We were so hungry after an unexpected delay and overnight layover in Chicago. Not the best note to start Spring Break on. Luckily we had about $60 in vouchers and the restaurant at the Renaissance Hotel was Asado. To say we were hungry was an understatement. The kids had grilled cheese, cheeseburger with fries, hubby had the Asado burger and I ordered the steak sandwich. Hubby and I had a beer and glass of Pinot Noir. The waitress was nice and the food was abundant! I still couldn't believe how many fries there were. Everything tasted phenomenal and the best part was $60 off our meal. Not bad, right? Definitely check this place out if you find yourself in the area or, like us, you find yourself delayed overnight at the Renaissance O'hare suites of Chicago. It could always be worse. read more

I usually stay here for my work trips. I've gone to the bar and the restaurant for breakfast but came for lunch for a team outing. Menu is limited and only has a few things. My go to is the chicken quesadilla! Pretty good. Their Cesar salad is also pretty good. Service can take a while but mostly all are super friendly. Okkkk Let's begin. Arrived on a thursday, was here for business. Got in late afternoon, and was initially eager to try some restaurant nearby, but i got lazy. After scrolling through several other places, getting side tracked and going to the gym i decided to eat here. The place looks like a typical marriott lounge eatery, i had asked the waitress between the asado burger versus the steak sandwich she said the burger was better. I was in the mood for something simple, safe , and filling. I ordered the ceasar salad and the asado burger The Caesar salad was chopped up lettuce that was crispy and fresh, but was topped with aged parmesan that felt and looked more like shards of plastic. I ate the leaves like a rabbit, and hopefully i will be able to digest the parmesan micro plastics. The Asado burger was surprisingly good. I ordered it as is, medium well. The first few bites i would rate it as a 4/5. But as i got to the second half, maybe more of a 3/5. The bun was lightly toasted brioche bun, cheese was good, but my other half of the burger patty was more char than meat. Tasted like a grill for a few bites. The fries were a touch wet, soggy. I did not try other food, but if i was feeling lazy, wanted something simple and quick, i think i would get the burger again or maybe venture to the steak sandwich.. This rating is for the convenience, simplicity and overall happiness level of having gone here than any other chicago restaurant outside of the hotel. This is the restaurant inside Renaissance Chicago O'Hare Suites Hotel. The receptionist advised us we could use airline meal vouchers there and to charge the meal to the room and then present the vouchers at checkout and they would deduct the voucher credits. This seemed a quick and easy answer to getting something to eat before getting as much sleep as we could before going back to the airport. It was easy, but, unfortunately, not quick at all. The dining area is a quiet space and an easy place to unwind. There was one person working the restaurant floor. She worked as hostess and server for everyone. When we arrived, there were two other people there. Each of them at their own table. Mr. T ordered a cheeseburger with fries and I ordered two scoops of gelato. Fifteen minutes later, the server came to say they were out of chocolate gelato. I opted for vanilla at that time and five minutes later, I got it. I ate both scoops in front of Mr. T who was rather hungry. He finally got his cheeseburger after waiting 40 minutes. He said the burger was edible but not very good. The fries were pretty good though and I could tell he enjoyed them more. There isn't a photo of the cheeseburger and fries because I wasn't going to put my phone camera between Mr. T and his food causing him to wait any longer. The hostess/server was trying but we noticed people waiting, like us, all they way through. She needed more help. She would be helping someone at a table and anyone coming to the hostess stand would have to wait. We waited for water refills while she was taking orders and helping others. We only noticed her food running toward the end of our time there because there simply wasn't a lot coming out of the kitchen. read more

Every time I come to Chicago I stay at the Renaissance O'Hare. Mario always provides great service at the Asado Urban Grill and the chef always seem to go the extra. Example, the hamburger and garlic fries are 'Iron Chef' quality. Seems simple enough but the attention to detail and flavor stands out as reason to earn my repeat business. read more

The food in the executive lounge at this Renaissance hotel was excellent, so we decided to go to this restaurant in this hotel thinking food would be good. BIG MISTAKE. Hardly anyone in the restaurant and took our food forever to come out. Food was HORRIBLE!! I ordered my cheeseburger medium, one part of the burger was well done and other part medium, how the hell do you even do that? My wife's ribs were also horrible. New Menu, New Chef, New Sourcing. Asado Urban Grill is Getting Great! I had the pleasure of dining at Asado this evening and everything impressed me from start to finish. There are limited off-site restaurants within walking distance from the hotel, and I read several lackluster reviews on a few websites regarding Asado so I was a bit reluctant to check-out this grill inside the Renaissance Suites O'Hare Hotel. I'm so glad I gave it a chance. The staff (Eddie at the entrance) was super helpful and friendly describing the menu and most popular dishes. I ordered the Asado Burger (mixed beef burger with bacon and cheese) and it was cooked to perfection (medium rare, juicy and pink inside), just wonderful. It also had a slight smoky flavor that was delicious. The fresh pickles and marinated onions were upscale side-condiments. Crunchy and tasty. The home made french fries were some of the best I've had. Piping hot from the fryer with excellent golden color, crispness on the outside and perfect texture inside. I devoured them. The side salad was a decent mix of cucumbers, tomatoes, red onion and mixed greens. I enjoyed the lightly coated blue cheese dressing. The chef, Jonathon, came out to greet me during my dinner, checking in on the meal. What a delight to chat with him about the quality of the food and the new menu items he's added. Above and beyond. I've eaten here a few times and always had a much better than average experience. Happy to report that even in the middle of Chicago Covid protocols, they are serving up good food still. ASADO Urban is a great little restaurant inside a wonderful hotel, The Renaissance (Marriott). I am always impressed with the design and furniture of the place-- comfortable with a capital C and swanky. What a great complement to a nice hotel. We really liked our breakfast: outstanding biscuits and gravy, and finally I found a place that knows how to cook good breakfast potatoes (unusual anymore), eggs cooked perfectly. Wife had a huge breakfast sandwich with homemade corn biscuit --not wheat flour-- which was the size of a saucer plate. And their house coffee has always been a Starbucks blend, a bonus. Usually quiet, no rush kind of place, with a good vibe and good food as always. read more

I ended up ordering my meal from Asado at the bar next to the restaurant because I got tired of waiting for someone to show up to the hostess station. The bartender was very nice. I had the crab cakes as an appetizer. I won't recommend them because there was very little crab in them and no taste of crab. I was very pleasantly surprised by how delicious the pork chop was. It's expensive but it was cooked to perfection. There was no blue moon beer available so I ordered margaritas that were ok, not great. read more

We were the only ones there on a Thursday night and we waited for our food for a long time, like 30 minutes. I ordered the mahi mahi with cilantro rice, its ok for $23. My friend ordered the pork chop for $30! If we weren't that hungry we wouldn't come here but only for the convenience as we were staying here for the night and were too tired and hungry to go out. I feel bad giving this place 2 stars, mainly because the bartender was so nice and genuine. But, it was kind of a rough go.... The only option on a Saturday night was eating at the bar which was fine. The menu is diverse and has some interesting things. Prices seemed fair (Chicago + hotel) I asked for the Charred Broccoli Salad with Salmon as well as asked for a side of the Asado Aioli out of curiosity and to try with the salmon . The bar was steadier with the restaurant closed, and I waited about 20 minutes for my food. Charred broccoli salad is listed as three item dish: broccoli, roasted beets and queso fresco. I received broccoli with intermittent chunks of cheese.... I asked. The bartender was very responsive and apologetic, stating she would get me beets right away. Comes back, they're out of beets. My substitute 4 slivers of cucumber and a couple slices of raw red onion just didn't float the boat. Never received the aioli and didn't ask with hopes to not be annoying. I did ask for more poblano dressing which was overall decent as otherwise the appropriately charred broccoli got a touch dry. The portion was huge and filling. The salmon was fresh and not fishy; debatably overcooked. In my humble opinion, a three item salad should have all of those items or the customer should be notified they don't have those. Instead, the kitchen played the, "we'll see if they notice" game. Ordered a local IPA which was kinda bleh. read more

The service is so very very very slow. I would love to give you an opinion of the skin on chicken I ordered 45 minutes ago, but I have yet to receive it, see my server, and my beer has been empty for about 15 minutes now. TOTAL waste of time and money. I've never had this disappointing service in a full service Marriott property EVER! Will never EVER come back here. STAY FAR AWAY! Update: I stayed for a total of 60 minutes and still never got acknowledged again by the server (even when he was with a table almost next to mine-he sped off before I could get his attention) nor did my food arrive. This review is for the bar. This unassuming hotel bar has secret flair. The bartender, Eddie, infuses life to the place with jokes, remembering regulars' drinks, and a little well-placed eavesdropping. At my office we say, "let's go see Eddie," at the end of a week. They also have colorful sample cocktails served in shooters- and they don't always taste like strange little mysteries. The last one I had was Malibu and pineapple juice. I'll do that for sure. They also have bomb chips n guacamole. Pro tip: for some reason wine is overpriced but beer is not. Forego your bougie instincts and settle into a pint or maybe a Manhattan. read more

For all the mixed reviews there was nothing really wrong with this place; the service was fine and the grilled chicken breast sandwich was pretty good, nicely seasoned and juicy. Just a few draft beer selections but that's fine and the seating was comfortable. A few TVs playing local sports events and news. This the place you go to because it's in the hotel and you have no vehicle. Service was bad. We had read memorized the small menu by the time the server comes by. This is definitely a place you put your food and drink orders in together. I had the Asado burger. Ordered medium, cooked well. I removed the bacon because it was burned (not crispy, covered with burnt char) We weren't offered more drinks, which is too bad because those were the best part of the meal. It's actually my least option here since this place's review is so bad. Surprisingly it's actually not that bad. For someone like me staying at the Renaissance hotel and do realize that there is nothing around here in Rosemont. This is not a bad choice. I ordered the crispy calamari. It was tender inside and crispy outside. Not particularly fresh but far away from leftover. I also like the salad on the side. This place deserves 3-3.5 star for its calamari! read more

Had a surprisingly good chicken tortilla soup and mahi taco combo for dinner. Mahi was well cooked, the shells were tasty and I liked the sauce, just a bite of spice. Soup was hot and tasty. Server was working hard. All in all solid meal. read more

My office is right near here so that means I have to eat/drink here a lot. The food is...OK. The service is ...OK. The atmosphere is just nice enough to make you forget you're in a hotel restaurant. But it's just not great for the price point. How did I just drop $30 on a lunch salad and a diet coke? Unless you REALLY need to sit down and eat..save yourself the trouble and just grab a sandwich at the Starbucks across the hall.
