On our most recent visit I had the pork tenderloin stuffed with spinach, roasted red peppers and Gouda cheese special and it was so delicious. Saturday night we took a chance to visit this restaurant without reservation. What a lucky break. We both started the meal with a cup of Portuguese Kale soup which was delicious. I had the sautéed seafood and my husband had the seafood trio. Bot of us were blown away with our meals. We opted for the carrot cake dessert. Our server, Susan, was fabulous with recommendations and just enough chit chat to be welcoming but not annoying. A plus was the owner, Jorge, stopped by and thanked us for visiting his restaurant. When I heard they were opening up a Portuguese restaurant I was a bit hesitant because I had went to a Portuguese Restaurant in the past and was not really a fan. However when I arrived and looked at the menu- I wouldn't really pigeon hole it as Portuguese food, especially when they have "traditionally" Italian and Mexican dishes such as Burrito's and Chicken Parmesan on their menu- so if you're hesitating based on that, don't! I really like the aesthetic of this place. It has a lot of cool and interesting details- such as their name woodburned into the booths. It has a clean and sleek overall look which is nice to see. They started us off with bread- which was AMAZING! It was still warm & it was just so good! I love Portuguese Bread! Our service was great. Our waitress was helpful, gave great suggestions for meals and drinks, was friendly and also very attentive. My boyfriend got the filet tips and I got the chicken sandwich. The portions were BIG, the quality was on point! Finally no chewy chicken & the flavors were amazing! Also let me point out the prices are extremely reasonable and affordable! Realistically- this is a place you can go out to eat with your family or have a nice date night without breaking the bank! I definitely will look forward to returning. One thing to add- I called the following Saturday to get a take out order and they don't do take out! That was a little disappointing! Attended an important family event in the banquet room and everything went smoothly, it was a large gathering and all of the servers were attentive and friendly, when the banquet concluded we went outside and sat on the outdoor balcony and enjoyed the live music, great guys that played guitar and took requests, even brought up my nephew to help the band! read more

Late lunch on my birthday. We both started with signature cocktails - I really enjoyed the Honey Crisp Old Fashioned. Pleased that the food wasn't rushed out and we had time to sip & enjoy. There were plenty of customers, but the restaurant wasn't crowded at this off-time. The atmosphere is nice, with the exception of too many screens for my taste (but I believe I'm in the minority on that one ). Service was excellent: prompt, efficient, friendly but not intrusive. My husband ordered steak & shrimp, served with a white gravy. His veg looked nice: fresh mixed veg seemed well prepared. We were both happy that the steak was as-ordered. Sometimes it's hard to get a rare steak. He surprised me by having dessert, too. A warm bread pudding style dish. A satisfying meal. Mine was Carne A Latagana (Pork Tenderloin Tips, finished with little clams). The description said "savory" - and it surely was. Delicious! Served with garlic bread that was very nice, and perfect for sopping up the yummy sauce. I would recommend this dish. Ambiance: Outdoor lighting at the facility is harsh, with glaring bright white flood lights aimed in every direction. Consider use of a lighting professional to do good lighting at the facility, not an electrician and business will flourish. Dim the outside lights a little, aim them down (not out), use warmer inviting light and business will do even better. Ambiance, not glaring prison lighting! Patrons want to relax not feel like it's an interrogation precinct. It's difficult to understand folks could sit outside this summer and enjoy eating under the high powered search flood lights, may not be very relaxing. Simple adjustments to dial it in. It's somewhat rare to find a restaurant outside of Boston or Providence that does everything right. From the minute we were greeted to our way out the door, Assados delivered in every respect. The service was prompt and cheerful, the drinks were perfect and the appetizers and meals were delicious. We sampled the stuffed quahog and calamari and they were perfectly prepared. My baked stuffed shrimp was delightful and my wife enjoyed the grilled octopus. A great evening at a great restaurant. read more

Having been here on several occasions, I am still coming back for more! I had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with one of the owners. This is a Father/Son run operation. They have a tremendous staff that work hard to keep the front of house moving flawlessly. There is a lot of attention to detail. Even the check is placed in a thoughtful holder fitting to the brand! The restaurant itself is clean and details are attended to. They were lighting one of the small fireplaces as dusk set in. Attention to detail is obvious even in the small things. The food is flavorful and portions ample. Whoever the chef is takes their job seriously. I really loved the calamari app! Very fresh and has a nice Portuguese twist. I've had several entrees and have never been disappointed. Their fish and chips are ginormous! All of these experiences and I have yet to try dessert here. Recently had lunch there for a birthday celebration. Food is very good. The Portuguese kale & chourico soup was excellent. Very flavorful. I have tried kale soup many times & at many restaurants & I would say this is a favorite. The restaurant favors Portuguese cuisine but does have items on the menu that are traditional cuisine as well. Staff is very attentive, friendly & helpful. We were there on a busy Saturday afternoon & service was spot on . Good size portions as well. The sandwiches are great. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

My family decided to try Assados because we're Portuguese and like to try new places for birthday celebrations etc. I am shocked this place has such positive reviews. Starting with the apps... The Calamari was very sloppy, overbreaded and lacked flavor. Think of Burger King Onion rings only with calamari. The sauce it came with was not a winner. The chicken wings. We ordered plain wings because there were some kids at the table. Apparently in the Assados kitchen "plain" means bland. Literally not a crystal of salt or pepper in the wings. Really astounding that a restaurant wouldnt know that your supposed to season fried chicken. I had the Portuguese Steak. A Portuguese steak should be drowning in brown sauce with enough to mix in with rice. This steak was medium, but still tough somehow. Speaking of the rice... Also a miss. It tasted like they forgot to rinse before cooking and I am 100% sure thats what happened. The steak was served with fries AND roasted potatoes AND rice !!! Thats 3x carbs and we werent given an option for sides. Others at the table gave reviews on their selections. Southwest Chicken sandwich: Very tough and poor taste. Burgers: Over-charred and burnt tasting. The fries that came with the sandwiches and burgers looked aesthetically pleasing but the feedback was that they were awful and soggy. The proof was in the fact that they were pretty much all intact when the servers came to pick up the plates. Overall this was a bad dining experience. The servers were attentive, but the food tastes below homemade quality. Think Ponderosa at best. I am guessing the reviews are friends of the establishment or locals who dont know any better ( this place is in a rural area). Save yourself the gas money and go somewhere else. Assados is in a nice building, but if youre not in the market to buy a building, there is no reason to go to Assados. Stick to East Providence, Fall River or New Bedford if you want to get some Portuguese food. The kitchen standards in this place are amateur. read more

Was down the street taking family holiday photos and wanted to pop in for lunch! Beer was great after holiday photos with a 1 year old! Had beer lemon pepper wings were amazing! Not your average bar wings the seasoning was perfect! And got potato skins perfectly crisp and bacon bites tasted real! Our daughter loved her chicken strips and fries and they brought out chocolate ice cream after for her. We will definitely be back if in the area again! Food here is amazing! We have visited twice so far. The interior and exterior under went a much needed face lift and looks amazing. They have a great variety on the menu along with some great specials. Service was good and friendly. Food and portions were fantastic. I recommend reservations as this place gets busy at dinner time. If I had to point out one down side the mixed drinks are a bit pricy for what you get. The giant ice cube in the glass isn't fooling anyone. The drink was good but overpriced for the quantity. We've driven by here a handful of times and it was always packed and now we know why! The food and service was fantastic. My husband had their clam chowder soup and I their Tuscan which both were hardy and flavorful. He had the Po'boy which he loved and I had their delicious tender pork chops with tasty mashed potatoes and gravy and a crispy tasty salad and their bread was really good too. The owner, Jorge, stopped by to ask how our meal was which was cool and when I told him that it was a great decision to go somewhere new because it was my birthday he insisted on an after dinner drink which was delicious! I couldn't wait to get home and write this review, it's so nice when you get to honestly give a five star review. The atmosphere five out of five, the staff five out of five. We were greeted right when we walked in, a Sunday night at 6 o'clock no way. There was a woman that came by to deliver appetizers, everybody would check back to make sure the food was OK. We had Gianna for a waitress and she was a doll so sweet. Attentive without being over bearing. For an appetizer, we share the stuffy's, they were excellent a perfect consistency for the stuffing with lots of clams, chourizo, and peppers. My husband got the pork and clams dish. I have had this from different places before but I have to say the sauce at Asados is the best I've had. I got the seafood sauté. It comes served over rice, but I asked if I could have it over pasta. In hindsight, I should've stuck with the rice. It had a wonderful rich flavored broth that would have been soaked up so nicely in the rice. The flavor was delicious. There was plenty of seafood, and the seafood was fresh and perfectly cooked especially the scallops. We loved it and we will definitely be back! Next time we are going to plan to try the mixed grill for two and the nachos. read more

Very beautifully done remodel, still keeping the rustic atmosphere that it always had. The food is awesome!! There weee 4 of us and we all loved the meals- lobster ravioli, prime rib, steak tips. Our server was very efficient and accommodating with a smile. We did have to wait because it was a busy Saturday night but it was well worth it! The staff kept everything moving and running smoothly. Finally made it to Assados!! We arrived early to beat the rush. Every time we drive by, the place is mobbed...even for lunch! We were seated right away and were greeted by our server Kennedy, who was very pleasant indeed. She took our drink order as we perused both the specials and regular menus. For our apps, I chose the grilled octopus, and my wife had the chowder and stuffies. INCREDIBLE! For entrees, I chose the Mediterranean salad topped with a nice piece of salmon, and my wife had fish and chips. Again, INCREDIBLE! Everything was so flavorful and in abundance. The service, excellent the ambiance, fantastic. (I love the remodeling work) and very reasonable prices. Apps arrived rather quickly( before the drink order) and the calamari was excellent! Huge plate of Nachos as well. I surprised my wife for Valentine's Day and made a reservation for dinner. Which I highly recommend as there were diners coming through the door non stop. This place does it right! Growing up eating Portuguese food the flavors here took me right back. Our server was very attentive and had some great recommendations. The calamari is absolutely delicious!
