Had a beach day with a girlfriend and we were on a mission to check out the Avenu. Live in NSB so a new spot is always exciting. I'm posting pit of the 3 level Restaurant, it's beautiful. One Cherrywood Tree created the beautiful colors inside. The fishbowl cocktail was incredible! We shared! We also shared the Burger, yummy and some amazing stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon. There's several more menu items I can not wait to try. We sat on the 3rd deck, the breeze was lovely. We sat at the bar and enjoyed chatting with the bartenders. read more

All I can say is WOW! In NSB for a few days and happened to go to Avanu for their great happy hour specials of oysters and cocktails. I happened to ask the GM, Shawn, if they were planning to show the MLS game later this evening (Miami vs Philadelphia). He said that they don't have the channel, but 30 minutes later, he tells me that he just subscribed to the channel and they will show the game for me and my friend. The 2 of us, sitting upstairs at this amazing bar. I've never had customer service like this before. We are about to watch MLS AND MLB (Braves vs Yankees). Love this place! -- at Avanu. read more

First time was a good experience. The interior design is very well done and creative. We sat on the second level which was fun looking down. We all had the Bao Buns. Avanu is great! The decor inside has a funky surf vibe. Well decorated. We have been 3-4 times. We always sit on the open roof top. The food has always been fresh and comes out pretty quick. The smash burger is very good. Drinks are slightly pricey, but you are 2 blocks from the beach so expected. Wait staff has always been friendly and quick. We will be back and I hope the service and food stays elevated. Great addition to NSB. read more

My favorite restaurant in NSB! To start, the atmosphere is AMAZING and the staff is so friendly. Their drinks and food are top notch. I am a huge sushi fan, and their sushi rolls are the best I've had. Also, the bao buns are the best ever! My dad said it was the best meal he has had in his 46 years. I have made it through 61 years on this earth without leaving any reviews for any restaurants. I am a pretty forgiving person, and have never once complained about service and just go with the flow. My experience last night at this restaurant so extraordinary I feel compelled to leave a review. I have never encountered wait staff this rude. The woman who served us did not even make a rudimentary effort to be pleasant or helpful. We ended up leaving the restaurant because of the way they acted. I wondered during prime time why this restaurant was not packed? The location and decor are perfect.... I can report it's because of the service. The food was awesome.... We had the drinks run dry and had to ask another server to get out drinks refilled... Took about 30 min after we ate to get the server to come back so we could order desert. Then waited 15 min after desert was gone to flag down another server to bring out check.... Being that it was not busy I was expecting the server to check on us but sadly it never happened. If you go there at all, only use cash, don't hand them your debit card don't even tell them that you have a debit card or a credit card whatsoever. I understand that they probably have a lot of young people that dining and dashing but that is not the way to treat customers and people that are there all the time. I was explained that when you check in and open a tab at the bar, an automatic charge goes on your card whether you pay cash or even sign that card they will hold the funds for up to 3 to 4 days depending on your banking into institution. According to them there are many other places on Flagler Avenue that don't hold double my money for three days Especially when the food is only a six out of 10. This was our first time at Avanu. We sat on 3rd floor outside. It is very spacious. Our server was super friendly and recommended a few dishes that were delicious. There are many options and an eclectic mix all with an Asian flare. We started with bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer. The sauce was grilled on and had a delish Asian flavor. The best entree our table had was the short ribs with garlic risotto. We over ate because it was so good. We will def be back to try more dishes. read more

Rooftop experience is amazing. Food has Polynesian flair and is so good. We had volcano shrimp, bao buns, raw oysters, calamari and the poké stack. AMAZING!! Our server, Dallas, went above and beyond since we had a little one with us. Definitely a top tier NSB spot. read more

A beautiful building and interior. Rooftop bar is large and perfect for watching the sunset. But don't miss the rest of the interior cuz it's very arty and includes a Chihuly. Stopped by yesterday for the first time. Overall, the place looks really nice and modern. Went up to the rooftop because of the open concept. That was cool. Outside of that, it was very disappointing. We sat down on the edges and no one came over to us for quite some time. Had to flag the waitress down. Once we had her attention, she was kind and attentive. First, the drinks tasted terrible. Super sugery cocktails and Margherita. They did not taste good. The Margherita tasted like a sweet tea with artificial sugar and no sour mix or lime. The mojito tasted like water and sugar. We also ordered calamari which was decent. The plate felt a bit too busy. Sometimes simple is better! Here's my recommendation to the business...simplify your menu. It's way too large! Focus on making fewer items taste great. At this point if I were to go back, I would only order canned or bottled drinks. read more

I'm very excited about this place!!! We tried it during opening week which may be the reasoning for some of the issues we came across. We were sat downstairs near the indoor bar which was fine because the upstairs deck was super hot. Some large fans up there would make a lot of difference. Firstly, there were no high chairs for children so our friends had to leave. None at all because they were supposedly on back order. Once we were sat, our waiter was very kind and attentive. Unfortunately, it took us nearly 30 minutes to get our alcoholic drinks. She did bring waters immediately and warned us that the bar was backed up. I think nearly 30 minutes for a drink is excessive when we watched probably 25 people walk up to the bar and get a drink before we got ours to our table. The food was delicious and came out fairly quickly! I will definitely order the bulgogi salad again. Overall, I have high hopes for this place and definitely will be going back. Hopefully these few issues will be cleared up in the near future. read more

The food was mostly delicious but the view is what makes this place a 5 star rating. However, it did rain during our visit and the way the rooftop was installed makes it so rain is hitting you. First time was awful service but decided to give them a second chance- also horrible! First time had Jessica as a waitress and she was rude and not welcoming to me and my friends. I was embarrassed to have brought them here. Second time- it took 12 minutes- TWELVE for just water. Food was an additional half hour for only 3 people. Both times credit cards were "lost". Would not recommend and everyone I know says the same. There are much, MUCH better places on Flagler. Food is mediocre and all fried. Expensive bar food that is not great for a full restaurant. We went for brunch on Sunday. This was not our original destination but everything happens for a reason. Let's start with the mango mimosa. If you re doing brunch it's a must. We had the strawberry also it was ok, just not much flavor. We had several meals from the Benedict, stuffed French toast and original breakfast. All of it was delicious but the French toast was delicious and the potatoes they severed were the best we ever had. I am excited to try dinner in the roof after this visit. read more

The server was great, the food was acceptable but management needs significant improvement. We were dining last night at the roof top when an employee inadvertently operated the retractable roof which caused significant spillage of water on top of several guest tables. The guests were drenched with water. The server was apologetic and brought towels to dry off the table tops. However no one from management bothered to stop by to check on the affected guests.
