The Raspberry Roast Beef special. Huge and delicious!
    Brian C.

Clean store, pleasant atmosphere, sharp and efficient service, generous and delicious food, good value and good community involvement. This joint ticks the boxes! My gal had the raspberry roast beef sandwich special, and I had the Cuban grinder. The proteins are treated with respect here, and it shows. Roast beef is tender and delicious, ham is smoky and rich, and the roast pork is juicy and unctuous... Have to mention the fresh, delicious proprietary breads too. Quality veg and sauces, applied evenly and consistently, bring it all together. This is where you go to get a good sammich in Bellingham. They're big sandwiches too, so if you're not both famished one sandwich can easily feed two people, fyi. Totally trying their scratch-made soups next time. And I've got to try that legendary Ruben... Highly recommended!

Way too overpriced, I'm actually surprised they're still open. I payed 7 dollars for the beast breakfast sandwich for it to come out looking like an egg Mc muffin sandwich from McDonald's. Wouldn't recommend honestly. The service was good, good vibes and the place is actually gorgeous with amazing menu boards. Although the tables are so outdated and ruin most of the good vibes. Come here with low expectations.

We came and got coffee, breakfast sandwiches, and a deli sandwich for lunch later since we were heading for a hike. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I even spilled my drink all over the floor and they were so kind about it. They cleaned it up and gave me a new one on the house. The English muffin for the breakfast sandwich was so light and amazing! Really really good bread. Highly recommend this place for breakfast, lunch, or a delightful snack!

I LOVE Avenue bread. Their breakfast menu is robust and inventive, including a list of breakfast sandwiches featuring local meat, cheese and produce, and with the ability to be served on their delectable rosemary English muffin. They also serve scrambles if you are looking for something bigger and they come with toast if your choosing and perfectly crispy hash browns. Lastly, their sandwiches. Being a bread shop, you'd assume good sandwiches have to be a must, but you will be shocked at just how good these babies are! My absolute favorite is the turkey cranberry, it tastes just as you'd want a thanksgiving leftover sandwich to taste with a cranberry cream cheese, fresh sliced roasted turkey, red onion and cucumbers for texture. Seriously, cannot recommend enough. Also their staff is awesome and quick, the brunette gal who has been working at the downtown location for years is especially great!

I called in a rushed pickup order for our work today, and Avenue Bread's Team has our sandwich order ready to go within minutes when I arrived to pick it up. They were very friendly and courteous, and appreciated them having our order correct and delicious to bring back to work. I also ordered a sandwich for myself and ordered the Gourmet Turkey Sandwich; I loved the French Bread, lots of yumminess of meat, cheese and peppers, and love the sprouts! Delicious sandwiches and great service! Thanks for saving the day with our work lunch order!

Avenue Bread is a downtown staple, and for good reason. First of all, they have wayyy more than bread. Yes, they're a bakery, and they have some amazing baked goods, but they also have a huge menu of sandwiches, soups, and other tempting treats. I usually go during breakfast and order one of their "Eggenue" sandwiches. From the BEAST to the French they are ALL good and very fresh and filling. You get your choice of a plain, whole grain, or rosemary English muffin - all of which are tasty options. If you're super hungry, ask for a side of hash browns. They cook them up super-crispy, just how I like 'em. And of course, their bottomless coffee is no slouch either. The service is always friendly, they have free wi-fi, and as long as you remember to keep your parking meter fed you can pretty much hang out here for hours. It's one of my favorite spots in downtown Bellingham to bring my laptop and get some serious work done (while, of course, enjoying delicious food too).

Their sandwiches are bland at a premium price. Their are better options in Bellingham (Old World Deli).

Great sandwiches! The Reuben is delicious. Not too much dressing (perfect). My wife loved her turkey BLT.

This place is popular and BUSY (don't come here if you are in a hurry). I was going to down score them for the interior dining area. It is one huge MASSIVE open area that they packed in tables with and just put these tiny "pony walls" to provide a little bit of privacy but I didn't. Just know this.....THIS PLACE IS LOUD. I just loved the food so much they had to be 5 stars! They have a full espresso bar. Menu options are plentiful and delicious. I ordered the Blueberry Lemon Cobbler French Toast and that was impressive. Good thing I LOVE whipped cream because it came with a lot of that! Fresh blueberries went well with the lemon curd and the "cobbler" twist really worked with the French toast. A lot of the food options are big enough to share. I would definitely come back!

Really enjoyed the baked French Ham & Cheddar omelet. Plenty for us to split. They have excellent butter that enhances their already great pancakes. The pancakes were included with the omelet. Pretty proud of their biscuits but we thought ours was overcooked. We enjoyed eating the soft middle inside, but left the crusty outside. And we're not raspberry preserve folks. I love fresh raspberries but just can't do any other raspberry items. Tried the preserves but just not for me. Probably won't order the bacon again either. Good flavor but thick cut and hard to cut/chew. We'll be back!!

The patio can get a bit chilly, but it's worth it for the view, and they do have heaters available. I started with a salad, followed by the Keenan's burger with a garbanzo bean patty, and the soup du jour. All three were delicious. The complimentary bread served with garlic herb spread was a wonderful start--aromatic and very satisfying. The salad had a great balance of fresh vegetables and toppings. On a cold day, the soup was especially comforting. The burger itself was well prepared and flavorful. The staff was polite and attentive, though they seemed a bit overwhelmed due to a large party seated next to us. Another nice perk: there's a boardwalk and beach right next door, making it a great place for a stroll before or after your meal.

A Bit Longer Answer... Keenan's is somehow still a bit of a hidden gem in Bellingham, WA. How that is, at least for visitors, is beyond me. It is located in the absolute best hotel in Bellingham, the Chrysalis in Fairhaven, a delightful part of Bellingham, WA. You will want to stay there, just saying, and their spa? Oh my gosh...but I digress... A few weeks ago, while staying overnight, I took my brother-in-law to dinner at Keenan's. He dislikes...a lot. Forgive me, but one of his "super powers" seems to be in finding fault in any even somewhat nice restaurant. Something is always wrong with the food, the prices, and/or the service...yeah...but wait! Monty ate every bite and (wait for it...) did not complain once! Alert the media! Oh, happy day!! Okay, more details... I have had the pleasure of eating at Keenan's both in person at the restaurant and via their room service many times. BOTH ARE AMAZING! Their room service breakfasts are incredible! How they make their omelets as light and yet filling, EVEN WHEN DELIVERED to my lovely hotel room, is beyond me! Order their fruit, too, whatever it is they offer, order it. It will always be a beautifully flavorful addition to your meal. I can promise you your food will show up, even with room service, well-seasoned and ready to devour! Their dinners? WOW! I have had so many of their entrees, and each one is incredible. Their scallops are always perfect. Again, seasoned so that it complements the scallops without overpowering them. Their rib-eye is incredibly tender while still being cooked medium-rare, yay! And, their duck...oh my gosh! Hurray! I have to add, check their specials. I have never been steered wrong. Of course, a meal is almost as much affected by the service as by the food, right? They will treat you like a VIP, no matter who you are or what you order. How cool is that? I love that they have that ability to be attentive without hovering, nice! How funny is this? Their venue is stunning. There is no questioning that point. It is simply stunning! The cool part of that is that they cook like they don't have a view. Does that make sense? They don't just rely on that "wow" factor and assume you will just go there for the view. The food and service are even better than the view, and that says A LOT! Oh, shhhh...just saying, between you and me...Mia, our latest server, is a rock star! Can you tell I am a fan? Yep! Count me in! Go there, you will thank me!

Wonderful food and drinks. I started with oyster shooters (Willapa Bay) along with a Lion's Tail cocktail. Sierra said the bourbon and lime complement each other. I wouldn't have thought so and thought it a bit of an odd choice. But she was right and I was wrong: it was fabulous. One of the most delicious drinks I've ever had, for my tastes. She gave me several recommendations for dinner. I picked the Jalapeño Chicken. It was luscious and flavorful, but the best part of it was my choice of Balsamic Brussels sprouts as my side--oh my! These were so delicious I ordered two more batches to have at home. Lovely espresso martini to end it all.

I was happy to see steamed clams on the menu. I grew up eating fresh steamed seafood for dinner, so battered fried seafood that is more common here hasn't really grown on me yet. To me fried seafood is a fancy version of chicken nuggets. I loved the clams, so light but bland. The sauce is full of umami flavor, drizzled with some fresh lemon juice, it was like a summery beachy afternoon in a bowl. I could easily dip a loaf of toast with it if I had one. The clams were fresh and meaty, nothing to complain about with this dish. My partner had the grilled cheese, and he said it was mid. He's vegetarian, and I don't like cheese, so I didn't bother to try any of his meal to do my own fact check. The staff were friendly too. Overall, this is a nice place to grab lunch when visiting Bellingham.

I have been coming to this restaurant since I was a young boy, attending special family dinners or just going to get pizza after soccer practice. Now well into adulthood I still find myself coming here with my wife for an excellent dining experience, any time or day of the week. This week we decided to go in for brunch, and I couldn't think of a better place to spend a dreary Washington morning. When you walk into this cozy little restaurant the smells of fresh breads and fried potatoes invite you into an elevated breakfast experience. Our hostess sat us down at a table almost immediately with the same friendly smile and welcoming attitude that I have come to expect from the staff at the fork. After sitting down and sipping of fresh squeezed orange juice we ordered two of our favorite breakfast plates. Chicken Fried Steak, and Corned Beef Hash. The Corned Beef Hash consisted two poached eggs sitting on a heaping pile of shredded corned beef that was both crispy and tender. Typically this dish is served with peppers and onions, but on this trip my wife opted out and the chef was happy to oblige our request. I can say from prior experiences that the peppers and onions are a fantastic addition to this mix. I went with the Chicken fried steak. A classic breakfast that requires a large appetite to face on your own! The cube steak was breaded and fried with the traditional seasonings, then covered in a house made gravy that was so rich and flavorful I couldn't put my fork down. I ordered mine with over medium eggs that were cooked perfectly, something that other kitchens can rarely get right. If you are a fan of Chicken Fried Steak then you must try this one! Both of our plates came with a large portion of golden brown home fries, and a fluffy biscuit served with honey butter and a peach preserve. Our server was extremely nice and very attentive. Although the restaurant was fairly busy she made sure our every need was taken care of :) I once again left the fork feeling full, and extremely satisfied. If the doors to this amazing restaurant are open, I will definitely be coming back again and again.
