We stopped in for dinner on a whim after attending an event, and to our surprise, the restaurant was bustling on a Tuesday night. The cozy atmosphere and excellent service made for a nice dining experience. Parking was cavailable on the street. We began by sharing the pork dumplings, which were delicious. For our main courses, we opted for the scallops and seared salmon. Both dishes were flavorful, and we appreciated the generous portion size--five scallops instead of the typical four. With cocktails and a tip included, the total bill came to $130. Overall, we recommend this neighborhood restaurant for its warm ambiance and satisfying cuisine.

Just went here for dinner and we had a lovely evening. I definitely recommend making a restaurant as it is a cozy vibe inside. I have a gluten allergy and was so pleasantly surprised that they had gluten free breadcrumbs to make the fried oysters. I ordered the scallops which were good. Service was great!

I saw the glowing reviews on Yelp for Avenue N on Hope Street and decided to check it out with some friends. We arrived at 7 on a Friday night and the dining room was pretty much full- though it wasn't too overwhelming since the tables are spaced apart well. It was a bit energetic and we were seated after several minutes because we had a reservation; I can see it being hard to get a table on a weekend if you don't have a reservation. We sat by the window and were greeted by our server, who was very upbeat and gave us in depth descriptions of their specials for the night. We settled on some of their humorously-named cocktails and ordered some appetizers. After ten minutes, our server arrived back with the fried oysters, wings, Brussel Sprouts and pork baos that we ordered. My favorite was the fried oysters, which were so light and fresh, but all of them were delicious. For my main course, I chose the pan seared scallops which came on a bed of risotto. The presentation for this dish was done very well and the scallops were perfectly cooked. The risotto got a bit repetitive towards the end but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Overall, my experience at Avenue N was great and I recommend it to anyone in the area looking for a fantastic and modern take on New England cuisine.

    Little gem salad

Been a loyal patron for about 5 years. The pizzas are always amazing. Have dined in, have gotten take out never had an issue. Until last night. My wife loves the little gem salad, had it probably a dozen times. This would NEVER get served in house. The core of the lettuce was rotting causing all the leaves to have some nasty slimy aspect to them and garde manger or who ever is running that station thought it was cool to send this since odds are maybe 1/20 people Will actually act on it. What a shame. Sigh.

Had a great time at this restaurant! I have been wanting to try it out ever since they moved into the spot and I usually see they are very busy on the weekends. We were able to snag a seat on a weeknight and we're very impressed with the food. I was not super hungry and the waitress suggested that I could get "half orders" or something so I got a half salad and some sliders that were on the appetizer menu and it was perfect! The atmosphere is clean and hip, but not uncomfortable. The prices weren't too bad either for a nice restaurant. Can't wait to try some of the fancy drinks when we come back next time.

I came on a Friday evening as a walk in and the host was able to accommodate me right away. I love black truffles and the chef here must love them too. I decided to try their croquettes, made with beef cheek and, you guessed it, black truffle, and malt vinegar aioli with smoked parsnip relish. Absolutely delish, 3 croquettes, crunchy crusty on the outside, gooey truffled bechamel goodness inside. I followed that with their onion and poblano soup gratin, which in addition had gruyere cheese and truffle cream. OMG so delicious and satisfying, I should have stopped there. But I couldn't resist their flourless chocolate torte, with drizzled raspberry sauce and topped with homemade whipped cream. Will need to step up my work outs for a while, but it was worth it!My only concern about this neighborhood eatery was the noise level inside. Maybe next time I'll try an outside table, or arrive a little later in the evening,

    Casual dining ambience
    Marie M.

Very classy, casual venue. Hubby suggested we come here for dinner and I only had time to briefly glance through the photos before getting ready. The presentation of the dishes in the pictures looked very fancy and upscale, so I decided to put on a dress. Hubby was already wearing a suit for work. I didn't realize this restaurant was located on the East Side of Providence on Hope St., which is a casual hipster location. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer; hubby ordered the salmon with couscous and I ordered the fried oysters, which was thoughtfully served on a bed of salt and a giant slice of lemon and an amazing horseradish dipping sauce--perfect combo. There are only five pieces of oysters, but they are quite filling if you're ordering another appetizer and dessert. The calamari was excellent and so fresh. The flourless chocolate ganache cake was decadent with a guiltless hint of sweetness. The majority of the people there wore preppy casual outfits. Very hipster. I loved the upbeat music in the background and the casual ambiance. It's a popular restaurant, so it was packed but with zero to minimal wait time for seating on a Friday night. I did call ahead for reservation for 2 just to make sure we get seated right away as we were hungry.

    Shrimp and Grits

Wow, what a wonderful find. I'll be honest at first- the menu seemed standard. Interesting salmon, good steak option, calamari. Don't be fooled. This isn't your average American cuisine. It is the best version of all your favorites. We made a last minute Friday reservation and got an amazing table. The calamari is crisp, spicy and perfectly balanced. The scallops in Uni-corn risotto is to die for. The shrimp and grits has an umami flavor that is both familiar and also so so so tasty. The service is great (thanks Tess), and you won't be rushed. It's a chill and fun atmosphere that you won't regret! I would highly recommend for date nights, when you want to chill with friends or family without being rushed.

We started out with my husband's newfound favorite, the clam cakes. I appreciated the herbiness of the breadcrumbs they were fried in. My husband got the crab roll for his entree, and I did like the bite I was able to sneak of it. I really wanted the lobster roll but that $42 price tag turned me away quickly. Instead I got the fish and chips with pollock for my entree. I am always complaining about portion sizes. Not here, I was only able to finish around 1/3 of it. It is substantial! Not only was it a generous portion, but it was really nicely fried, and I loved the flaky salt on it. My one complaint is the sauces that you pay extra for. I got some piri-piri mayo and garlic aioli. Both of these were absolutely not worth it, grossly lacking in flavor. Don't waste your money on these and stick with ketchup. The staff was friendly, helpful, and as attentive as they could be from inside the food truck. The locale is super cute with a bunch of picnic tables out on a patio. We stopped in at 5 yesterday and were worried the restaurant would be busy, but we were sat immediately. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated with lots of nautical themes. Our waitress was lovely and explained the menu to us in detail. As it was our first time at a seafood boil she was very patient with all our questions. Ultimately I had the 2lb boil with 1lb of mussels, 1/2lb of shrimp, and 1/2lb of clams in the captain Loui sauce with a side of garlic noodles. Our waitress came back quickly with a bib, gloves, and a bucket for shells. Not long after our meals came out and let me tell you everything was excellent! The seafood was cooked perfectly, plenty of sauce, and even the corn and potato were out of this world. I ordered the sauce medium and it definitely had a nice kick to it. The garlic noodles had great flavor, a little clumpy but with a little of that captain Loui sauce added on top it fixed the problem. It's not cheap but for a once in a while special occasion treat I can not recommend this place enough!

First of all, the restaurant itself is small but very cute, cozy, and full of lovely New England-y Sea-Themed decor. We were promptly seated and had our order taken for our drinks & food - I had heard good things about this place, so I got a decent amount of food items, including: Lobster Roll - Arguably the best lobster roll I've ever had so far in my life. The brioche bun for it was soooo fluffy, soft, and a perfect complement to the big, juicy chunks of lobster that were seasoned and buttered JUST right. Also came with hefty and well-seasoned fries. New England Clam Chowder - Came with salted pork and potatoes in addition to the quahog clams. It was deliciously creamy and soothing to slurp on and the chunks within were all so tender and a great contrast. Clam Cakes - Added them to the Clam Chowder order for an extra $8. Big, hefty, doughy balls that were perfectly fried outside and ooey gooey within. Fish & Chips - Big, hefty fish that was juicy & delicious with a great crunch on the outside! Similarly came with the 'chips', or the hefty, well-seasoned fries that the lobster roll also came with. Oh yeah, pardon me, forgetting to mention the drinks! We ordered the Briny Martini and the Harbor House Punch! The Martini was great for a stronger drink and the Punch was a nice cocktail for anyone preferring something sweeter and fruitier. When it came to the food, service, and dining experience...it couldn't have been better! Everything was incredibly delicious and definitely worth ordering. This memorable experience then reached exceptional circumstances, however, as while we were in the middle of dining here and enjoying our delicious food, there was a shooting occurring just up the street at Brown University. I wish to commend the staff at Dune Brothers, who looked out for mine and their other patrons' safety and sheltering us in their restaurant as we all nervously waited for more information on what exactly was going on that evening. Exceptional circumstances aside, this restaurant is also exceptional when it comes to the quality of their food and service. I highly recommend coming here if you're in Providence!
