We came here for lunch on July 4th after the cafe told us there was a brunch special here. There was eggs Benedict but we opted for their normal menu. I was nervous to have my 2 kids eat here because it seemed not that kid friendly but they surprised us and ate everything we ordered which really is a compliment to the chef there! My husband ordered the burger, which had a house made bread and also the restaurant group owns spruce (award winning burger spot in sf). The burger was really tasty with a strong mustard presence. Our waiter really sold us on the smashed potatoes. I was going to order fries but he said try these. And boy they were good. I think my 3 yo ate most of the plate! The flatbread pita was really warm and delicious. So was the cavetelli pasta. Both things I was a little worried about the spiciness but it wasn't! My kids also LOVED the prawns. I'm sad it only comes with 4 pieces. Overall our meal was $150 prior to tip so this was on the pricier side but what isn't lately. I really enjoyed the well thought out dishes. The flavors were simple and well done. My only thing I didn't like much were the oysters which I just think lemon and Tabasco is my go to. Anything more just masks the flavor too much. We had our ladies lunch here with our dog & cat, so, of course we sat outside. While it was windy, the heaters definitely helped. The ambiance of the place is calm and classy! As for food, we got the Flatbread and Green Salad to start with - the roasted tomato spread for the Flatbread was so good! For the main, we got the Burger, Salmon, and Clam Cavetelli. The fries for the burger were extra crispy as we requested but salted when we specifically asked for no salt. I'm super impressed! I'm strictly reviewing their bakery for now. Me and my family enjoyed a variety of pastries while sitting down inside the cafe. They have a nice assortment of pastries and serving fresh brewed coffee from Oakland. This place is bright and clean with lots of light inside the cafe. They also have additional outdoor seating. I'm a huge fan of their chocolate banana bread; it's moist and spongy with a nice chocolaty outer layer. Their salmon on rye toast is also great! The cream with the smoky salmon meat is perfect. I'm also a huge fan of their ham & cheese croissant but wish it had more of the filling inside. This is a great stop for goodies while strolling the row. My husband and I stopped by at Augustine early afternoon on Friday, May 22, 2026. We ordered the Salmon Tartar from the lunch menu (lunch menu is good until 3 pm), and then a few food and drink items from the Happy Hour menu (workdays, 3 to 6 pm) and ice cream for desert. All the food and drinks were delicious and the Happy Hour menu is especially great with the drinks (@Augustine: please do not change this!). Service was very friendly and professional and the manager stopped by asking how everything is going. To cut immediately to the chase, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Augustine. I plan to return -- hopefully soon. The ambiance and decor are elegant and modern - an upscale French bistro. We savored the creamy and briney caviar and rich cured egg yolk with the accompanying crispy potato chips. So good. Is there a better way to begin an outing with your bestie than with caviar? Then we lightened it up with the asparagus and pea salad, which light and fresh and perfectly dressed. Next, we had to try the crab donuts. There was no question when we saw the menu that this was a requisite dish for us. The crab donuts were crispy, with lots of crab flavor. In crab dishes such as this, the concern is whether the crab flavor will be masked by tons of bread filling. Not the case here. But if I had one critique it's probably that I wished there were more. They were tiny and bite sized. Fortunately, our server clued us into this when we ordered. The star of the show was the roasted branzino - with anchovies, capers, and chives. We both remarked that it was the best branzino we had ever had. This dish is not to be missed, particularly if you love sea bass. For dessert with went with the opera cake with salted caramel. We wanted to try one of their desserts because we saw servers walk by with a few and they looked incredible. The opera cake was good, but it didn't feel elevated. I probably would try a different dessert next time I visit. Overall, Augustine gets high marks from me. We had a fabulous time and really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. Last time I was in town we stopped by their bakery. This time we decided to try the restaurant for a birthday dinner. Had 6pm reservations and Santana Row was still pretty quiet when I arrived. It was packed when I left around 9pm. We sat outside which was nice. It was a warm evening. We just had to wait a bit for the sun to go down because it was directly in one of my friend's eyes. A few friends had burgers which they enjoyed. One had chicken and I had the vegetable salad and crab donuts. Both were good but not what I expected. The salad had a green spread (hummus consistency on the bottom) and green pickles strawberries. Everyone enjoyed their food. We hopped next door for a more lowkey dessert and tea. They took common dishes and just simply made them better. Starting with the smoked salmon tartine - the bread was fresh with the perfect crunch and softness. The salmon had a great bite, cream cheese was gooey, and each bite had a nice tang that made everything flow together. The quiche was packed with spinach and the Gruyère was absolutely delicious. The star of the stars was the mussels. It came with a generous amount and was sitting in the most amazing garlic white wine broth. I recommend using each mussel to scoop the broth to eat each mussel. You can also enjoy the toasted bread to dip into the sauce too. My wife and I ended up scooping out the remaining broth, it was that tasty! They have lovely patio seating (with heat lamps), along with swanky chic indoor in seating, and bar seating at their picturesque shiny bar. We started with the Crab Donuts, which seemed intriguing, and it was a creamy dollup of crab on top fluffy slightly savory donut holes. The Snap Pea and Asparagus salad was well worth a try as well. Loved all the different textures of the fresh snap peas, chopped asparagus, leafy greens, and hard boiled eggs. Perfect light but tangy dressing. Plenty of land and sea and vegetarian 'New American' style entrees. We shared the Mussels which was a generous portion, with artisanal sourdough to dip in the broth. Also had the Burger, which was pretty plain, I would pass on this for something else. Entrees are surprisingly reasonably price for being the new hip restaurant on the Row, running about $15-35 for most dishes. I'm more of a pescaratian though and the branzino was one of the pricier dishes at 49 Great spot for a celebration, hanging out with friends, or for a date. We dined here last Friday (5/16), but I forgot to "check in". This is an upscale, rather classy looking establishment. The obvious centerpiece of it is the large, U shaped bar. Overall, it is a bit too crowded from a dining aspect. On both sides of the bar along the walls, are 2 person tables that appear out of place. In the main dining area, the tables are very close to one another. I guess they are trying to use as much space as possible to maximize their ROI. Many say that service is key. This was the case here. Kudos to Chloe for her knowledge, friendly demeanor, and attention to detail. The same could be said about the supporting staff. Savory Dungeness Crab Donuts - AKA donut holes topped with crab. Tasty, though the donuts themselves were getting to be a bit too oily. Garden Vegetable Salad - Very good. Chloe did give us a "heads up" of the sweet peas being pureed and acting as the greens. It was a nice surprise and a good way to start off the meal. Veal and Swiss Chard Cannelloni - Definitely a "must try". Enough said. Grilled Flank Steak - Tasty but a bit tough/chewy. We have had flank steak at other restaurants that were more tender. Ratio of caviar to crème fraiche was good but still too much crème fraiche in my opinion. Chicken was also kind of weird, it was formed into these mozzarella stick shapes and with the size, it was pretty dry. Like why am I eating caviar with Burger King chicken fries? 2/5 Crispy Potatoes: Our server recommended this as a popular item and it was indeed the table favorite. But even then, there wasn't anything admirable about it. Your typically smashed potatoes and baked until crispy. Well seasoned and the red onion crème fraiche is what it sounds like. 4/5 French Toast: I have never seen a more sad looking french toast in my life. Presentation was so sloppy and boring that I wasn't sure if it was bc it's supposed to look like this or if it was bc they forgot our order and gave us fries instead. Would it have killed them to add a few berries? Either way, the french toast itself was very average but moist. 2/5 Croque Madame: Typically not a fan but they didn't do a bad job. Well seasoned and the caramelization of the onions was perfect. Each mouthful was hearty and good. 4/5 French Fries: Our server misheard when we ordered french toast and he was gracious and left us the fries. Pretty average, what you would expect fries to be. Aioli wasn't as garlic as i expected and a tad sweet? 3/5 Albacore Crudo: I was really excited to try the crudo but extremely disappointed. Fish was fresh but a slight fishy smell to it. Not the worst though. The sauce it was paired with just didn't made sense to me. It was overly thick, more pesto pasta sauce and kinda leaned away from the typical bright and citrus type sauces. 1/5 Fishermans Mussels: The mussels were really briney and pungent. Not sure why it was really briney like that but the sourdough bread that came with the dish was good. 1/5 Overall, would not recommend. The garlic aioli could have been more garlicky tho. S E R V I C E Veterans in the industry, service was very polished yet approachable with multiple managers checking in with each table. Empty plates were promptly whisked away, water glasses refilled, napkins folded when one leaves their seat, and staff guiding you to the restroom. Food service was very prompt (in/out in about an hour). A M B I A N C E Dark, moody indoor dining area with a large horseshoe shaped bar. Great for a hot date. This casual (but still very expensive) sibling to the Michelin-starred Village Pub and Selby's that just opened in Santana Row has a lot of hype, but it feels like a marketing coup rather than an innovation. Everything was great (I particularly loved the flatbread), but nothing stood out in the memorable way you'd hope. The lobster was wonderful but definitely not worth the price. The fries are good. So was the steak. But again, any restaurant can do these dishes. Given the talent in the kitchen, this could be so much more than it was. If you're reading this, you're already planning to go, and it's a good meal. But at the price point, why not just go to The Village Pub and be blown away? read more

I've been here twice and enjoyed both times. However, the second time, the food took a while to come out where all the tables around us were also asking the waiter multiple times. We got the butternut squash tart and the hand-rolled cavatelli and both were absolutely delicious. When dining in, you're also able to order from the cafe so I got a regular latte and it was good. I saw outside with my friend and the aesthetics of the place was nice. Our total came out to be a little over $80 after tax and tip. Definitely will come back. read more

Had to check out one of Santana Row's newest restaurant! We went for lunch and brought our little doggo so we sat outside. I love how big their outdoor seating area was and still felt closed off from the rest of the Row. Decoration and ambiance was very nice. Bf and I both got the burger which we thoroughly enjoyed. I like the small fries that was perfectly crunchy. I shared the grilled Baja shrimp. Shrimp was grilled perfectly and paired so well on top of the tartar sauce. Server was really nice and brought a water bowl for our doggo. I can't wait to come back to try dinner inside! read more

*This review is for the soft opening of their cafe only, not the restaurant. There's always new things popping up in Santana Row, and Augustine was a nice surprise. I happened to stop by during their soft opening and saw that it was already very popular with people sitting outside and a line forming inside. I decided to take a quick peek before deciding where to get my coffee this day and I'm glad I did. There was a sign on the door saying that you'd get a free treat today since they were still training staff, so I was sold. However, all of their baked goods and snacks were gone by the time I was able to place my order, so instead my drink was free. They were even nice enough to let me order another one to take home! I ordered an iced decaf vanilla latte and an iced matcha. I saw that some people got the option to choose the size of their drinks but they gave me the standard smaller size by default, which was fine. Drinks took a little while to make since there were so many orders and only one espresso machine making maybe 2 drinks at a time. The matcha was hand whisked which was nice to see. Overall, the drinks needed a little improvement but were fine for being free. If I had paid the $6-7 each, I'd probably ask them to remake the latte because it was way too sweet and I had asked for lightly sweetened. The matcha was good but could actually have been a little sweeter. Quality of both drinks were spot on though, so that's a win. I'll definitely be back and want to try their baked goods since the early reviews have all spoken highly of them. There are already a few great options for cafes at the Row, but I think Augustine will fit right in. read more

We had lunch on a Friday and really enjoyed our meal. We felt Augustine is one of the better restaurants at Santana Row now, and it's a good addition. Service was attentive and polite, and our dishes came out pretty quickly. We tried the duck cannelloni, mushroom tart, crab donuts, and dark chocolate mousse for dessert. My favorite was probably the mushroom tart but my husband liked the duck cannelloni. We would definitely return with friends! They have a beautiful patio which will be great when the weather gets warmer. I also stopped by the bakery last week and enjoyed the midnight chocolate cake.
