I came here to try the biscuits. When you come in you walk to the counter and find a menu to order. Their big plug is everything is locally sourced. This is too expensive to have no flavor what so ever. Even the gravy just seemed like colored water on top a biscuit. No flavor no spices at all. Once you get your food, you do everything yourself the staff doesn't offer refills or even ask how everything is. The "Gone' South" biscuit sandwich is everything you want in comfort food, fried chicken, cold pimento cheese that melts perfectly against the warm fluffy biscuit, rich, savory gravy, and crispy bacon. Absolute perfection. All the jams were delicious too, our favorite was the sweet potato chai. The owner was so sweet and asked for our honest feedback as she is still working out the menu. Got the Go'in Southern recently, and was so disappointed by what sounded ridiculously good. The biscuit was dry and bland, and the gravy was equally as bland... like straight up flour and water. The fried chicken was decent, and the bites with pimento cheese were alright, but few and far between. First time to Atomic Biscuit. A very busy place. You order at the counter and they will bring foods to your table. The staff is very friendly and cheerful. Our orders were not as warm (hot) as I would expected but still tasty. One big favorite were the good sized biscuits. There is a help yourself Jam Bar with choice of jams. We tried the Spice Cake Latte, a unique and interesting treat. I found the place a bit too crowded as I accidentally bumped into other customers chairs. Highly highly recommend this new, local breakfast and brunch restaurant. We were walking around the neighborhood and saw this spot had just opened this week. The interior is very bright and welcoming accompanied by outdoor seating for the warmer months. We ordered a french toast biscuit and the Gone South and were blown away by both. The fried chicken and pimento cheese on the Gone South had great flavor and combination of textures. The jam bar lets you sample many varieties of fresh and unique jams. The biscuits were the only thing good about this place. My husband ordered the Go Atomic Omelette which was so underwhelming. It had way too many tomatoes and almost no cheese. My daughter got the Big Red and loved it. I got a Keepin It Classy and it was just blah. The sides were got were the home fries. They were dry and salty. I went to the counter to order a side of gravy but there was no one behind the counter for me to order. So the service wasn't good. I had the chicken and waffles and I liked it actually. the syrus was not too sweet that is why I liked it. The waffle tho felt a bit short compared to the amount of chicken cause I still had more chicken but I ate all the waffle already (not a bad thing tho). I also had the Lavender Vanilla Latte and it is not bad. The staff who assisted me was actually very kind and helpful. Place was clean and had a lot of space. I was not impressed! First of all we had to clean off our table. Someone brought out the food but she couldn't take the dishes back with her? Second the menu said the biscuits were smoothered (sic) I think they meant smothered. But there was barely enough to cover 1 biscuit. When I asked for additional gravy I was told it would be an extra charge. The biscuits were ok not stellar. If your name has biscuits in it they should be great. They were super dry and no flavor. My son commented McDonald's biscuits are better. We saw all the great reviews and thought it would be a good try. I don't think I would go back anytime soon. A few other issues. I had to carry the plates from the previous diners and then get my own refills and silverware. When I ordered our food the POS required me to leave a tip. When I asked why I would leave a tip prior to any service? The cashier replied surly why would you not want to leave a tip? So now I paid $15 for dry biscuits plus a minimum 15% extra to under performing employees. Normally I would not be so negative but it was not great. Everything could improve here. - The line inside crowding the tables was super annoying. - People cramming in there waiting for a seat. The tables say they're reserved only for guests with a number sitting at the table, but that didn't stop the greedy guests standing in line from saving a table for themselves with jackets and personal items while those with numbers stood and waited. - The wait for our food was an hour. As we waited and observed other tables we noticed that every single table had half their food and they all sat waiting for the rest of their parties food and it wasn't like a few minutes, the table behind us got half their food and waited 20 minutes for the rest of it. The couple next to us got a waffle, 10 minutes later he got his side of potatoes and then by the time he was finished, his partners food came out. Our food finally came and it was cold! All the way through cold. Why? Why was it cold after we waited an hour for it? I was still giving you benefit of the doubt thinking everything was made from scratch. But it seems as if it was just assembled and brought out. $8.00 for a small cup of mediocre orange juice $15.00 for a cold, hard, dry biscuit topped with microwave bacon and bland gravy. 18% automatic tip for who? Another super solid brunch option for SLC. Three of us had 3 different dishes from benedict's, waffles and chicken n biscuits. All were well prepared, tasty and served by friendly staff. Our order had a couple of mistakes that were quickly remedied by who I am assuming is the owner. We are all looking forward to returning to try other dishes. Every time I go to a new city one of the first things I try to do is find their best biscuit restaurant. We stumbled upon this place and cancelled our upcoming brunch plans. First of all, the owner is an amazing person. She was friendly, accommodating and helped guide us through the menu based on our preferences. She had me at jam mimosas. Yes, mimosas made with the best strawberry jam I've had in my life. They have other flavors too. Fluffy, crumbly biscuits, the most perfectly poached eggs I've ever had at a restaurant on the spring formal benedict and the banana caramel pecan waffle was incredible. They have a order at the counter and they bring it to your table kind of service, but it was too small and crowded for this type of restaurant. We ended up waiting 20 or so minutes for a table to open then placed our order. There was no where really to wait except for 2 chairs at the entrance and this made waiting awkward. They were calling out drink orders for people to come and get them and no one could really hear them because of how busy it was. I understand more restaurants are moving to this model to cut expenses and have less staff, but it just made it more frustrating than having a nice local diner experience. The restaurant that was at this location before switched to this kind of service and that's why we stopped patronizing them. I doubt we'll ever go back, even though the food was really really good. read more

Luckily we came early enough that we had our choice of tables but even still we had a hard time because the heater was blowing so hard in certain spots. Once we were there for a little while the place began to fill up and the order at the counter setup became a cluster. I had the breakfast plate and the scrambled eggs were way over done and everything, including my fruit cup, was covered in parsley. Biscuit was very plain, cold, and flavorless. My husband had a scramble and he described it as something he could have made at a hotel breakfast bar. The highlight of the whole meal was the jam from the biscuit bar. Then of course they wanted a tip with no service. I was told the gal at the counter was working on her first day. If that is so, why was she left alone to make it worse? No. Extremely disappointment I spent $26 on this. the mark up on this with the ingredients used has to be insane. The ingredients are so basic and so obviously not high quality, that they must be raking in profit on a $18 breakfast. With those ingredients I'd expect it to cost $8 for a plate of biscuits and gravy. Lumps of flour throughout the gravy. I can tell the potatoes and biscuits are just from frozen. Especially if you advertise good quality, southern, cat head biscuits, you should probably make them in house. It was all so bland! I'm talking, NO flavor or seasonings. Just didn't taste good at all. I ordered a latte and watched the barista pull shots and then walk away. I stood there a while before he came back to the counter. Then when I asked if I could get fresh shots pulled, he tried to tell me they were fresh, but I was standing there the whole time and knew exactly how long they had been sitting. Not about to spend $5 on a coffee with bitter old shots in it. Yea it was quick, but it wasn't cheap and it wasn't good. Usually places have a mix of at least two of those three things, this was just quick. nothing else. The shop itself did not smell appealing. Like they needed to clean a bathroom. I don't know.
