Pretty disappointed w this place. Been out of Cali for 12 years and sorely missing these types of places. Astroburger was recommended... I got the chili-cheeseburger. Very bland meat, boring chili, and drab bun. This was a huge bummer. Decent chili can easily save a bland burger, but this simply doubled down on the disappointment. My girl got the eggplant and veggie pita. Eggplant was undercooked and had to be cut w knife. Seasoning of all veggies was almost non existent. Couldn't even finish... Hoping that the hard to screw up fried zucchini could save the day... wrong. Texture and temp were great, but very bland flavor. Does this place even have seasoning? I have been coming here for years and the people are always nice, the food is good and the prices reasonable, so I was in shock the other day when I ordered a veggie burger, zucchini and shake and it was over $20! I know prices have gone up, but $20 for a basic fast food meal is too much. The burger had no onion or pickle and a tiny slice of tomato and a barely there schmear of mayo. The lettuce was fine. The shake was a full inch from the top of the cup! The zucchini was good and a normal serving. I did not get an itemized receipt, only my credit card receipt, so I have no idea what cost so much. I will be doing Burger King the next time I crave a veggie burger. This makes me sad because I have been a customer here for 20 years. read more

Love it. Wish the traffic didn't get so congested at the intersection of Melrose and Gower but that's not their fault. Cash only. They cook your food to order so the drive thru occasionally backs up, but today they were outside taking orders for the waiting cars. And since all I was getting was a brownie and a soda they told me just to park and brought my food out to me. All that was missing was the roller skates! Greek specialties. Pumpkin milkshakes in the winter. Lots of vegetarian options. Open late. ATM inside. And their brownies. Love them! They are not some rich and gooey thousand calorie monstrosities. They are simple and the size of those brownie bites they sell in the grocery store. I think they only cost around fifty cents. I'm glad there's a fast food joint that has vegetarian options. I always order the garden burger deluxe, it's pretty tasty. My only complaint is that it was pretty salty the last time I ate here. However, the cheese and avocado in it really hits the spot. ORDER THE ZUCCHINI FRIES. They are surprisingly so good. I was shook, I might not ever get normal French fries here again. A bit pricey for the amount of food you receive but it did the job. I had a chicken breast sandwich and chili cheese fries. The chicken was moist, the veggies were crisp and the wheat bread was tasty. I highly recommend it. The chili cheese fries were pretty good but the chili kinda reminded me of Chef Boyardee's "meat" filling in their canned ravioli. Not a fan. Soda was relatively pricey but at least they offer free refills. I will come back someday soon to try out their burgers. read more

Every time I come here I ordered the same thing and it's always a different price. I don't want to monitor what I am paying for everytime I order the same thing. And just now to top it all off they gave me my food and made me sit behind a car who ordered more food at the payment window. I asked them to have the customer pull around so I don't have to keep sitting here waisting my time. I really wanted to like it! There are so many places in LA to eat and I feel like we blew it coming here as I was not feeling well after we ate. I am not sure if it was the hamburger or the zucchini fries. Both tasted ok, nothing mind blowing but I will never go back to the Melrose location, just because of how my gut treated me for 48 hours afterwards. We ate here because we were very hungry and due to location. It was close to our venue that had just let out. The service at the counter was ok, The wait time for the food was ok although sides did not come out at the same time as the burgers. But, what I will remember most is how filthy dirty the place was. Not old-dirty. I get it, the linoleum tables and floors are likely the originals from many years gone by but simple sweeping and wiping things down should not be that hard. It was 330pm and not at all busy. The long black hairs in the wide cracks visible in the booth seats was just too much. Do not ask me about the restroom, either! I don't know that I would've tried their breakfast burrito had it not been listed on one of those best of LA's breakfast burrito lists. But, it's a good thing because it's now one of my favorites! The BREAKFAST BURRITO comes with egg, hash brown, and a choice of bacon, ham or sausage. Have them add hot sauce. You can add cheese too for extra. Their burrito is surprisingly not greasy. The eggs are scrambled well, there are hash browns, like how they do them at Lucky Boy's, and and the bacon is crispy. The hot sauce adds just a bit of a kick. It's a simple but well executed breakfast burrito. Breakfast runs from 7-11:30 am on Monday-Friday, 7 am - 1 pm on Saturday, and 9 am - 1 pm on Sunday. I've only been here on the weekend, usually after hiking at the Hollywood Reservoir, and I always find street parking on Gower, but there is a small private parking lot and a drive-thru too. read more

I ordered it with the Veganaise too since I was feeling rather daring and it was so tasty. Of course I also drenched the sum'bitch with ketchup, lots of mustard and CHEESE CHEESE CHEESE, but for what it was worth, I didn't....oh do I dare say this aloud...miss the meat. Didn't have anything to eat all day and I was due to watch a screening on the lot across the street and I didn't want to watch it with an empty stomach. The menu was all over the place. It's one of those establishments that feels the need to get the cook book out and try their hand at just about everything. Prices are a bit steeper than what you would find at your typical fast food, but come to be what you expect them to without the massive purchasing power. . And while the place could use a little bit of a makeover to get that grimy feel and look polished out of there, you're not really here for the looks. You're here because you're hungry. Their burger surprised me. I wasn't expecting it to be so juicy and flow well together. I've had my share of charbroiled burgers in the past and this one was really up there in how well it came together. What started out as a utility burger became one that, while a bit pricey for a cheese burger going for around $4, was really well made and executed greatly. I normally don't do the fast food thing (unless in a drunken stupor), so this is the closest thing I'll have to fast food although it is not really fast food and SO MUCH BETTER. They have these dino-sized quesadillas, grilled and stuffed with juicy marinated chicken (or steak depending on your preference), chopped tomatoes, onions, avocados, and tons of cheese. Uhhh...give me a second while I wipe my drool. Anyway, when I'm not feelin too meaty, I go for the Gardenburger Deluxe. Topped with cheddar and avocado, it's the best veggie burger I've ever had. This is a local, independently-owned & operated business on Melrose in Hollywood that uses real ingredients instead of chicken butts like McDonalds. I dislike spending money, but really don't mind the prices here. How's the staff? They aren't overly friendly, but they aren't rude by any means. Every time I hit the drive thru & forget to ask for ketchup, I'm pleased to find that the employee has packed it in the bag along with salt, extra napkins & straw for my drink. I have been driving by this place my whole life and never realized how vegetarian friendly it is (or maybe when I was younger it wasn't). They have an ENORMOUS vegetarian and vegan menu, so much so that I always have a hard time deciding what to order. Last time I had a vegan BLT, yum. It's a great place to eat for a quick bite on the way to somewhere else, as it's definitely a Greek diner like the kind you see in the movies, half greek food, half fast-food diner food. I've been here with non-vegetarians, and they liked their din din too. The only downside is that if you're looking to have a nice sit down dinner, Astroburger isn't the place for you. Drive thru didn't have a big line, maybe like a 5-6min wait definitely under 10 but don't let thay fool you. Its worth it! Got 1 astro burger I dbl astro burger Zucchini fries (sm Onion rings (sm Chilli cheese fries And 2 large cokes. $30.90 It smelled amazing !! Couldn't wait to get home had a few zucchini fries! Not what I expected. Even better!!! The food is fresh and not heavy Nothing was greasy and the drinks had crushed ice Burger had shredded lettuce. I enjoyed my food to say the least, and would definitely go for the zucchini fries and a coke alone. And the customer service was GREAT!. I just recently went here a couple days ago because my boyfriend and i's friends brought us to his joint. They have an extensive veggie menu which is awesome. Fast food never really caters to that except when they throw in the veggie burger which to be quite honest really freaks me out. it looks like vomit rounded into a patty. Anyways, I got their veggie burrito which was really, really good and not expensive at all. My boyfriend ordered a tuna melt and thoroughly enjoyed his meal as well. We spent about 10 bucks between us both. Bonus: During the holiday they have a Pumpkin shake which taste exactly like pumpkin pie in shake form and it is so delish. I couldn't get enough.
