My husband and I returned to Austin Subaru. Not because we wanted to, but because they were the only Subaru dealership in Central Texas that took the Drive a Clean Machine Voucher. That and our truck probably wouldn't have made it any farther than Burnet. Anyway, we did return and were treated much better. We were greeted by Sunny, one of the General Managers, who handed us off to Keenan as our salesperson, and Jeremy who did our paperwork, both were great. We left the lot with the vehicle we wanted, and spent about four hours, which I consider a reasonable amount of time to purchase a car. Given a second chance, we're happy with the vehicle we got, and the service we eventually received. The first salesperson and manager seem to have been a fluke within Austin Subaru. read more

We had a really frustrating experience here. We went twice and walked in feeling ready to test drive and buy a new Forester, but could not get a single person to talk to us. There were tons of agents at their desks doing nothing, not seeing any customers, surfing the internet, some milling about with and without masks, making no effort to talk to anyone. We only saw a couple agents actually out in the parking lot, seeing the other customers there, and it was clear no one else there cared at all if they made a sale. Maybe they made their quota super early this month, but I would not recommend this place for buying a new Subaru. Go somewhere else. read more

After 3 calls: 2x put on hold for lengthy holds while they checked if a part for a recall was in, to only be hung up on while waiting on hold. 3rd call resulted in holding again for a lengthy time only to have the guy come back saying he couldn't get hold of a service advisor. That he'd send a message over to have someone in service call me back. uuhhh, what's the point of calling the service department if the service dept doesn't answer and some other person somewhere else is answering phone saying they'll check on if the part is in??? Just say from the get go that I'm not talking to the service dept. At this point I will have to get in my car and drive down to the dealership and see in person if they have the part or not so I can schedule an appt. Like I'm going to sit around and trust I get a call back?? No thanks and no, did not appreciate the brush off attitude from the guy answering the phone. Jeez. (better yet I'll see where the next closest subaru dealer is and drive there for the recall repair. I don't care if it a trip to Houston even) Update: In reponse to Genny H: I appreciate the concern you have expressed, nonetheless I have contacted Georgetown Subaru and made arrangements for the recall repair for my 2019 Outback right after hanging up w/ your service dept. I encourage you to refresh phone etiquette w/ your employees. It would have gone a long way to have had the person who first put me on hold to have called me back-she had my number. The second disconnect I don't fault them for not calling back as we hadn't gotten so far for them to have my #....as far as my third call, the guy sure could have saved his tone for someone other than myself. Just because you think you say the right things, tone conveys a lot. Knowing I was irritated due to long hold times and hang ups, his tone should have been more pleasant/apologetic and less condescending. It came across very clear that he did not care that I had been on hold for a long time, hung up on, and he was put out by having to talk to me. Gee, don't answer the phone then. Especially don't answer the phone line I call to schedule a service time when you aren't even prepared to do that. BTW, Georgetown Subaru response was a live person, no umpteen "press #..." to get to a department to finally talk to a live person, scheduling was a breeze & I sure won't mind the drive. read more

We just bought our first Subaru because of friends' extreme satisfaction with theirs and the high clearance we need. Our salesman, Jason Clark, was exemplary. He listened to what we wanted and helped us select and buy it with efficiency, calmness and zero pushiness. The paperwork process done with Jeremy Marty was also efficient and stress free. Because of concerns about being inside the showroom/offices during Covid, they accommodated us by conducting our business outside. We can't say enough good things about this dealership. Simply outstanding. Bought a 2017 CPO Legacy. Got a great deal and all of the staff was super nice. You can't find a better dealer to buy a Subaru in south central Texas. Steve Carter and the entire staff were courteous and professional. Price was great, dealer was upfront about everything. Even though it was busy day, everything went smoothly. Follow-up appt to install window tint and body side moldings went as planned on time. Nice loaner car made for minimum interruptions in my schedule. Service staff was professional and friendly. Our car was ready on time and received a great briefing on what to do and not to do with the tint film. The free espresso was a nice touch on a cool day. And, the car looks great. 1/15/2018 First time I have ever had training on a new car today. Masha Romanova did a great job explaining the intricacies of Eyesight and the infotainment system, Bluetooth and Sirius radio. Well worth the one hour. A tech also installed the door edge guards. I love Subaru, but man the service sucks! I went there to get a quote for my car ( I had a crash) and not only I waited an hour and half, no quote was given, they told me to go somewhere else! Witch is fine by me, but did I really had to wait an hour and a half to know that they don't do those services there? I called in advance and the girl on the phone just made me an appt and then the issue wasn't resolved ?! Argh! I purchased a 2022 Wrx from this dealer and for the most part it was a good experience. Though the car had been damaged during the shipping process and had damage on the interior side. The latter not being fixed before the sale to me. Took a month to get through this process and get the car repaired. Seems like long time to wait to have the "new car" I bought. As for service, this is where the rubber meets the road and boy did Austin Subaru drop the ball! I called them two weeks before the 6,000 mark for an oil change. At that point they told me that the oil filters for my car,were on back order and that I would need to schedule 3 weeks out. Which put me in the 7,000 mile mark rather than 6,000. So, three weeks later I show up for a scheduled appointment and no oil filters! They did not call to tell me that they had run out of oil filters. Or whatever, to say don't come in on a Sunday. They also made no apology nor a new service date. They also nearly sent me out low on oil, I had to ask if they checked. "Oh, hold on sir we will check real quick" are you f-ing kidding me!! Needless to say I found 6 oil filters OME Subaru on Amazon and I can get them in 24 hours. Come on Austin Subaru if I can somehow source them in less than two days. You should be able to at least get a few in hand too. That way you don't put anyone out with your poor communication skills. read more

This review is for the SERVICE department. On a Wednesday our Subaru had a problem that I hoped was going to be covered under our ext warranty, so I called up and made an appointment to get a loaner for the following Tuesday morning. Fast forward to Sunday and things were going quickly downhill with the car so I called them first thing on Monday asking for them to come get the car instead of me taking it there on my own (with my kids in tow) because I didn't feel safe driving it. A technician came out to my house that same morning to examine our car and take it back, and brought the loaner with him for us to use for the week--- I was prepared to beg for this to happen. Five star status achieved already! I was called and updated on the car's status by our point of contact person Will a few times throughout the repair process and he was always kind and returned our calls promptly. Quite a bit of work was done to the car during the time they had it and the bill was NOT pretty---but all was OK since it was covered under the ext warranty. So Five stars for that too! read more

With Austin Subaru service, be prepared to pay far more than you should. Here's a synopsis of my terrible experience with them. I brought my 2011 Outback in for a handful of items. I knew the cost was going to be high, but I was not at all prepared for the estimate I received. The service adviser emailed me a 9-page document that listed numerous items totaling as follows: Estimate Subtotal $7,131.95 Shop Fee $35.86 Tax $591.34 Estimate Total $7,759.15 As I said, I knew the cost would be high, but I was quite simply aghast at that amount. In my estimation, that is over 60% of the car's book value. As we were driving over to retrieve the car and take it elsewhere, my wife called the service adviser who clarified that the estimate actually listed several items multiple times, and the estimate was actually a menu of configurations we could choose. The estimate did not communicate this in any way, and it further confused matters by actually subtotaling all items and then charging tax to that amount. The service adviser clarified that our charge for selected items would be ~$5200 (with tax, over $5600). That is still almost 50% of the car's value. I took the car to Christian Brothers, whose diagnosis was identical to Austin Subaru's (excluding new tires). Christian Brothers charged only $2,233.37. Because I also needed new tires, I then took the car to Discount Tire. Austin Subaru's estimate included $728 to mount and balance 4 new tires, without listing which brand or model tires. Discount Tire gave me a handful of options, and I selected 4 new high-mileage Falken tires mounted and balanced for $624.38. I understand that dealer prices are typically higher, and I was prepared to pay a premium. However, I was not prepared to feel swindled. I will never go back to Austin Subaru, and because I suspect this is a corporate behavior, I will never buy another Subaru. read more

First of all only a Subaru will do, bc when I'm driving a Subaru with AWD I know my car will do what I need it to do, whether that's traveling fast, holding a curve or getting me through an ice storm. As far as where to buy that Subaru, it has to be Austin Subaru. I've only had one other Subaru...my first...six years ago. It was slightly used and my dream car at the time. But this was the first time I was buying a new one. I had to go through several, but I got the salesman I wanted. I just didn't know who that was until John took over. He knows just about everything. I didn't know for sure what I wanted so he showed me the Subaru line....including the big Ascent, which I didn't know Subaru makes. I told him I didn't want a "beefy" car that lumbers. When I drove the ascent I was totally surprised! It was so easy to drive, so comfortable and drives ALMOST like a sports car. I ended buying that model. It has already saved me from getting involved in a serious accident where two cars crashed into a wall. I was able to outmaneuver one of the cars that veered off the wall coming straight toward me. I am a car driving and buying enthusiast. I have had too many cars and trucks to count and I loved them all except one. The thing about John Martinez is he's not like other car salesmen. He cared about me getting the right car for ME. He searched high and low for inventory that came the closest to being exactly what I wanted. It wasn't easy bc of supply chain issues. This is the opposite of most salesmen. They knew which cars they had and they would immediately hawk me one of those cars. John went the extra mile and searched to get me the model with the options I wanted to have....even with it being a total seller's market right now. So to finish...In my view...Subaru is the best car to own. Austin Subaru is the best dealership for buying it. And John Martinez is the right person to get you the best version of YOUR dream car that he can come up with. It was amazing how he could do that. read more

I arranged for Austin Subaru to do a Pre Purchase Inspection for a WRX STI on a used car lot. As an out of state buyer, I was very concerned about certain aspects of the vehicle as I was potentially purchasing the car sight unseen. I had to take my car in for a problem and discovered the big problem is other customers in the waiting area won't wear masks. I asked the guy sitting next to me to put his on and he told me to fuck off. Management says they can't require masks, and I'm welcome to sit outside in the heat. Judging by the content of many of the reviews here, I'm reluctant to write one of this nature. My experience with Austin Subaru was in stark contrast to most of the others. I found them through an Ad on cars.com. It was for an older Nissan Rogue that appeared, from the professionally done pictures, to be in really good shape. I filled out the contact form and my request was answered almost immediately, first by a phone call and then by an email - this, from the Salesman. We made an appointment to meet the following day. My biggest question during the phone call was, is the car available? I was assured that it was. The follow-up from the salesman said "You picked a great vehicle! That 2011 Nissan Rogue has received a lot of activity". After a 1.34 hour drive (via GPS), through a rain storm, my wife and I were relieved to finally get to the store. We had to wait a bit for the Salesman but we were early so it was no big deal. Eventually our Salesman came to greet us. He was super nice. He invited us into his office to wait while his "Assistant" went to get the vehicle we came to see. We talked for about 20min. The way he probed us was incredibly smooth. He was able to talk to us, find out how we wanted to pay, how much, what types of cars we would tolerate, keep eye contact with us over his mask while at the same time search his inventory for cars he thought he could sell to us. Eventually he said "come look at the car". When we got outside the car we saw was not a Nissan Rogue but rather a Ford Escape. It was not the car we came to see but, rather, it was the car he wanted to sell. I asked about the Rogue but was told "don't you want to drive this one"? We looked at it but, again asked "what about the Rogue? After another evasive answer, I finally demanded to see the car we came to see. At that point the Salesman left and after a few minutes brought back his Manager. This guy told us that two days ago they discovered mechanical issues with the Rogue and that "you don't want one with mechanical issues do you?" A simple phone call to us would have saved us the better part of a days' time on the road but then, we wouldn't have looked at the Escape would we? The problem here is twofold. First, the Ad was still up 48hrs after issues with the car were found. Second, less than 24 hours earlier we were told that the car was not only available but was "getting allot of action". The only way we ever found out that the car wasn't available was when we declined to drive the one they wanted to sell and demanded to see the one we came to see. Turns out that what we experienced was a classic bait and switch. The Sales Manager claims this was unintentional. Given the slickness with which we were handled, I seriously doubt that. Austin Subaru is part of the larger CAG Auto Group which is comprised of Austin Subaru, 1st Texas Honda, Lexus of Austin and Mercedes of Austin. I hope your experience with any of them is better than my experience was with Austin Subaru. We won't be dealing with them. If you decide to work with them, I hope you have a better experience than we did. read more

I've been taking my vehicle mostly to Austin Subaru because of proximity and I own a Forester for several years now. My experience overall is that they have some shady service advisors and I believe it all comes from the top. One time, vehicle issue was misdiagnosed even though what the advisor was telling me did not make any sense. It wasn't until the third time (issue was intermittent) that a different honest advisor hit the nail on the head and there was nothing to be fixed. On another occasion and with a different advisor, they tried to tag along an additional service to the battery replacement and advisor couldn't explain me why and only mentioned that that's how they do it at Austin Subaru and this is the first place that I see them do that. Needless to say, a different dealer did not do that. This last time, they reduced the mileage and date on the maintenace sticker when I need to bring in my Forester. Besides, it states on their website that I decline some service but nobody mentioned anything and it is not even on my bill. On the other hand, they did contact Subaru once and fix a sensor at no cost to me, that was before a recall was issued. Hence, the two stars. Austin Subaru is definitely greedy and they do not care about charging you for unnecessary services. read more

This review is solely based on my sales experience~ The team here at Austin Subaru and Infiniti are superb~ I had a hiccup in the Service Department after purchasing my '17 Limited CrossTrek, but one of the Sales Manager, Eddie, as well as the Design Consultant Manager & Consultant, Laura and Adam, stepped in and made everything right! I appreciate Adam and Eddie being my advocate while the Crosstrek was in their care being corrected! Doing so, definitely made me a happy, thankful, customer! I had a few other brands in mind before settling on the Subaru, but it was the help of my fellow YELP'rs that told me to see this dealership FIRST! It ended up being my ONLY place I checked out! With a 4 star overall YELP rating, Its silly not to!! GLAD I did :) plus it was time to try something other than Toyota and Honda ;) No regrets~ This is my very first Subaru purchase and definitely will not be my last! I love the Crosstrek for my semi, active lifestyle. Also, I enjoy including my dogs in my adventures so I thought this car is perfect for that!! I love taking my dogs, Pepper & Daisy, on my hiking adventures as well as getting their "puppuccino's" (if you've never ordered one for your fur baby @ Starbucks you're dog is missing out! Big time!)....joking aside...Daisy loves laying on the passenger front seat, but my bigger fur baby who's weight is around 40 lbs, sits very comfortable in the very back of the car and hangs. Pepper is able to turn around and look whatever direction she pleases so it's the perfect size! It's great because I get to keep my back seats nice and clean if I have tag along (human) friends! lol...I love peeking at Pepper in the rear view mirror enjoying this car as much as me! Also, can't hate on a well branded company for LOVING "mans best friend," and designing vehicles with them in mind!! Very fitting!! When my husband and I eventually have a family with those of having toes instead of paws, we already decided on an Outback! ~ I was given a very comfortable, sweet riding Outback during the hiccup, and my husband loved that vehicle, more so than my CrossTrek! ( I didn't care what he loved, because he has his own ride!! Thank goodness!!) I want to say he loved the Outback more than his truck! The Outback turned him into a future Subaru customer already~ He ended up dropping me off at wrk while it was in our possession & enjoyed every min on the road in it! Haha Overall, we were very impressed with the loaner, but more importantly pleased with the service regarding the mishap. I look forward to being a customer again in the future but I don't hope i experience the same 'ol mishap!! Kurtis C was my sales rep and I totally recommend him~ most definitely friendly, patient, and will work with your indecisiveness if you keep changing your mind on the color of the car just like I did!! Haha. I ended up deciding on a color I've never owned before which was the khaki grey. Curtis was great to work with during negotiations. Getting service done at Austin Subaru is an overall wonderful experience. It is day and night compared to what I experienced when I owned a Hyundai. With South Point Hyundai I often had to wait hours for service even with an appointment and on two occasions I had to drive to killeen for service because they were adamant that they could not see me for 3-4 months. At Subaru, everyone is extremely professional, courteous, efficient, and stays in constant communication with you. The waiting area is also large, comfortable, and quiet. I've been a few times in the past and was treated to great service, but finally decided to write a review bc I came in due to a mess another repair shop made while trying to replace my tires and they destroyed some of my wheel locks. Austin Subaru fixed it with no fuss even though I didn't have an appointment and it wasn't their fault to begin with. When my prior Hyundai had issues, I immediately stressed out knowing taking it to the dealer would be a nightmare. Now, when I have to take my subaru in for service, it's a delightful experience and I know my car is in good hands. read more

It took me just 20-30 minutes to arrive at which point the sales person informed me the vehicle was sold. This review is not for the dealership shop but for the maintenance department. I purchased my vehicle in August 2021 (8 months ago) and have been very happy with all services received. Until yesterday when I took my car in to get a repair done on the bottom splash guard. When I went in to pick it up I noticed that for some reason now there's a gap in between the guard and the bumper not sure why this is as the bumper did not need repair. When I brought it to the attention of our service advisor Marco he seemed bothered that I brought it up either way he did offer us to bring it back to get it looked at again but he made it seem like that is as best as it will get and there's not much more they can do. I expect the best out of Subaru especially having to pay $600+ for this repair. The response I got was very disappointing. read more

My wife and I went to three other car dealerships before going to Austin Subaru, and Austin Subaru was a breath of fresh air. (I didn't rate those others here, but for comparison I'd give them 1 or 2 stars). Our salesperson, John Pasho, was knowledgeable and genuinely friendly, without being pushy or giving off that "car salesman" vibe. He let the car sell itself, and a few days later, we drove out with a new Outback, and are extremely happy with our purchase and the process in general. The negotiations were straightforward. There was none of that "Let me go ask my manager" stuff, or other typical games. This dealership is nice, clean, quiet, and even has a large, complimentary coffee shop with free coffee and snacks next to the service area in the back. I don't live in Austin, but I took my Subaru here for maintenance while out of town. My car needed a replacement part that wasn't in stock at this Austin location, but I needed to leave town and head home that same day, so I couldn't wait for the part to be shipped. Abel was my service advisor, and he gave me his business card saying that when I go to a separate location for the replacement, I could contact him to confirm that this part was what was needed. I didn't get the chance to do so until about two months later, and I emailed Abel asking for this confirmation; he provided it expediently and even emailed the other location's service advisor to confirm! I'll be a Subaru owner for life because they make an awesome product for a fair price. I also really appreciate their zero landfill manufacturing practices and other great things they do in local communities for charity. But, the follow up from staff here isn't what it used to be. The last time I bought a car here all of my follow-up requests from financial questions to how to get rubber mats and tint done were answered quickly and thoroughly and they went above and beyond to take care of me. This time it's been 1.5 weeks with no response to my voice mails or email. I'm not going to name names or call anyone out because I believe everyone there is a really nice person and doing their best, but not as responsive as they should be. This experience has definitely made the Subaru buying experience lose some of its luster for me. read more

Would give it zero stars if I could. I love my car but the sales and financing staff are dishonest. They will promise you the moon and stars to get you out of there in a car and then act surprised if you are upset that be expensive warranty they sold you doesn't cover maintenance. I was misled when I bought my car. After waiting there for an hour for this to be resolved the finance manager asked me what I wanted. It would have been more appropriate to apologize and to offer a solution. In the end he offered was comping the service today but I would have had to wait another hour. I left on the verge of tears. The icing on the cake was at the end of all of this the finance manager said they had scheduled me for the wrong service and I only needed an oil change and filter check. This was done 7,000 miles ago when I bought the car and I know that the oil does not need to be changed this often in a new hybrid car. So the whole time they were trying to do and charge me for unnecessary maintenance and NO one figured that out. This review is long overdue since first arriving in Austin several years ago (pre-pandemic) and having a 2014 Subaru Forester that due to multiple relocations, has been serviced by four different Subaru dealer service teams. This past week's servicing of my car, led and coordinated by Guest Services/Service Advisor Will Heller, was performed in a manner with attention to addressing and correcting items of primary safety and mechanical priority, rather than an expensive fix to sensors regulating the rear hatch which I made the decision to not complete due to the $2K+ price tag. One item needed was new set of tires and alignment, which when priced independently at a 'discount' tire store, found Subaru to be better pricing and with the added assurance of trained factory technicians. Anyway, as in my past visits, Will Heller walked me through what the mechanics recommended for repair, and then inserted in what he feels important to address, and what could be delayed to a later date to offset major financial impact. I've dealt w/ advisors in Maryland and Virginia, but by far and away, Will Heller and the Austin Subaru team are the best (doesn't hurt to know Will's been a Subaru "Top Gun" advisor with distinction in multiple years as well! This review is about the service side, as I bought my Subaru in another state. I go for regular maintenance and recently had to go for a more significant repair (the car's been through its share of road trips, so fine). I haven't encountered any consistent problems with the quality of service, honestly, and I think they do a fine job with oil changes and the simple things. My most recent repair seems to be fine, too. I'm always wary of going somewhere for maintenance, thinking my problem has been fixed, and then having something else mysteriously, subsequently go awry... hasn't been the case here. The new location on Burnet has a cafe and you don't have to pay for drinks!!! I felt so blessed walking away with a free cappuccino. I do have some grievances, though. I really don't care what level of cheeriness the technicians have, but I'll say that it varies *a lot*... some are snarky, some are saccharine, and some are just ducky. Wait time... who knows. It varies wildly even for an oil change. The obvious recommendation is to go on a weekday when there are probably fewer customers. Also, sometimes I have had secondary requests get overlooked... my parking light covers fell off (how? Your guess is as good as mine) and I mentioned it to a service manager who said she would order new ones and let me know when they were in... never heard about them, and no technician has mentioned helping with them since. I didn't follow up because I don't really care, but dudes, help me out. Also, during my recent repair, I asked them to look at a fritzy brake light... no one mentioned it or did a damn thing about it, and I ended up replacing it myself. So, customer service can be a little spotty and disorganized. I don't want to be the squeaky wheel when it comes to small stuff I can overlook, but I would appreciate a little more attention to detail. read more

I had another wonderful experience at Subaru Austin yesterday. My service advisor Jonathan Sosa was absolutely amazing!!! He drove me around in my car to figure out the odd noise I was hearing and he ended up fixing the issue on the spot!!! I will continue to use him as my service advisor for future visits.
