Warning : you do seat yourself and it gets pretty packed as many people come here for meetings and coworking ( it was packed on a Thursday at 10 AM ) We were able to find seating within a few minutes . Our waitress was so sweet - wish I remembered her name . I got the salted vanilla cold brew with a brekky power bowl and added chicken and my friend got the Latin chicken and grains bowl. Our experience was extremely disappointing. I would rate both the service and the overall experience a 1 out of 10. Our server, Karis, seemed more interested in showing her friends the new book she was reading than taking care of her tables. We had to wait while she talked with them, and throughout our visit she was constantly running around. Every time we finally spotted her, she would walk away before we had a chance to ask for anything. We ordered two croissants, but they didn't arrive together. One was brought out first, and the second didn't come until our meals were served. By that time, our food was cold, and we had already lost our appetite. The Star is always bustling with activity. Our hotel is across the street so we keep ending up here. Decided to try Ascension Coffee at the Star (which is the Dallas Cowboys practice facility and restaurant row). The cashier wasn't friendly. There was a small patio and a small area to sit inside. We took our salted caramel latte, americano, and sausage brekkie sandwich to go. We sat on a bench down the street. Our server Cariss seemed overwhelmed and disorganized throughout our visit. When we asked another employee to get her for us, her response was, "What do they want?" Her tone was rude and dismissive, especially after we had already been waiting for assistance. A tip is not simply for bringing food to the table that is part of the job. A tip reflects the quality of service and whether the server helped make the dining experience pleasant. Unfortunately, the attitude, lack of attentiveness, and poor communication did not make us feel welcomed or valued as guests. read more

Topped it with an horchata latte that was very delicious. My friend had the lemon poppy pancakes that looked and smelled amazing and a chai latte that she stated was the best she's ever had. This is a big no thank you for the drinks, but the scone was good. I tried their coffee/tea summer flight and it was such a disappointment. No body wants soggy Capn' Crunch in their watered down coffee - at least I didn't. One of the 4 option is literally sparkling water, the other one is a gritty iced coffee of some kind that left a really bad after taste. Very cute, cozy restaurant. You seat yourself & not too long after I seated myself, the server brought water & was ready to take my order. The steak hash was absolutely delicious. It needed a little salt but I didn't bother to add because the smoky avocado sauce made up for it. I also ordered the Flirt tea, it was equally as good. A floral & smith tea. I just visited Ascension Coffee for breakfast before the Dallas Open and I just completely fell in love with it. To start, the ambiance is so fun and upbeat, it is a great place for working or having a full meal. It was a bit on the louder side, but I would imagine it was because of the event going on. Our server was genuinely so sweet and helpful. Really personable and just kind. I loved the s'mores board - I always see their coffee flights online and really want to try! It lived up to my expectations and was perfect to share with a friend. We also shared the mimosa carafe for the table, which was a generous size and so delicious. I ordered the hippie bowl as my entree and it was so flavorful, nourishing, and yummy. I added a side of chile crisp, which was amazing and enhanced the flavors. I've tried to give this location the benefit of the doubt since I loved their Dallas location so much. This is my second time coming here and had to get up and ASK to get a menu both times. Mind you, everyone else at the restaurant gets a menu and water upon arrival with zero issues. Not trying to make it a race thing, but seeing multiple non-black people receive water and menu's AFTER I've been seated is disheartening. The restaurant is aesthetically pleasing and definitely busy. But the coffee is just okay, service was average and the food seems fresh. Not much flavor in my coffee (lavender latte) nor my food (Hippie Bowl + chicken) There are signs advertising as a farm to table vibe but some of the food definitely tasted prepacked (sysco vibe) but I could definitely be wrong! Stopped by here for a visit after a tour of the Star Cowboys training facility right across the street. The coupon card we received as part of our tour package enabled discounts at certain stores along Star Boulevard and Cowboys Way. One of the deals was 10% off at Ascension Coffee so we decided to use it. It was a pretty hot day out so we ordered a couple of cold drinks. My bro got a chocolate frappe, my dad got the apple matcha and I love my cold brews so I got the salted vanilla cream cold brew. Thumbs ups from all 3 of us with all the drinks! The cold brew was smooth. I was worried that it would be too sweet due to the vanilla cream but it towed the line perfectly. There was more saltiness to the cream than sweetness which I prefer. The apple matcha my dad had was interesting. It did taste a lil on the artificial side and the apple was definitely more pronounced than the matcha. The chocolate frappe tasted like a milkshake (I prolly would order it w/o whipped cream myself). They made the drinks in a pretty timely manner. Maybe took 5-10 mins? We ordered our drinks 30 min before closing time and sat like 30 min past closing time and they were very nice about it (we sat on the sofas to rest our legs)! Stopped by this spot for a coffee break. Coffee was really good, we ordered the hazelnut latte and lavender vanilla cappuccino. We also ordered their pancakes for a snack. Great service! Our server was quick and respectful. My cappuccino came out wrong at first and she was quick to correct it. This place a good spot for students, business men, small groups like couples or dates, and can occupy bigger groups. Only thing is, it's more on the quieter side, great for studies or work meetings of the like, or for those looking for a chill spot with a cup of Joe. Overall experience was good. Had the chance to check out Ascension for brunch today. Pleasantly surprised by how good their food was, but the coffee was actually just ok to me personally. Tried the fall flight which had some pumpkin flavored coffees and butterscotch flavors. Probably would have been better to try just one kind, like a flat white or something. Steak sandwich: 10/10. The fries that came with it could have been more crispy and flavorful. Asian Fried chicken sandwich: 9/10, a little greasy but good flavor. The spice they used was complex. Service was really good. I got checked on a million times. And he gave good recommendations. Was pretty busy for a rainy Saturday. Probably would be a wait if the weather was nicer. On a crisp sunny morning we walked into this cafe close to the cowboys practice field. We were not sure what to expect, but it turned out to be an excellent find for cappuccino. Full bodied, not bitter, aroma of dark chocolate and citrus were first notes to hit with crema. It was like close your eyes and imagine the valley where coffee was grown. Not just cappuccino, most of their ingredients are locally sourced. And our server was amazing enough to offer us suggestions on food items. I had veggie sammie which was excellent. The deal seemed to be, seat yourself for eat-in and stand in the line to go. (There was a sign saying find a seat and a server will come) I just wanted coffee, but I wanted it "for here" so I found a seat. 15 minutes later, no server appeared. Many walked by, but none made eye contact. So, I went to the front counter to order my coffee, no problem. I was instructed that if I wanted it for here, I would have to sit. I explained I had tried that, but no server had come. The person explained I should sit anyway, and she would ensure I got served. I went back to my table, and watched as the servers did side work. Finally the person from the front counter spotted me, and took pity, taking my coffee order at least. A grumpy server showed up, and took my order again. I added a side of fruit. The $5 side of fruit was ridiculously tiny. The Kenyan pour over was $9, but was meh. I don't mind paying good prices for high quality, but this was meh. Meh quality, poor service.
