10/10 the cutest coffee shop I've ever been to! We were visiting from out of town and stopped here. We have been back two days in a row now. Had a wrap and bagel and a couple lattes. The lady was very nice and understanding that it was my husband and I's first time there. Atmosphere is calming! Sat out in the back with the swing as I was doing my homework. And it was clean with not much debris and bugs. Yes, the Wi-Fi reaches back there! This place is SO CUTE. I love little houses that have been repurposed for stuff like this. The workers were some of the nicest i've come across in a coffee shop. They were very personable and helpful. This place has a plethora of latte flavors. There are ones on their menu and then even more on a board when you walk in. They also have a few little gifts for sale in the store too. My husband and I both got bagels which were very good and lattes which were equally as delicious. Used to be one of my favorite places in Virginia Beach until today. We've been a regular supporter of Astrea since they opened. I packed up my 4 kids to take them here today and was told I couldn't order food. I arrived at 1:20, waited in line as there was one person in front of me, and when it was my turn the girl at the front desk was doing something other than taking our order. We stood there waiting for about 5 minutes. When she finished it was 1:34pm and told me I couldn't order any food since it was past 1:30. No one there cared that we had arrived 10 minutes ahead of time. I guess Astrea cares more about hard deadlines than customer satisfaction. As a business owner I'm not sure how treating customers that way plays into their business model. I certainly won't be coming back and I will no longer tell people visiting Va Beach to check out Astrea. No matter how good the food or coffee is it won't make up for the poor customer service I received today and I certainly won't send anyone I know there because I've all lost all trust I had in that place. It's not easy packing up 4 kids in the car only to be turned away and have to go somewhere else to feed them. read more

I discovered this quaint coffee shop last week, and I have visited about 5 times, even recording a video for TikTok. Each of those times, my friend and I sat outside because after a certain time it does get really congested, seating indoors is not an option. On today's visit, we arrived at 7 am and were the only patrons. We opted for the room upstairs with a desk and window view; the room provided privacy as we both work remotely in healthcare. Around 9 am, the place is bustling with traffic and the noise levels got very loud, we closed the door. During this time of conducting a work call, the owner's mother burst in the door, with two other ladies and seated them at the table behind us. The owner's mother had zero regard for the small room being occupied or the fact that a phone call was clearly in progress, someone even had mentioned "oooh I think they're working". There was a comment from the owner's mother regarding the door being open and such. I abruptly ended my work call because the volume of them in the room literally became unbearable. While this is a cute place as previously shown by others, it is not suitable for people who work remotely or anyone just wanting to sit and enjoy quietness. Truly unfortunate, that customer service lives in a far away land. read more

My wife and I have been waiting for a coffee shop in the Landstown/Courthouse area of Virginia Beach for sometime and Astraea Coffee checks all of our boxes. The atmosphere and seating selection, both inside and outside, is fantastic. Each coffee drink I've had has been delicious, although slightly too sweet. They have lots of good healthy food options, including gluten-free. The only reason I don't give this five stars is because of the long wait time. However, for now, I will attribute this to a new business. Hopefully this will get resolved after being open longer. read more

This place is very slow, like 20 minutes per smoothie slow. They offer military discount which is nice for them, but thr rest of the workers in that area who aren't military get no special rates. The prices are high IMHO for what you get. Bagels are served cold not hot like one would expect. I wanted to like this place but just feels like it's a group of ladies playing kitchen then actually running a business. Just my impression. read more

I've been here a few times and every time I'm extremely disappointed. First off with the prices I'm paying, my food should be quality, but is nothing close to. Second off I have seen the workers, multiple times, claim the customers are wrong and ordered "the wrong things" wether it be me, friends, or strangers, I have witnessed this on multiple accounts. Now for the quality of the food/coffee, simply not that great. Some items are better than others, but would highly recommend against the smoothies. I really want to like this place. It is cozy inside and out, clean, and caters to business people and families alike. Their wraps and bagels are delicious and their sweets are decent. However, their service and coffee are in need of great improvement. I have frequented Astraea 1 - 3 times each week over the past 6 weeks. No one recognizes me. The employee turnover is high. The employee knowledge of products is low. The sweets in the case are not labeled and most of the employees have no idea what is in there. Watching the baristas attempt to make coffee is painful. They are slow and poorly trained. They will spend a lot of time talking to one another while making a drink slowing down the drink making process even more. It would not be a problem if they were learning while talking but they are bumbling along with the drinks while they talk to one another about inane things. It is nice that the employees get along but their attention to details and customers is poor. While they are good about greeting customers they do not have recognition of regulars. From being there often, I know more customers names than they do. They are not consistent in taking orders and frequently mess up drink sizes and flavors. They do have many milk choices but have mixed them up in my orders. Occasionally they run out of product but when you are open only half a day and are across the court house from a grocer and have multiple employees surely someone can run for supplies. Bottom line: The place has amazing potential. The employees are nice. The food is very good. The coffee could be good but is inconsistent. I hope to see improvements. Have been wanting to try this place for a while. Love the story & location! Their service was above & beyond. I called to see if I could place a curbside order & they were so kind to accommodate me. Such friendly & fast service. They also toasted my salmon for the lox bagel I ordered which was delicious! There are lots of great menu options. The matcha was good too. Just note if you prefer less sweet matcha let them know because their original is tasty but sweet. Would definitely recommend! read more

This is the best new coffee house in Virginia Beach! Always love supporting a small business, but this place really deserves it. The owner Heather is so sweet and created such an inviting environment. With different themed rooms and decorations, everyone feels welcome. It has adorable outdoor seating areas throughout the outside of the house. She hosts different live music events as well as other vendors on different occasions! A true coffee house! They took the doors off the hinges letting you find your nook. Great espresso drinks and I would get the blueberry muffin energy balls again...even as an add on to something different and take them home. Where to start? The in-house wraps, sandwiches, bagels, smoothies, coffee, tea, wifi? Or the local goodies both sweet and savory? Or the cute merch I get to lounge around my house in? Or the cozy nooks in the cottage or the fun huge picnic tables outside or the covered patio to lounge? Maybe the fairly frequent adorable and fun harvest markets and live music? Or the hand delivery of your food outside when they're busy. I'm sorry, I can't pick just one amazing thing, it's all amazing. Oh and then you can go for a stroll on the park paths behind the coffee shop (where there's tons of free parking lot parking). Family friendly, dog friendly, peaceful, delicious, cozy, convenient, and last but certainly not least. An amazing owner, Christy and the amazing staff she hand picked. I would do zero stars if I could. Went in with a group of friends and each ordered a couple items. One person ordered an AVOCADO bagel but was given the Astrea bagel. Understandable if the lady at the register made a mistake, as there were a lot of people in the shop and was quite loud. But when we went up to tell them that they had made a mistake, the workers insisted that they were not in the wrong, and that we had messed it all up. Additionally, a second person from our group ordered a LAW AND ORDER smoothie, but was given a LAW ABIDING smoothie. Again, understandable as it was loud in the place, and the names of the smoothies are similar. But when we went to tell the employees, they gave us an attitude about it, again insisting that we were wrong and this time, the workers made it clear that we could hear their comments. This is just unacceptable, considering that they charge nearly 15 dollars for a small wrap and a smoothie. Will never be back. read more
