Overall an excellent experience. It's one of those places you drive by a million times and never see until the day you book your car. Beach Blvd is funny like that. It's also adjoined with Budget. Checking in and out was fast. They made it simple! Returning the car was a smooth transition and considering I had children in my car, they didn't care about the crumbs. Bonus. There is an extra charge that's a hold on your credit/debit that they don't tell you about. I had to call about the discrepancy when I saw my bank account. It will be refunded to you, but I wish they were more clear up front. It's only a few hundred dollars, but in the midst of signing a long rental document, it would be a nice advisory. Enterprise usually gives you water while you wait, and they offer pedal extensions for short people like me. Enterprise was also more expensive so I assume you get what you pay for. Even during busy rushes, when he is the only one in the office handling a steady stream of customers, he remains calm, professional, and incredibly personable. This is a horrible place. Terrible customer service. Just like other reviews here, showed up after booking a reservation, and they didn't have the car to rent. Waited about 40 mins while they were trying to force an EV rental on me. Eventually, 45 mins later a gas vehicle became available. The car was filthy, and smelled horrible. I still took it and just washed it. Approximately, seven weeks later I returned the car. I cleaned it and put gas in it the morning of return. However, I had to drive from Anaheim to La Habra. When I returned the car, the guy at the front desk wanted to bill me for the minuscule amount of gas I wasted driving to their location. When I pushed back and mentioned just fighting the additional charge, he threatened to bill me for the rental cost for the entire week even though I was returning the car that day. Essentially, threatening to not prorate me because I said I would fight the charge for the gas. When I pushed back harder he eventually just charged me for the gas and prorated me, but he was rude, arrogant, and had zero customer service skills. I will never do business here again. When I called the agent to book my reservation. I asked what was available today. First she said la habra was the only place that had rental cars available. I ask the prices and was told if I paid on line the amount would be a lower rental price but deposit would be higher once I got there. If I paid in person it would be higher rental price but a lower security deposit. What he did not tell me was they run a credit check on every one. I never consented to a credit report. Also a debit card was not accepted I'd had to be a credit card. So I transferred the money to my credit card. This was why I called before going there. I have had the worst experience ever. I rented a car while on vacation and I used it Tuesday and Wednesday, on Thursday morning it wouldn't start, it wouldn't keep a charge and the alternator was messing up. After I borrowed a car to run my errands I got in touch with roadside assistance and that's where the whole rental experience went downhill. I won't say I'll never rent from them again but they should definitely make sure their vehicles are in good running condition, their customer service representatives need to be properly trained, and their counter service representatives need to do their jobs. I didn't get any resolve until I contacted their District Manager. I decided to use my mom's car and now limited on what I can do while on vacation. I hope that when I call Avis's billing department they reimburse me for everything. Very disappointed. read more

Excellent customer service was received everyone was very nice and polite and helpful they asked what type of car he with would you like even though we booked ahead of time on a reservation we got to choose from what they had an a lot they didn't have a lot but enough to choose from also they offer big rental trucks that's even better than U-Haul rental. This location has the worst customer service! The first time we rented here we accidentally left our personal car on the lot. While we were checking out the guy at the front desk was nice and pleasant. We were surprised to get a call from him screaming at us for leaving the car on the lot! I couldn't believe it was the same guy so we asked if it was him when we returned the car. I made a note to never rent there again and I called customer service. I made a reservation there again without knowing it was the same location. I didn't remember it was LA Habra but I remembered as soon as I drove up to the place. The same guy helped me and I didn't really speak to him. He kept asking us where we were going to take the car. It was very unprofessional because I avoided the question twice. When he asked the third time the other person I was with just told him. I don't feel it's his business to ask and keep asking. The car was 3/4 full. How are we supposed to fill up a car 3/4. The car was bigger and he was a lot ruder this time. The couches in there are all old and worn out. Avis needs to come check on their business to make sure they look up to standard. I guess I should of read the bad reviews from about a month ago. I agree, extremely horrible customer service. Normally I pick up rentals from the location in Santa Fe springs by the swap meet and the 5 fwy (FYI, kick ass customer service). I made the mistake of reserving at 5pm, I get there 15 minutes till 5pm and realize I forgot my license. I asked Ronald if a picture of my license and my credit card that has my I formation be good...he said no. I asked if he can wait 5 to 10 minutes for my wife to drop off the license...he said no. I asked if I could transfer over the reservation to my dad since we have the same name...he said no. He had no care or an option to help out but as soon as I walked he took off at 4:59...not 5pm. This was a very disappointing experience for me since Avis is the only company I use mainly for their customer service. I guess I'll have to make an effort to go visit my buddy Stevie at the Avis in Santa Fe Springs. Long story short. Made reservation three days before pick up. Got dropped off and got stranded. They did not have a car for me even after confirming I was going to be there the day before. Funny side story the guy was calling me as I walked into the shop to tell me they had no car for me. They had cars, but no car for me. Apparently it was my fault for showing up 30 minutes early. It must be true the guy working at the counter told me so. He also told me I could try again in a few days, he might have a car for me then. I said no worries call me an Uber and I'll take off since I took one to get there from Los Angeles. He literally laughed at me and said we don't do that your on your own. I've used this Avis location for years; and why I haven't written a review is beyond my own comprehension. Yet, here I am--attempting to make up for lost time. Despite the previous poor reviews, by some, this is hands down the best Avis location. Staff is extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and customer-first oriented. The only time I consider going anywhere else, is when they are sold out. If you go to buy a car here note that they say it's a free test drive however they neglect to tell you there's a $156 dollar charge to your card. I went to look at a potential vehicle to purchase and opened the car door to look inside the car while paper work was being finished. I went back inside the store and said I don't need to test drive the vehicle but because I opened the car door I was charged the $156 even though I decided not to drive the car. The money was said to be refunded back to me and would take 48 hrs. The person behind the desk failed to mention the charge would be made for simply opening the door. He was not apologetic for the complete inconvenience and had poor customer service skills, and lacks basic communication abilities to properly assist clients. I received an award from my company and I choose a $75 gift certificate for Avis Rental car since I was taking a trip soon. I called the 888-439-0632 on the gift card and asked if I reserved my car on line how would I apply the gift card. The customer representative said to present the gift card at the time of pick up to get my $75 off the price of the rental. When I went to pick up the car the very poor customer service representative said I can't use it because I prepaid on line. I lack of correct information and bad customer service was disappointing and insulting. If I didn't have a gift card I would never use Avis again. read more

I arrived and was told that since I was early, that they did not have a car for me. I was told that the other cars were reserved for other people. And then I was forcibly upsold to a bigger car for a higher price. This is the second time that this has happened at an Avis rental place. I would be more forgiving if it were the first time something like this happened, but it's the second time it has happened. I don't appreciate this and it made me very angry. They should give me the car that I actually reserve instead of upselling me and feeding me lines. This review is for an experience that starts at this location but really is applicable to Avis in general. I have to be very honest in saying this was hands down the worst car renting experience I've ever had, and I will never be renting from Avis again - no matter the price difference. Without getting into too much detail, I was unable to get my vehicle here due to a system issue (which is understandable) but then had to drive 20 min to a different city to pick up a car that was incredibly dirty (bird poop everywhere) inside and out with gunk on the engine and scratches everywhere. After a 2 hour car pickup delay, we had battery issues throughout our drive and were erroneously charged an extra 55$ due to "base rate change" for no reason after turning in the vehicle. We were offered a refund on that only after catching it on the receipt and given no additional reimbursement or reassurances besides "we'll make a note."
