) that if I had more thumbs I would have given more. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience and I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a nice brunch spot in town. read more
