I came here looking for a stereo install, the 90 day pay option encouraged me to do so. I was very adamant that I could not put money down, but they told me I needed to put a card on file but no funds will come out. Soon as they put it on file $50 came out of my account. The salesmen also told me it will only be $60 to $80 every 2 weeks to pay in full for the 90 day option... wrong! When I got the lease agreement, it was $94 bi weekly for 27 months and $330 a month to pay it in 90 days. They also told me they were installing same day, they took my truck to the back and an hour later I came back and my truck was sitting out front and they said they could not do it that day. Went to return the stereo and they don't do returns. I will probably go to another location or another business. Worst experience ever read more

Very bad service from requesting a quote through the website (Never received a follow up) to actually going to this location on Chandler Blvd. WOW!!!! I walked in and the guy said good morning,, I walked up to the counter and showed him a pic of my wife's car stereo, I said I want to upgrade to a stereo with Bluetooth, he looked at the pic and said there is nothing they can do, I was kinda shocked, being at a specialty store for car stereos, I questioned him and he then said ,oh I we can install a stereo but your entire dash will. Eed to be re-fabricated and all rewired.... What????..... He seemed like he wanted to just get rid of me, not even try to go over what needs to be done, he then said it will be to expensive for me...... Yeah I wasn't dressed to impress, gym clothes but he was judging me, I felt..... hope he watched me get into my new Lincoln Navigator... lol. Preface:: I used this Audio Express location earlier in 2016. I wanted to give a few months of using my new audio equipment before actually reviewing immediately from installation. I received 4 new Pioneer speakers for my 2009 Scion xD for Christmas 2015, purchased from Crutchfield. It was some time before I was able to set aside time and learn how to self-install them... trust me it took some time for someone who's not particularly hands-on for anything car-related. Around the same time I began looking into purchasing a sub-woofer to amplify the new sound. Since I was/am not terribly familiar with a lot of places in the Valley still, I went with Audio Express since their radio ads are EVERYWHERE. I went to their website and asked for a quote based on my car & price range. Jake [the manager] got back with me fairly quickly via email with a lot of options. Based on our email conversation I decided to wait a few weeks to bring it in for the JBL sub option I picked, until their busy season died down [no problem for me, I wasn't in a rush]. I also asked them to check the tuning on the speakers I installed. Jake said that wouldn't be an issue, but never did he bring up an additional cost to do that. So the day of I drive up for my installation and Jake is not there, but another floor sales guy was who was quite helpful. He did mention it would be an additional cost to the sub installation for checking the speakers.. about $40 more. I never felt like they were trying to jip me of more money since I had the firm quote in hand and compared to the total cost of my purchase, $40 was worth it since I did the install myself. I only left my car there for a few hours before I got a call letting me know the work was done. Afterwards, one of the service techs went out with me to my car to show me how to use the sub and settings my Pioneer speakers needed to work properly. Months later, and my sound system STILL is amazing. I love turning up the sub and making the seats shake! I think as long as Yelpers know what they want and are willing to pay the cost [since audio upgrades are not cheap], then there should be no issues with Audio Express. read more

I grew up listening to Audio Express commercials in West Texas so when the stock unit in my 2005 CRV stopped functioning I thought of Audio Express. I stopped in to see what their total price including installation would be compared to Best Buy. By the end of the deal, they came in $20 cheaper than Best Buy on the unit and $400 later I was promised that my steering wheel controls would be mapped and I would be enjoying my new system in a couple of hours. Upon picking up the vehicle and doing some due diligence after the demo, it was clear that the channel/track advance button wasn't working. The volume and mode (which cycles through Tuner, Blue Tooth, CD, Aux) were working just fine. I quickly pointed it out to the rep that helped me and he said they'd promptly take a look if I could leave it with them for a few more hours. Upon returning, the track button and volume was working but the Mode was no longer working. Pressing it displayed ATT. I once again showed the rep that we had made one step forward to steps back. His initial response was that they do their best to match up the buttons to the commands but that sometimes programming is really hard. Of course, I didn't accept this excuse as I had just paid an extra $200 in parts and labor for this steering control module that I had been promised was the best in the business. The rep offered to take another look but at this point, I'd burned enough hours in the day and we agreed that I'd come back. I did. Leaving the car for the third time in a week, I got a call from the rep indicating that the technician had tried everything under the sun, searched the web, and just couldn't get this module to work. He informed me that there was an even better module that he'd have to order and guaranteed it would work but it would take a few days to come in. During this time, completely accidentally, I learned that the Mode button was working and that if I hold the track/channel button down for two seconds it works! Another nit was that while the Mode button was cycling through Tuner, Aux, BT and CD, it would not deep cycle through Tuner into the bands. So I waited four days and no one called so I called in and was informed that the rep was out with an injury but he had the module at his home. Another three days later no call, so I called again and was told the module was here and I could come in to to have it installed.I informed anoter rep (because my rep wasn't there) that the unit was actually working OK but the channel/track thing and the Mode not cycling bands was annoying but livable. He told me that the new module should work perfectly and recommended they put it in. Fine. Would you believe if I told you that Mode no longer worked for Blue Tooth?! I call the shop and let them know that after 4 trips this still isn't working. The rep tells me that Blue Tooth just might not work. What? I told him that it worked just fine with the other unit and that the issue was the two second hold for tracks and that Mode didn't cycle bands. He tells me that if that's the case, he can just put the other module back in. Another two trips there and back and more time lost, the old module is back in the car and working as expected. I drive off, hoping to never have to return and to my shock find that the trim that is part of the 3rd party conversion kit for the new unit has been cracked, likely from pulling the unit in and out so many times. Worse, the tech apparently tried to cover it up by coloring the strained plastic surrounding the crack with a black marker. The next day I return to point out the issue. The trim is installed so poorly that you can see the cut lines into the enclosure exposed at the top. After a 2nd adjustment, you can see a 3 mm gap on the left of the trim with a clear view into the guts of the unit! A few observations before I close: 1. I intentionally didn't name the reps I worked with because I believe they are generally nice guys and are just trying to do their jobs. 2. It is clear that there is a management problem at this store and perhaps the chain in general. After 7+ trips back and forth, you would think that their CRM would prompt management that something isn't right. At best you have a customer sat issue brewing after 7 trips and at worst you are totally thrashing your reps and technicians. 3. Audio Express seems to really hold true to their service guarantee for which #2 is a symptom. The problem is that they seem so focused on the process of upholding the guarantee that no one stopped to think outside the box and actually SOLVE MY PROBLEM. It's like a hamster on a hamster wheel that keeps spinning but never actually moves an inch. He's active, he's moving but nothing's happening. 4. At no time, not even once did I get an apology. Not a sorry for my time away from work and my weekend. Not a sorry for making several trips, not a sorry for breaking the trim and trying to cover it up. I have an old car, a '91 Volvo, and one of it's redeeming factors is the bitching stereo system. Unfortunately, somebody swiped it out of my vehicle and left a big hole in the dash board. Thinking this was going to be an easy replacement I went and bought a new system which was a nearly identical model and thought I could just plug the wires into the new one. Not so as the thieves took the harness as well and now I was at a loss. I called up Audio Express on Chandler Blvd. near my home and picked the store's manager, Jacob's, brain and he said to come by and he would take a look at it. Later that day I stopped by the store. Mind you this was 2 weeks before Christmas and I knew Jacob was busy but he took the time to look at my stereo and the hole in my dash board, tell me what part I needed, what OTHER retailer I could order it from and some tips on how to install it properly. Considering that I didn't actually buy anything at his store and that it was 2 weeks before Christmas I felt Jacob exhibited exceptional devotion to the industry and to customer service. read more

It's surprising to read the very uneven reviews of this location, as my experience was top notch. Granted, I'm not an audio expert but a regular person who likes a better sound quality and drives an older car. Had an initial phone consult, and scheduled an install within a week at my convenience. They were done earlier than predicted and took time to help me set up the new system and understand features. Overall though, the energy was incredibly positive. I felt respected and understood as a customer, and Scottie in particular went out of his way to make sure I was getting the best transition possible from old to new system. I came in on a Wednesday the guy who helped me had alcohol on his breathe so bad. He made Me an appointment for friday 9am & said the car would be ready within 5 hours. I called at 11 to get estimate I was told the car wasn't even touched!!! BEWARE! Bait & Switch! I looked online at their weekly ad and came in to buy the special for my son. Buried deep in the fine print (that is not legible online - too fuzzy) is that the Home of the $1 Install, charges $55 to install it.. and of course the harness and extras drove the price from $229+tax to $361!!!! Then, the "free back up camera with install" turned in to an extra $55 on top of that! Well over $400 in fine print. When I decided to walk out I got the standard "you'll never beat our price.." Guess what, I did! On the EXACT SAME UNIT! I beat it by a long shot at a mom and pop store! They pressure you to upgrade at least 3 times on every step. Every time you turn around, they write you up and try to add on more. They act like they've never had to look for a harness. They are so clueless, the guy told me they didn't have a $229 special, yet he was facing the display. I think the "real price" was north of $440 if I recall. They gouge so hard, they offer financing which, if you know retail financing, is a way to get paid faster by discount points to the bank... so much fluff here, I cannot tell you. I had just purchased a new Mini Paceman and wanted to beef up the bass. I drove over to Audio Express just to see what my options were. I was quickly introduced to Reuben, who followed me to my car and got a feel for what I wanted. We spent about an hour inside the shop going over my options and looking at numbers. Reuben was very clear on what I was getting and for what cost. I never felt like I was being sideswiped or cheated. I spent a few hours at the bar next door while the installers went to work. They did a fantastic job, mounting the amp right where I wanted. Everything looked extremely professional and didn't impact the look and feel of my new car at all. I drove home a happy guy until I realized the bass had stopped bumping. I called up Reuben the next day, brought the car back in for inspection and we guessed that a faulty amp was to blame. Sure enough, within a quick minute they had replaced the amp and my beats were thumping once again. I just got a follow-up phone call from Reuben, wanting to make sure I was still happy with everything. I think that is fantastic customer service. I took my car to get a new stereo installed decide to change it and get another one I had my brother switch out the stereos when we took the stereo out there was broken clips there was a hole drilled that didn't have anything running threw it. I have to say the initial buying experience was not that bad but the sales clerk was not fantastic as he didn't really offer much knowledge about the product beyond my questions. The fact they offered a military discount was nice and they did thank me for my service but that's about where any kind of customer appreciation ended. I purchased a JVC Receiver, Sirius Tuner and back up camera and settled on getting it installed Friday. The sales clerk did mention at the time it would take 2 hours to install. On Friday I dropped off the vehicle and there was no mention of timing as I said I would be a few hours and then return. It was more than 3 hours as work took longer than I thought. I called to inquire if my vehicle was ready around 2:30 and they said it would be another hour and a half. This made for a very long day for me since I started at 5am but I waited until they called 1 hour and a half later, really? When I arrived there were 2 gentlemen at the cash register on the left researching something, one who was the there the first day and who thanked me for my service was there. At the time of purchase he really hoped I would leave a review. As per his instructions here it is. I personally will never use Audio Express again and below are the details. As I waited until the sales clerk that took my order recognized me and proceeded to just hand over my keys. No explanation, no serial numbers or manuals as to how to operate the system and nothing pertaining to the Sirius refund plus 3 months of a free subscription for buying the tuner. A quality organization would have led me to the vehicle and explained everything about the system plus ensure that everything was functional but not here. Just give my keys and say nothing, I was totally aghast at that point, tired though. I did get to ask one thing and that was did they put the Receiver USB where I wanted, he said they did. I had other questions I needed answered and he was busy helping another customer. Would have been nice to tell me that and let me know to wait until he was done or something. Someone did answer my question as to the manuals and stuff and told me that I would find it in the vehicle. I went out to the vehicle and wow, there were the boxes all strewn about. To my surprise there was another JVC box in the back seat for the Receiver so I had 2 of them, wonder who didn't get theirs? With 2 boxes comes 2 serial numbers so how do I register that for warranty. I was pretty upset at that point and did not see anything in the mess regarding the rebate for the Sirius. I went back inside and someone gave me a flyer but did I really have to ask, still tired so still biting my tongue. Not really something I do well. I paid good one for this system plus the installation fees which were many. I expected better service than what I was getting. It was almost 5 at this point so I headed home because it was now a 10 hour day. As I was driving away I started to hear a rattle which seemed to be coming from the wheel well but I was not sure. I pulled over and rearranged the scattered material they had thrown in my vehicle and to my surprised I noticed the dash had not been seated properly. Thought I found the rattle so I snapped it back in and started to drive off. As I got back in I noticed the dust all over the dash and fingerprints on the front windshield. Biting my tongue I could not even tell you what I was thinking at this point. At least when you get an oil change they take better care than this outfit. I headed back to Audio Express as the noise of something flapping was still there. About a block before I made it back the noise stopped so I guess whatever it was fell off. Great, part of my vehicle or some trash they left when they were working on it, who knows but I do fell I need to have it checked out because I am not confident the job they did of routing cables to the trunk were or are properly secured. To top it off they did not put the USB cable where I wanted, probably because it was too thick. I did offer the clerk to come out and look but he declined. If he had real knowledge of the product he would have known by looking at it that it would not fit there and could have offered another location then just dangling from the dash. What a quality shop. Jesus and the Audio Express team lived up to all their other internet reviews out there. I know these guys have been around for decades and have a reputation for fair pricing and integrity. I also know they can do the really high-end stuff. However, I had a real challenge for them today. My son's first car! it's a beat up looking 22 year old faded, er 'classic' he bought himself. He's been driving over a month with no radio. We were even a little reluctant to drive it in next to the sports cars, muscle cars, and SUV's in the parking lot, but we did. Best decision we could have made! We were in and out the same day, the price was right and my son is ecstatic. It sounds great, they kept it affordable and Jesus even showed us how to use all the features, Now we all want to drive his old car! The temptation these days is to cheap-out, save a couple of dollars, and buy it online. What's your time worth? You can easily blow a weekend figuring it out, installing it, and reading through all the instructions. Or you can leave it to the professionals and spend your time enjoying your new system. This place is the WORST customer device ever !!! If you have an "appointment" you will be very disappointed as they are not timely at all !!! They say to drop off will take an hour or two , it takes all day !!' You can't plan anything and they do not communicate the actual time. First off Staff is totally cool. I have no problem with any of them. What I don't appreciate is a 325.00 additional charge for a 199.00 special. I think it's false advertising and extremely shady to offer something basic knowing there will be addons. I wanted the 12' sub+amp for 199.00. Lets ad the RCA cables that have to come with the install, the converter that must come with the install and the labor for 325.00. It's like charging 2.00 for a dozen donuts but charging an additional 1.00 for the box and .50 for the glue that holds the box closed. Just sell it for 3.50. My wifes Brand New car is sitting at the dealership with a frayed main electrical harness and I am being quoted $3500+ to fix it because some anti genius decided it'd be a good idea to cut into the main harness. Now my AC is Dead the electronic braking system has failed. Even Prior to this after the initial install there was issues from day one. Audio Express is not what it used to be and or what this place claims to be. I paid for a very nice system to be installed in my wife's brand new car and only half of it works correctly. Went in spent $1300 on a new subwoofer set up. Got the car back install was REALLY SLOPPY. My back seat was left undone. The system ended up pulling too many amps from the battery and alternator had to replace both still didn't work right. Returned the system now I don't even have sound coming out of my stock speakers. Took the car back spoke with the manager he said it's my problem now since his system is no longer in the car. Everything in my car worked until I took it into them. The manager told me to take my car into the dealer and have them diagnose it. I had just referred them business. I quickly changed that referral. DONT TAKE YOUR CAR THERE. Used this location in October and wanted to wait to write a review. I got a JL audio 12 inch pre Amped box installed and asked it to be mounted and have a extra amp cut off switch which they contested the need for the extra cut off but I know my stereos and how I want to run my car. So! Here's what happened. I first left and realized they didn't mount the box as asked even after Jesus BEGGED ME to get the job and install there rather than at the Scottsdale location which I had planned. I went to this location just to look at prices and got talked into it. Jesus tried to force me to get the jl audio 12 and amp separate but I stuck To my guns even tho he was rude as hell. So I get the box 4 hours later installed after it sat for 90 Minutes after no one called to say it was done and when I got home noticed the box was NOT MOUNTED. This means that the box slid all back and forth in my trunk as I was driving. I drive for Lyft and Uber. Another reason why I told him I wanted a Pre amp box to easily remove if needed. So when I got home. I noticed the sub stopped working. Upon looking at it, the rcas SNAPPED off into the box cause they didn't mount it and it hit the sidewall. So I have been paying for abox that now sits in my garage unused till I fix it and re run new rca wires myself. I should have stuck to my instincts and done the installation myself! Thankfully I asked for the extra cut off switch so I don't have to worry now about live wires just hanging in my trunk! Stupid location , rude, lack of follow thru and they just want money. Went in there a few weeks ago and thought I knew what I wanted but after explaining to Jesus what I like and what I was looking to get he helped point me in the right direction and ended up hooking me up with a JL audio system nestled perfectly behind the seat in my 19 Tacoma, but that was a whole month ago and I traded it in, not only did they get me in fast, they took great care of me AGAIN to remove and I will be back next week to get the system put back in to my new truck and maybe add some more goodies. Went in with high hopes after reading reviews of friendly service and hassle free sales. Definitely not the case. First question that was asked was how much am I trying to spend....I gave an amount..500-600 for a sub, I even advised I have my own and asked what I would need to install it. (Outside material install is not allowed, understandable) instead of giving me direction and offering products to sale me to install myself that was completely ignored. His response to my 500-600 was basically a laugh in my face and said it would be a minimum of 800-900 "just to throw some bass in your vehicle" I scoffed and said we'll I was told just a few weeks ago over the phone 500-600. He then proceeded to help someone else. Finally he was able to talk to me rather then try to sale me what he thought was best for his pocket. We came to a "quote" of 500 and some change. Hmmm interesting...clearly there as a way to put bass in my truck.below your 800-1000. rather then listening to the customer on what their needs are. And making a sale. I walked away without purchasing solely based off this experience. I was ready to buy a full system...subs, door speakers, new dash kit and all. You guys lost a big sale today. read more

On 4/23/13, I purchased a car stereo from the Chandler location. Since I had other obligations to fulfill, Luis assured me I could return to the store at a later time to do a walkthrough of the system and set up the display. I returned to the store on 4/25 since system was not installed correctly. Pat rudely addressed my friend for stating the errors and refused to acknowledge incorrect installation. After several minutes, Pat came out and looked at the system. He said to come back at 4:00 and the problem would be solved. I returned to the store at 4:00 p.m. Pat was waiting on a customer and ignored my presence in the store. After waiting for several minutes, I asked if someone could assist me with retrieving my vehicle and setting the clock on the display. Pat rudely replied, "We don't do that here." Words were exchanged and I asked Pat if I could speak to the manager. Pat stated he was the store manager and shouted to get out of his store, embedding an expletive in his statement. He then threw the key to my vehicle towards my face. Jake, the store manager, told Pat to go to another area of the store. Jake worked to resolve my issue and was very helpful. Jake stated he had no control over hiring. Jake was very helpful and I commend his customer service. However, it is unacceptable to be treated in a rude manner on any sales floor. I called to make an appointment to check my review camera that is not working,, installed by Audio Express, I spoke with someone and made a appointment for Friday at 11:00 when I hung up I realized that i didnt give my name so I called back and someone else answered the phone I explained that I had just spoken with someone and forgot to leave my name, he tells me they don't take appointments unless they are paid for in advance. Needless to say I will never do business with them again, come on people teach your employees customer service!! and what a stupid rule to pay for an appointment in advance. what a waist if time and money! read more

This is the 2nd time I have upgraded my audio system at this location, and each time has been a really good experience. This time around, Jesus and Jacob were very attentive, helpful, and invited me to stop in if I ever have any issues, or questions about my system, which sounds great! The installation was done on time, and they assisted me with syncing my phone with Bluetooth and streaming music services. Thanks guys! read more

*READ BEFORE EVEN CONSIDERING AUDIO EXPRESS* I recently called in with a couple of questions regarding purchasing a deck with a 7" touch screen monitor. All of the other 1 star reviews are dead on! The gentleman who answered who's name was Brian, made me feel quite stupid and spoke as if he would rather be doing anything else other than speaking to a potential customer about a purchase. I actually found myself saying "sorry" multiple times for asking simple questions because of how irritated his short responses were. The call ended shorty after and I walked away from the conversation confused and ended up purchasing the deck elsewhere. Then today, I made a huge mistake by calling back again hoping that the experience would be different. It wasn't! I did this because the business is literally blocks away from my house and would of been extremely convenient to purchase something from there. When I called I got the same person "Brian" who answered the phone (lucky me). This time I was calling about my alarm system and was interested in getting a new keyless remote and wanted to know what my options were. Once again, Brian was a complete jerk and made me feel like an idiot for asking anything. He must be a really important person, because he would rather be doing ANYTHING else other than talking to customers who would have literally drove down there right then and there to purchased at least $400.00 worth of items on the spot. I would never even consider being a customer to this business ever again, and will make sure that my girlfriend who just bought a new car (2016 Jeep Patriot) last week and is looking for electronics finds a friendly and capable business to buy from. I highly recommend you go somewhere elsewhere because I promise you, you will regret it if you go here. I have 75k + followers between Twitter / Instagram / vine, and will be sure to let everyone know my experience with Audio Express in hopes to prevent anyone else from making the same mistake I made. I would never slander a business, but me being completely honest is more than enough for people to get the idea. Thank god I didn't go through with purchasing anything, I can only imagine how the rest of the the business is run, or if God forbid there was an issue with something and had to speak to customer care, I'm sure they would tell me I'm "shit out of luck". We have an old Isuzu that has oddball speakers, we asked for an installation that would allow us to use the original grills. They end up doing some really nice costume carpeting work to fill the speaker holes and use the Kenwood grills. They did a great job, my wife was happy and the sound is very good. It turned out to be a very nice Christmas present for her. And all of the old brackets are and covers are saved so they didn't tear up the door panels. Given all the options I think the guys took the best route and the were willing to pull everything out if we didn't like the result. read more
