I love this location, the dining room is stunning. It was much bigger than I thought. The only downside is the small parking lot. A lot of people say the service was bad, but I had excellent service, in fact 3 waiters were continuously helping us throughout dinner. The food came out fast and our glasses were always filled. The food here is exceptional. I always order the shrimp picante and this location gave much more sautéed garlic topping than any other Assagios. The steak and shrimp scampi chef special was DELICIOUS! It was cooked on point and the onion and mushroom sauce was perfect. The bread was also fresh and piping hot. This is my favorite Assaggio's location on island. From the service to the taste of the food, I think it's the best! Restaurant is located across from Kahala mall... in the shopping complex with Lanakila Juice. One thing to note though, there is very limited parking right in front of the restaurant. But, there is much more parking on the other side where the pet store and Great Harvest is located. It's just a little bit of a walk to go around to the other side. But me and my family always go early... like at 5pm when they first open, so there's no problem with parking then. Italian is one of my all time favorite comfort meals and Assaggio's is my fave go to spots. I've never had a bad experience at this Kahala one, which is why we keep coming back. According to my uncle, the other locations use too much salt and just doesn't taste as good. So this particular chef knows how to season just the right amount. Hahha. Some of our favorites are the clams casino to start with... clams cooked and steamed in a white wine butter sauce tossed with onions, garlic and bacon. One of the best things to do with this dish... dunk your fresh bread in the sauce!!!! Oh em gee! Another thing I always get is their house salad. So simple and refreshing but full of flavor. Lettuce w/tomatoes, pickled veggies, peppercini pepper and cubes of manchego cheese. Mmmm. The dressing it's tossed in is an oil, vinegar dressing. It's tangy and sweet. Really refreshing! My go to dishes are the baked stuffed eggplant. Slices of eggplant stuffed with ricotta cheese, then floured and fried and baked with sauce and cheese. How can you not like that?!?! Served with choice of pasta and smothered in more marinara. My other fave is the arrabiatta. Spicy and full of bacon, ham and garlic! I can only eat this if I have no meetings for the next couple of days. Heheh. Dessert, they always have a flavor of ice cream for the month. But we seem to always get the lychee sorbet. Soooooo goood and perfect after eating a big meal! But their tiramisu is also amazing here. read more

My group of Mahjong friends had our annual holiday dinner at Assaggio Bistro on Thursday night. There were 11 of us and our plans for the night were dinner and a play "Holiday Inn" at the Diamond Head Theater. First of all our waiter was wonderful and the service was excellent. That night I was having such a nice time conversing with friends that I forgot to take pictures of my food. I enjoyed the Seafood Combo and cannoli for dessert. Everyone at my table enjoyed their meal selections as well. Overall the ambiance was pleasing and our waiter along with the servers were very attentive. Our dinner reservation was at 5:30 pm and we completed our dinner by 6:45 which gave us ample time to get to the theater. I would love to go there again for a relaxing meal. read more

I had lunch here a while ago and thought it was pretty good. Recently I came back for dinner and I thought it was ok. The service is good, but the food is just ok. The waitress made a mistake on my order. I wanted the scallops and shrimp with potatoes, but instead she brought me scallops and shrimp with linguini. She ended up brining me a whole plate of LOTS of potatoes. LoL. What I like about Assaggio's is their bread. So yummy! read more

Came back 3x since pandemic and raising it back to a 4.5. Chicken Saltimbocca (breaded with spinach and cheese and mushroom) for me with half potatoes and pasta but realizing their pasta has such a yummy fresh flavor that I should select all pasta here even though their potatoes are delish. Also tried carbonara and my daughter thought it was best she ever had. Hubz had the Marsala but he doesn't care for the breaded chicken and wanted my sautéed or grilled one they serve with the Sicilian Chicken more when I ordered this dish. Service was great. Second time to Assaggio Bistro located near Kahala Mall next to Lanikai Juice and behind Petland. Made reservations through open table and when we arrived we were seated within five minutes. The waiter was excellent and have excellent service. The bread was warm and soft. I ordered the fried calamari and the chicken pasta. My wife ordered the jumbo shrimp salad. Everything was tasty. There was adequate parking and the ambiance is very nice. Will definitely be back again. read more

Horrible tasteless meal I ever ate in a restaurant. Ordered simple pasta with marinara sauce. It was so tasteless it tasted like it was pourd straight out of the store bouggt marinara sauce jar. My friend order another pasta dish and it tasted equally horrible. We had starved all day and were pretty excited about dinner. Usually on an empty stomach and hungry, most food is good enough. My God we were so disappointed. We barely had a few spoon bites and knew it was not for us. The fact that they saw all the food being returned almost untouched should've bothered management to want to know what happened. No, it did not. It all then explains why their food quality was so horrible and their ratings are comparatively low when compared with other Assagios franchise in Honolulu. Good management would approach such clients prior to them leaving and try to see find out why their food was not eaten and hopefully fix it at for at least future customers. HORRIBLE food quality and disappointing management. Not all Americans eat junk or tasteless food. If they will collect people's money, they better be serving something edible. I don't know what they truly served that Friday 9/20/24 for our dinner. If you like Assagios, please try another. This particular Kahala Mall franchise is not for you unless they have other meals that are done right. People work hard for their money and deserve to eat right when they chose to pay for a meal out. This is one of my favorite Italian places on the island! I grew up going to the Ala Moana and Koko Marina locations with my family, and I find that all of them are pretty consistent with their food quality. I always love the comfort food here, and I always leave feeling very satisfied. Parking is easy in the Kahala location in the small parking lot by Lanikai Juice. This place does get a bit busy during peak hours. Try making a reservation on OpenTable if you can't get through with the phone line. Tonight was very busy and the service was a bit slow, and we had to keep asking for people to take our order. Luckily, I've had pretty consistently good service in the past, so maybe tonight was just extra busy. I have a handful of dishes that are my favorites. Here's a description of them! Caesar Salad -- Their Caesar Salad has the dressing made from scratch - anchovies and all! If a minimum of two people at your table order it, they will prepare the salad tableside for you. The dressing made from scratch REALLY makes a difference. I don't like anchovies at all, but you can't really taste them in the sauce and everything (egg yolk, cheese, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, etc.) really comes together so perfectly. The romaine lettuce leaves they use are always crisp and fresh, so this salad is always dynamite. Caprese Salad -- The tomatoes they use in the Caprese Salad are really yummy. They have great flavor, and the mozzarella cheese is also of good quality. They're generous with the shredded basil leaves, which I definitely appreciate. I'm a huge fan of Caprese Salad, so this classic dish is another one I really enjoy. Rigatoni with Tomato Sauce -- When it comes to pasta, I like it pretty simple. I think they cook their pasta noodles well (I like them slightly al dente), and I like the flavor of their marinara sauce. If I'm craving simple, no-frills pasta, this dish is a consistent go-to. Chicken Olio -- Garlic lovers, this is the dish for you! It also comes in a fish version. This dish is so delicious! The chicken is tender and flavorful, and the linguine pasta is to die for. It is covered in pieces of garlic and garlicky olive oil, so it's basically heaven on a plate. I really enjoy Assagio! :) read more

I feel like we need to boycott this place or something. The food here used to be good. The service was beautiful. Everything was fine. This experience has led me to think otherwise. Our party of 4 made reservations for 7:30. We checked in at 7:22 but were seated at 7:50. It wasn't until we asked a second time that we were seated. The usual for me is the Chicken Alla Saltimbocca Romana. It's hit or miss but when it's a hit, it's beautiful. The only other complaint is that the place really went downhill after the management turnover. It's priced as a fancy restaurant but the service is one of someplace in Chinatown. Also. Don't trust the pictures of menus on yelp. Look at the date. Everything is priced $5+ dollars more. read more

From the time we entered we were immediately greeted and was seated soon after, it's recommended to make reservations as sometimes they are very busy. While there were only 5 of us, we each had something different, it doesn't appear the portion sizes have suffered as other places and prices are fairly reasonable. A lot of people seem to come after work for informal gatherings with friends, they are so customer friendly, they make you feel like family. Just got home from a very enjoyable dinner tonight. Everyone enjoyed their food from Fish (Machong) Chicken with pasta and the Filet Mignon was well portion, tender and delicious! Parking is difficult but the service and quality of food is worth it. Always consistent and better than some other Assagio's on Oahu.

I got the large seafood combo with garlic sauce, chicken anchovy olio and escargot for takeout. The seafood combo pasta tasted like they just boiled the frozen seafood then dumped the seafood water on the pasta with some oil and garlic. The chicken anchovy pasta was very dry. I felt sorry for the chicken and the pasta was bone dry with no sauce. The escargot was just ok. This place is just a no for me. read more

Came here for an early Father's day dinner. Made reservations and were checked in right away. We were seated at a nice booth. The staff were nice and attentive. Kept filling up my water which is always a plus for me. I ordered their take on a Bellini. Prosecco with peach purée. It was yummy. For starters, we ordered the eggplant rollatini and the mozzarella stix. The stix were ok, the eggplant rollatini was delish and my fave appetizer to order when I dine here. For my meal I ordered the grilled chicken with breaded eggplant on top and rigatoni with a Marsala mushroom sauce. The chicken sorentino I believe. It was yummy! The chicken was well flavored and the eggplant was nicely breaded, the Marsala sauce had a nice taste. Others in my party enjoyed their meals. I came here with my Husband's family to celebrate a late Mother's Day and a retirement. We had a party of 14 and we were seated at 2 tables. The waiter was awesome! I have been going to Assaggio's for most of my adult life and have always walked away feeling content with the meal, service and overall atmosphere. We dined-in this past Saturday for my husband's birthday, and found that it has totally changed. We were seated in the back by stacks and stacks of cases of inventory; my pasta had no taste, i applied salt and pepper a few times, and didn't end up eating the rest; the waiter at times forgot about us, where we had to mention it to the server who fills the water glasses. When I mention it over dinner, my family said it's under new management. This is sad. I'll say the chocolate gelato was great, but to get the tab to us meant asking that server again to tell our waiter to bring us the check. Our whole dinner took 2 1/2 hours! Although I gave Assaggio Bistro 3 stars it was more like a 3 1/2. I chose this one cause it was a Saturday night and all of the restaurants in down town are usually crowded and require a reservation. So on a whim this is where we came. It was about 7:30ish when we got here, the parking lot is small but there was parking right in front. The staff was very welcoming and after a few minutes sat us in a booth, I requested a booth cause my son was passed out lol. Started out with the escargot, 6 pieces for 15.99. They were good, better then the ones I had at Uncle Bo's a week or so ago. For dinner I had the special which was jambalaya. It came with about 6 clams 2 large shrimps and 4 or 5 pieces of chicken...the pasta I chose was linguine. The sauce to me was a bit watery and it could have been seasoned a little better but overall a decent dish. My gf had the shrimp and chicken pesto with linguine also. Looked good but seemed a bit dry, but I didn't try it so I'm not completely sure. Dessert was tiramisu. This was the highlight of the meal for me. Who don't like cake and coffee? Lol. Our waiter was not friendly, he genuinely seemed very un-interested in our dinning experience. The spaghetti and meatballs were very bland. The meatballs tasted like under seasoned meatloaf and there was not enough sauce on the plate. Very disappointing. Our dessert cannoli was so bad I had to spite it out onto my plate. It had gone sour. I told our waiter who took it away but didn't really seem to care. We asked for it to be taken off our bill; he said he could not do it tonight but he would in a couple of days give us a refund on our card. I looked at him in disbelief. Overall it was ok. Today was the first time I've been to Assaggio's at Kahala for lunch. We went for an office party. Assaggio Bistro is located on the corner of Waialae and Kilauea Avenue. They share the same building as Lanikai Juice and UPS. We went early so we had parking but it does fill up easily. We made reservations. We had a party of 11. We were seated right away. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. He took our order and within 7-10 minutes, our food all came. Today, I ordered the Steak Sauce Linguine. It comes with onions and mushrooms. I was told if you like the sauce of their steak, you should order this. I haven't tried the steak before but I know people who rave about the steak so because I was being cheap, I just ordered the steak sauce linguine. It was good. A little too plain for me. I should've ordered it with the calamari steak. I usually order Chicken Anchovy Olio with Alfredo Sauce. It's my favorite dish when I go to Assaggio's. Surprisingly, the service was excellent today considering how busy the restaurant got. The reason for 4 stars was the price for lunch. Wish the price was a bit cheaper and wish they had lunch specials. read more

Our dessert was made far better than my experience last time, and everything was served with a smile.
