Perfect dinner date night. We came in last night with some friends and were so impressed. We had not been here in a few years. We loved it then, and love it again now. Last minute decided to go here for my mom's birthday, although they recommend having a reservation, we got in quickly without one. Although it was packed for a Tuesday night. The food was AMAZING! I cannot say enough good things about both our dishes. I wasn't sure what to get as a side, so I took the waiter's recommendation of their Polenta and I'm so glad I did, it was to die for. The waiter was great and provided awesome service. At the end of our meal, he saw my mom opening her present and offered her a free dessert when he found out it was her birthday. The only thing I didn't like about the place was how close the tables are to each other. There was a rather large man seated at the table next to us and I felt uncomfortably close to him the whole time. His elbow kept hovering over our table and it was really awkward when I would try to put my arm down on the table... We've been here in the past and loved it. However this time wasn't so great. My son and I had ordered the same type of meat. Flat iron made medium. My sons was perfect. Mine came rare. I asked if they could cook it a little longer to bring it to medium. They had it for about 10 mins and it was a little more cooked but still rare. The picture of when they brought it back the second time. When I told the waitress that it was still rare she corrected she told me that it is medium. Then I pointed to the steak next to me that was made perfectly. She offered to have it put on the grill again and I declined. They took my meal off the ticket. Everyone else's meal in my party was good. When you go to a steak house and spend $50 for a steak you expect it to be made correctly. 2nd time eating here, first time was in January 2020 & I was excited to order the amazing polenta that I had tried of my friends the last time I came. However, it was not cooked the same whatsoever (not creamy at all) and was super disappointing. Also, I ordered the Tenderloin steak medium rare and it came medium well.. also disappointing. I'm wondering if they lost their normal chefs during the covid shutdown? If so, the newbies need to step it up. I can't properly review the food as we were more or less refused service. My boyfriend made a reservation, and while we were seated immediately and provided water, no one ever even came to take our drink order. It was on Easter morning and there were only 2 other tables in the entire place that were occupied. After sitting there for more than 15 minutes, another couple were seated right next to us. As soon as they were provided water, a server came up and asked for their drink order. We waited about one more minute then decided to walk out as we felt very insulted. A server ran up to us as we were getting up, and she apologized saying "there was confusion" as to "who was supposed to serve" us, which is basically a nice(?) way of saying no one wanted to serve us. We continued to walk out. I am very disappointed in how poorly we were treated. There was no excuse for what happened: we had a reservation, it was not crowded by any means, our waters were refilled a few times which shows that they were aware we were there, and the couple next to us got service within 2 minutes of sitting down while we were waiting for almost 20 minutes. read more

We were a large group of people who came in on a Friday night. We had made a reservation about a week in advance and the whole process was seamless. The people working here are very kind and courteous. That was evident from the first interaction to the moment we stepped out. Even the valet parking men (adjacent to the restaurant) were so nice and sporting despite the rain. We had 3 surprise birthday celebrations while we were there and our sever was so generous to let a couple of us pick the desserts as we decided on our appetizers. She was just incredibly kind. That level of service extended was not just to our table but the entire restaurant even where there were a couple sitting beside the windows or families having dinner together. It's a very energetic restaurant with musicc, hustle and bustle yet relaxed. The food was great too. We ordered the sampler appetizer with crab cakes, ceviche and calamari. I wasn't too fond of the calamari because it got soggy really quickly but the other two were great. The food itself was good too, depending on what you ordered. Majority of our table ordered steak and pasta which were great. I personally enjoyed the sea bass fish I had. It was just delish with the sauce and the whole plate went really well. The other popular dish to order was the Serrano wrapped chicken and sadly it was beyond salty for our table due to the goat cheese so it had to be sent back. So if you order the chicken with goat cheese, you have been warned. The drinks we had were a mix of beers, scotch and cocktails. I especially enjoyed the Pom Drop - it was so well balanced. The desserts we had were brownie, cheesecake and toffee cake. You must dry the toffee cake! It was heavenly. So the pork chop was so so .. a bit too dry and tough. However this Oritos Fritos was 'da bomb .. basically their version of bananas foster. Bananas wrapped in a tortilla or something and fried with a banana macadamia nut ice cream. And the appetizer was excellent too. Decided to go to Asado's for my daughter's engagement dinner, as we haven't been for a couple of years and had always been quite pleased. Not the case this time. This place has taken a serious nosedive. I believe that it must be with ownership & management. The restaurant was dirty, the bathrooms had not been attended to all night, at the table the wine glasses were streaked, and spotted, most likely washed and set upside down to dry and then never polished. Regarding the service it was apparent that we were there for the server, not the other way around. She was brisk w/o being cordial. I brought a bottle of wine which we went through ($30.00 cork fee) and was going to buy another bottle, but the wine steward never returned until near finish of service, so decided against it. There were some good selections, but there weren't any south American selections as I would expect from this restaurant. When the meal arrived, it was room temperature, and so over salted that no one finished their entrées. The server had to have left it on the line for over 20+ minutes. When the wine steward, maybe Manager, as he was the only one that appeared to be somewhat in charge, I was asked if we wanted another bottle, and how was everything, I let him know about the salt and the food temp. I was offered polenta as compensation, I kid you not, why bother? Politely I refused. I paid and we left. I wouldn't have enjoyed this meal at any price, but Asado's is top tier on their pricing, so I have the expectation level to match it, they failed miserably, I'm done. read more

After coming to Asado a handful of times I think I'm finally at the place where I can write a review. I'll start by saying that Tacoma lacks any great Hispanic places to eat. (With the exception of Mexican food). Asado markets it's self as an "Argentinian" restaurant. However, it's pretty far from that. I can't say that the food is terrible - because it's not, it's just ok. Some of their dishes are better than others, such as their empanadas. But an "Argentinian chophouse" that serves up chewy churrasco -No Bueno. Lunch is more reasonably priced than dinner, which is pretty pricey. In my opinion Asado hits the mark with the decor & sometimes the service , but usually misses with the food. The only time I will dine at Asado is for their happy hour (only on food items - not beverages ) because those items are not through the roof expensive , and usually tasty. I'll conclude by saying, it's worth a shot if you don't set your expectations too high, and are ok with shelling out a decent chunk of change for a steak that may or may not be to chewy to swallow. read more

Came here to eat expecting to be blown away. The food was decent. I ordered a quinoa bowl that sounded delish but besides being spicy (which I like,) it had NO taste or flavor to it. My husband ordered a fried chicken chorizo fettuccine. The chicken was pretty good but the fettuccine had ZERO flavor. We took our leftovers home and seasoned both our meals like crazy and added some extras to get it to taste good. Our server was very sweet, the environment is cool. But it's definitely not a place I would tell my friends, "hey you gotta check this place out!" Nope. I would tell people who are reading this, I paid $120 for a meal I could've made better at home. Awesome happy hour! Love how they do happy hour on the weekends too. Probably the best caipirinha we've ever had and that includes those made by real Brazilians. Steak skewer with mashed purple potatoes was so tasty. (I switched out beans for potatoes). Surf and turf (steak bites and prawns) came with toasts and a delicious sauce. Ok, let me start by saying that my boyfriend and I actually like this place but there were a few hiccups and is why we rate it a 3. First, the host, bussboy, and server were all super friendly and approachable. Host guy sat us down as soon as we came in (we also had a reservation). Bussboy got us bread right away and our server got me my drink asap. But that is where the fun ended with our server. She was super sweet but NOT ONCE did she offer to get us more bread NOR did she offer me a refill on my drink. What made it worse was the fact that she got more bread and drinks for the tables around us, and they didn't even ask her. Second, our food. Food was actually great, with one exception. DON'T put food on the plate that is unedible. I had full length green onions (roots and all) that were very difficult to eat. And my boyfriend's plate had some sort of peppers with full stems on them. That's a nono. Other than all that, it's a decent place. Very loud but decent. We started out with some appetizers, creating a sampler of the crab cakes, calamari and Serrano wrapped prawns. All were very good. For the entree, I went with the Lomo since that is what they are known for. This is a great plate, something I'll be looking forward to coming back for again in the future. That chimichurri is amazing. I capped it off with the cheesecake as I'm a bit of a cheesecake fanatic. This one definitely delivered. One of the best cheesecakes I've had in a long time. All in all, this place lives up to all the hype. It's a little bit funky with the decor and vibe. But I dig that sort of thing. The food was okay, extremely overpriced just for everything to tase like chimichurri sauce. my main issue with this location was the ambiance and staff. the manager Michael kept awkwardly hovering over our table disrupting our conversation ill leave it at him being a strange man who seemed highly unsure of himself and his position within this restaurant . our waiter was rude and rushed, and to put the cherry on the top a chef with an unkept beard aggressively eyed us down from the kitchen the entire time, I dont believe this company is as progressive as they make themselves out to be for this was my first time coming in with my friends of color and the difference in energy was outrageous. We went to Asado a couple months ago and I'm drooling just thinking about their steak! It is probably the most flavorful amazing steak that I've ever ate. It practically fell apart and was perfect paired with the garlic mashed potatoes. The potatoes were so flavorful - the perfect balance of garlic and butter. The meal started with bread and butter that literally melted in your mouth. The service was superb, the waiter was patient and able to explain every item on the menu.
