It's Taco Tuesday! For their Taco Tuesday you must order a drink for the prices to qualify. BUT the good news for us working women is a Diet Coke qualifies, it doesn't have to be alcoholic. I was never a fan of crispy tacos until trying theirs years ago. Their carnitas and chicken crispy tacos are truly perfection. Not greasy, FULL of meat and cheese as you can see. I'm boring and get just meat and cheese because veggies in my world should be separate. The sour cream completed it. The others got an avocado burrito with shrimp, the size of his head and half to come home with him. And the other had their soft tacos. The service here has always been great, very attentive and quick. Our waitress even asked if we need straws which I so appreciate. It was around $50 including tip which yes is a lil pricey compared to some other Taco Tuesday's but if you want a crispy taco, or a massive burrito, this is your place. read more

We ordered takeout yesterday and were so looking forward to it. We love this place and would frequently eat here when in the area. Unfortunately our meal was not good. I ordered the light tostada and it had no flavor. The chicken tasted like boiled chicken and the beans (not refried) were also tasteless. We had a Chili Relleno stuffed inside a Chimichanga--a Chimirelleno It wasn't on the menu; we dreamed it up. They totally accommodated us . It was so good. The rice and beans were on point. Every dish that came out looked really good. The service was great. My only complaint was that the guacamole--which as delicious--had a layer of tomatoes at the bottom of the bowl of avocado to make it look like there was more avocado. Went for dinner with my mother and brother on a Monday night. Although the place was smallish, we were quickly seated outside. The service was great, our waiter was there perfect amount of attentive. They offer a happy hour menu - of which we ordered drinks and guacamole. I ordered a jalapeño margarita which was tasty (could have been spicier). All of our food was delicious and the price was reasonable. I recommend the avocado bowl! We would come again. read more

We had an enjoyable lunch, make all the more enjoyable by Margherita Monday. We both had the Veggie Burrito, which was fine. The sauce was ok, but next time will order dry and cover with salsa. The salsa had a kick which the enchilada (wet) sauce was lacking. As a vegetarian I found the menu frustrating. There were a limited number of vegetarian options, but a large number of dishes which could easily be vegetarian by requesting 'no meat'. There are enough restaurants who value their vegetarian customers that I refuse to play that game. That said, service was outstanding, food was good, patio dining provided great people watching, margaritas were excellent, and we will return. read more

We came here for a Taco Tuesday dinner. First off the margaritas are awesome. There was a misunderstanding with the waitress regarding if there were onions in the tacos (which my wife & I are allergic too)...when they came out they looked amazing but had onions in them. We spoke to the waitress & she made it 100% right & the chef made us our own tacos not cooked with any onions & were really good. After all of that, we asked for the check & the waitress told us they took care of it & not to worry about it. We insisted on paying for it & last resort was to at least pay for the drinks but they still said it was on the house. We accepted with great appreciation & tipped her handsomely. I made a playful joke with the fact I couldn't understand the waitress (because of her mask) when I was reserving the table. I was discriminated by them, waiting more than an hour and having 2 other families go before ours. We went here during for my mom's birthday. The place was a little busy at the time like half full. The prices were okay as it is a bit much for Mexican food, however, but can understand because of location. I ordered the burrito that had rice, beans, guacamole and it was $12.50 a little pricey for me, but I have to admit the chicken was moist and not dry. I did not get to try the other food, but it did look good as well. The food was served pretty fast and if you need more chip salsa and water you will need to ask, that is the only downside, but they were more than happy to give you more :) read more

2.75 Stars. Aside from the company, the best thing was my chile relleno. Rice and beans were served luke warm. The fresh guac was far from fresh (the brown tint the avo had was a dead give away on the freshness scale). The margi's were well...a dive into sweet and sour mix. The ceviche left a lot the imagination...most definitely had better. And although our server was friendly, she seemed a bit annoyed with our party seeing as we kept adding things to our meal order. All in all I would say this isnt the best Avila's location. I love the intimate vibe of the place, but not sure I would trek it to seal to have Mexican, I'll just stick to the Newport digs. read more

If its, bland, uninspiring safe, cheese laden, shredded lettuce garnished plates with mediocre rice & beans then this is the place for you. They have many restaurants, I know, but like mold spores, they find a way to propagate. Imagine a Mexican restaurant without a decent salsa? what gives? This is the very definition of "gringo" Mex. I had a plate of tacos dorados (filled with potatoes) it was expensive, had no Guacamole with it, no crema, a pile a pico and lettuce and some Cotija if I remember correctly. Definitely not a destination. If you have time you are better off at Enrique's or Los Compadres, and skip the disappointment. read more

Honestly I saw all the good reviews and decided to eat here, but omg I was worng. I really don't think how people can say this is authentic Mexican food. Do not order the horchata, unless you want to taste water with sugar which is 4.99 and not worth it. The corn tortillas don't smell like corn neither taste like corn. I believe they just buy a huge pack and get warmed up upon request. The fajitas were ok the chicken was seasoned good, the black beans as well, in the other hand the carnitas were a bit dry, and the pinto beans needed more flavor. I used the bathroom which it was gross. I think the pier bathroom is cleaner than this bathroom. I hope the manager, owner, supervisor or whoever reads this and make some changes. We had a early dinner last night for the first time here in seal beach. We use to go to the one in north Long Beach until it sadly closed. Our meals were good, the burrito with asada meat was too chunky, prefer smaller pieces. The potato tacos and chicken taquitos were delish. Too many tomatoes on all our dishes for our taste. The Cadillac El Presidente margarita was very very tasty. We will try again. read more

Enjoyed lunch here this afternoon. We just starting venturing into Seal Beach. There's a cute little downtown area. My husband and I were craving Mexican food so we found this place on yelp. We both ordered a combo plate. Prices reflect the quantity of food you receive. We tried the mango margarita and the skinny cucumber margarita, both were yummy! We had ordered a guac appetizer and the server forgot to ring it in. No biggie, we both work in the industry and understand. Our server gave us a card for a free appetizer on our next visit to reconcile. Great guest recovery, food and drinks were both delicious, we will be back. read more

I typically do not write bad reviews but I had to in this case. We have been going to the Avila's in Santa Ana for quite a while and it is always pretty good. However, when we stopped at this location in Seal Beach and had lunch it was not good at all. First of off, it was pretty dirty. But because it was a Sunday just after the lunch crowd we gave them a pass. Dumb. We ordered drinks and they took forever, then when lunch came two of us got our order and we politely waited until our friend said "Hot food rules" which means go ahead and eat. It took another 10 minutes to bring out our friends fajitas and then our other friend never got their food. Finally they came and asked and we said just forget it as we had already FINISHED our food. And lets not talk about how dirty and disgusting the bathroom was. And it was definitely not understaffed....plenty of employees not seeming to being doing anything. Terrible. read more

Really disappointing. The salsa was the only thing that was decent. We ordered a Azteca Burrito and the meat was essentially unseasoned, the salsa on the burrito tasted like a metal can (most likely canned tomatoes sauce), and the filling was watery. With so many really good Mexican restaurants in Socal there is no reason to eat a $17 burrito that tastes like this. I didn't finish it. read more

Fast, friendly service in a beautiful area. Been to HB location, this was so much better all around. Bathroom is clean, doesn't smell like anything which I appreciate!!! Food came quickly and did not wait more than 10 seconds for my bill. Has a few tv's for sports, nice small outdoor patio with fancy heaters, bar area fits maybe 6, and the beans were legit.
